can_v confide_v in_o this_o will_v make_v he_o more_o apt_a to_o be_v free_a in_o his_o confession_n and_o if_o he_o have_v any_o modesty_n any_o ingenuity_n leave_v in_o he_o he_o can_v but_o be_v wrought_v by_o this_o method_n into_o repentance_n this_o very_a method_n may_v be_v make_v use_n of_o in_o other_o case_n as_o well_o as_o this_o as_o in_o those_o injury_n you_o see_v your_o master_n suffer_v either_o by_o the_o negligence_n or_o waist_n of_o your_o fellow-servant_n only_o where_o the_o matter_n be_v little_a and_o trifle_a you_o be_v not_o to_o communicate_v it_o with_o other_o for_o this_o will_v look_v like_o a_o formal_a and_o solemn_a impertinence_n but_o if_o he_o refuse_v to_o reform_v upon_o your_o single_a reproof_n you_o be_v to_o go_v direct_o to_o your_o master_n or_o mistress_n for_o a_o slight_a wrong_n repeat_v daily_o may_v grow_v a_o very_a outrageous_a one_o in_o time_n however_o they_o be_v the_o most_o proper_a judge_n of_o what_o be_v slight_a and_o trifle_a or_o otherwise_o for_o what_o may_v seem_v to_o you_o very_o inconsiderable_a may_v seem_v otherwise_o to_o they_o who_o best_o know_v their_o own_o mind_n and_o their_o own_o fortune_n the_o same_o thing_n last_o you_o must_v do_v in_o matter_n of_o great_a moment_n when_o those_o way_n i_o have_v prescribe_v you_o fail_v you_o must_v not_o provoke_v god_n wrong_v your_o the_o same_o thing_n for_o he_o to_o suffer_v by_o your_o negligence_n as_o fraud_n and_o i_o need_v not_o tell_v you_o where_o there_o be_v much_o trust_n or_o confidence_n on_o the_o master_n side_n and_o no_o industry_n or_o care_n on_o the_o servant_n that_o all_o must_v necessary_o go_v to_o wrack_n and_o ruin_n or_o if_o he_o suffer_v not_o in_o his_o interest_n he_o must_v suffer_v in_o the_o peace_n and_o contentment_n of_o his_o mind_n for_o there_o can_v be_v a_o great_a plague_n and_o vexation_n to_o any_o man_n than_o a_o confident_a and_o careless_a servant_n nor_o be_v it_o a_o small_a matter_n that_o the_o master_n be_v force_v to_o bear_v the_o rudeness_n and_o contempt_n which_o a_o servant_n heedlessness_n and_o idleness_n be_v too_o plain_a a_o expression_n of_o it_o be_v a_o troublesome_a thing_n to_o a_o man_n to_o be_v level_v with_o his_o own_o servant_n yet_o so_o he_o be_v in_o this_o case_n for_o if_o there_o be_v no_o authority_n in_o the_o master_n nor_o fear_v or_o care_n in_o the_o servant_n if_o though_o the_o master_n may_v command_v the_o slothful_a servant_n will_v perform_v only_o what_o he_o please_v it_o be_v hard_a to_o say_v wherein_o darkness_n who_o have_v not_o answer_v the_o trust_n commit_v to_o he_o who_o have_v only_o behave_v himself_o idle_o and_o unprofitable_o though_o he_o have_v neither_o wrong_v his_o master_n by_o fraud_n or_o theft_n or_o waste_v and_o riot_n alas_o the_o unprofitable_a servant_n must_v not_o flatter_v himself_o that_o he_o do_v his_o duty_n for_o care_n and_o industry_n be_v as_o essential_a and_o necessary_a part_n of_o the_o faithfulness_n of_o a_o servant_n as_o truth_n and_o honesty_n and_o he_o that_o any_o time_n stand_v idle_a can_v never_o be_v excuse_v unless_o he_o can_v plead_v what_o they_o in_o the_o marketplace_n do_v to_o that_o question_n why_o stand_v you_o here_o idle_a all_o the_o day_n long_o because_o no_o man_n have_v hire_v we_o but_o you_o be_v hire_v you_o have_v no_o doubt_n work_v to_o do_v for_o no_o master_n will_v purchase_v heedlessness_n and_o sloth_n at_o the_o rate_n of_o such_o a_o charge_n as_o a_o servant_n put_v he_o to_o nor_o can_v i_o think_v that_o a_o servant_n himself_o