work_n this_o be_v just_a at_o their_o rejection_n and_o again_o in_o mat._n 25.11_o they_o cry_v again_o to_o he_o even_o to_o jesus_n lord_n lord_n open_a to_o we_o and_o he_o there_o again_o give_v they_o a_o repulse_n as_o also_o in_o this_o parable_n but_o however_o or_o whosoever_o abraham_n be_v yet_o these_o truth_n may_v be_v observe_v from_o the_o word_n 1._o that_o the_o damn_a when_o in_o a_o irrecoverable_a estate_n will_v seek_v for_o or_o desire_v deliverance_n from_o the_o wrath_n that_o they_o be_v and_o shall_v be_v in_o for_o eternity_n 2._o that_o they_o will_v pray_v if_o come_v wherein_o though_o man_n shall_v both_o cry_v and_o pray_v yet_o they_o be_v like_a to_o have_v no_o mercy_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n for_o so_o be_v this_o man_n serve_v as_o i_o shall_v further_o show_v by_o and_o by_o when_o i_o come_v to_o it_o some_o people_n be_v so_o delude_v by_o the_o devil_n as_o to_o think_v that_o god_n be_v so_o merciful_a as_o to_o own_o or_o regard_v any_o thing_n for_o prayer_n they_o think_v any_o thing_n will_v go_v for_o currant_n and_o good_a satisfaction_n while_o they_o be_v here_o in_o this_o world_n through_o ignorance_n of_o the_o true_a nature_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o the_o knowledge_n in_o what_o way_n god_n be_v satisfy_v for_o sinner_n now_o i_o say_v through_o ignorance_n they_o think_v that_o if_o they_o do_v but_o mutter_v over_o some_o form_n of_o prayer_n though_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o say_v nor_o what_o they_o request_v yet_o god_n be_v satisfy_v yea_o very_o well_o satisfy_v with_o their_o do_n when_o alas_o there_o be_v nothing_o less_o o_o friend_n i_o beseech_v you_o to_o look_v about_o you_o and_o seek_v in_o good_a earnest_n for_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n so_o to_o help_v you_o now_o to_o strive_v and_o pray_v and_o to_o enable_v you_o to_o lay_v hold_n of_o christ_n that_o your_o soul_n may_v be_v save_v lest_o the_o time_n come_v that_o though_o you_o cry_v and_o pray_v and_o wish_v also_o that_o you_o have_v lay_v hold_v on_o the_o lord_n jesus_n yet_o you_o must_v and_o shall_v be_v damn_v then_o again_o you_o may_v see_v that_o though_o god_n be_v willing_a to_o save_v sinner_n at_o some_o time_n yet_o this_o time_n do_v not_o always_o last_o no_o he_o that_o can_v find_v in_o his_o heart_n to_o turn_v his_o back_n upon_o jesus_n christ_n now_o shall_v have_v the_o back_n turn_v upon_o he_o hereafter_o when_o he_o may_v cry_v and_o pray_v for_o mercy_n and_o yet_o go_v without_o it_o god_n will_v have_v a_o time_n to_o meet_v with_o they_o that_o now_o do_v seek_v after_o he_o they_o shall_v have_v a_o time_n yea_o time_n enough_o hereafter_o to_o repent_v their_o folly_n and_o to_o befool_v themselves_o for_o turn_v their_o back_n upon_o the_o shall_v send_v two_o or_o three_o of_o his_o servant_n the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o hell_n among_o the_o damn_a with_o this_o commission_n go_v you_o to_o hell_n and_o preach_v my_o grace_n to_o those_o that_o be_v there_o let_v your_o sermon_n be_v a_o hour_n long_o and_o hold_v forth_o the_o merit_n of_o my_o son_n birth_n righteousness_n death_n resurrection_n ascension_n nay_o year_n in_o reject_v the_o son_n of_o god_n will_v now_o be_v glad_a of_o one_o tender_a of_o that_o mercy_n father_n say_v he_o have_v mercy_n on_o i_o again_o from_o these_o word_n you_o may_v observe_v that_o mercy_n will_v be_v welcome_a when_o soul_n be_v under_o judgement_n now_o his_o soul_n be_v in_o the_o fire_n now_o he_o be_v under_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n now_o he_o be_v in_o hell_n there_o to_o be_v torment_v now_o he_o be_v with_o the_o devil_n and_o damn_a spirit_n now_o he_o feel_v the_o