the_o comfort_n of_o their_o grace_n as_o we_o find_v in_o the_o old_a testament_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v this_o profession_n at_o the_o first_o publish_v and_o promulgation_n of_o the_o gospel_n meet_v with_o so_o many_o and_o such_o sharp_a affliction_n that_o god_n do_v indulge_v they_o and_o make_v their_o inward_a grace_n to_o abound_v as_o their_o outward_a suffering_n do_v abound_v 4._o these_o instance_n may_v suffice_v to_o prove_v that_o it_o be_v truth_n believer_n who_o be_v strong_a in_o grace_n yet_o may_v want_v the_o comfort_n of_o their_o grace_n 2._o to_o give_v you_o some_o ground_n of_o this_o the_o reason_n may_v be_v draw_v either_o 1._o from_o god_n or_o 2._o from_o ourselves_o or_o 3_o from_o the_o devil_n 1._o reason_n be_v from_o the_o lord_n to_o withhold_v from_o they_o to_o who_o he_o have_v give_v grace_n the_o comfort_n of_o their_o grace_n 1._o to_o manifest_v his_o divine_a authority_n and_o absolute_a sovereignty_n over_o his_o people_n as_o the_o natural_a light_n of_o the_o day_n and_o darkness_n of_o the_o night_n be_v at_o god_n dispose_n so_o also_o be_v this_o spiritual_a ligh_v of_o comfort_n and_o the_o darkness_n of_o a_o desert_a and_o deject_a spirit_n god_n give_v diviâ—e_a and_o spiritual_a consolation_n out_o of_o the_o goodness_n of_o his_o will_n and_o withdraw_v they_o to_o show_v the_o absoluteness_n and_o sovereign_a liberty_n of_o his_o will._n 2._o to_o let_v his_o people_n know_v that_o comfort_n be_v not_o essential_a to_o holiness_n neither_o inseparable_o and_o necessary_o belong_v to_o grace_n though_o there_o can_v be_v true_a peace_n where_o there_o be_v no_o grace_n yet_o there_o may_v be_v true_a grace_n where_o there_o be_v no_o peace_n 3._o god_n in_o the_o dispensation_n both_o of_o grace_n and_o comfort_n show_v himself_o a_o free_a and_o gracious_a agent_n and_o all_o our_o grace_n which_o god_n work_v in_o we_o be_v mere_o from_o god_n grace_n to_o we_o he_o will_v give_v comfort_n when_o and_o to_o who_o he_o please_v but_o still_o as_o a_o reward_n of_o his_o own_o free_a grace_n the_o comfort_n of_o a_o pardon_n
