weight_n and_o so_o near_o do_v concern_v us._n as_o touch_v that_o other_o sermon_n in_o it_o we_o may_v see_v very_o exact_o and_o judicious_o handle_v that_o rare_a and_o singular_a virtue_n so_o oft_o speak_v of_o in_o the_o scripture_n and_o call_v by_o this_o name_n the_o fear_n of_o god_n a_o most_o excellent_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n as_o useful_a almost_o as_o any_o other_o to_o help_v forward_o a_o christian_a life_n and_o no_o less_o gainful_a in_o bring_v in_o god_n blessing_n as_o for_o a_o christian_a life_n as_o we_o know_v it_o be_v chief_o spend_v in_o two_o thing_n that_o be_v abstain_v from_o evil_a and_o endeavour_v that_o which_o be_v good_a or_o as_o isaiah_n speak_v in_o cease_v to_o do_v evil_a 1.16.17_o isaiah_n 1.16.17_o and_o learning_n to_o do_v well_o now_o both_o these_o be_v stream_n flow_v from_o one_o and_o the_o same_o sountaine_n viz._n 3.7_o prou._n 3.7_o the_o fear_n of_o jehovah_n solomon_n say_v the_o fear_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v to_o hate_v evil_a prou._n 8.13_o there_o be_v god_n fear_v the_o cause_n of_o surcease_n from_o evil_a he_o further_o say_v pron_z 14.2_o he_o that_o walk_v in_o righteousness_n fear_v the_o lord_n where_o the_o wise_a man_n reason_v from_o the_o effect_n to_o the_o cause_n &_o show_v that_o god_n fear_n be_v it_o that_o cause_v a_o man_n to_o walk_v righteous_o that_o be_v to_o do_v well_o that_o ride_v in_o order_v his_o horse_n do_v use_v a_o bridle_n &_o a_o spur_n a_o bridle_n to_o restrain_v he_o if_o he_o be_v too_o free_a a_o spur_n to_o prick_v he_o on_o forward_o if_o he_o be_v dull_a so_o in_o order_v our_o life_n the_o fear_n of_o god_n be_v as_o a_o bridle_n to_o curb_v we_o from_o rush_v into_o sin_n and_o as_o a_o spur_n to_o prick_v we_o on_o forward_o and_o quicken_v our_o slow_a and_o lazy_a nature_n to_o that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o please_a to_o god_n yet_o moreover_o as_o this_o be_v a_o virtue_n of_o great_a use_n in_o direct_v we_o to_o heaven_n so_o i_o may_v true_o call_v it_o as_o the_o apostle_n do_v call_v godliness_n great_a gain_n for_o it_o bring_v in_o with_o it_o the_o abundance_n of_o god_n blessing_n in_o so_o much_o as_o whosoever_o will_v attempt_v to_o trade_n therewith_o shall_v find_v her_o revenue_n to_o be_v very_o great_a and_o that_o which_o solomon_n say_v of_o wisdom_n prou._n 3.14_o will_v be_v verify_v of_o she_o
