therefore_o of_o thing_n subsistent_a in_o the_o world_n give_v they_o another_o distinct_a subsistence_n such_o as_o it_o be_v in_o our_o mind_n but_o we_o must_v observe_v far_o that_o because_o in_o this_o case_n it_o be_v the_o very_a thing_n and_o its_o subsistence_n in_o the_o world_n that_o the_o mind_n conceive_v therefore_o that_o thing_n and_o its_o subsistence_n which_o be_v real_a in_o the_o world_n do_v both_o notional_o subsist_v in_o one_o conception_n i_o say_v the_o thing_n and_o its_o real_a subsistence_n in_o the_o world_n do_v both_o subsist_v notional_o in_o our_o mind_n here_o then_o be_v two_o distinct_a subsistence_n of_o the_o same_o thing_n which_o do_v differ_v not_o only_o in_o number_n but_o in_o their_o condition_n or_o kind_n hence_o it_o follow_v 8._o because_o matter_n and_o its_o quality_n have_v no_o power_n to_o conceive_v its_o own_o subsistence_n therefore_o it_o can_v have_v in_o itself_o only_a one_o of_o these_o subsistence_n which_o have_v only_o one_o real_a subsistence_n but_o then_o the_o world_n and_o its_o real_a subsistence_n have_v as_o many_o notitional_a subsistence_n as_o there_o be_v soul_n actual_o think_v of_o it_o 9_o when_o my_o mind_n do_v actual_o form_v a_o conception_n of_o its_o own_o be_v then_o do_v my_o mind_n actual_o subsist_v in_o its_o self_n in_o two_o distinct_a subsistence_n the_o one_o real_a and_o the_o other_o notional_a but_o when_o my_o mind_n do_v not_o actual_o conceive_v its_o own_o be_v as_o we_o know_v the_o mind_n do_v not_o when_o it_o be_v whole_o take_v up_o with_o the_o thought_n of_o other_o thing_n it_o have_v for_o that_o time_n one_o one_o subsistence_n in_o itself_o the_o real_o but_o not_o the_o notional_a 10._o suppose_v then_o a_o mind_n that_o without_o any_o diversion_n do_v always_o actual_o conceive_v its_o own_o real_a subsistence_n it_o be_v evident_a that_o such_o a_o mind_n have_v perpetual_o two_o subsistence_n in_o itself_o the_o first_o in_o order_n be_v its_o real_a subsistence_n and_o the_o second_o that_o in_o the_o conception_n now_o since_o we_o suppose_v the_o supreme_a spirit_n be_v such_o a_o mind_n as_o be_v not_o ignorant_a of_o its_o own_o real_a subsistence_n and_o have_v no_o dorment_n power_n that_o it_o shall_v ever_o be_v divert_v from_o the_o actual_a conception_n of_o itself_o therefore_o this_o mind_n subsist_v perpetual_o in_o two_o different_a subsistence_n god_n therefore_o the_o supreme_a spirit_n do_v in_o himself_o subsist_v in_o no_o less_o than_o two_o distinct_a subsistence_n whereof_o the_o one_o be_v a_o real_a subsistence_n but_o whether_o the_o second_o be_v a_o real_a and_o substantial_a subsistence_n of_o the_o godhead_n or_o only_o notional_a i_o confess_v can_v be_v infer_v bare_o evidence_n that_o it_o have_v natural_o more_o real_a subsistence_n than_o one_o for_o if_o there_o be_v not_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o deity_n will_v not_o evince_v this_o point_n of_o the_o church_n faith_n but_o the_o church_n be_v leave_v whole_o to_o its_o own_o proper_a province_n and_o to_o prove_v it_o by_o scripture_n and_o that_o proof_n however_o will_v retain_v its_o own_o perfection_n of_o the_o divine_a truth_n etc._n etc._n 2d_o that_o whatever_o god_n do_v conceive_v not_o to_o be_v that_o have_v no_o be_v and_o be_v nothing_o and_o 3d._n on_o the_o other_o hand_n whatever_o god_n do_v positive_o conceive_v to_o be_v that_o real_o be_v or_o do_v subsist_v and_o four_o the_o independent_a all-sufficiency_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n assure_v we_o that_o without_o the_o concurrence_n or_o assistence_n of_o any_o other_o thing_n whatever_o this_o divine_a mind_n can_v positive_o conceive_v a_o thing_n to_o be_v and_o from_o hence_o we_o can_v argue_v as_o from_o certain_a principle_n 3._o that_o since_o god_n can_v positive_o conceive_v a_o thing_n to_o be_v without_o the_o presence_n or_o antecedent_n be_v of_o any_o other_o thing_n beside_o himself_o he_o can_v when_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o beside_o himself_o conceive_v a_o world_n to_o be_v and_o if_o he_o do_v so_o then_o according_a to_o the_o reason_n of_o the_o mental_a divine_a nature_n chap._n 4._o the_o world_n have_v a_o subsistence_n in_o the_o divine_a mind_n by_o such_o a_o positive_a conception_n of_o it_o and_o because_o god_n never_o positive_o conceive_v a_o thing_n to_o penetrability_n or_o some_o such_o arbitrary_a notion_n we_o shall_v as_o certain_o conclude_v according_a to_o this_o process_n of_o thought_n that_o the_o supreme_a spirit_n have_v but_o one_o real_a subsistence_n as_o we_o be_v sure_o that_o matter_n have_v no_o more_o but_o if_o lay_v aside_o such_o incoherent_a notion_n we_o ground_n our_o thought_n of_o a_o spirit_n upon_o what_o nature_n itself_o god_n grace_n assist_v do_v plain_o teach_v we_o all_o we_o shall_v then_o be_v full_o convince_v that_o there_o be_v a_o be_v which_o do_v conceive_v a_o difference_n betwixt_o existence_n and_o nonexistence_n betwixt_o something_o and_o nothing_o which_o be_v so_o conceive_v be_v a_o mind_n or_o spirit_n and_o that_o this_o mind_n form_v conception_n of_o its_o own_o be_v
