forth_o what_o their_o eye_n have_v see_v and_o ear_n hear_v and_o hand_n handle_v of_o the_o word_n of_o life_n even_o the_o same_o word_n of_o life_n which_o they_o have_v receive_v and_o this_o only_o be_v the_o effectual_a and_o powerful_a preach_v which_o flow_v from_o the_o word_n of_o life_n or_o divine_a unction_n within_o and_o not_o that_o which_o come_v only_o by_o tradition_n read_v a_o ache_a tooth_n against_o outward_a teach_v of_o as_o if_o the_o work_n and_o office_n of_o the_o gospel-ministry_n itself_o be_v the_o eyesore_a to_o we_o as_o also_o with_o dissemble_v the_o matter_n heap_v contradiction_n with_o tergiversation_n and_o shuffle_n p._n 83_o &_o 92_o &_o 94._o and_o why_o so_o but_o because_o we_o teach_v people_n give_v forth_o book_n etc._n etc._n while_o yet_o it_o be_v our_o judgement_n that_o man_n may_v be_v sufficient_o teach_v of_o god_n himself_o by_o his_o light_n and_o spirit_n within_o now_o under_o the_o new_a covenant_n p._n 93._o but_o how_o prove_v he_o this_o either_o a_o dissemble_a or_o contradiction_n when_o we_o do_v not_o pretend_v to_o preach_v teach_v or_o write_v without_o god_n teach_v and_o aid_n wherein_o we_o proclaim_v the_o sufficiency_n thereof_o exciting_a man_n to_o turn_v from_o darkness_n to_o the_o light_n and_o from_o satan_n power_n to_o god_n for_o power_n life_n spirit_n illumination_n and_o direct_v man_n to_o a_o natural_a light_n in_o they_o p._n 15._o be_v not_o true_a but_o contrary_a to_o his_o own_o citation_n before_o of_o our_o word_n that_o god_n pure_a spirit_n and_o the_o light_n of_o christ_n within_o we_o as_o both_o our_o warrant_n aâ—d_v rule_v for_o faith_n and_o obedience_n to_o the_o scripture_n which_o therefore_o can_v be_v a_o natural_a light_n in_o they_o he_o grant_v that_o jesus_n christ_n himself_o reveal_v the_o gospel_n to_o his_o apostle_n and_o after_o his_o ascension_n he_o by_o send_v they_o the_o holy_a spirit_n immediate_o inspire_v they_o attribute_v it_o viz._n the_o save_a work_n of_o grace_n to_o god_n to_o christ_n to_o the_o holy_a spirit_n p._n 18._o and_o further_o say_v indeed_o the_o work_n of_o grace_n in_o man_n be_v most_o proper_o attribute_v to_o god_n to_o christ_n because_o he_o be_v the_o principal_a cause_n of_o it_o and_o all_o other_o but_o subordinate_a yet_o the_o effect_n be_v some_o time_n attribute_v to_o subordinate_a and_o second_o cause_n also_o though_o less_o proper_o p._n 19_o so_o that_o we_o in_o attribute_v the_o save_a work_n of_o grace_n in_o man_n to_o god_n to_o christ_n we_o take_v the_o of_o god_n when_o they_o be_v come_v unto_o he_o to_o depend_v upon_o his_o teach_v as_o his_o instrument_n be_v in_o their_o ministry_n and_o this_o man_n have_v confess_v a_o concurrence_n of_o the_o operation_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o good_a spirit_n together_o with_o the_o rational_a evidence_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o persuade_v man_n p._n 15._o and_o be_v not_o this_o grace_n and_o good_a spirit_n immediate_n when_o it_o operate_v in_o the_o heart_n &_o though_o god_n be_v please_v to_o make_v use_n of_o instrument_n for_o the_o help_n and_o advantage_n of_o the_o weak_a it_o follow_v not_o that_o either_o there_o shall_v be_v always_o need_v of_o such_o a_o mediate_a way_n of_o help_n or_o that_o he_o will_v not_o immediate_o teach_v and_o operate_v in_o and_o this_o in_o opposition_n to_o our_o way_n as_o he_o call_v it_o of_o god_n own_o immediate_a work_v p._n 16._o where_o observe_v first_o he_o limit_n the_o spirit_n be_v inward_a work_n either_o to_o the_o scripture_n or_o man_n teach_v which_o
man_n at_o law_n for_o tithe_n and_o imprison_v such_o as_o can_v for_o conscience_n sake_n to_o christ_n pay_v they_o tithe_n such_o priest_n be_v unnatural_a and_o hard-hearted_a not_o at_o all_o like_o christ_n minister_n who_o covet_v no_o man_n meat_n nor_o drink_v nor_o gold_n nor_o silver_n nor_o apparel_n but_o alas_o these_o covetous_a priest_n trouble_v and_o cumber_v man_n in_o court_n for_o tithe_n and_o cast_v man_n in_o prison_n and_o holes_n to_o the_o ruin_n of_o many_o poor_a family_n and_o cause_v divers_a to_o suffer_v in_o goal_n till_o death_n as_o they_o have_v do_v divers_a time_n for_o a_o small_a value_n these_o priest_n value_v their_o tythe-pig_n etc._n etc._n more_o than_o they_o do_v the_o live_v of_o innocent_a man_n