allure_v and_o draw_v in_o hope_n thereof_o but_o when_o it_o come_v to_o the_o proof_n they_o have_v lose_v all_o their_o labour_n there_o be_v naught_o but_o a_o mere_a illusion_n the_o good_a be_v come_v to_o a_o three_o course_n which_o be_v this_o he_o mix_v wisdom_n and_o pleasure_n together_o but_o he_o do_v conclude_v that_o although_o he_o find_v in_o this_o way_n some_o good_a in_o both_o yet_o not_o such_o but_o that_o he_o see_v all_o to_o be_v vanity_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n for_o the_o good_a be_v find_v be_v but_o for_o the_o present_a time_n but_o let_v we_o come_v to_o his_o word_n for_o that_o former_a he_o stir_v up_o himself_o unto_o delight_n and_o pleasure_n to_o see_v whether_o there_o be_v in_o they_o the_o felicity_n that_o man_n shall_v have_v under_o the_o heaven_n and_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v understande_v that_o he_o search_v even_o to_o the_o bottom_n of_o all_o pleasure_n &_o delight_n he_o use_v a_o speech_n to_o express_v the_o same_o as_o vehement_o as_o may_v be_v for_o he_o do_v not_o say_v i_o will_v geve_v myself_o to_o pleasure_n which_o may_v be_v do_v with_o some_o moderation_n and_o so_o he_o shall_v not_o search_v deep_a enough_o but_o he_o say_v i_o will_v pour_v forth_o with_o pleasure_n that_o be_v he_o will_v whole_o give_v over_o or_o power_n forth_o himself_o or_o his_o hart_n unto_o pleasure_n and_o so_o he_o will_v his_o hart_n even_o as_o it_o be_v let_v lose_v all_o y_z e_z reins_n to_o take_v pleasure_n in_o that_o which_o be_v pleasant_a this_o be_v very_o needful_a to_o be_v consider_v because_o our_o nature_n be_v addict_v unto_o delight_n and_o pleasure_n and_o man_n do_v great_o covet_v they_o imagine_v that_o there_o be_v felicity_n in_o they_o they_o be_v so_o sweet_a unto_o the_o flesh_n if_o solomon_n have_v but_o taste_v or_o use_v moderation_n in_o pleasure_n we_o may_v have_v say_v what_o can_v he_o tell_v how_o great_a good_a there_o be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o delight_n but_o when_o he_o pour_v forth_o and_o give_v over_o himself_o whole_o for_o the_o time_n unto_o they_o what_o doubt_n remain_v or_o can_v remain_v he_o be_v a_o great_a king_n want_v nought_o but_o have_v at_o will_n and_o commandment_n what_o he_o will_v for_o all_o lawful_a delight_n no_o other_o king_n in_o the_o world_n able_a to_o do_v y_z e_z like_z he_o put_v forth_o himself_o &_o do_v that_o pleasure_n which_o he_o understand_v by_o laughter_n do_v in_o deed_n make_v those_o even_o brutish_a and_o mad_a fool_n which_o be_v give_v over_o unto_o they_o that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o he_o say_v laughter_n be_v mad_a which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v only_o what_o it_o be_v in_o itself_o but_o what_o it_o make_v man_n it_o carry_v man_n which_o be_v pour_v forth_o thereunto_o even_o to_o the_o forgetfulness_n of_o god_n and_o to_o quench_v all_o light_n of_o true_a understanding_n in_o they_o thus_o than_o he_o reason_v felicity_n or_o good_a be_v not_o to_o be_v seek_v in_o that_o which_o make_v a_o man_n forget_v god_n quench_v the_o light_n of_o reason_n turn_v he_o into_o a_o beast_n or_o make_v he_o mad_a but_o carnal_a pleasure_n do_v all_o these_o when_o a_o man_n do_v pour_v forth_o himself_o unto_o