baptism_n or_o lay_v on_o of_o hand_n or_o both_o to_o what_o purpose_n be_v they_o produce_v in_o answer_n to_o which_o i_o must_v say_v that_o what_o be_v offer_v on_o the_o account_n of_o author_n and_o antiquity_n have_v be_v occasional_o do_v mr._n danvers_n have_v lead_v we_o in_o that_o path_n nay_o i_o may_v say_v we_o be_v necessitate_v thereto_o by_o his_o mean_n unless_o we_o shall_v leave_v one_o chief_a part_n of_o his_o book_n unanswered_a in_o regard_n he_o utter_o deny_v the_o thing_n itself_o viz._n lay_v on_o of_o hand_n upon_o baptize_v believer_n as_o such_o affirm_v there_o be_v no_o mention_n make_v of_o any_o such_o thing_n or_o practice_n in_o the_o scripture_n and_o second_o in_o say_v the_o ancient_a father_n and_o asserter_n of_o it_o fly_v main_o to_o tradition_n and_o the_o usage_n of_o the_o church_n in_o the_o case_n shall_v a_o adversary_n utter_o deny_v water-baptism_n however_o administer_v and_o say_v it_o be_v never_o command_v by_o christ_n but_o be_v a_o mere_a human_a invention_n or_o innovation_n of_o man_n yea_o and_o affirm_v that_o all_o the_o father_n and_o confessor_n that_o heretofore_o plead_v for_o it_o whole_o make_v use_n of_o tradition_n and_o usage_n of_o the_o church_n in_o vindication_n thereof_o will_v not_o any_o that_o be_v for_o baptism_n judge_v it_o necessary_a not_o only_o to_o prove_v it_o institute_v by_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o practise_v by_o the_o apostle_n and_o primitive_a christian_n but_o also_o in_o opposition_n to_o his_o opponent_n that_o those_o writer_n both_o of_o former_a and_o late_a time_n who_o contend_v for_o it_o do_v fly_v to_o the_o scripture_n for_o its_o proof_n and_o confirmation_n though_o some_o of_o they_o can_v not_o do_v so_o as_o touch_v the_o subject_a and_o manner_n of_o administration_n hence_o it_o be_v we_o have_v take_v the_o same_o method_n in_o the_o defence_n of_o a_o ordinance_n of_o the_o same_o nature_n and_o authority_n and_o now_o my_o dear_a brethren_n i_o can_v but_o acquaint_v you_o that_o my_o spirit_n have_v be_v much_o refresh_v to_o hear_v how_o the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n have_v be_v carry_v on_o of_o late_a among_o some_o of_o you_o and_o the_o readiness_n of_o many_o to_o receive_v this_o despise_a truth_n i_o be_o persuade_v the_o more_o a_o truth_n be_v oppose_v the_o more_o it_o get_v ground_n and_o the_o saint_n with_o for_o the_o extraordinary_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n because_o those_o extraordinary_a gift_n or_o miracle_n serve_v not_o for_o they_o that_o believe_v but_o for_o they_o that_o believe_v not_o
