pour_v out_o of_o the_o wine_n visible_o before_o the_o people_n and_o thus_o be_v this_o godly_a sorrow_n wrought_v ordinary_o in_o the_o heart_n both_o by_o the_o word_n &_o sacrament_n that_o bless_a sweet_a grace_n of_o consideration_n wrought_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n make_v both_o the_o other_o effectual_a for_o this_o purpose_n that_o a_o man_n now_o bethink_v himself_o my_o sin_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o this_o torment_n which_o christ_n the_o bless_a son_n of_o god_n endure_v and_o therefore_o affect_v the_o heart_n with_o godly_a sorrow_n for_o it_o yet_o do_v questionless_a have_v oft_o hear_v the_o word_n in_o the_o time_n of_o his_o good_a father_n the_o paragon_n of_o all_o the_o king_n of_o israel_n and_o judah_n but_o it_o little_o help_v he_o therefore_o god_n bind_v he_o in_o chain_n and_o send_v he_o to_o babel_n and_o when_o he_o be_v in_o prison_n and_o fetter_n he_o bumble_v himself_o great_o before_o the_o god_n of_o his_o father_n etc._n etc._n this_o also_o be_v manifest_a in_o 2._o in_o 2._o king_n 20_o 2._o hezekiah_n and_o especial_o in_o the_o 16.29_o the_o act._n 16.29_o jailer_n when_o he_o see_v the_o earthquake_n and_o open_v of_o the_o prison_n door_n he_o cry_v out_o what_o shall_v i_o do_v etc._n etc._n so_o that_o i_o say_v not_o that_o affliction_n can_v convert_v a_o soul_n to_o god_n for_o than_o i_o think_v pharaoh_n must_v of_o necessity_n have_v be_v a_o convert_n who_o have_v ten_o fearful_a plague_n and_o yet_o drown_v and_o likely_a damn_a but_o i_o say_v sometime_o they_o make_v way_n for_o conversion_n by_o prepare_v the_o soul_n to_o attend_v and_o hearken_v to_o the_o word_n and_o also_o when_o man_n have_v hear_v the_o word_n and_o the_o immortal_a seed_n be_v sow_v there_o as_o a_o grain_n of_o corn_n sow_v in_o a_o field_n lie_v sometime_o long_o until_o a_o ground_n rain_n moisten_v it_o and_o then_o spring_v &_o as_o in_o physic_n a_o pill_n or_o potion_n lie_v in_o the_o stomach_n a_o hour_n or_o two_o and_o never_o stir_v the_o party_n yet_o let_v he_o drink_v warm_a broth_n or_o posset-ale_n which_o have_v no_o faculty_n of_o themselves_o to_o purge_v yet_o set_v the_o physic_n on_o work_n so_o do_v affliction_n the_o word_n preach_v and_o the_o seed_n sow_v ten_o twenty_o or_o thirty_o year_n before_o and_o it_o may_v be_v affect_v the_o heart_n therewith_o at_o the_o present_a but_o it_o blow_v over_o again_o with_o thorny_a care_n or_o pleasure_n then_o come_v the_o rod_n of_o god_n and_o set_v all_o that_o word_n on_o work_n and_o bring_v forth_o not_o a_o embryo_n or_o abortive_a birth_n but_o this_o bless_a grace_n of_o godly_a sorrow_n which_o when_o it_o once_o seize_v upon_o the_o heart_n eat_v up_o all_o worldly_a and_o carnal_a sorrow_n as_o 7.12_o as_o exod._n 7.12_o moses_n his_o rod_n do_v eat_v up_o all_o the_o enchanter_n rod_n and_o serpent_n yea_o the_o least_o scruple_n of_o this_o godly_a sorrow_n will_v weigh_v down_o a_o pound_n of_o carnal_a or_o legal_a sorrow_n and_o end_n in_o sweet_a true_a joy_n and_o contentment_n consider_v this_o you_o that_o spend_v day_n week_n month_n and_o year_n in_o worldly_a sorrow_n without_o ease_n or_o comfort_n learn_v this_o lesson_n and_o practice_v it_o and_o my_o soul_n for_o thou_o thy_o end_n will_v be_v peace_n and_o invaluable_a consolation_n 2_o sign_n of_o this_o godly_a sorrow_n not_o only_o that_o it_o be_v fruitful_a but_o braunch_v forth_o into_o variety_n of_o good_a &_o happy_a fruit_n and_o therefore_o not_o only_o true_a believer_n in_o scripture_n be_v compare_v to_o 1.4_o to_o psal_n 1.4_o tree_n plant_v by_o the_o river_n which_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n in_o due_a season_n and_o in_o every_o season_n as_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n bear_v twelve_o sort_n of_o fruit_n every_o month_n but_o especial_o true_a mourner_n who_o sorrow_n end_v in_o joy_n 61.5_o joy_n be_v 61.5_o to_o appoint_v unto_o all_o that_o mourn_n in_o zion_n and_o to_o give_v they_o beauty_n for_o ash_n the_o oil_n of_o joy_n for_o mourning_n the_o garment_n of_o gladness_n for_o the_o spirit_n of_o heaviness_n that_o they_o night_n be_v call_v true_a of_o righteousness_n etc._n etc._n and_o thâ—se_a party_n and_o these_o grace_n be_v not_o such_o as_o be_v obnoxious_a sterility_n and_o barrenness_n or_o to_o bear_v evil_a fruit_n but_o such_o as_o by_o
