to_o cause_v it_o to_o make_v sin_n appear_v to_o we_o we_o that_o be_v the_o minister_n of_o god_n may_v discover_v your_o sin_n we_o may_v show_v you_o the_o rectitude_n require_v in_o the_o law_n and_o the_o glorious_a inheritance_n prepare_v for_o the_o saint_n and_o what_o be_v the_o exceed_a greatness_n of_o his_o power_n in_o they_o that_o believe_v i_o say_v we_o need_v the_o spirit_n to_o show_v these_o thing_n object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v a_o man_n may_v see_v these_o thing_n without_o the_o help_n of_o the_o spirit_n ans._n spirit_n it_o be_v true_a in_o some_o manner_n you_o may_v but_o not_o in_o such_o a_o manner_n as_o shall_v affect_v you_o for_o there_o be_v a_o manner_n of_o see_v proper_a only_o to_o the_o saint_n and_o that_o be_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o they_o when_o we_o shall_v so_o see_v they_o as_o to_o be_v affect_v with_o they_o otherwise_o you_o may_v read_v the_o scripture_n a_o thousand_o time_n over_o you_o may_v understand_v they_o yet_o you_o shall_v not_o be_v affect_v with_o they_o till_o the_o holy_a ghost_n show_v they_o unto_o you_o this_o be_v the_o secret_a of_o god_n that_o he_o reveal_v to_o those_o embrace_v they_o when_o we_o shall_v not_o only_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o they_o but_o the_o goodness_n of_o they_o when_o god_n shall_v not_o only_o show_v we_o the_o advantage_n we_o have_v by_o christ_n but_o the_o excellency_n of_o christ_n so_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v in_o love_n with_o his_o person_n as_o well_o as_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o receive_v the_o privilege_n with_o he_o now_o this_o be_v do_v by_o the_o spirit_n open_v 1._o cor._n 2.12_o we_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n by_o which_o we_o know_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v give_v we_o of_o god_n and_o they_o labour_n spend_v in_o vain_a till_o god_n himself_o open_v the_o cloud_n till_o he_o will_v smile_v on_o a_o man_n and_o send_v his_o spirit_n into_o the_o heart_n to_o give_v a_o secret_a witness_n to_o he_o till_o there_o be_v a_o work_n of_o his_o own_o join_n with_o the_o promise_n we_o find_v by_o experience_n that_o our_o labour_n be_v lose_v it_o be_v true_a we_o ought_v to_o do_v this_o principle_n of_o his_o own_o therefore_o man_n be_v so_o draw_v that_o withal_o they_o run_v after_o he_o as_o it_o be_v cant._n 1._o 1.4_o but_o it_o show_v this_o thing_n for_o which_o i_o have_v use_v it_o that_o there_o be_v a_o wondrous_a backwardness_n in_o all_o of_o we_o by_o nature_n and_o that_o this_o must_v be_v do_v by_o a_o great_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n therefore_o the_o desire_v long_o enough_o but_o how_o shall_v we_o be_v able_a to_o do_v it_o i_o will_v tell_v you_o in_o a_o word_n answ._n and_o so_o conclude_v first_o god_n you_o must_v pray_v for_o it_o it_o delight_v to_o show_v himself_o to_o such_o a_o man_n yea_o at_o such_o a_o time_n for_o the_o most_o part_n as_o he_o show_v himself_o to_o christ_n when_o he_o be_v pray_v as_o he_o do_v to_o moses_n and_o to_o cornelius_n and_o other_o and_o again_o prayer_n it_o exercise_v this_o love_n it_o blow_v up_o the_o spark_n of_o this_o love_n and_o make_v a_o flame_n of_o it_o therefore_o much_o prayer_n beget_v much_o love_n if_o you_o will_v be_v abundant_a in_o love_n be_v fervent_a and_o frequent_a in_o this_o duty_n of_o prayer_n pray_v much_o and_o you_o shall_v find_v this_o effect_n of_o it_o it_o will_v beget_v love_n in_o you_o you_o will_v say_v prayer_n be_v a_o general_a mean_n for_o other_o thing_n object_n why_o do_v you_o put_v it_o as_o a_o peculiar_a mean_n to_o get_v love_n answ._n the_o reason_n be_v because_o love_v in_o a_o especial_a manner_n be_v a_o gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n a_o fruit_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o it_o be_v true_a it_o must_v be_v a_o peculiar_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o beget_v love_n it_o be_v true_a faith_n come_v by_o hear_v and_o hear_v beget_v faith_n it_o be_v do_v likewise_o by_o the_o spirit_n but_o love_n be_v more_o peculiarly_a than_o other_o grace_n the_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o therefore_o 2_o thess._n 4._o 4._o say_v the_o apostle_n you_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n to_o love_v one_o another_o that_o be_v it_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o god_n teach_v or_o else_o our_o teach_n will_v never_o do_v it_o that_o which_o he_o say_v of_o love_n to_o the_o brethren_n we_o may_v say_v he_o can_v because_o it_o be_v a_o peculiar_a gift_n of_o god_n that_o natural_a affection_n for_o a_o man_n to_o love_v his_o child_n all_o the_o world_n can_v do_v it_o all_o the_o argument_n in_o the_o world_n can_v persuade_v a_o man_n for_o if_o argument_n can_v do_v it_o we_o may_v persuade_v other_o to_o do_v so_o but_o none_o can_v love_v so_o as_o the_o father_n do_v his_o child_n and_o why_o but_o because_o the_o lord_n work_v that_o in_o man_n so_o the_o love_n of_o god_n be_v a_o peculiar_a work_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n none_o be_v able_a to_o love_n jesus_n but_o he_o in_o who_o the_o lord_n have_v wrought_v it_o in_o who_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v plant_v this_o affection_n therefore_o the_o way_n to_o get_v it_o be_v earnest_o to_o pray_v to_o acknowledge_v the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o go_v to_o he_o and_o say_v lord_n i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o do_v it_o this_o acknowledgement_n of_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v the_o way_n to_o prevail_v beside_o you_o know_v the_o power_n of_o god_n be_v so_o transcendent_a beyond_o the_o pitch_n of_o our_o nature_n that_o except_o the_o holy_a ghost_n work_v more_o than_o nature_n we_o shall_v never_o be_v bring_v together_o in_o agreeablenesse_n and_o suitableness_n we_o be_v no_o more_o able_a to_o love_v the_o lord_n than_o cold_a water_n be_v able_a to_o heat_n itself_o there_o must_v be_v somewhat_o to_o breed_v heat_n in_o that_o water_n so_o the_o holy_a ghost_n must_v breed_v that_o fire_n of_o love_n in_o we_o it_o must_v be_v kindle_v from_o heaven_n or_o else_o we_o shall_v never_o have_v it_o second_o another_o special_a mean_n to_o enable_v you_o to_o love_v the_o lord_n sin_n be_v to_o consider_v your_o own_o condition_n to_o consider_v your_o sin_n what_o you_o be_v what_o heart_n you_o have_v and_o what_o live_v you_o have_v lead_v object_n you_o will_v say_v how_o do_v this_o beget_v love_n answ._n yes_o this_o be_v a_o great_a mean_n
