as_o to_o be_v in_o fine_a apparel_n it_o be_v certain_a sin_n reign_v in_o he_o and_o so_o he_o be_v in_o the_o state_n of_o damnation_n as_o a_o scholar_n that_o whole_o aim_v at_o vain_a glory_n and_o how_o to_o get_v honour_n and_o credit_n that_o sin_n reign_v in_o he_o but_o there_o be_v many_o which_o seem_v religious_a object_n man_n which_o have_v these_o infirmity_n in_o they_o in_o the_o scripture_n true_o and_o many_o therefore_o not_o true_o regenerate_v answ._n but_o seem_v only_o so_o now_o many_o make_v a_o fair_a show_n under_o the_o mean_n when_o fall_v into_o temptation_n they_o fall_v away_o but_o if_o they_o be_v not_o command_v or_o think_v not_o of_o it_o great_a fault_n may_v stand_v with_o true_a grace_n but_o if_o they_o be_v admonish_v by_o their_o conscience_n or_o other_o and_o tell_v they_o must_v not_o do_v it_o than_o their_o estate_n be_v not_o good_a for_o true_a grace_n can_v stand_v with_o these_o fail_n now_o the_o sign_n whereby_o we_o may_v know_v whether_o we_o live_v in_o know_a sin_n or_o not_o be_v these_o 1._o live_v in_o a_o know_a sin_n be_v of_o two_o sort_n 1._o know_v when_o man_n sell_v themselves_o to_o commit_v sin_n the_o sign_n whereof_o be_v these_o 1._o when_o a_o man_n commit_v it_o ordinary_o this_o be_v that_o paul_n say_v that_o the_o saint_n fall_v upon_o occasion_n as_o if_o a_o man_n be_v sail_v into_o france_n a_o tempest_n drive_v he_o into_o spain_n so_o the_o saint_n face_n be_v towards_o heaven_n but_o a_o sudden_a passion_n may_v drive_v they_o another_o way_n to_o commit_v sin_n ordinary_o be_v to_o commit_v it_o when_o temptation_n assail_v and_o occasion_n be_v offer_v and_o impediment_n remove_v than_o he_o commit_v the_o sin_n ordinary_o for_o if_o there_o be_v such_o lust_n mortify_v he_o be_v well_o please_v with_o he_o that_o bring_v he_o a_o knife_n to_o cut_v it_o off_o because_o he_o do_v as_o he_o will_v have_v he_o to_o do_v but_o when_o man_n be_v purpose_v to_o lie_v in_o sin_n they_o do_v as_o a_o man_n do_v with_o physic_n that_o he_o loathe_v he_o hate_v even_o the_o very_a pot_n itself_o wherein_o it_o be_v so_o they_o hate_v they_o that_o admonish_v they_o even_o as_o dog_n but_o if_o they_o can_v endure_v the_o company_n of_o good_a man_n it_o be_v a_o sign_n their_o heart_n be_v good_a three_o abstinence_n from_o occasion_n for_o many_o say_v their_o infirmity_n make_v they_o run_v into_o such_o and_o such_o sin_n but_o if_o they_o be_v mind_v to_o leave_v their_o sin_n they_o will_v leave_v their_o evil_a company_n and_o all_o occasion_n to_o this_o add_v the_o use_n of_o the_o mean_n for_o he_o that_o purpose_v to_o forsake_v his_o sin_n will_v use_v the_o mean_n as_o if_o a_o man_n that_o be_v a_o drunkard_n will_v keep_v drunkard_n company_n he_o have_v not_o purpose_v to_o forsake_v his_o sin_n for_o than_o he_o will_v forsake_v and_o leave_v his_o evil_a company_n but_o if_o he_o use_v the_o mean_n for_o mortify_v the_o sin_n he_o love_v than_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n he_o be_v willing_a to_o leave_v sin_n now_o the_o mean_n for_o mortify_v sinful_a lust_n in_o we_o be_v these_o first_o to_o make_v a_o vow_n not_o to_o commit_v that_o sin_n nor_o touch_v the_o occasion_n for_o than_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n our_o heart_n be_v sincere_a this_o be_v a_o comfort_n to_o those_o that_o have_v make_v vow_n which_o shall_v be_v more_o use_v not_o to_o make_v perpetual_a vow_n but_o for_o some_o short_a time_n second_o to_o fast_o and_o pray_v for_o some_o lust_n be_v not_o cast_v out_o but_o by_o these_o three_o three_o to_o use_v godly_a man_n company_n for_o their_o practice_n and_o example_n help_v they_o to_o forsake_v their_o sin_n to_o fast_o and_o pray_v another_o sign_n of_o not_o lie_v in_o any_o know_a sin_n be_v when_o a_o man_n pray_v for_o admonition_n that_o god_n will_v stir_v up_o some_o to_o admonish_v he_o and_o can_v be_v content_a to_o search_v reason_n out_o of_o the_o scripture_n against_o it_o and_o be_v glad_a when_o he_o hear_v it_o reprove_v in_o the_o public_a ministry_n four_o when_o we_o can_v be_v content_a to_o be_v deprive_v of_o many_o thing_n which_o may_v further_o our_o lust_n and_o to_o loathe_v what_o sweetness_n may_v increase_v they_o that_o be_v a_o sure_a sign_n that_o sin_n rule_v not_o in_o we_o five_o when_o a_o man_n confess_v his_o sin_n particular_o and_o plain_o for_o this_o be_v a_o sign_n he_o will_v forsake_v they_o this_o reason_n the_o scripture_n do_v show_v because_o then_o the_o conscience_n make_v such_o a_o noise_n that_o he_o can_v deny_v it_o for_o when_o a_o man_n be_v purpose_v to_o continue_v in_o sin_n he_o will_v not_o confess_v his_o sin_n no_o not_o to_o god_n it_o be_v say_v when_o they_o come_v to_o john_n baptist_n they_o confess_v their_o sin_n matth._n 3._o 6._o so_o david_n say_v i_o say_v i_o will_v confess_v my_o transgression_n unto_o the_o lord_n and_o thou_o forgave_v the_o iniquity_n of_o my_o sin_n psal._n 32._o 5._o six_o when_o he_o be_v easy_o convict_v but_o when_o man_n will_v not_o be_v convict_v but_o seek_v out_o distinction_n to_o maintain_v their_o sin_n it_o be_v a_o yet_o both_o natural_a three_o a_o godly_a man_n have_v most_o conscience_n paul_n speak_v of_o the_o heathen_a that_o they_o have_v a_o conscience_n that_o do_v accuse_v and_o excuse_v they_o but_o when_o a_o man_n do_v not_o commit_v sin_n be_v enlighten_v by_o a_o spiritual_a conscience_n which_o be_v when_o a_o man_n have_v a_o love_n to_o the_o contrary_a grace_n and_o be_v carry_v with_o a_o certain_a desire_n to_o do_v it_o as_o man_n eat_v though_o there_o be_v no_o reward_n and_o hate_v the_o sin_n and_o will_v not_o commit_v it_o this_o be_v a_o good_a sign_n that_o sin_n have_v not_o dominion_n over_o he_o but_o a_o man_n may_v have_v a_o restraint_n from_o a_o natural_a conscience_n yet_o it_o may_v have_v dominion_n over_o he_o because_o it_o be_v as_o a_o bark_a dog_n