they_o therefore_o they_o be_v to_o be_v despise_v abhor_a and_o reject_v a_o wise_a man_n may_v well_o say_v of_o mirth_n as_o he_o do_v what_o do_v she_o as_o if_o it_o shall_v be_v say_v she_o do_v mar_v at_o lead_v clean_o awry_o and_o leave_v no_o good_a in_o this_o point_n there_o be_v little_a credit_n give_v or_o like_v to_o be_v give_v unto_o solomon_n for_o almost_o the_o whole_a world_n do_v give_v over_o itself_o unto_o vain_a mirth_n and_o pleasure_n there_o be_v such_o a_o sweetness_n in_o they_o unto_o the_o flesh_n that_o you_o shall_v scarce_o find_v the_o ten_o man_n among_o noble_a or_o base_a which_o do_v not_o think_v himself_o even_o after_o a_o sort_n happy_a if_o he_o may_v enjoy_v even_o the_o scum_n or_o dregs_n of_o they_o i_o speak_v thus_o because_o in_o comparison_n of_o solomon_n pleasant_a delight_n all_o the_o pleasure_n which_o the_o common_a sort_n of_o man_n attain_v unto_o be_v but_o even_o as_o the_o scum_n and_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o we_o can_v not_o believe_v he_o but_o do_v still_o follow_v after_o carnal_a pleasure_n as_o greedy_o as_o ever_o hungry_a fish_n do_v catch_v at_o the_o bait_n sure_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n man_n be_v fool_n and_o so_o it_o gréeve_v they_o not_o to_o be_v make_v beast_n or_o mad_a man_n as_o it_o grieve_v he_o be_v wise_a be_v this_o the_o way_n to_o happiness_n o_o miserable_a blindness_n man_n be_v now_o as_o the_o holy_a apostle_n prophesy_v they_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o last_o day_n lover_n of_o pleasure_n more_o than_o lover_n of_o god_n 2._o timoth._n 3_o let_v we_o 3._o take_v heed_n of_o it_o see_v it_o be_v but_o a_o vain_a illusion_n and_o no_o more_o but_o as_o the_o dream_n of_o a_o sick_a man_n he_o dream_v that_o he_o see_v pleasant_a sight_n &_o hear_v goodly_a song_n which_o delight_v he_o but_o when_o he_o awake_v he_o be_v in_o his_o bed_n full_a of_o pain_n pleasure_n for_o the_o time_n carry_v man_n on_o as_o happy_a but_o in_o the_o end_n they_o shall_v find_v they_o be_v delude_v i_o may_v here_o reason_n by_o comparison_n after_o this_o sort_n if_o lawful_a mirth_n or_o that_o which_o be_v indifferent_a in_o itself_o do_v make_v man_n to_o become_v mad_a and_o base_a mind_v when_o they_o be_v give_v over_o thereunto_o not_o keep_v moderation_n for_o power_n forth_o thyself_o and_o thou_o shall_v become_v mad_a how_o much_o more_o shall_v filthy_a and_o unlawful_a or_o impure_a delight_n make_v they_o brutish_a for_o we_o must_v not_o think_v that_o king_n solomon_n do_v pour_v forth_o himself_o unto_o unclean_a mirth_n but_o unto_o such_o pleasure_n as_o be_v deem_v honest_a and_o they_o that_o be_v carry_v away_o with_o these_o become_v mad_a and_o base_a mind_a their_o felicity_n be_v all_o one_o with_o the_o beast_n then_o we_o know_v not_o whereunto_o for_o to_o liken_v those_o which_o make_v a_o sport_n of_o sin_n and_o sport_n themselves_o with_o wickedness_n some_o of_o they_o delight_n in_o pride_n paint_v forth_o themselves_o by_o all_o the_o way_n and_o mean_n which_o they_o can_v that_o they_o may_v seem_v goodly_a in_o the_o eye_n of_o man_n other_o follow_v gluttony_n and_o drunkenness_n cram_v and_o stuff_v their_o belly_n like_o swine_n other_o solace_n themselves_o in_o whoredom_n &_o