chief_o pray_v for_o the_o pardon_n of_o sin_n the_o effusion_n of_o grace_n and_o for_o the_o assistance_n of_o god_n spirit_n that_o he_o may_v more_o firm_o believe_v more_o sound_o repent_v more_o zealous_o do_v more_o patient_o suffer_v and_o more_o constant_o persevere_v in_o the_o practice_n and_o profession_n of_o every_o duty_n nor_o do_v he_o for_o the_o most_o part_n fall_v into_o prayer_n without_o meditation_n and_o preparation_n nor_o utter_a word_n without_o devotion_n and_o affection_n nor_o without_o some_o assurance_n and_o persuasion_n that_o god_n will_v hear_v and_o grant_v his_o request_n yea_o he_o most_o take_v notice_n of_o his_o enlargement_n in_o prayer_n and_o of_o the_o success_n afterward_o and_o be_v according_o thankful_a or_o humble_v not_o that_o he_o measure_v god_n hear_v his_o suit_n by_o his_o present_a answer_n or_o his_o present_a answer_n by_o his_o own_o sense_n he_o will_v pray_v at_o least_o in_o some_o poor_a measure_n at_o all_o time_n strive_v against_o deadness_n of_o spirit_n and_o distraction_n as_o a_o heavy_a burden_n §_o 17._o he_o hear_v the_o word_n with_o attention_n mind_n observe_v and_o remember_v it_o careful_o receive_v and_o apply_v whatsoever_o precept_n or_o promise_n be_v speak_v out_o of_o the_o word_n as_o speak_v by_o god_n to_o himself_o in_o particular_a be_v astonish_v at_o the_o deepness_n of_o pain_n or_o be_v at_o any_o cost_n or_o suffer_v any_o disgrace_n to_o enjoy_v it_o §_o 19_o he_o be_v never_o offend_v at_o any_o wholesome_a truth_n be_v it_o never_o so_o untoothsome_a but_o speak_v against_o but_o never_o argue_v against_o it_o whereas_o the_o unbeliever_n be_v prompt_a by_o satan_n can_v most_o subtle_o argue_v against_o the_o truth_n though_o he_o have_v not_o a_o word_n to_o speak_v for_o it_o yea_o he_o think_v it_o religion_n enough_o if_o he_o can_v but_o dispute_v against_o the_o religious_a which_o be_v a_o manifest_a sign_n of_o a_o wicked_a man_n brief_o he_o neither_o carp_n nor_o fret_n against_o a_o faithful_a minister_n nor_o seek_v to_o entrap_v he_o or_o pervert_v what_o he_o deliver_v but_o pray_v for_o he_o and_o be_v ready_a to_o speak_v in_o his_o defence_n §_o 21._o he_o have_v a_o high_a estimation_n of_o the_o minister_n and_o mean_n by_o which_o he_o be_v convert_v and_o find_v more_o sweetness_n in_o the_o gospel_n then_o in_o any_o thing_n else_o in_o the_o world_n §_o 22._o spiritual_a judgement_n as_o a_o famine_n of_o the_o word_n the_o blindness_n of_o man_n mind_n hardness_n of_o their_o heart_n etc._n towards_o his_o own_o soul_n he_o be_v not_o ignorant_a of_o the_o principle_n of_o religion_n as_o most_o age_a people_n be_v but_o be_v able_a and_o ready_a to_o give_v a_o reason_n of_o the_o hope_n that_o be_v in_o he_o §_o 24._o he_o pray_v for_o the_o enlargement_n and_o rejoice_v at_o the_o progress_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o in_o the_o common_a good_a of_o the_o church_n and_o so_o at_o the_o grace_n or_o good_a success_n of_o any_o member_n in_o particular_a and_o will_v be_v some_o way_n instrumental_a for_o christ_n pray_v for_o and_o earnest_o desire_v the_o salvation_n of_o other_o and_o likewise_o endeavour_v to_o win_v all_o he_o can_v to_o christ_n rejoice_v no_o less_o when_o any_o good_a thing_n be_v do_v by_o other_o then_o if_o himself_o do_v it_o he_o high_o respect_v all_o such_o as_o any_o way_n promote_v the_o gospel_n and_o be_v thankful_a to_o they_o §_o 25._o he_o be_v willing_a to_o be_v at_o cost_n to_o serve_v the_o lord_n will_v free_o
