together_o and_o that_o god_n will_v help_v we_o if_o he_o think_v it_o good_a now_o david_n show_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o persevere_v in_o call_v upon_o the_o name_n of_o god_n loe_o here_o the_o four_o point_n which_o we_o have_v to_o note_v in_o this_o place_n to_o the_o end_n that_o every_o of_o we_o may_v discharge_v ourselves_o of_o they_o for_o see_v from_o whence_o we_o must_v learn_v the_o manner_n to_o pray_v well_o to_o wit_n in_o the_o first_o place_n not_o with_o have_v our_o mouth_n go_v but_o we_o must_v lay_v open_a our_o heart_n and_o all_o our_o affection_n before_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n and_o pray_v in_o spiritual_a truth_n and_o not_o only_o so_o but_o we_o must_v also_o be_v inflame_v with_o such_o a_o zeal_n as_o that_o we_o be_v full_o assure_v that_o he_o will_v both_o hear_v and_o help_v us._n and_o for_o performance_n hereof_o we_o must_v be_v touch_v to_o the_o quick_a with_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o know_v that_o our_o estate_n be_v most_o accurse_a if_o god_n have_v not_o pity_n on_o we_o and_o also_o what_o the_o salvation_n be_v which_o he_o have_v promise_v we_o we_o must_v have_v always_o these_o thing_n in_o mind_n to_o in_o such_o a_o readiness_n as_o david_n here_o speak_v of_o we_o must_v day_n and_o night_n and_o every_o minute_n be_v occupy_v to_o look_v unto_o god_n and_o too_o call_v upon_o he_o and_o to_o have_v this_o understanding_n with_o we_o that_o whensoever_o any_o of_o we_o shall_v wake_v in_o the_o night_n that_o it_o be_v to_o this_o end_n to_o pour_v out_o some_o sigh_n unto_o our_o good_a god_n for_o our_o sin_n and_o transgression_n and_o also_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v alone_o by_o our_o selue_fw-mi we_o must_v do_v the_o like_o know_v right_a well_o that_o god_n see_v we_o and_o that_o we_o be_v always_o as_o it_o be_v in_o his_o presence_n last_o we_o must_v persevere_v herein_o &_o not_o take_v up_o the_o buckler_n and_o by_o and_o by_o lay_v they_o down_o again_o and_o be_v soon_o weary_v but_o we_o must_v still_o continue_v in_o our_o prayer_n as_o david_n here_o show_v we_o a_o example_n now_o after_o he_o have_v make_v these_o protestation_n he_o go_v on_o and_o say_v that_o after_o he_o shall_v be_v hear_v and_o shall_v have_v obtain_v his_o request_n that_o he_o will_v keep_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n here_o david_n show_v that_o he_o will_v not_o god_n except_o we_o be_v already_o prepare_v to_o acknowledge_v his_o benefit_n and_o too_o have_v this_o full_a resolute_a mind_n that_o david_n have_v to_o wit_n to_o glorify_v god_n when_o as_o he_o shall_v have_v hear_v our_o prayer_n as_o also_o we_o see_v these_o two_o thing_n to_o go_v together_o in_o another_o place_n where_o it_o be_v say_v call_v upon_o i_o in_o the_o day_n of_o trouble_n and_o i_o will_v deliver_v thou_o and_o thou_o shall_v gorifie_v i_o see_v then_o what_o we_o have_v to_o note_v upon_o this_o say_n where_o david_n say_v that_o he_o will_v keep_v the_o ordinance_n and_o testimony_n of_o god_n but_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v in_o the_o second_o place_n what_o the_o thanks_n be_v which_o god_n require_v of_o we_o after_o he_o have_v holpen_v we_o &_o that_o we_o have_v feel_v his_o goodness_n in_o not_o reject_v our_o prayer_n now_o this_o be_v true_a that_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o the_o mouth_n do_v his_o office_n to_o magnify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o confess_v how_o great_o we_o be_v behold_v unto_o he_o and_o yet_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o our_o mouth_n have_v speak_v but_o we_o must_v glorify_v he_o with_o the_o whole_a to_o attain_v thereto_o yea_o and_o if_o that_o we_o shall_v attain_v thereto_o so_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o lead_v we_o to_o iniquity_n yet_o let_v we_o pray_v with_o david_n that_o it_o which_o may_v withdraw_v we_o from_o the_o law_n of_o god_n let_v we_o overcome_v all_o that_o in_o the_o virtue_n and_o power_n of_o the_o promise_n which_o god_n have_v make_v we_o that_o by_o they_o we_o may_v be_v confirm_v in_o his_o love_n and_o bounty_n to_o the_o end_n we_o fall_v