prayer_n either_o vocal_a or_o mental_a in_o the_o church_n or_o in_o their_o closet_n to_o their_o parent_n etc._n etc._n which_o may_v be_v in_o china_n or_o virginia_n or_o but_o in_o france_n i_o shall_v therefore_o henceforward_o pay_v a_o great_a degree_n of_o love_n and_o respect_n for_o the_o b._n angel_n and_o saint_n but_o i_o shall_v forbear_v religious_o to_o invoke_v or_o pray_v to_o they_o 1._o because_o they_o be_v but_o my_o fellow-creature_n and_o 2._o because_o it_o be_v much_o more_o absurd_a and_o unreasonable_a to_o call_v upon_o they_o then_o to_o call_v upon_o my_o believe_v in_o i._n e._n put_v our_o hope_n trust_v and_o confidence_n in_o the_o virgin_n mary_n or_o any_o other_o saint_n which_o be_v but_o creature_n as_o we_o do_v believe_v in_o god_n the_o creator_n why_o shall_v we_o invocate_v and_o pray_v unto_o they_o what_o sacrilege_n as_o well_o as_o folly_n be_v this_o but_o reverend_a father_n if_o this_o be_v not_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o these_o two_o text_n i_o humble_o inquire_v of_o you_o what_o be_v the_o infallible_a sense_n of_o they_o and_o how_o i_o may_v be_v infallible_o certain_a that_o what_o you_o say_v be_v the_o sense_n be_v indeed_o so_o quere_z xii_o but_o reverend_a father_n i_o be_o not_o ignorant_a that_o some_o of_o our_o church_n argue_v that_o we_o ought_v to_o pray_v to_o saint_n and_o angel_n because_o they_o pray_v for_o we_o now_o not_o to_o dispute_v with_o you_o about_o this_o consequence_n let_v i_o only_o humble_o ask_v you_o whether_o the_o jew_n under_o the_o law_n either_o in_o their_o public_a or_o private_a worship_n pray_v to_o the_o angel_n sure_o the_o angel_n be_v in_o heaven_n before_o as_o well_o as_o since_o the_o come_n of_o our_o saviour_n and_o pray_v for_o mankind_n too_o and_o yet_o if_o you_o can_v prove_v that_o the_o jew_n pray_v to_o and_o invocate_v they_o as_o we_o now_o do_v they_o and_o the_o bless_a saint_n i_o beseech_v you_o how_o do_v it_o follow_v that_o because_o angel_n and_o saint_n pray_v for_o we_o man_n that_o therefore_o we_o be_v to_o pray_v to_o they_o but_o in_o good_a earnest_n reverend_a father_n be_v not_o the_o true_a question_n some_o of_o these_o thing_n follow_v have_v not_o the_o protestant_n infinite_o the_o better_a of_o we_o in_o this_o weighty_a matter_n either_o 1._o that_o god_n give_v no_o such_o law_n to_o the_o jew_n or_o 2._o that_o he_o have_v repeal_v it_o or_o 3._o that_o our_o saviour_n when_o he_o tell_v the_o devil_n that_o god_n only_o be_v to_o be_v worship_v yet_o he_o mean_v that_o good_a spirit_n but_o not_o evil_a be_v likewise_o to_o be_v worship_v together_o with_o god_n so_o that_o i_o humble_o ask_v what_o signify_v to_o any_o rational_a man_n that_o argument_n of_o the_o council_n of_o trent_n viz._n that_o it_o be_v good_a and_o profitable_a humble_o to_o pray_v to_o the_o saint_n unless_o we_o can_v show_v plain_o that_o god_n have_v command_v it_o be_v the_o authority_n of_o a_o council_n though_o never_o so_o general_n sufficient_a to_o repeal_v a_o express_a law_n of_o god_n which_o say_v god_n only_o be_v to_o be_v worship_v quere_z xiii_o beside_o reverend_a father_n i_o excellent_a than_o other_o and_o thy_o dear_a friend_n when_o at_o the_o same_o time_n the_o angry_a and_o jealous_a god_n shall_v tell_v we_o that_o he_o have_v plain_o reveal_v to_o we_o that_o every_o part_n and_o degree_n of_o religious_a worship_n be_v due_a only_o to_o he_o and_o that_o prayer_n be_v a_o principal_a part_n of_o that_o worship_n that_o be_v peculiar_a to_o he_o i_o say_v reverend_a father_n what_o will_v become_v of_o we_o when_o we_o shall_v be_v charge_v with_o give_v part_n of_o that_o honour_n and_o worship_n though_o never_o so_o inferior_a and_o for_o god_n sake_n too_o to_o the_o creature_n which_o be_v only_o due_a to_o god_n the_o creator_n this_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o vast_a consequence_n and_o therefore_o i_o humble_o and_o earnest_o beg_v you_o
