want_v assure_v evidence_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o grace_n in_o you_o again_o you_o do_v not_o only_o want_v comfort_n but_o you_o be_v disenable_v to_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o growth_n in_o righteousness_n by_o discouragement_n discouragement_n be_v to_o the_o people_n of_o god_n as_o the_o cold_a wind_n and_o frost_n be_v to_o young_a bud_n and_o whence_o come_v discouragement_n because_o people_n be_v not_o assure_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o their_o grace_n and_o not_o only_o so_o but_o last_o you_o be_v not_o so_o careful_a and_o thankful_a to_o god_n as_o you_o shall_v scripture_n give_v you_o whereby_o you_o may_v try_v yourselves_o do_v not_o think_v that_o it_o be_v a_o irregular_a way_n to_o put_v people_n upon_o sign_n and_o trial_n i_o confess_v there_o be_v some_o particular_a case_n wherein_o it_o be_v not_o safe_a for_o some_o particular_a person_n at_o that_o time_n and_o in_o that_o case_n to_o put_v they_o to_o try_v themselves_o by_o sign_n but_o duty_n master_n to_o they_o old_a man_n and_o woman_n to_o they_o all_o to_o deny_v ungodliness_n and_o worldy_a lust_n and_o to_o live_v sober_o and_o righteous_o in_o this_o present_a world_n now_o to_o persuade_v they_o to_o this_o he_o bring_v in_o this_o of_o the_o text_n for_o say_v he_o christ_n give_v himself_o for_o this_o end_n to_o redeem_v we_o from_o all_o iniquity_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v will_v you_o not_o make_v good_a the_o end_n of_o christ_n when_o christ_n have_v so_o much_o desire_v to_o redeem_v you_o from_o all_o iniquity_n that_o to_o effect_v it_o he_o have_v righteousness_n that_o which_o be_v elsewhere_o in_o the_o scripture_n call_v the_o divine_a nature_n or_o the_o seed_n of_o god_n or_o grace_n or_o holiness_n or_o the_o like_a original_a holiness_n or_o righteousness_n be_v that_o which_o i_o take_v it_o be_v here_o mean_v by_o the_o spirit_n it_o be_v so_o call_v john_n 3.6_o that_o which_o be_v bear_v of_o the_o spirit_n be_v spirit_n and_o and_o therefore_o we_o need_v not_o spend_v further_a time_n in_o the_o exposition_n but_o will_v fall_v direct_o upon_o the_o doctrine_n which_o be_v this_o in_o whosoever_o christ_n be_v there_o holy_a spirit_n again_o for_o the_o virtue_n and_o life_n of_o christ_n you_o know_v it_o be_v the_o life_n of_o righteousness_n therefore_o wherever_o this_o be_v there_o must_v be_v a_o life_n of_o righteousness_n in_o that_o man_n last_o of_o all_o the_o truth_n of_o this_o will_v appear_v from_o the_o consideration_n of_o that_o communion_n with_o christ_n and_o conformity_n to_o he_o that_o all_o those_o must_v have_v which_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o christ_n in_o they_o wherein_o they_o must_v have_v a_o communion_n with_o and_o a_o conformity_n to_o christ_n saint_n paul_n show_v rom._n 6._o from_o the_o three_o verse_n to_o the_o twelve_o in_o the_o three_o verse_n he_o lay_v down_o that_o union_n by_o faith_n which_o all_o justify_v person_n have_v with_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o from_o this_o he_o infer_v a_o communion_n with_o he_o and_o a_o conformity_n unto_o he_o but_o in_o what_o in_o his_o death_n and_o in_o his_o resurrection_n if_o we_o have_v be_v plant_v together_o say_v he_o v._o 5._o in_o the_o likeness_n of_o his_o death_n mark_v not_o in_o the_o same_o death_n but_o in_o the_o likeness_n thereof_o we_o shall_v be_v also_o in_o the_o duty_n of_o all_o people_n to_o look_v to_o sign_n and_o to_o try_v themselves_o by_o they_o and_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o but_o this_o that_o be_v in_o the_o text_n i_o think_v it_o be_v a_o unanswerable_a argument_n to_o confute_v they_o that_o cry_v out_o against_o sign_n and_o evidence_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o grace_n do_v not_o the_o apostle_n paul_n as_o plain_a as_o any_o man_n in_o the_o world_n can_v put_v they_o upon_o the_o trial_n of_o themselves_o by_o sign_n tell_v they_o that_o if_o they_o have_v such_o and_o