uncleanness_n these_o be_v their_o sweet_a delight_n solomon_n do_v not_o give_v himself_o to_o such_o pleasure_n these_o be_v more_o than_o mad_a for_o they_o drink_v in_o poison_n only_o because_o it_o be_v sweet_a even_o the_o most_o pestilent_a and_o deadly_a poison_n and_o bane_n both_o of_o soul_n &_o body_n therefore_o it_o be_v say_v the_o fool_n make_v a_o sport_n of_o sin_n moses_n be_v commend_v for_o great_a wisdom_n hebr._n 11._o when_o he_o do_v refuse_v 11._o to_o be_v call_v the_o son_n of_o pharaoh_n daughter_n choose_v rather_o to_o suffer_v affliction_n with_o the_o people_n of_o god_n then_o to_o enjoy_v the_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n for_o a_o season_n esteem_v the_o rebuke_n of_o christ_n great_a riches_n than_o the_o 11._o treasure_n of_o egypt_n i_o will_v all_o king_n prince_n noble_n &_o great_a man_n of_o the_o earth_n do_v know_v that_o which_o king_n solomon_n do_v teach_v in_o this_o place_n yea_o i_o will_v all_o man_n do_v consider_v it_o a_o right_n then_o shall_v we_o not_o have_v the_o deviser_n of_o vain_a delight_n so_o much_o make_v of_o we_o shall_v not_o have_v
misery_n he_o be_v happy_a by_o they_o he_o want_v not_o nor_o be_v not_o scant_v let_v all_o king_n and_o prince_n now_o look_v upon_o he_o and_o harken_v what_o he_o say_v for_o he_o come_v now_o to_o tell_v what_o he_o find_v in_o all_o these_o he_o confess_v in_o deed_n that_o in_o this_o way_n he_o receive_v commodity_n and_o first_o touch_v the_o delight_n that_o he_o withhold_v not_o his_o heart_n from_o any_o joy_n he_o say_v it_o be_v his_o portion_n of_o all_o his_o labour_n whereby_o he_o do_v we_o to_o wit_n that_o there_o be_v no_o more_o to_o be_v have_v but_o for_o a_o temporal_a profit_n he_o be_v to_o have_v but_o his_o part_n and_o then_o when_o he_o have_v leave_v all_o behind_o another_o do_v take_v his_o part_n and_o so_o along_o still_o from_o one_o to_o another_o there_o be_v no_o man_n which_o will_v maintain_v that_o after_o death_n any_o one_o be_v the_o better_a sore_o the_o delight_n which_o he_o live_v in_o for_o the_o present_a time_n there_o be_v profit_n be_v use_v in_o such_o sort_n as_o that_o they_o do_v not_o quench_v the_o light_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o drown_v it_o in_o security_n and_o other_o filthy_a sin_n for_o god_n have_v give_v man_n y_o e_o lawful_a use_n of_o his_o creature_n not_o only_o for_o necessity_n but_o also_o for_o delight_n and_o pleasure_n as_o he_o have_v appoint_v that_o we_o shall_v labour_v and_o travail_n so_o also_o we_o be_v to_o take_v part_n of_o our_o labour_n it_o be_v our_o portion_n under_o the_o sun_n but_o withal_o we_o must_v observe_v that_o when_o he_o say_v this_o be_v my_o portion_n of_o all_o my_o labour_n he_o do_v speak_v as_o of_o a_o small_a thing_n and_o not_o to_o be_v weigh_v or_o esteem_v as_o the_o chief_a and_o principal_a matter_n which_o man_n be_v to_o seek_v for_o it_o be_v as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v my_o labour_n be_v great_a i_o have_v no_o more_o for_o my_o portion_n but_o delight_n and_o pleasure_n for_o the_o time_n for_o when_o he_o do_v well_o way_n what_o this_o portion_n be_v he_o make_v it_o nothing_o he_o have_v as_o much_o joy_n and_o pleasure_n as_o can_v be_v have_v in_o all_o earthly_a creature_n