will_v judge_v this_o behaviour_n a_o good_a discharge_n of_o any_o man_n duty_n in_o any_o other_o station_n will_v he_o think_v that_o master_n do_v his_o duty_n who_o make_v no_o provision_n for_o his_o family_n and_o yet_o care_n and_o industry_n be_v as_o indispensible_a a_o duty_n of_o the_o servant_n as_o provision_n or_o maintenance_n of_o the_o master_n but_o i_o need_v say_v no_o more_o if_o nothing_o else_o will_v the_o effect_n of_o this_o ill_a demeanour_n may_v convince_v a_o servant_n how_o great_a a_o evil_a this_o be_v for_o beside_o the_o loss_n and_o vexation_n which_o it_o create_v the_o master_n it_o beget_v perpetual_a quarrel_n and_o discontent_n in_o the_o family_n for_o the_o fellow-servant_n of_o a_o sluggard_n be_v not_o only_o bereave_v of_o that_o assistance_n which_o they_o shall_v receive_v from_o he_o but_o also_o oppress_v by_o that_o burden_n of_o which_o he_o ease_v his_o shoulder_n the_o drone_n himself_o be_v force_v upon_o many_o lie_v and_o shift_n to_o excuse_v his_o omission_n and_o error_n and_o final_o after_o some_o time_n spend_v in_o the_o displeasure_n of_o his_o master_n the_o contempt_n and_o hatred_n of_o his_o fellow-servant_n he_o be_v at_o last_o reproachful_o cast_v off_o and_o brand_v with_o such_o a_o character_n as_o make_v all_o that_o know_v he_o shut_v their_o door_n against_o he_o as_o unwilling_a to_o receive_v such_o a_o trouble_n and_o encumbrance_n into_o their_o family_n there_o be_v a_o three_o vice_n be_v of_o consumption_n and_o be_v which_o servant_n be_v too_o often_o guilty_a of_o where_o the_o fortune_n of_o the_o family_n can_v allow_v it_o and_o that_o be_v consumption_n &_o be_v whether_o by_o wantonness_n and_o delicacy_n whether_o by_o riot_n and_o excess_n whether_o by_o junket_v and_o drink_v among_o themselves_o or_o also_o by_o draw_v in_o other_o into_o the_o club_n and_o association_n it_o matter_n little_a it_o be_v a_o downright_a injustice_n commit_v against_o the_o master_n it_o be_v every_o jot_n as_o bad_a as_o theft_n much_o worse_a than_o the_o common_a theft_n of_o poor_a people_n for_o the_o poor_a steal_n to_o relieve_v their_o necessity_n but_o these_o rob_v to_o feed_v their_o gluttony_n and_o wantonness_n nay_o it_o be_v every_o jot_n as_o bad_a as_o theft_n in_o a_o servant_n the_o guilt_n of_o which_o have_v be_v sufficient_o display_v to_o you_o before_o for_o what_o difference_n be_v there_o either_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o the_o crime_n or_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o effect_n of_o it_o towards_o a_o master_n whether_o a_o servant_n steal_v from_o he_o out_o of_o covetousness_n or_o fear_n of_o future_a want_n or_o whether_o he_o rob_v and_o plunder_v he_o out_o of_o luxury_n and_o riot_n if_o so_o than_o you_o may_v be_v sure_a that_o if_o the_o wrong_n be_v the_o same_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o master_n and_o the_o guilt_n the_o same_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o servant_n the_o temporal_a ill_a consequence_n of_o it_o in_o this_o life_n and_o the_o punishment_n of_o it_o in_o another_o will_v be_v much_o the_o same_o for_o such_o servant_n must_v final_o without_o repentance_n and_o amendment_n be_v abandon_v and_o forsake_v by_o god_n and_o man_n and_o according_o it_o be_v general_o observe_v and_o i_o have_v mark_v it_o myself_o that_o such_o as_o have_v be_v extreme_o prodigal_a wanton_a and_o wasteful_a in_o their_o master_n house_n have_v be_v afterward_o reduce_v to_o extreme_a poverty_n even_o to_o the_o want_n of_o