their_o effectual_a call_n or_o rather_o before_o their_o first_o initiation_n into_o christ_n it_o will_v be_v reply_v that_o this_o place_n show_v what_o he_o be_v even_o after_o circumcision_n for_o it_o contain_v a_o confession_n of_o sundry_a actual_a sin_n which_o must_v needs_o be_v commit_v after_o his_o circumcision_n because_o he_o be_v circumcise_v the_o eight_o day_n after_o his_o birth_n at_o which_o age_n he_o can_v not_o commit_v those_o actual_a sin_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v that_o he_o may_v be_v guilty_a of_o commit_v all_o those_o sin_n there_o reckon_v up_o and_o yet_o not_o whole_o destitute_a of_o the_o spirit_n as_o have_v be_v prove_v before_o if_o the_o spirit_n may_v be_v in_o such_o as_o be_v not_o actual_o convert_v they_o may_v commit_v many_o gross_a sin_n in_o their_o course_n of_o life_n and_o in_o such_o he_o may_v be_v notwithstanding_o the_o commission_n of_o such_o sin_n since_o they_o may_v sometimes_o commit_v as_o gross_a sin_n who_o be_v actual_o convert_v as_o we_o see_v but_o now_o in_o the_o instance_n of_o david_n and_o other_o i_o never_o affirm_v as_o the_o objection_n draw_v from_o this_o text_n will_v suppose_v that_o the_o spirit_n be_v so_o give_v either_o in_o circumcision_n or_o in_o baptism_n as_o to_o keep_v the_o elect_a from_o actual_a sin_n it_o be_v enough_o that_o the_o spirit_n take_v off_o that_o extremity_n of_o malice_n which_o be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o sin_n of_o such_o as_o be_v not_o elect_v but_o haply_o there_o may_v be_v more_o pregnant_a evidence_n in_o the_o word_n follow_v viz_o in_o spirit_n to_o be_v give_v before_o baptism_n yet_o that_o prove_v not_o that_o therefore_o those_o place_n of_o scripture_n which_o i_o have_v allege_v do_v prove_v no_o such_o thing_n as_o i_o will_v infer_v thence_o because_o i_o have_v not_o bring_v one_o of_o those_o place_n for_o a_o proof_n which_o mention_v actual_a faith_n and_o repentance_n forasmuch_o as_o they_o concern_v person_n of_o year_n only_o now_o this_o objection_n will_v have_v the_o world_n believe_v that_o i_o have_v take_v up_o some_o of_o those_o place_n for_o my_o use_n which_o speak_v clear_o of_o faith_n and_o repentance_n go_v before_o baptism_n which_o be_v not_o so_o and_o so_o it_o do_v cast_v a_o unjust_a aspersion_n upon_o i_o and_o not_o give_v any_o blow_n to_o the_o point_n itself_o 3_o i_o never_o affirm_v that_o infant_n do_v not_o at_o all_o receive_v the_o spirit_n before_o their_o baptism_n but_o only_o that_o baptism_n be_v the_o first_o instrument_n or_o mean_n apply_v for_o their_o first_o solemn_a receipt_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o may_v be_v take_v notice_n of_o by_o we_o as_o also_o for_o their_o first_o manifest_a initiation_n and_o engraff_n into_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n admit_v that_o they_o have_v the_o spirit_n before_o yet_o it_o follow_v not_o that_o they_o receive_v he_o not_o also_o in_o baptism_n in_o respect_n of_o confirmation_n thereof_o if_o not_o in_o respect_n of_o a_o further_a degree_n and_o measure_n of_o his_o grace_n the_o holy_a ghost_n descend_v upon_o christ_n in_o his_o baptism_n yet_o no_o man_n will_v say_v christ_n have_v not_o the_o spirit_n before_o he_o be_v baptize_v they_o in_o act_n 2._o before_o mention_v be_v bid_v to_o repent_v before_o they_o be_v baptize_v and_o no_o doubt_n they_o do_v so_o which_o yet_o can_v not_o be_v without_o the_o spirit_n as_o i_o have_v often_o say_v and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o the_o apostle_n assure_v they_o that_o in_o baptism_n they_o shall_v receive_v the_o holy_a ghost_n