vengeance_n of_o god_n now_o oh_o now_o have_v mercy_n on_o i_o here_o you_o may_v see_v again_o that_o mercy_n be_v prize_v by_o they_o that_o be_v in_o hell_n they_o will_v be_v glad_a if_o they_o can_v have_v it_o father_n have_v mercy_n on_o i_o for_o my_o poor_a soul_n sake_n send_v i_o a_o little_a mercy_n and_o send_v lazarus_n that_o he_o may_v dip_v th●_n tip_v of_o his_o finger_n in_o water_n and_o cool_v my_o tongue_n these_o word_n do_v not_o only_o hold_v forth_o that_o the_o ungodly_a have_v a_o desire_n of_o mercy_n but_o what_o those_o mercy_n be_v that_o these_o poor_a creature_n will_v be_v glad_a of_o as_o first_o to_o have_v the_o company_n of_o a_o lazarus_n grant_v to_o they_o father_n abraham_n have_v mercy_n upon_o i_o and_o send_v lazarus_n now_o lazarus_n be_v he_o that_o be_v belove_v of_o god_n and_o also_o he_o that_o be_v hate_v of_o the_o law_n real_o they_o do_v not_o also_o believe_v real_o and_o effectual_o the_o law_n that_o do_v condemn_v they_o for_o as_o man_n have_v but_o a_o notion_n of_o the_o one_o that_o be_v their_o condemnation_n because_o of_o sin_n against_o the_o law_n 3_o verse_n 3_o so_o they_o have_v but_o a_o notion_n of_o the_o condemn_a kill_a and_o destroy_a power_n of_o the_o law_n for_o as_o the_o one_o be_v so_o in_o these_o thing_n always_o be_v the_o other_o there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o do_v real_o believe_v the_o law_n or_o gospel_n further_o than_o they_o do_v feel_v the_o power_n and_o authority_n of_o they_o in_o their_o heart_n you_o err_v not_o know_v the_o scripture_n nor_o the_o power_n of_o god_n now_o this_o letter_n or_o law_n be_v not_o to_o be_v take_v in_o the_o large_a sense_n but_o be_v strict_o to_o be_v tie_v to_o the_o ten_o commandment_n who_o proper_a work_n be_v only_o by_o show_v the_o soul_n its_o sin_n against_o this_o law_n to_o kill_v and_o there_o leave_v he_o stark_o dead_a not_o give_v he_o the_o least_o life_n or_o support_v or_o comfort_n but_o leave_v the_o soul_n in_o a_o helpless_a and_o hopeless_a condition_n as_o from_o itself_o or_o any_o other_o mere_a creature_n it_o be_v true_a the_o law_n have_v lay_v all_o man_n for_o dead_a as_o they_o come_v into_o the_o world_n but_o all_o man_n do_v not_o see_v themselves_o dead_a until_o they_o see_v that_o law_n that_o strike_v they_o dead_a stick_v in_o their_o soul_n and_o have_v strike_v they_o that_o fatal_a blow_n as_o a_o man_n that_o be_v fast_o asleep_a in_o a_o house_n and_o that_o on_o fire_n about_o his_o ear_n and_o he_o not_o know_v of_o it_o because_o he_o be_v asleep_a even_o so_o because_o poor_a soul_n be_v asleep_a in_o sin_n though_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n 31._o verse_n 31._o the_o curse_n of_o his_o law_n and_o the_o flame_n of_o hell_n have_v beset_v they_o round_o about_o yet_o they_o do_v not_o believe_v it_o because_o they_o be_v asleep_a in_o sin_n now_o he_o that_o be_v awaken_v and_o see_v this_o sees_z that_o through_o this_o he_o be_v a_o dead_a man_n even_o so_o they_o that_o do_v see_v their_o state_n by_o nature_n be_v such_o a_o sad_a condition_n do_v also_o see_v themselves_o by_o that_o law_n to_o be_v dead_a man_n natural_o but_o now_o when_o do_v thou_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o this_o first_o part_n of_o the_o scripture_n the_o law_n so_o mighty_a as_o to_o strike_v thou_o dead_a if_o not_o thou_o do_v not_o so_o much_o as_o very_o believe_v that_o part_n of_o scripture_n that_o do_v contain_v the_o law_n in_o it_o to_o be_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n yet_o if_o thou_o shall_v have_v feel_v something_o i_o say_v something_o of_o the_o kill_a power_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n in_o thy_o heart_n this_o be_v not_o a_o argument_n to_o prove_v