and_o do_v he_o say_v have_v i_o no_o more_o for_o my_o portion_n but_o this_o do_v he_o make_v so_o light_a of_o the_o matter_n there_o be_v multitude_n which_o if_o they_o can_v come_v but_o unto_o the_o ten_o part_n of_o his_o glory_n riches_n and_o pleasure_n will_v not_o set_v so_o light_a by_o they_o they_o will_v think_v their_o labour_n well_o bestow_v and_o take_v themselves_o very_o happy_a man_n if_o they_o may_v but_o swill_n themselves_o in_o the_o dregs_n of_o those_o pleasure_n which_o he_o do_v swim_v in_o if_o some_o man_n have_v but_o one_o of_o his_o goodly_a house_n it_o will_v cause_v he_o to_o work_n of_o mean_a person_n yea_o let_v it_o be_v even_o of_o king_n their_o work_n be_v not_o comparable_a unto_o he_o all_o his_o have_v vanish_v and_o shall_v not_o they_o he_o find_v no_o good_a and_o shall_v they_o find_v any_o behold_v then_o a_o man_n set_v up_o in_o the_o height_n and_o top_n of_o all_o excellency_n for_o this_o world_n who_o also_o have_v make_v search_v every_o way_n to_o the_o full_a to_o find_v good_a do_v proclaim_v and_o cry_v out_o aloud_o unto_o all_o other_o who_o he_o behold_v from_o aloft_o strive_v below_o and_o labour_v themselves_o even_o out_o of_o breath_n to_o climb_v up_o unto_o he_o that_o they_o do_v but_o lose_v their_o labour_n and_o weary_a themselves_o in_o vain_a for_o when_o they_o have_v get_v even_o to_o the_o high_a degree_n of_o wealth_n of_o dignity_n and_o pleasure_n they_o shall_v find_v naught_o but_o mere_a vanity_n there_o be_v no_o credit_n give_v unto_o this_o which_o show_v that_o the_o worldling_n be_v too_o too_o shameful_o besot_v and_o be_v witch_v for_o they_o labour_v as_o earnest_o to_o climb_v aloft_o in_o the_o world_n as_o if_o the_o fullness_n of_o joy_n and_o felicity_n be_v thereby_o to_o be_v attain_v they_o have_v nothing_o the_o like_a care_n to_o seek_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n where_o in_o deed_n alone_o be_v the_o true_a blessedness_n they_o spill_v both_o body_n and_o soul_n to_o come_v by_o that_o which_o can_v do_v they_o no_o good_a at_o all_o they_o build_v their_o house_n in_o blood_n in_o craft_n and_o deceit_n with_o bribery_n extortion_n yea_o with_o all_o manner_n of_o unjust_a deal_n have_v they_o increase_v their_o riches_n if_o they_o can_v rise_v up_o as_o lawful_o as_o solomon_n it_o be_v much_o near_o yet_o all_o vanity_n what_o be_v their_o misery_n then_o which_o they_o have_v double_v by_o their_o wicked_a covetousness_n and_o ambition_n if_o they_o look_v to_o go_v beyond_o solomon_n they_o be_v mad_a if_o they_o look_v to_o be_v equal_a with_o he_o they_o be_v fool_n they_o shall_v never_o come_v nigh_o he_o by_o many_o degree_n if_o they_o think_v to_o find_v good_a than_o it_o must_v be_v in_o the_o scrap_n whereas_o he_o can_v never_o find_v but_o deni_v it_o to_o be_v in_o the_o full_a furniture_n of_o the_o table_n this_o may_v stay_v our_o course_n when_o we_o run_v so_o greedy_o and_o ambicious_o after_o the_o world_n if_o we_o have_v the_o grace_n and_o wisdom_n but_o to_o be_v think_v we_o that_o we_o be_v tell_v by_o one_o which_o have_v prove_v that_o all_o be_v but_o labour_v lose_v we_o run_v from_o god_n who_o we_o shall_v seek_v and_o stay_v upon_o and_o follow_v after_o that_o which_o can_v not_o help_v we_o at_o all_o we_o lean_a