such_o thing_n in_o they_o they_o be_v in_o a_o good_a christ_n tell_v they_o that_o one_o of_o the_o twelve_o shall_v betray_v he_o and_o shall_v not_o we_o be_v careful_a to_o try_v ourselves_o when_o as_o the_o scripture_n tell_v we_o that_o scarce_o their_o want_n of_o watchfulness_n and_o fear_v and_o carefulness_n but_o a_o great_a many_o do_v fall_v and_o fall_v scandalous_o yea_o many_o give_v all_o cause_n of_o fear_n that_o there_o never_o profession_n of_o religion_n therefore_o let_v we_o not_o make_v that_o use_n of_o the_o fall_v of_o holy_a man_n as_o the_o people_n of_o the_o world_n do_v if_o there_o be_v any_o that_o fall_v into_o any_o scandalous_a sin_n and_o manifest_v himself_o to_o be_v naught_o at_o the_o heart_n what_o use_n do_v the_o world_n make_v of_o it_o to_o fly_v upon_o god_n and_o upon_o religion_n and_o upon_o all_o professor_n of_o piety_n and_o upon_o the_o minister_n and_o preacher_n of_o the_o word_n oh_o say_v they_o this_o be_v their_o religion_n they_o be_v all_o but_o hypocrite_n this_o will_v never_o make_v this_o use_n of_o the_o fall_v and_o scandal_n of_o these_o man_n for_o first_o of_o all_o how_o can_v it_o blemish_n god_n or_o religion_n or_o good_a man_n because_o some_o that_o seem_v to_o be_v good_a and_o be_v not_o good_a do_v discover_v their_o rottenness_n and_o unsoundness_n by_o their_o fall_n what_o kind_n of_o blemish_n be_v it_o to_o the_o holy_a apostle_n and_o to_o the_o believer_n in_o the_o primitive_a church_n that_o some_o that_o be_v among_o they_o do_v go_v out_o from_o they_o what_o kind_n of_o blemish_n be_v it_o to_o the_o twelve_o apostle_n that_o one_o who_o christ_n keep_v familiar_a company_n with_o and_o be_v conversant_a with_o the_o apostle_n as_o brethren_n do_v prove_v a_o hypocrite_n be_v judas_n his_o desperate_a fall_n a_o sign_n that_o the_o religion_n and_o preach_v of_o christ_n be_v naught_o and_o the_o other_o disciple_n hypocrite_n none_o dare_v say_v so_o and_o if_o it_o be_v not_o then_o why_o shall_v it_o now_o people_n so_o further_o if_o so_o be_v that_o the_o world_n be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o gospel_n and_o work_n of_o god_n they_o will_v know_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v decree_v from_o all_o eternity_n that_o in_o all_o age_n of_o the_o church_n some_o that_o have_v be_v eminent_a in_o profession_n shall_v fall_v away_o there_o must_v be_v offence_n and_o scandal_n give_v the_o lord_n kind_n the_o course_n of_o his_o life_n be_v not_o with_o so_o much_o power_n and_o fullness_n of_o grace_n it_o may_v be_v as_o another_o yet_o there_o be_v the_o same_o true_a grace_n and_o the_o same_o practice_n in_o the_o kind_n of_o it_o for_o truth_n however_o in_o degree_n it_o differ_v here_o by_o way_n of_o caution_n i_o will_v suggest_v too_o thing_n to_o you_o 1._o that_o howsoever_o all_o believer_n have_v the_o self_n same_o nature_n of_o faith_n yet_o all_o must_v not_o look_v to_o have_v the_o same_o measure_n of_o faith_n and_o the_o same_o degree_n of_o work_n 2._o that_o faith_n do_v not_o perform_v all_o its_o work_n at_o one_o time_n but_o grow_v to_o a_o ripeness_n upon_o several_a occasion_n a_o child_n be_v a_o perfect_a man_n in_o regard_n of_o part_n though_o not_o of_o degree_n he_o be_v able_a to_o eat_v and_o to_o see_v though_o he_o can_v walk_v and_o talk_v yet_o because_o he_o have_v a_o reasonable_a soul_n as_o well_o as_o other_o he_o will_v walk_v and_o talk_v like_o other_o in_o due_a time_n so_o howsoever_o many_o of_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n have_v not_o attain_v to_o those_o great_a action_n of_o grace_n that_o other_o have_v yet_o have_v the_o same_o spirit_n and_o principle_n of_o grace_n within_o they_o shall_v be_v enable_v hereafter_o to_o a_o further_o discharge_v of_o those_o holy_a service_n that_o god_n require_v thus_o you_o to_o the_o lure_n of_o a_o poor_a minister_n to_o be_v at_o his_o beck_n and_o to_o stand_v at_o his_o command_n alas_o my_o brethren_n do_v you_o think_v we_o preach_v ourselves_o indeed_o in_o
