know_v that_o first_o they_o must_v be_v cut_v off_o from_o their_o own_o stock_n and_o then_o they_o must_v be_v ingra_v into_o that_o and_o then_o see_v whether_o they_o have_v the_o fatness_n of_o the_o olive_n and_o then_o whether_o they_o bear_v the_o olive_n leave_v so_o a_o man_n that_o have_v not_o receive_v the_o the_o spirit_n by_o the_o word_n he_o shall_v see_v it_o by_o the_o ripeness_n of_o sin_n the_o corrupt_a branch_n the_o bitter_a fruit_n that_o come_v and_o be_v bring_v forth_o by_o he_o but_o on_o the_o contrary_a if_o the_o word_n by_o the_o spirit_n have_v cut_v holy_a you_o know_v that_o place_n whether_o you_o eat_v or_o drink_v or_o whatsoever_o you_o do_v do_v all_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n that_o be_v respect_n god_n in_o it_o make_v not_o once_o in_o the_o year_n and_o do_v some_o other_o outward_a performance_n they_o think_v they_o make_v god_n some_o amends_o but_o alas_o it_o be_v not_o so_o the_o lord_n abhor_v all_o those_o christian_a that_o be_v in_o christ_n that_o can_v possible_o be_v clean_a without_o they_o only_o the_o difference_n be_v some_o have_v more_o some_o less_o but_o let_v we_o all_o well_o weigh_v they_o and_o they_o will_v appear_v all_o but_o conceit_n and_o to_o have_v no_o reality_n and_o truth_n in_o they_o 1._o now_o the_o first_o of_o these_o be_v that_o it_o be_v presumption_n which_o be_v a_o conceit_n the_o papist_n take_v up_o and_o be_v in_o we_o all_o 1._o so_o far_o as_o we_o be_v natural_o popish_a we_o think_v this_o faith_n be_v but_o a_o presumption_n yet_o this_o be_v but_o a_o mere_a conceit_n for_o if_o we_o have_v faith_n it_o assure_v we_o through_o christ_n that_o nothing_o can_v destroy_v we_o all_o presumption_n be_v either_o upon_o a_o man_n own_o merit_n or_o god_n mercy_n as_o divine_v acknowledge_v now_o that_o faith_n do_v neither_o of_o these_o it_o be_v plain_a for_o he_o first_o that_o know_v christ_n according_a to_o his_o word_n lay_v hold_v on_o christ_n merit_n and_o god_n mercy_n in_o he_o and_o so_o apply_v and_o rest_v thereupon_o before_o god_n labour_v to_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n and_o so_o be_v assure_v of_o god_n love_n and_o this_o be_v no_o presum_fw-la tion_n for_o he_o rely_v not_o upon_o his_o own_o merit_n but_o christ_n 2._o this_o faith_n build_v not_o on_o god_n mercy_n at_o large_a but_o 2._o on_o his_o mercy_n in_o christ_n he_o believe_v on_o he_o that_o have_v satisfy_v god_n justice_n and_o therefore_o know_v that_o god_n can_v but_o must_v needs_o show_v mercy_n if_o this_o be_v presumption_n who_o will_v seek_v after_o it_o to_o lose_v his_o labour_n but_o this_o the_o lord_n command_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o presumption_n but_o obedience_n and_o duty_n to_o do_v it_o nay_o if_o thou_o shall_v 14._o not_o seek_v after_o this_o faith_n and_o assurance_n it_o be_v a_o neglect_n 23._o and_o contempt_n of_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n a_o second_o impediment_n that_o keep_v man_n from_o seek_v this_o faith_n be_v a_o conceit_n that_o it_o be_v impossible_a ever_o to_o get_v it_o and_o this_o stick_v too_o much_o in_o our_o unbelieve_a heart_n and_o be_v strong_o root_v in_o our_o ignorant_a protestant_n that_o give_v themselves_o to_o other_o book_n but_o not_o to_o the_o careful_a and_o conscionable_a read_n of_o god_n book_n
we_o strength_n when_o we_o have_v not_o that_o we_o give_v over_o the_o power_n of_o grace_n therefore_o be_v always_o see_v in_o that_o it_o enable_v we_o to_o go_v through_o the_o work_n to_o perform_v it_o therefore_o the_o world_n be_v exceed_o deceive_v in_o the_o misapplication_n of_o that_o distinction_n the_o lord_n accept_v the_o will_n for_o the_o deed_n i_o say_v the_o misapplication_n of_o that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o there_o be_v so_o much_o laziness_n and_o dulness_n in_o man_n that_o they_o do_v not_o set_v themselves_o to_o go_v through_o with_o holy_a corinthian_n when_o they_o have_v liberal_a mind_n to_o supply_v the_o necessity_n of_o the_o church_n and_o yet_o they_o want_v money_n in_o this_o case_n say_v the_o apostle_n the_o lord_n accept_v the_o will_n for_o the_o deed_n will_v thou_o say_v now_o therefore_o because_o thou_o have_v a_o good_a desire_n to_o serve_v god_n to_o pray_v to_o keep_v to_o god_n truth_n to_o keep_v thy_o heart_n close_o to_o he_o and_o thou_o hope_v the_o lord_n will_v take_v the_o desire_n for_o the_o deed_n and_o yet_o thou_o will_v be_v negligent_a in_o they_o what_o impediment_n have_v thou_o if_o thou_o will_v bestow_v time_n in_o prayer_n if_o thou_o will_v bestow_v time_n in_o work_v on_o thy_o heart_n to_o warm_v it_o and_o to_o quicken_v it_o to_o duty_n thou_o shall_v have_v the_o deed_n as_o well_o as_o the_o will_n what_o hinder_v thou_o then_o where_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o impediment_n the_o lord_n will_v not_o accept_v the_o will_n for_o the_o deed_n look_v how_o much_o