upon_o a_o break_a staff_n and_o stay_n upon_o a_o réed_n if_o god_n give_v we_o riches_n and_o honour_n use_v they_o to_o his_o glory_n account_n of_o they_o as_o thing_n transitory_a we_o must_v set_v our_o heart_n upon_o better_a thing_n if_o i_o can_v be_v equal_a with_o solomon_n in_o glory_n and_o royalty_n i_o perceive_v by_o he_o it_o be_v nought_o worth_a why_o shall_v i_o deprive_v myself_o of_o y_o e_o joy_n of_o heaven_n by_o a_o likerousnes_n of_o that_o which_o be_v utter_o vain_a i_o can_v not_o serve_v god_n and_o mammon_n i_o can_v not_o delight_v in_o this_o world_n and_o delight_n in_o god_n also_o he_o that_o do_v but_o desire_n to_o be_v rich_a fall_v into_o many_o noisome_a lust_n which_o drown_v man_n in_o destruction_n and_o perdition_n 6._o i_o will_v first_o as_o i_o be_o command_v seek_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o then_o to_o conclude_v this_o point_n i_o wish_v that_o king_n prince_n noble_n rich_a man_n and_o all_o other_o will_v take_v the_o view_n of_o solomon_n work_n his_o stately_a palace_n his_o pleasant_a garden_n and_o orchyard_n his_o gold_n and_o silver_n with_o all_o his_o honour_n &_o delight_n and_o with_o all_o mark_n well_o and_o believe_v that_o he_o say_v all_o be_v vanity_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n there_o be_v no_o profit_n under_o the_o sun_n

speak_v of_o wisdom_n compare_v she_o to_o the_o light_n &_o to_o the_o eye_n in_o the_o head_n we_o may_v not_o judge_v that_o he_o do_v speak_v this_o of_o craft_n and_o subtlety_n but_o of_o such_o knowledge_n as_o be_v good_a in_o itself_o and_o in_o the_o right_a use_n do_v bring_v commodity_n now_o a_o day_n though_o therebe_a few_o wise_a man_n for_o it_o be_v attain_v with_o great_a &_o long_a travail_n yet_o there_o be_v many_o that_o think_v themselves_o wise_a and_o be_v offend_v if_o man_n do_v not_o so_o deem_v they_o when_o as_o in_o deed_n the_o great_a part_n of_o their_o wisdom_n do_v rest_n in_o a_o naughty_a dissemble_a craftiness_n and_o falsehood_n they_o have_v no_o skill_n in_o good_a science_n and_o yet_o because_o they_o can_v with_o subtle_a shift_n and_o very_a cozen_a trick_n over_o reach_v other_o they_o glory_v much_o and_o take_v themselves_o to_o be_v the_o only_a politike_n of_o the_o world_n these_o man_n be_v none_o of_o those_o of_o who_o he_o speak_v when_o he_o say_v the_o wise_a man_n eye_n be_v in_o his_o head_n this_o kind_n of_o skill_n be_v get_v without_o sore_a travail_n and_o sorrow_n it_o be_v a_o easy_a thing_n for_o man_n corrupt_a nature_n to_o put_v in_o practice_v this_o devilish_a art_n who_o can_v not_o fain_o lie_v and_o dissemble_v well_o these_o be_v to_o be_v put_v out_o of_o the_o number_n and_o send_v among_o the_o fool_n lest_o they_o may_v glory_v and_o say_v we_o be_v the_o man_n of_o who_o solomon_n do_v speak_v we_o have_v our_o eye_n in_o our_o head_n no_o no_o your_o subtle_a wiliness_n be_v oftentimes_o a_o snare_n or_o a_o net_n a_o pit_n or_o a_o trap_n to_o catch_v yourselves_o he_o catch_v the_o wise_a in_o their_o craftiness_n 1._o 4._o cor._n 4._o moreover_o we_o may_v learn_v this_o in_o continual_a experience_n that_o a_o man_n who_o policy_n be_v craft_n be_v suspect_v in_o all_o his_o do_n and_o think_v to_o dissemble_v even_o when_o he_o mean_v simple_o and_o without_o