that_o thou_o believe_v all_o the_o thing_n contain_v in_o scripture_n for_o there_o be_v gospel_n as_o well_o as_o law_n and_o therefore_o i_o shall_v speak_v to_o that_o also_o that_o be_v whether_o thou_o have_v feel_v the_o power_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o well_o as_o something_o of_o the_o power_n of_o the_o law_n 2._o then_o if_o thou_o have_v find_v the_o power_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o so_o believe_v it_o thou_o have_v find_v it_o thus_o with_o thy_o soul_n 1._o thou_o have_v be_v show_v by_o the_o word_n or_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n in_o the_o light_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n that_o by_o nature_n thou_o be_v without_o the_o true_a faith_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n in_o thy_o soul_n for_o when_o he_o the_o spirit_n be_v come_v he_o shall_v show_v man_n that_o they_o believe_v not_o in_o i_o say_v christ_n joh._n 16.9_o for_o mark_v though_o thou_o have_v as_o i_o say_v before_o feel_v somewhat_o of_o the_o power_n of_o the_o law_n letter_n or_o ten_o commandment_n yet_o if_o thou_o have_v not_o be_v bring_v to_o this_o to_o see_v by_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o gospel_n that_o thou_o be_v without_o faith_n by_o nature_n thou_o have_v not_o yet_o taste_v much_o less_o believe_v any_o part_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o law_n be_v two_o distinct_a covenant_n as_o i_o have_v before_o show_v and_o they_o that_o be_v under_o the_o law_n maybe_o convince_v by_o it_o and_o so_o believe_v the_o law_n or_o first_o covenant_n and_o yet_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n to_o be_v a_o stranger_n to_o the_o covenant_n of_o promise_n that_o be_v the_o gospel_n &_o so_o have_v no_o hope_n in_o they_o eph._n 2.12_o there_o be_v not_o any_o promise_n that_o can_v be_v save_o believe_v until_o the_o soul_n be_v by_o the_o gospel_n convert_v to_o jesus_n christ_n for_o though_o man_n do_v think_v never_o so_o much_o that_o they_o believe_v the_o thing_n of_o the_o gospel_n or_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o our_o salvation_n yet_o unless_o they_o have_v the_o work_n of_o grace_n in_o their_o soul_n they_o do_v not_o can_v right_o believe_v the_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o scripture_n again_o as_o the_o law_n kill_v those_o that_o believe_v it_o even_o so_o the_o promise_v contain_v in_o the_o gospel_n do_v through_o faith_n administer_v comfort_n to_o those_o that_o believe_v it_o aright_o my_o word_n say_v christ_n my_o word_n they_o be_v spirit_n and_o they_o mark_n and_o they_o be_v life_n joh._n 6.63_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v the_o word_n contain_v in_o in_o the_o law_n as_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n they_o wound_v they_o kill_v they_o strike_v dead_a those_o that_o be_v under_o they_o but_o as_o for_o i_o the_o word_n that_o i_o speak_v unto_o you_o they_o be_v spirit_n and_o they_o be_v life_n that_o be_v whosoever_o do_v receive_v they_o believe_o shall_v find_v they_o full_a of_o operation_n to_o comfort_n quicken_v and_o revive_v o_o how_o sweet_a be_v it_o o_o how_o comfortable_a to_o those_o that_o believe_v they_o alas_o there_o be_v many_o poor_a soul_n that_o think_v they_o believe_v the_o scripture_n that_o they_o believe_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o poor_a soul_n that_o they_o be_v they_o never_o enjoy_v any_o thing_n of_o the_o life_n and_o power_n of_o the_o promise_n to_o comfort_v they_o after_o they_o be_v kill_v by_o the_o law_n for_o mark_v if_o thy_o comfort_n be_v indeed_o by_o the_o promise_n they_o come_v in_o upon_o thy_o heart_n to_o quicken_v to_o revive_v thou_o to_o raise_v thou_o from_o the_o