much_o belove_v transgression_n it_o be_v necessary_a to_o stir_v up_o their_o fear_n and_o make_v they_o see_v that_o what_o they_o pursue_v will_v rob_v they_o of_o what_o they_o love_v and_o make_v they_o miserable_a as_o well_o in_o their_o body_n as_o their_o soul_n and_o indeed_o as_o it_o rare_o happen_v that_o man_n be_v reclaim_v from_o their_o evil_a course_n but_o by_o some_o such_o disgustful_a mean_n so_o which_o be_v of_o much_o more_o force_n we_o find_v the_o apostle_n take_v this_o course_n in_o convert_v the_o unbelieving_a world_n represent_v to_o they_o first_o the_o guilt_n of_o their_o own_o sin_n and_o the_o wrath_n they_o have_v incur_v and_o then_o the_o tender_v of_o god_n goodness_n by_o that_o mean_v not_o only_o abate_v of_o their_o heat_n towards_o their_o former_a extravagancy_n but_o even_o constrain_a they_o to_o take_v a_o view_n of_o the_o beauty_n of_o religion_n which_o otherwise_o they_o will_v never_o have_v consider_v 2._o but_o beside_o that_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n be_v of_o singular_a use_n in_o bring_v man_n to_o christ_n and_o to_o god_n it_o be_v also_o such_o after_o our_o conversion_n to_o he_o yea_o throughout_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o our_o life_n and_o here_o not_o to_o insist_v upon_o the_o apostle_n persuade_v even_o such_o by_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o lord_n their_o exhort_v they_o to_o work_v out_o their_o salvation_n with_o fear_n and_o tremble_a and_o to_o serve_v god_n acceptable_o with_o reverence_n and_o godly_a fear_n i_o shall_v content_v myself_o to_o propose_v to_o your_o consideration_n the_o remain_v of_o that_o evil_a nature_n which_o be_v in_o the_o very_o best_a of_o we_o and_o how_o much_o more_o than_o in_o the_o generality_n of_o believer_n for_o these_o will_v show_v it_o to_o be_v as_o necessary_a to_o keep_v we_o in_o the_o way_n as_o it_o be_v to_o bring_v we_o into_o it_o it_o be_v true_a indeed_o if_o grace_n do_v at_o once_o purify_v the_o heart_n only_o to_o forget_v but_o to_o despise_v they_o but_o when_o beside_o the_o obligation_n of_o god_n goodness_n man_n have_v always_o before_o their_o eye_n the_o strictness_n of_o his_o justice_n when_o they_o consider_v as_o well_o what_o vengeance_n will_v pursue_v they_o if_o they_o go_v astray_o as_o how_o great_a encouragement_n they_o have_v to_o walk_v in_o that_o way_n which_o god_n have_v mark_v out_o to_o they_o then_o i_o say_v even_o flesh_n and_o blood_n will_v startle_v at_o the_o evil_a that_o present_v itself_o and_o avoid_v it_o lest_o it_o become_v miserable_a by_o it_o passion_n in_o you_o but_o to_o

follow_v not_o from_o thence_o that_o the_o heathen_a think_v their_o image_n to_o be_v animate_v by_o they_o and_o like_o soul_n and_o body_n in_o man_n to_o make_v up_o one_o person_n so_o the_o mere_a lurk_v of_o evil_a spirit_n in_o the_o idol_n they_o adore_v will_v make_v no_o material_a difference_n between_o the_o idolatry_n of_o the_o heathen_a and_o the_o christian_a the_o heathen_a as_o well_o as_o the_o christian_a idolater_n pass_v his_o worship_n through_o the_o image_n to_o that_o deity_n he_o believe_v to_o lurk_v in_o it_o my_o second_o argument_n against_o the_o worship_v of_o god_n by_o a_o image_n shall_v be_v take_v from_o the_o crime_n of_o the_o israelite_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o calf_n as_o well_o that_o which_o aaron_n make_v in_o the_o absence_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o the_o almighty_a the_o latter_a call_n it_o idolatry_n in_o express_a term_n 1_o cor._n 10.7_o for_o exhort_v as_o he_o do_v neither_o be_v you_o idolater_n as_o be_v some_o of_o they_o as_o it_o be_v write_v the_o people_n sit_v down_o to_o eat_v and_o to_o drink_v and_o rise_v up_o to_o play_v he_o thereby_o plain_o declare_v their_o feast_n before_o the_o calf_n for_o that_o be_v it_o he_o refer_v to_o as_o you_o may_v see_v exod._a 32.6_o to_o be_v pure_a and_o perfect_a idolatry_n which_o place_n be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o to_o be_v remark_v because_o it_o do_v not_o only_o brand_v the_o jew_n for_o it_o but_o caution_n we_o christian_n against_o it_o and_o that_o too_o under_o the_o fear_n of_o the_o like_a displeasure_n lest_o any_o shall_v say_v as_o some_o have_v do_v that_o this_o precept_n concern_v the_o jew_n only_o and_o thereby_o leave_v we_o at_o liberty_n to_o transgress_v it_o for_o if_o as_o st._n paul_n afterward_o infer_v that_o and_o