a_o of_o the_o evil_n which_o will_v punish_v it_o who_o know_v not_o how_o many_o plague_n be_v denounce_v against_o it_o by_o god_n what_o infamy_n attend_v it_o from_o man_n what_o secret_a shame_n and_o disquiet_v it_o torture_n the_o mind_n with_o and_o final_o how_o it_o certain_o involve_v the_o liar_n in_o temporal_a and_o eternal_a ruin_n let_v the_o servant_n therefore_o as_o he_o will_v avoid_v all_o this_o always_o keep_v up_o to_o strict_a truth_n in_o his_o word_n if_o he_o have_v commit_v a_o fault_n let_v he_o not_o go_v about_o to_o excuse_v it_o by_o the_o commission_n of_o a_o great_a that_o be_v by_o lie_v let_v he_o rather_o choose_v to_o try_v the_o goodness_n of_o his_o master_n by_o a_o humble_a and_o honest_a confession_n than_o tempt_v he_o to_o suspicion_n by_o frivolous_a excuse_n or_o barefaced_a untruth_n however_o if_o he_o shall_v think_v his_o master_n stupid_a enough_o to_o be_v impose_v on_o by_o any_o idle_a tale_n yet_o let_v he_o remember_v that_o he_o have_v a_o master_n in_o heaven_n who_o may_v be_v conquer_v by_o confession_n and_o repentance_n but_o can_v be_v impose_v upon_o or_o mock_v by_o any_o slight_a or_o artifice_n of_o word_n i_o and_o that_o in_o whatever_o station_n a_o man_n be_v there_o be_v nothing_o can_v render_v he_o more_o prosperous_a in_o it_o or_o more_o effectual_o recommend_v he_o to_o a_o better_a than_o a_o faithful_a and_o conscientious_a discharge_n of_o the_o duty_n of_o his_o place_n nor_o do_v solomon_n when_o he_o ascribe_v to_o wisdom_n these_o glorious_a effect_n or_o fruit_n length_n of_o day_n riches_n and_o honour_n understand_v by_o wisdom_n subtlety_n craft_n or_o worldly_a policy_n but_o pure_o a_o sincere_a performance_n of_o our_o duty_n towards_o god_n and_o man_n have_v therefore_o lie_v under_o to_o the_o duty_n prescribe_v he_o i_o will_v descend_v to_o a_o particular_a consideration_n of_o his_o interest_n a_o thing_n which_o servant_n as_o well_o as_o other_o be_v allow_v nay_o oblige_v to_o pursue_v and_o advance_v by_o all_o fair_a mean_n it_o will_v easy_o be_v grant_v that_o the_o interest_n of_o a_o servant_n consist_v in_o these_o three_o thing_n his_o credit_n the_o love_n of_o his_o master_n etc._n etc._n the_o profit_n of_o his_o place_n it_o be_v therefore_o a_o duty_n which_o concern_v a_o servant_n to_o consider_v what_o course_n he_o must_v take_v to_o promote_v these_o three_o advance_v the_o servant_n credit_v how_o advance_v first_o then_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o ground_n of_o a_o servant_n credit_n or_o reputation_n it_o depend_v upon_o a_o opinion_n of_o his_o religion_n or_o virtue_n and_o of_o his_o ability_n or_o sufficiency_n for_o the_o place_n he_o undertake_v as_o to_o this_o latter_a it_o be_v not_o my_o business_n to_o valuable_a and_o considerable_a to_o they_o for_o such_o be_v the_o beauty_n and_o majesty_n of_o virtue_n that_o it_o command_v from_o all_o some_o degree_n of_o affection_n and_o respect_n and_o such_o be_v the_o manifold_a use_n of_o it_o in_o the_o world_n that_o he_o who_o be_v possess_v of_o it_o be_v present_o account_v of_o as_o more_o worthy_a and_o more_o serviceable_a than_o other_o man_n which_o be_v a_o character_n which_o command_v esteem_v now_o if_o you_o will_v possess_v man_n with_o the_o persuasion_n of_o your_o virtue_n the_o most_o effectual_a way_n be_v real_o to_o be_v what_o you_o will_v fain_o appear_v to_o be_v for_o a_o hypocrite_n can_v long_o be_v conceal_v and_o when_o he_o be_v discover_v he_o look_v more_o loathsome_a than_o a_o open_a sinner_n