not_o into_o such_o a_o confusion_n as_o we_o see_v the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a fall_n and_o daily_o cast_v themselves_o and_o according_a too_o this_o doctrine_n let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o acknowledge_v of_o our_o offence_n beseech_v he_o that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o to_o make_v we_o better_o too_o feel_v what_o taste_v we_o ought_v too_o take_v in_o his_o holy_a promise_n and_o to_o be_v exercise_v in_o they_o that_o we_o may_v valiant_o fight_v against_o those_o vice_n which_o may_v hinder_v we_o to_o stay_v upon_o his_o protection_n and_o that_o by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n we_o may_v overcome_v all_o offence_n and_o grief_n to_o the_o end_n that_o be_v fortify_v by_o his_o grace_n we_o may_v not_o have_v any_o access_n to_o satan_n whereby_o he_o may_v win_v and_o get_v of_o we_o but_o that_o we_o constant_o persevere_v in_o the_o holy_a vocation_n of_o this_o good_a god_n may_v follow_v our_o course_n until_o such_o time_n as_o he_o shall_v take_v we_o out_o of_o this_o world_n to_o bring_v we_o unto_o that_o heritage_n which_o he_o have_v prepare_v for_o we_o before_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n and_o also_o which_o jesus_n christ_n have_v purchase_v for_o we_o with_o his_o most_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n heth_n thou_o be_v my_o portion_n o_o lord_n i_o have_v determine_v to_o keep_v thy_o law_n i_o make_v my_o humble_a petition_n in_o thy_o presence_n with_o he_o have_v say_v that_o every_o man_n may_v divide_v it_o as_o he_o will_v and_o lust_v as_o we_o see_v the_o desire_n of_o man_n too_o be_v sundry_a and_o diverse_a one_o draw_v one_o way_n another_z another_z and_o in_o deed_n say_v he_o every_o man_n wish_v as_o he_o fantasi_v but_o as_o for_o myself_o i_o desire_v none_o other_o blessedness_n nor_o felicity_n but_o to_o content_v our_o passion_n and_o fleshly_a lust_n let_v we_o then_o desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o god_n will_v draw_v we_o unto_o himself_o link_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o grant_v we_o the_o grace_n to_o that_o good_a whereunto_o we_o have_v willing_o bend_v ourselves_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o then_o to_o have_v a_o little_a desire_n which_o soon_o wax_v cold_a or_o rather_o which_o wax_v even_o dead_a through_o contrary_a temptation_n but_o we_o must_v hold_v a_o sound_n and_o steadfast_a conclusion_n as_o david_n here_o speak_v i_o have_v full_o determine_v say_v he_o he_o put_v in_o the_o word_n to_o promise_v but_o the_o hebrews_n do_v take_v it_o to_o be_v full_o resolve_v to_o stand_v firm_a and_o constant_a in_o a_o matter_n to_o the_o end_n not_o to_o vary_v or_o change_v now_o the_o second_o verse_n contain_v a_o request_n which_o david_n say_v he_o continual_o make_v i_o make_v my_o humble_a petition_n in_o thy_o presence_n with_o my_o whole_a hart_n be_v merciful_a unto_o i_o according_a to_o thy_o word_n now_o in_o say_v that_o he_o continual_o pray_v unto_o god_n herein_o he_o show_v we_o what_o the_o manner_n be_v to_o pray_v well_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v constant_a to_o follow_v it_o and_o not_o too_o be_v weary_a not_o that_o god_n need_v to_o be_v importunate_o urge_v but_o it_o be_v to_o exercise_v our_o faith_n and_o the_o better_a to_o try_v we_o whether_o we_o seek_v all_o our_o felicity_n in_o he_o or_o not_o for_o it_o be_v so_o that_o the_o holy_a scripture_n require_v constancy_n in_o our_o prayer_n especial_o and_o above_o all_o other_o thing_n and_o not_o to_o pray_v unto_o god_n this_o day_n and_o quite_o forget_v he_o to_o morrow_n but_o we_o must_v continue_v if_o we_o will_v be_v hear_v and_o lo_o wherein_o we_o must_v show_v ourselves_o to_o have_v trust_v in_o god_n that_o be_v that_o although_o it_o seem_v to_o we_o that_o he_o have_v stop_v his_o ear_n yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o must_v not_o cease_v too_o go_v continual_o unto_o he_o and_o pray_v unto_o he_o a_o hundred_o time_n asmuch_o as_o we_o do_v before_o know_v it_o to_o be_v no_o superfluous_a labour_n when_o as_o we_o have_v thus_o pray_v loe_o here_o as_o touch_v the_o