civil_a conversation_n and_o the_o hope_n of_o better_v they_o force_v it_o upon_o we_o we_o will_v have_v no_o society_n with_o those_o that_o we_o see_v be_v in_o the_o state_n of_o nature_n what_o issue_v from_o they_o but_o stench_n eye_n full_a of_o adultery_n nothing_o that_o be_v please_a can_v come_v from_o they_o nothing_o can_v come_v from_o all_o their_o sense_n but_o rottenness_n and_o stench_n what_o comfort_n can_v a_o man_n that_o love_v his_o own_o soul_n and_o have_v any_o desire_n to_o be_v save_v have_v by_o intimate_a converse_n with_o such_o person_n let_v they_o have_v never_o so_o good_a part_n they_o hurt_v more_o one_o way_n than_o they_o do_v good_a another_o you_o see_v we_o be_v all_o dead_a by_o nature_n and_o what_o this_o death_n be_v object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v there_o be_v a_o difference_n between_o natural_a death_n and_o spiritual_a death_n for_o in_o natural_a bodily_a death_n there_o be_v no_o move_n but_o in_o this_o spiritual_a death_n of_o the_o soul_n man_n have_v sense_n and_o motion_n etc._n etc._n answ._n it_o be_v true_a thus_o far_o they_o differ_v though_o a_o man_n be_v spiritual_o dead_a death_n yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o have_v foot_n to_o carry_v he_o to_o the_o house_n of_o god_n he_o have_v ear_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n he_o have_v ability_n of_o nature_n upon_o which_o grace_n be_v found_v god_n different_a from_o the_o state_n of_o person_n that_o be_v carry_v to_o good_a thing_n but_o not_o violent_o the_o violent_a take_v it_o he_o surprise_v the_o city_n at_o the_o last_o he_o lay_v his_o siege_n and_o will_v not_o remove_v till_o death_n he_o will_v not_o give_v over_o till_o he_o have_v it_o he_o will_v have_v it_o or_o he_o will_v die_v in_o the_o business_n and_o so_o at_o last_o he_o obtain_v his_o desire_n the_o sluggish_a careless_a man_n he_o go_v a_o little_a way_n as_o agrippa_n say_v to_o paul_n he_o be_v almost_o persuade_v to_o be_v a_o christian_n 26.28_o so_o it_o be_v with_o such_o man_n in_o some_o thing_n they_o will_v be_v christian_n but_o there_o they_o be_v at_o a_o stand_n they_o will_v go_v no_o far_o and_o so_o all_o they_o have_v do_v be_v to_o no_o purpose_n 4._o the_o sluggard_n desire_v and_o wish_v but_o his_o soul_n have_v nothing_o a_o sluggish_a cold_a lazy_a christian_a he_o lose_v all_o his_o pain_n if_o a_o man_n be_v to_o go_v ten_o that_o few_o be_v save_v because_o they_o content_v themselves_o with_o easy_a dull_a and_o drowsy_a performance_n and_o never_o consider_v with_o what_o proportion_n they_o be_v carry_v to_o thing_n when_o they_o have_v rather_o loose_v the_o advantage_n of_o that_o which_o will_v bring_v everlasting_a good_a to_o their_o soul_n then_o loose_a the_o petty_a commodity_n of_o this_o world_n and_o yet_o think_v themselves_o good_a christian_n what_o a_o delusion_n be_v this_o it_o be_v the_o violent_a only_o that_o be_v successful_a they_o take_v it_o by_o force_n ob._n ay_o but_o what_o if_o the_o opposition_n grow_v more_o and_o more_o answ._n then_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o courage_n will_v grow_v and_o increase_v more_o and_o more_o opposition_n as_o luther_n say_v well_o the_o more_o violent_a the_o adversary_n be_v the_o more_o free_a and_o bold_a be_v he_o so_o the_o more_o the_o enemy_n rage_n the_o more_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n grow_v in_o god_n people_n it_o the_o divine_a spirit_n be_v a_o heavenly_a thing_n and_o all_o opposition_n below_o of_o the_o devil_n and_o devilish_a mind_a man_n be_v but_o earthly_a what_o be_v they_o to_o the_o divine_a spirit_n which_o set_v we_o on_o and_o encourage_v we_o they_o can_v quell_v it_o but_o the_o spirit_n grow_v more_o and_o more_o in_o opposition_n the_o apostle_n they_o run_v all_o from_o christ_n when_o he_o be_v to_o be_v crucify_v they_o have_v but_o a_o little_a measure_n of_o the_o spirit_n but_o when_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v shed_v more_o plentiful_o on_o they_o they_o begin_v to_o stand_v courageous_o for_o the_o cause_n of_o christ_n when_o there_o be_v more_o opposition_n the_o spirit_n grow_v more_o and_o more_o till_o they_o seal_v the_o truth_n with_o their_o blood_n violence_n therefore_o though_o opposition_n of_o enemy_n and_o their_o fury_n and_o rage_n grow_v let_v we_o know_v who_o cause_n we_o manage_v and_o with_o what_o assurance_n of_o success_n the_o violent_a at_o length_n shall_v take_v it_o by_o force_n let_v we_o meditate_v upon_o this_o that_o success_n be_v tie_v to_o violence_n therefore_o when_o you_o pray_v to_o god_n if_o he_o seem_v time_n to_o have_v a_o hard_a heart_n to_o shut_v up_o our_o bowel_n to_o our_o brethren_n but_o that_o be_v a_o real_a kind_n of_o humiliation_n when_o we_o think_v ourselves_o unworthy_a of_o the_o creature_n of_o meat_n or_o drink_v of_o any_o refresh_n for_o this_o humiliation_n of_o fast_v be_v a_o kind_n of_o profession_n though_o we_o speak_v not_o so_o that_o we_o be_v unworthy_a of_o these_o thing_n but_o all_o be_v nothing_o without_o inward_a humiliation_n of_o the_o soul_n verbal_a humiliation_n be_v in_o word_n as_o we_o shall_v see_v after_o in_o confession_n and_o it_o must_v come_v from_o inward_a humiliation_n of_o spirit_n use_v humiliation_n therefore_o consider_v it_o be_v here_o the_o first_o disposition_n of_o god_n people_n let_v we_o labour_n to_o work_v upon_o ourselves_o those_o consideration_n that_o may_v make_v we_o humble_a i_o will_v hâ—â—â—e_v a_o few_o first_o to_o bring_v ourselves_o to_o the_o glass_n of_o the_o law_n humiliation_n profession_n and_o have_v we_o do_v so_o let_v we_o bring_v our_o carriage_n and_o see_v how_o proportionable_a it_o be_v to_o god_n advance_v of_o we_o in_o these_o glorious_a time_n of_o the_o
