can_v not_o but_o wish_v and_o expect_v that_o his_o hide_v shall_v be_v but_o for_o a_o set_a time_n after_o which_o god_n will_v remember_v he_o now_o here_o he_o prosecute_v this_o his_o confidence_n and_o dwell_v upon_o the_o thought_n of_o his_o sweet_a and_o comfortable_a condition_n if_o his_o desire_n be_v grant_v for_o whereas_o now_o his_o step_n be_v number_v and_o his_o sin_n admonition_n 1._o it_o distemper_v he_o that_o he_o apprehend_v god_n angry_a when_o he_o be_v not_o as_o ordinary_o it_o be_v our_o fault_n that_o our_o own_o spirit_n become_v a_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n to_o we_o when_o the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n be_v our_o allowance_n 2._o it_o be_v his_o weakness_n to_o think_v that_o any_o condition_n even_o the_o grant_n of_o this_o strange_a wish_n be_v better_a and_o more_o fit_a for_o he_o then_o his_o present_a lot_n which_o be_v carve_v out_o by_o god_n it_o be_v our_o presumption_n ordinary_o to_o reflect_v upon_o god_n guide_v of_o we_o and_o to_o reckon_v that_o any_o thing_n be_v better_a than_o what_o he_o do_v 3._o it_o be_v his_o mistake_n to_o think_v that_o such_o a_o change_n of_o his_o condition_n be_v needful_a to_o bring_v he_o ease_v and_o relief_n see_v a_o change_n of_o his_o condition_n within_o like_o that_o v._o 14._o will_v afford_v he_o more_o certain_a and_o speedy_a help_n we_o often_o toil_v ourselves_o seek_v ease_n in_o the_o change_n of_o our_o outward_a lot_n when_o it_o may_v be_v find_v near_o at_o hand_n in_o get_v our_o spirit_n in_o a_o right_a frame_n 4._o it_o be_v his_o fault_n to_o wish_v this_o out-gate_n which_o be_v impossible_a by_o the_o ordinary_a course_n of_o nature_n establish_v by_o god_n as_o himself_o judge_v of_o it_o v._o 14._o and_o that_o ordinary_a appoint_a satisfy_v unless_o god_n do_v some_o extraordinary_a and_o singular_a thing_n for_o we_o doct._n 4._o in_o the_o sad_a conflict_n of_o tentation_n and_o sense_n faith_n and_o honesty_n will_v still_o kith_v in_o some_o measure_n in_o saint_n as_o appear_v from_o this_o very_a wish_n of_o job_n wherein_o 1._o all_o his_o apprehension_n of_o wrath_n make_v he_o not_o quit_v his_o confidence_n that_o that_o god_n ofttimes_o let_v we_o man_n pitch_v upon_o false_a challenge_n or_o false_a ground_n of_o accusation_n wherein_o we_o may_v hold_v up_o our_o face_n that_o we_o may_v the_o more_o serious_o take_v with_o true_a challenge_n upon_o true_a ground_n before_o he_o herein_o job_n be_v deficient_a who_o look_v so_o much_o to_o the_o unjust_a ground_n upon_o which_o his_o friend_n general_n that_o god_n fix_a way_n of_o providence_n shall_v not_o be_v alter_v to_o gratify_v the_o humour_n of_o man_n yet_o he_o err_v in_o the_o application_n think_v that_o which_o he_o assert_v that_o god_n afflict_v only_o the_o wicked_a as_o he_o do_v job_n to_o be_v the_o fix_a course_n of_o god_n providence_n unalterable_a as_o a_o rock_n it_o be_v true_a god_n order_n be_v firm_a so_o as_o not_o to_o be_v alter_v at_o man_n pleasure_n yet_o it_o be_v not_o true_a that_o this_o be_v god_n order_n it_o teach_v that_o error_n may_v be_v very_o powerful_a and_o effectual_a upon_o man_n and_o may_v cause_v they_o to_o look_v upon_o that_o as_o a_o very_a certain_a truth_n which_o be_v indeed_o a_o very_a gross_a mistake_n and_o error_n such_o as_o be_v bildad_n opinion_n here_o which_o warn_v man_n to_o try_v and_o examine_v their_o opinion_n well_o even_o those_o wherein_o they_o think_v they_o have_v a_o firm_a persuasion_n have_v thus_o clear_v these_o mistake_n if_o we_o look_v upon_o this_o purpose_n in_o general_n and_o in_o itself_o abstract_v from_o his_o misapplication_n and_o from_o his_o particular_a opinion_n concern_v god_n providence_n it_o may_v afford_v we_o these_o sound_a instruction_n 1._o the_o ordinary_a result_n of_o sharp_a affliction_n be_v passion_n and_o impatient_a fret_v at_o our_o lot_n for_o bildad_n suppose_v that_o anger_n be_v job_n frame_n whereof_o too_o many_o be_v guilty_a under_o affliction_n as_o he_o be_v also_o in_o part_n pride_n want_v of_o submission_n and_o unwillingness_n to_o be_v afflict_v fullness_n of_o lust_n carnal_a discouragement_n and_o even_o weakness_n in_o saint_n and_o the_o irritation_n they_o meet_v with_o be_v apt_a to_o breed_v much_o passion_n instead_o of_o other_o exercise_n and_o to_o break_v the_o spirit_n when_o it_o shall_v stoop_v and_o bow_v thus_o be_v it_o with_o jonah_n jon._n 4.1_o 9_o and_o thus_o be_v it_o especial_o with_o the_o wicked_a as_o be_v foretell_v rev._n will_v oppose_v