perseverance_n whereof_o david_n in_o this_o place_n speak_v now_o set_v we_o see_v what_o the_o substance_n of_o his_o prayer_n be_v o_o lord_n say_v he_o be_v merciful_a unto_o i_o according_a to_o thy_o word_n the_o request_n be_v general_a but_o david_n show_v the_o very_a springhead_n of_o all_o the_o benefit_n which_o we_o be_v too_o crave_v of_o god_n and_o which_o also_o he_o lyberal_o bestow_v upon_o we_o aswell_o for_o our_o soul_n as_o for_o our_o body_n too_o wit_n that_o he_o be_v merciful_a unto_o us._n for_o god_n owe_v we_o nothing_o neither_o can_v we_o bring_v any_o thing_n with_o we_o whereby_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o say_v that_o we_o can_v provoke_v ourselves_o too_o do_v well_o but_o this_o be_v the_o whole_a sum_n that_o he_o use_v it_o towards_o we_o of_o his_o mere_a and_o free_a liberality_n let_v we_o then_o mark_v that_o david_n his_o meaning_n be_v to_o show_v that_o when_o god_n reach_v forth_o his_o hand_n liberal_o to_o bestow_v upon_o we_o so_o many_o benefit_n as_o we_o receive_v of_o he_o that_o the_o same_o proceed_v and_o come_v even_o from_o his_o mere_a goodness_n loe_o why_o he_o say_v o_o lord_n be_v merciful_a unto_o i_o whetfore_o whatsoever_o thing_n we_o desire_v of_o god_n we_o must_v always_o come_v with_o this_o mind_n to_o trust_v in_o his_o goodness_n as_o how_o we_o must_v desire_v god_n to_o pardon_v our_o offence_n and_o to_o assist_v we_o with_o his_o holy_a spirit_n we_o must_v beseech_v he_o that_o we_o be_v not_o overcome_v with_o temptation_n that_o he_o will_v give_v we_o his_o grace_n whereof_o we_o be_v empty_a and_o naked_a that_o he_o will_v feed_v we_o that_o he_o will_v heal_v we_o when_o we_o be_v sick_a that_o he_o will_v keep_v we_o out_o of_o danger_n or_o we_o may_v make_v any_o other_o or_o particular_a prayer_n whatsoever_o all_o these_o request_n must_v be_v draw_v out_o of_o the_o springheade_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o give_v we_o this_o of_o his_o own_o goodness_n and_o that_o we_o know_v why_o it_o be_v that_o god_n give_v we_o so_o many_o benefit_n aswell_o for_o this_o present_a life_n as_o also_o for_o the_o health_n of_o our_o soul_n to_o wit_n because_o he_o have_v pity_n and_o compassion_n upon_o we_o and_o that_o we_o be_v miserable_a and_o poor_a creature_n without_o he_o incline_v himself_o to_o be_v merciful_a unto_o us._n to_o be_v short_a before_o we_o enter_v into_o all_o the_o particular_a prayer_n which_o we_o make_v untof_o god_n let_v we_o begin_v at_o this_o end_n and_o let_v it_o be_v the_o foundation_n whereon_o we_o must_v build_v that_o god_n have_v pity_n and_o compassion_n upon_o us._n now_o because_o we_o shall_v be_v assure_v in_o our_o prayer_n david_n add_v this_o which_o heal_v ready_a before_o say_v to_o wit_n according_a too_o thy_o word_n for_o if_o we_o desire_v of_o god_n that_o which_o seem_v good_a in_o our_o own_o eye_n and_o that_o we_o have_v not_o his_o promise_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v we_o this_o come_v of_o presumption_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v come_v humble_o and_o sober_o with_o our_o prayer_n and_o not_o after_o a_o wander_a and_o careless_a manner_n neither_o must_v we_o come_v before_o god_n with_o shameless_a face_n and_o boldely_a than_o we_o will_v come_v before_o man_n but_o too_o come_v unto_o he_o in_o such_o modeste_n and_o sober_a manner_n as_o that_o nothing_o escape_v our_o mouth_n without_o good_a warrant_n which_o thing_n we_o be_v not_o able_a too_o do_v except_o we_o be_v assure_v that_o all_o our_o prayer_n be_v according_a to_o his_o heart_n desire_n and_o that_o he_o allow_v and_o ratifi_v they_o and_o how_o shall_v this_o be_v do_v when_o as_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v that_o we_o shall_v not_o follow_v our_o own_o brain_n give_v the_o reins_n too_o our_o own_o wit_n but_o that_o when_o god_n shall_v say_v loe_o what_o i_o will_v have_v you_o to_o crave_v of_o i_o come_v untoo_o i_o and_o make_v your_o request_n in_o this_o sort_n o_o according_a too_o those_o promise_n of_o god_n we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o to_o come_v unto_o he_o after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n and_o say_v o_o