fraud_n away_o than_o all_o dissemble_a and_o false_a not_o wise_a man_n but_o fool_n you_o will_v reply_v that_o there_o be_v such_o deep_a craft_n and_o dissimulation_n now_o practise_v in_o the_o world_n that_o unless_o a_o man_n do_v meet_v with_o it_o with_o the_o like_a he_o shall_v never_o go_v through_o for_o some_o be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o say_v that_o he_o which_o will_v live_v in_o these_o day_n must_v dissemble_v and_o use_v craft_n for_o private_a affair_n and_o for_o public_a business_n in_o government_n of_o commonwelth_n if_o a_o man_n do_v not_o use_v craft_n if_o he_o do_v not_o fain_o and_o dissemble_v he_o be_v make_v a_o fool_n he_o must_v study_v with_o subtlety_n to_o repel_v subtlety_n and_o so_o fashion_v himself_o to_o the_o manner_n of_o the_o world_n alas_o be_v wisdom_n become_v so_o weak_a that_o she_o can_v defend_v herself_o against_o falsehood_n certain_o there_o be_v no_o false_a pack_v in_o the_o world_n but_o wisdom_n be_v able_a both_o to_o espy_v it_o and_o to_o encounter_v it_o make_v a_o difference_n therefore_o my_o brethren_n béetwixt_n these_o sort_n of_o man_n count_v not_o the_o wisdom_n of_o this_o world_n to_o be_v fraud_n and_o guile_n no_o it_o be_v simple_a and_o plain_a the_o other_o be_v but_o the_o abuse_n thereof_o thus_o far_o have_v we_o see_v what_o solomon_n find_v in_o pleasure_n and_o wisdom_n join_v together_o and_o in_o all_o his_o royal_a &_o magnifical_a work_n which_o serve_v for_o honour_n and_o delight_n there_o do_v remain_v the_o reason_n which_o he_o bring_v to_o prove_v that_o not_o notwithstanding_o the_o good_a that_o ensue_v from_o either_o yet_o all_o be_v vanity_n in_o both_o i_o will_v not_o now_o deal_v with_o they_o but_o if_o it_o please_v god_n the_o next_o time_n lay_v up_o i_o pray_v you_o brethren_n in_o your_o heart_n his_o doctrine_n here_o utter_v meditate_v alone_o by_o yourselves_o upon_o his_o glory_n riches_n and_o delight_n consider_v his_o great_a work_n i_o know_v also_o etc._n etc._n in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o this_o chapter_n we_o have_v see_v how_o he_o search_v for_o good_a in_o pleasure_n and_o wisdom_n mix_v together_o and_o in_o all_o excellent_a and_o magnifical_a work_n which_o serve_v for_o either_o of_o they_o we_o have_v also_o hear_v what_o profit_n he_o find_v this_o way_n now_o come_v he_o to_o show_v by_o reason_n why_o yet_o all_o be_v vanity_n and_o first_o for_o wisdom_n it_o have_v profit_n in_o it_o above_o
way_n but_o chief_o in_o death_n their_o dignity_n do_v vanish_v and_o they_o differ_v not_o from_o the_o beast_n that_o perish_v as_o i_o allege_v before_o psalm_n 49._o therefore_o he_o say_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o child_n of_o man_n and_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o beast_n be_v even_o as_o one_o condition_n to_o they_o as_o the_o one_o die_v so_o die_v y_fw-mi e_z other_o for_o they_o so_o do_v the_o man_n for_o both_o be_v make_v of_o the_o dust_n and_o both_o return_n to_o the_o dust_n in_o all_o these_o here_o be_v as_o he_o say_v no_o excellency_n of_o man_n above_o the_o beast_n for_o all_o be_v vanity_n thus_o we_o see_v man_n be_v in_o honour_n but_o do_v not_o continue_v he_o be_v like_o the_o beast_n that_o perish_v the_o holy_a scripture_n