sentence_n of_o death_n that_o be_v pass_v on_o thou_o by_o the_o law_n and_o through_o the_o faith_n that_o be_v wrought_v in_o thy_o soul_n by_o the_o operation_n of_o god_n holy_a spirit_n though_o once_o kill_v by_o the_o law_n or_o letter_n thou_o be_v make_v alive_a in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n present_v to_o thy_o soul_n in_o the_o promise_n 3._o do_v thou_o indeed_o if_o thou_o do_v believe_v the_o gospel_n too_o than_o thy_o life_n will_v be_v the_o faith_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n that_o be_v either_o thou_o will_v live_v in_o the_o bless_a and_o holy_a enjoyment_n of_o what_o be_v testify_v in_o the_o scripture_n concern_v the_o glorious_a thing_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n or_o else_o thou_o will_v be_v exceed_o pant_a after_o they_o for_o the_o scripture_n carry_v such_o a_o bless_a beauty_n in_o they_o to_o that_o soul_n that_o have_v faith_n in_o the_o thing_n contain_v in_o they_o that_o they_o do_v take_v the_o heart_n and_o captivate_v the_o soul_n of_o he_o that_o believe_v they_o into_o the_o love_n and_o like_n of_o they_o 6._o he_o that_o believe_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n if_o he_o do_v but_o suppose_v that_o any_o one_o place_n of_o the_o scripture_n do_v exclude_v he_o and_o shut_v he_o out_o of_o and_o from_o a_o share_n in_o the_o promise_v contain_v in_o they_o o_o it_o will_v trouble_v he_o grieve_v he_o perplex_v he_o yea_o he_o will_v not_o be_v satisfy_v until_o he_o be_v resolve_v and_o th●_n contrary_a seal_v to_o his_o soul_n for_o he_o know●_n that_o the_o promise_n of_o their_o adversary_n when_o they_o will_v have_v overcome_v they_o with_o proffer_v the_o great_a thing_n of_o this_o world_n unto_o they_o and_o also_o their_o threaten_n when_o they_o tell_v they_o they_o will_v rack_v they_o hang_v they_o burn_v they_o none_o of_o these_o thing_n can_v prevail_v upon_o they_o or_o against_o they_o because_o they_o do_v most_o real_o believe_v the_o scripture_n &_o the_o thing_n contain_v in_o they_o as_o be_v clear_o find_v and_o to_o be_v see_v in_o heb._n 11._o and_o also_o in_o mr._n fox_n his_o record_n of_o their_o brethren_n 7._o he_o that_o believe_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n believe_v that_o man_n must_v be_v bear_v again_o and_o have_v that_o faith_n which_o be_v of_o the_o operation_n of_o god_n or_o else_o they_o can_v be_v save_v and_o he_o that_o believe_v this_o believe_v also_o that_o if_o he_o be_v not_o bear_v again_o and_o also_o be_v partaker_n of_o that_o faith_n which_o be_v of_o the_o operation_n of_o god_n according_a as_o he_o have_v read_v and_o believe_v he_o must_v and_o shall_v be_v damn_v and_o he_o that_o believe_v this_o aright_o will_v not_o be_v content_v until_o according_a as_o it_o be_v write_v he_o do_v partake_v of_o and_o enjoy_v the_o new_a birth_n and_o until_o he_o do_v find_v through_o grace_n that_o faith_n that_o be_v wrought_v by_o the_o operation_n of_o god_n in_o his_o soul_n for_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o man_n do_v satisfy_v themselves_o with_o so_o slender_a a_o conceit_a hope_n that_o their_o state_n be_v good_a when_o it_o be_v nothing_o so_o namely_o because_o they_o do_v not_o credit_v the_o scripture_n for_o do_v they_o they_o will_v look_v into_o their_o own_o heart_n and_o examine_v serious_o whether_o that_o faith_n that_o hope_v that_o grace_n which_o they_o think_v they_o have_v be_v of_o that_o nature_n and_o wrought_v by_o that_o spirit_n and_o power_n that_o the_o scripture_n speak_v of_o i_o speak_v this_o of_o a_o effectual_a believe_v without_o which_o all_o other_o be_v nothing_o unto_o salvation_n now_o then_o because_o i_o will_v not_o be_v too_o tedious_a i_o shall_v at_o this_o time_n
