affliction_n because_o they_o be_v not_o persuade_v at_o all_o or_o not_o at_o that_o time_n when_o they_o be_v in_o temptation_n that_o adversity_n or_o the_o cross_n be_v for_o their_o good_a or_o at_o least_o not_o that_o particular_a cross_n and_o in_o that_o manner_n that_o it_o be_v upon_o they_o which_o if_o they_o can_v come_v unto_o whatsoever_o shall_v be_v lay_v upon_o they_o they_o will_v not_o great_o complain_v of_o it_o for_o the_o hope_n of_o future_a good_a will_v mitigate_v and_o assuage_v all_o therefore_o all_o such_o be_v to_o meditate_v upon_o that_o which_o have_v already_o be_v speak_v concern_v this_o matter_n namely_o how_o many_o way_n by_o affliction_n the_o lord_n do_v we_o good_a in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n when_o he_o say_v to_o they_o that_o love_n god_n that_o be_v all_o thing_n work_v together_o for_o the_o best_a unto_o they_o that_o love_n god_n as_o he_o thereby_o restrain_v this_o general_a promise_n because_o it_o be_v not_o make_v to_o all_o so_o he_o show_v to_o who_o it_o appertain_v namely_o to_o those_o that_o believe_v in_o christ_n and_o be_v sanctify_v by_o his_o spirit_n whereof_o this_o be_v one_o special_a fruit_n the_o love_n of_o god_n for_o he_o intreat_v here_o of_o the_o certainty_n of_o the_o salvation_n of_o those_o that_o belong_v unto_o christ_n as_o appear_v by_o the_o first_o word_n of_o the_o chapter_n 8.1_o rom._n 8.1_o now_o then_o there_o be_v no_o condemnation_n to_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n which_o walk_v not_o after_o the_o flesh_n but_o after_o the_o spirit_n where_o he_o also_o discern_v the_o true_a believer_n from_o other_o by_o this_o fruit_n of_o faith_n namely_o sanctification_n &_o here_o he_o do_v name_n one_o principal_a of_o it_o which_o be_v uncircumcision_n avail_v any_o thing_n but_o faith_n which_o work_v by_o love_n where_o his_o meaning_n be_v that_o no_o outward_a thing_n or_o service_n of_o god_n though_o command_v by_o he_o as_o circumcision_n be_v commend_v we_o to_o god_n or_o make_v we_o acceptable_a unto_o god_n but_o only_o christ_n and_o his_o obedience_n which_o we_o take_v hold_v of_o and_o so_o make_v we_o by_o faith_n which_o faith_n be_v then_o effectual_a and_o lively_a when_o it_o breed_v in_o we_o a_o love_n which_o love_n appear_v by_o the_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o the_o same_o so_o then_o the_o apostle_n here_o under_o one_o fruit_n which_o be_v love_n comprehend_v all_o godliness_n and_o sanctification_n but_o he_o take_v this_o thing_n rather_o than_o any_o other_o the_o love_n of_o god_n as_o that_o that_o be_v most_o fit_a for_o his_o purpose_n for_o speak_v of_o affliction_n he_o say_v that_o by_o this_o we_o shall_v try_v our_o faith_n if_o our_o love_n to_o god_n continue_v even_o then_o so_o that_o we_o cease_v not_o to_o love_n god_n though_o he_o afflict_v us._n for_o whereas_o the_o very_a wicked_a will_v pretend_v to_o love_n god_n in_o prosperity_n and_o as_o long_o as_o all_o thing_n go_v well_o with_o they_o they_o will_v profess_v that_o they_o love_v god_n as_o much_o as_o any_o yea_o and_o that_o they_o be_v worse_o than_o the_o bruit_n beast_n if_o that_o they_o do_v not_o love_v he_o and_o that_o with_o all_o their_o heart_n who_o bestow_v all_o thing_n upon_o they_o so_o liberal_o and_o many_o such_o glorious_a word_n they_o will_v utter_v but_o in_o adversity_n and_o when_o god_n lay_v affliction_n upon_o they_o their_o love_n be_v change_v yea_o they_o fall_v into_o open_a hatred_n and_o defiance_n with_o god_n yea_o even_o unto_o plain_a curse_v and_o ban_v as_o appear_v by_o the_o example_n of_o job_n wife_n who_o say_v unto_o her_o husband_n â—_o job_n 2._o â—_o do_v thou_o continue_v still_o in_o thy_o uprightness_n blaspheme_v god_n and_o die_v but_o he_o that_o love_v god_n true_o love_v he_o not_o for_o his_o back_n and_o belly_n as_o we_o say_v but_o because_o he_o be_v goodness_n itself_o and_o therefore_o principal_o to_o be_v belove_v for_o himself_o and_o so_o their_o love_n continue_v though_o all_o outward_a blessing_n be_v take_v away_o and_o herein_o the_o wicked_a too_o manifest_o bewray_v vile_a mind_n and_o servile_a nature_n that_o like_a as_o servant_n love_v not_o their_o master_n nor_o maiden_n their_o mistress_n if_o they_o once_o begin_v to_o correct_v they_o for_o their_o fault_n &_o so_o grow_v weary_a of_o they_o and_o be_v ready_a to_o run_v away_o from_o they_o as_o the_o maid_n servant_n hagar_n the_o egyptian_a do_v from_o her_o mistress_n sarai_n 16.6_o gen._n 16.6_o but_o the_o godly_a do_v this_o way_n as_o apparent_o show_v their_o liberal_a nature_n and_o ingenuous_a disposition_n in_o that_o as_o no_o correction_n or_o stripe_n of_o the_o father_n or_o mother_n can_v make_v the_o child_n to_o change_v his_o love_n to_o they_o &_o whole_o to_o alienate_v his_o mind_n from_o they_o much_o less_o can_v they_o drive_v he_o clean_o away_o from_o they_o but_o he_o will_v abide_v in_o their_o house_n and_o in_o all_o his_o need_n resort_n to_o they_o for_o succour_n so_o will_v they_o still_o in_o affliction_n love_n god_n and_o depend_v upon_o he_o for_o all_o thing_n