when_o it_o will_v abate_v man_n high_a stomach_n do_v put_v he_o in_o mind_n that_o his_o breath_n be_v in_o his_o nostril_n he_o be_v but_o dust_n and_o shall_v die_v and_o return_v to_o dust_n now_o because_o this_o foolish_a vain_a glory_n that_o man_n have_v in_o themselves_o and_o in_o the_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n cleave_v so_o fast_o solomon_n urge_v the_o matter_n very_o sore_a when_o he_o make_v no_o difference_n at_o all_o nor_o no_o excellency_n of_o man_n above_o the_o beast_n let_v man_n consider_v well_o of_o this_o and_o it_o must_v needs_o make_v they_o less_o esteem_v the_o glory_n of_o this_o world_n now_o if_o they_o have_v riches_n and_o be_v a_o step_n or_o two_o in_o honour_n above_o other_o it_o fare_v with_o they_o as_o if_o they_o be_v of_o a_o other_o kindred_n yea_o as_o if_o they_o be_v petty_a god_n but_o if_o it_o can_v enter_v into_o their_o mind_n to_o think_v i_o have_v honour_n and_o dignity_n and_o glory_n here_o in_o the_o world_n i_o be_o set_v up_o above_o the_o common_a sort_n but_o shall_v this_o difference_n between_o i_o and_o they_o continue_v sure_o not_o i_o shall_v be_v make_v equal_a with_o the_o base_a man_n yea_o which_o be_v more_o i_o shall_v differ_v nothing_o at_o all_o from_o the_o vile_a beast_n i_o shall_v have_v no_o excellency_n above_o a_o dog_n his_o breath_n be_v as_o my_o breath_n we_o draw_v in_o all_o one_o air_n he_o and_o i_o shall_v yield_v it_o forth_o a_o like_a i_o shall_v die_v as_o he_o die_v my_o carcase_n be_v now_o dainty_o lead_v lie_v soft_a be_v deck_v with_o rich_a apparel_n and_o be_v honour_v it_o shall_v be_v as_o vile_a and_o as_o rot_v and_o loathsome_a as_o he_o we_o both_o return_n to_o dust_n that_o body_n which_o now_o be_v honour_v within_o few_o day_n if_o a_o man_n come_v to_o it_o he_o must_v stop_v his_o nose_n why_o do_v i_o then_o seek_v to_o glorify_v myself_o in_o this_o vain_a estate_n â—_o why_o do_v i_o not_o tread_v down_o these_o vanity_n and_o seek_v the_o glory_n that_o be_v of_o god_n i_o say_v if_o we_o can_v with_o this_o noble_a king_n enter_v thorough_o into_o such_o consideration_n the_o vain_a world_n shall_v not_o so_o bewitch_v we_o and_o carry_v we_o from_o god_n for_o who_o be_v so_o foolish_a to_o labour_v most_o for_o that_o which_o within_o a_o short_a time_n can_v not_o make_v he_o differre_fw-la from_o the_o bruit_n beast_n but_o it_o may_v be_v object_v that_o this_o be_v hard_a to_o say_v there_o be_v no_o excellency_n at_o all_o of_o man_n above_o the_o beast_n when_o death_n come_v see_v the_o beast_n do_v whole_o pearish_a but_o man_n have_v a_o soul_n which_o do_v not_o die_v but_o live_v though_o the_o body_n turn_v to_o dust_n this_o objection_n do_v solomon_n prevent_v when_o he_o say_v who_o know_v the_o spirit_n of_o man_n that_o it_o go_v upward_o and_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o beast_n that_o it_o go_v down_o ward_n to_o the_o earth_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v though_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o man_n have_v a_o spirit_n which_o die_v not_o with_o the_o body_n but_o return_v to_o god_n that_o give_v it_o as_o he_o speak_v afterward_o in_o the_o last_o chapter_n of_o this_o book_n and_o that_o the_o beast_n have_v no_o other_o spirit_n or_o soul_n