and_o cure_v it_o in_o other_o will_v hardly_o know_v to_o what_o hand_n to_o turn_v they_o or_o where_o to_o begin_v for_o in_o this_o challenge_n bildad_o begin_v with_o complain_v of_o job_n to_o his_o friend_n honorio_n tear_v etc._n etc._n and_o then_o turn_v to_o complain_v of_o this_o fault_n to_o himself_o shall_v the_o earth_n be_v forsake_v for_o thou_o as_o hardly_o know_v what_o course_n to_o take_v or_o how_o to_o get_v in_o upon_o he_o see_v chap._n 4.2_o it_o be_v true_a bildad_o mistake_v job_n in_o part_n yet_o this_o be_v a_o certain_a truth_n that_o man_n in_o passion_n shall_v consider_v that_o they_o be_v under_o a_o distemper_n and_o therefore_o when_o any_o thing_n speak_v to_o they_o please_v they_o not_o they_o shall_v consider_v that_o the_o cause_n of_o it_o may_v be_v their_o own_o distemper_a taste_n they_o likewise_o who_o have_v such_o to_o deal_v with_o will_v remember_v that_o it_o be_v a_o task_n too_o hard_o for_o they_o till_o they_o put_v themselves_o in_o god_n hand_n 3._o when_o man_n look_v aright_o upon_o their_o lot_n and_o condition_n they_o will_v find_v that_o the_o sting_n and_o bitterness_n of_o their_o cross_n lie_v in_o their_o own_o impatience_n which_o distemper_v their_o soul_n and_o spirit_n for_o say_v he_o he_o tear_v himself_o or_o his_o soul_n in_o his_o anger_n many_o thing_n we_o fret_v at_o in_o our_o impatient_a fit_n and_o distemper_n which_o be_v not_o real_a affliction_n but_o how_o ill_a soever_o we_o relish_v they_o real_a mercy_n tend_v to_o our_o own_o and_o other_o good_a and_o he_o make_v shipwreck_n of_o more_o than_o trouble_n can_v deprive_v he_o of_o if_o this_o be_v well_o study_v we_o will_v find_v that_o patience_n and_o submission_n be_v a_o compendious_a way_n to_o get_v ease_n and_o a_o remedy_n of_o all_o that_o ail_v we_o and_o for_o attain_v thereof_o the_o follow_a instruction_n concern_v the_o providence_n of_o god_n will_v afford_v some_o help_n and_o to_o lie_v under_o god_n afflict_a hand_n for_o as_o see_v of_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n as_o have_v be_v mark_v afford_v some_o ground_n of_o comfort_n in_o trouble_n so_o it_o also_o represent_v such_o a_o case_n as_o humble_v and_o therefore_o job_n sum_v up_o all_o his_o affliction_n in_o this_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n have_v touch_v i_o it_o be_v very_o sad_a to_o a_o child_n of_o god_n and_o will_v affect_v he_o that_o god_n shall_v deal_v so_o with_o he_o especial_o if_o his_o stroke_n be_v also_o sharp_a and_o saint_n may_v try_v their_o piety_n by_o consider_v how_o they_o stand_v affect_v with_o a_o sight_n of_o god_n hand_n in_o their_o rods._n and_o if_o this_o be_v sad_a to_o the_o godly_a much_o more_o will_v it_o be_v sad_a to_o the_o wicked_a when_o they_o fall_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o live_a god_n heb._n 10.31_o 5._o when_o god_n hand_n be_v sad_o lie_v upon_o any_o of_o his_o child_n dear_a friend_n can_v help_v they_o may_v well_o pity_v they_o and_o it_o be_v well_o if_o they_o do_v not_o worse_o for_o whatever_o supply_v friend_n may_v afford_v in_o some_o outward_a necessity_n yet_o in_o such_o a_o condition_n as_o he_o be_v all_o that_o can_v be_v expect_v and_o crave_v of_o they_o be_v pity_n it_o be_v only_a god_n come_v and_o appear_v that_o will_v heal_v such_o stroke_n of_o his_o own_o hand_n and_o saint_n shall_v not_o mistake_v though_o among_o all_o their_o friend_n hand_n and_o notwithstanding_o all_o their_o pity_n their_o affliction_n continue_v till_o god_n come_v 6._o it_o be_v much_o to_o a_o afflict_a man_n if_o he_o find_v sympathy_n and_o pity_n among_o friend_n for_o job_n crave_v have_v pity_n upon_o i_o as_o a_o favour_n and_o kindness_n they_o who_o meet_v with_o that_o in_o trouble_n shall_v prize_v it_o as_o a_o favour_n which_o be_v not_o afford_v to_o every_o one_o in_o the_o like_a case_n psal_n 69.20_o and_o they_o be_v not_o idle_a nor_o useless_o employ_v who_o be_v busy_a at_o simpathize_v with_o the_o afflict_a though_o they_o can_v do_v no_o more_o 7._o friendship_n and_o profess_a love_n oblige_v man_n to_o the_o duty_n of_o sympathy_n with_o their_o friend_n in_o trouble_n for_o job_n claim_v it_o upon_o this_o account_n have_v pity_n upon_o i_o o_o you_o my_o friend_n 8._o though_o they_o have_v grieve_v he_o and_o prove_v unfriendly_a yet_o here_o he_o call_v they_o friend_n at_o first_o and_o plead_v and_o entreat_v that_o they_o will_v do_v duty_n for_o time_n to_o come_v this_o he_o do_v not_o only_o to_o check_v they_o who_o be_v friend_n and_o neglect_a