oh_o unnatural_a inhuman_a hardheartedness_n and_o cruelty_n itself_o and_o oh_o gross_a hypocrisy_n for_o such_o as_o be_v guilty_a thereof_o to_o call_v themselves_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n &_o messenger_n of_o christ_n who_o be_v thus_o unlike_o he_o and_o his_o minister_n as_o for_o those_o that_o rob_v god_n in_o tithe_n and_o offering_n these_o be_v in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o law_n and_o first_o covenant_n when_o there_o be_v a_o commandment_n from_o god_n for_o both_o and_o to_o bring_v the_o tithe_n to_o the_o storehouse_n that_o the_o fatherless_a 29_o widow_n and_o stranger_n may_v be_v relieve_v as_o well_o as_o the_o priest_n and_o they_o rob_v god_n who_o do_v not_o bring_v their_o tithe_n to_o the_o storehouse_n but_o christ_n jesus_n the_o everlasting_a priest_n be_v come_v and_o have_v change_v the_o priesthood_n that_o take_v tithe_n &_o make_v of_o necessity_n a_o change_n also_o of_o the_o law_n and_o a_o disannul_n of_o the_o commandment_n see_v heb._n chap._n 7._o but_o i_o shall_v say_v little_a here_o about_o this_o oppression_n of_o tithe_n let_v the_o nation_n be_v long_a experience_n thereof_o speak_v and_o i_o refer_v the_o reader_n to_o these_o treatise_n viz._n a._n p._n his_o great_a case_n of_o tithe_n and_o f._n howgil_n great_a case_n of_o tithe_n and_o so_o to_o consider_v the_o rise_n and_o continuance_n of_o they_o and_o it_o be_v have_v do_v so_o to_o get_v people_n money_n by_o please_v they_o in_o prophesy_a peace_n to_o they_o when_o the_o true_a prophet_n prophesy_v of_o judgement_n and_o be_v persecute_v for_o it_o ezek._n 22._o 25_o 28._o but_o say_v he_o it_o be_v possible_a and_o too_o probable_a that_o there_o may_v be_v some_o who_o for_o worldly_n and_o fleshly_a respect_n may_v 91._o great_o fall_v corruption_n of_o some_o public_a minister_n who_o be_v worldly_a and_o fleshly_a dauber_n and_o betrayer_n i_o shall_v grant_v to_o what_o he_o further_o add_v that_o it_o be_v unreasonable_a and_o unchristian_a to_o condemn_v the_o righteous_a with_o the_o wicked_a and_o to_o censure_v all_o for_o sum_n sake_n this_o indeed_o be_v unchristian_a but_o unjust_o cast_v upon_o we_o p._n 92._o seem_v to_o plead_v for_o christ_n enjoin_v his_o follower_n to_o be_v humble_a and_o lowly_a in_o heart_n to_o esteem_v other_o better_a than_o themselves_o to_o speak_v evil_a of_o no_o man_n in_o meekness_n to_o instruct_v to_o overcome_v evil_a with_o good_a and_o not_o to_o judge_v and_o the_o like_a p._n 6._o and_o yet_o in_o contradiction_n to_o himself_o he_o take_v upon_o he_o to_o judge_v and_o vilify_v we_o to_o speak_v evil_a of_o we_o yea_o to_o have_v be_v walk_v in_o darkness_n and_o to_o be_v but_o carnal_a etc._n etc._n p._n 9_o do_v he_o not_o here_o judge_v that_o all_o the_o child_n of_o god_n be_v teach_v of_o god_n and_o need_v not_o any_o other_o teacher_n this_o our_o sense_n and_o method_n he_o oppose_v to_o god_n way_n as_o be_v quite_o different_a p._n 14._o and_o say_v that_o god_n way_n and_o method_n of_o direct_v man_n what_o to_o believe_v and_o do_v be_v not_o by_o his_o immediate_a teach_v and_o operation_n p._n 40._o but_o in_o plain_a contradiction_n to_o himself_o he_o confess_v that_o the_o scripture_n attribute_n it_o to_o wit_n the_o work_n of_o save_a grace_n to_o god_n to_o christ_n to_o the_o holy_a spirit_n p._n 18._o and_o say_v indeed_o the_o work_n of_o save_a grace_n in_o man_n be_v most_o proper_o attribute_v to_o god_n to_o christ_n p._n 19_o that_o the_o light_n mention_v joh._n 1._o 9_o which_o light_v every_o there_o any_o virtue_n in_o christ_n presence_n that_o be_v not_o in_o god_n presence_n be_v not_o the_o father_n son_n and_o holy_a spirit_n one_o be_v though_o different_a as_o to_o relation_n and_o degree_n of_o manifestation_n but_o how_o plain_o contradictory_n be_v it_o one_o while_o to_o confess_v christ_n be_v in_o man_n his_o essential_a presence_n as_o god_n to_o be_v in_o all_o man_n and_o yet_o that_o his_o light_n in_o the_o heathen_a or_o great_a part_n of_o man_n be_v natural_a and_o create_v o_o monstrous_a inconsistency_n he_o affirm_v that_o the_o form_n of_o doctrine_n deliver_v to_o the_o christian_n to_o wit_n the_o scripture_n be_v to_o be_v the_o rule_n of_o faith_n and_o christian_a practice_n to_o rule_v and_o govern_v themselves_o by_o p._n 22_o 23._o and_o