but_o such_o as_o die_v with_o the_o body_n yet_o this_o make_v no_o difference_n between_o they_o touch_v this_o present_n world_n for_o whereby_o can_v any_o man_n gather_v in_o the_o death_n of_o man_n that_o he_o differ_v or_o have_v a_o excellency_n above_o the_o beast_n i_o there_o be_v it_o do_v not_o appear_v neither_o do_v it_o therefore_o touch_v the_o state_n of_o the_o world_n such_o as_o die_v in_o the_o lord_n be_v blese_v and_o do_v in_o that_o respect_n far_o excel_v the_o beast_n but_o touch_v this_o world_n about_o the_o vanity_n and_o misery_n whereof_o solomon_n dispute_v there_o be_v no_o difference_n nor_o excellency_n nor_o privilege_n above_o the_o beast_n for_o the_o man_n which_o have_v embrace_v this_o present_a world_n they_o have_v a_o soul_n in_o deed_n that_o live_v but_o it_o be_v a_o thousand_o time_n better_o for_o they_o if_o they_o have_v not_o but_o do_v whole_o perish_v as_o the_o beast_n here_o be_v no_o colour_n of_o matter_n in_o this_o sentence_n to_o uphold_v the_o wicked_a opinion_n of_o those_o detestable_a monster_n which_o denis_n the_o immortality_n of_o the_o soul_n when_o they_o allege_v this_o say_n of_o solomon_n you_o see_v it_o be_v but_o wrest_v again_o here_o be_v no_o cause_n to_o move_v we_o for_o fear_v lest_o we_o shall_v strengthen_v that_o wicked_a opinion_n to_o take_v it_o that_o solomon_n do_v here_o show_v what_o he_o judge_v by_o humane_a wisdom_n for_o humane_a reason_n have_v not_o so_o judge_v that_o man_n differ_v nothing_o at_o all_o from_o beast_n after_o death_n the_o humane_a reason_n be_v so_o blind_a that_o it_o will_v not_o be_v bring_v to_o make_v such_o a_o proof_n as_o this_o that_o man_n do_v not_o differ_v from_o the_o beast_n because_o all_o be_v vanity_n as_o we_o see_v he_o say_v a_o little_a before_o in_o this_o discourse_n i_o say_v therefore_o it_o be_v out_o of_o all_o doubt_n a_o matter_n propound_v by_o solomon_n through_o the_o due_a contemplation_n whereof_o the_o proud_a and_o lofty_a mind_n of_o man_n may_v be_v bring_v down_o that_o he_o may_v thirst_v for_o a_o better_a estate_n and_o seek_v it_o that_o he_o may_v less_o regard_v these_o transitory_a thing_n in_o which_o his_o condition_n do_v fall_v out_o very_o soon_o to_o be_v all_o one_o with_o the_o beast_n and_o here_o we_o may_v magnanimity_n be_v in_o they_o yea_o they_o will_v seem_v to_o be_v gloriouse_a and_o yet_o look_v well_o upon_o the_o matter_n and_o you_o shall_v see_v they_o have_v bow_v down_o themselves_o to_o a_o base_a condition_n when_o their_o heart_n be_v set_v upon_o earthly_a glory_n which_o can_v not_o long_o lift_v they_o up_o above_o the_o beast_n in_o deed_n this_o be_v the_o valiant_a mind_n to_o despise_v to_o tread_v down_o the_o vain_a pomye_n of_o this_o world_n to_o esteem_v base_o of_o thing_n transitory_a to_o long_o for_o that_o bless_a estate_n in_o which_o there_o shall_v no_o baseness_n approach_v and_o in_o which_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v say_v man_n be_v in_o honour_n and_o shall_v not_o continue_v he_o be_v like_o the_o beast_n that_o pearish_a if_o the_o son_n of_o great_a prince_n which_o be_v bear_v to_o honour_n and_o dignity_n shall_v be_v so_o base_o mind_v as_o to_o let_v go_v all_o regard_n of_o their_o birth_n and_o place_n and_o choose_v rather_o to_o
