fall_v and_o the_o flood_n come_v and_o the_o wind_n blue_a and_o beat_v upon_o that_o house_n and_o it_o fall_v not_o for_o it_o be_v ground_v on_o a_o rock_n after_o the_o delivery_n of_o many_o notable_a instruction_n in_o this_o sermon_n of_o our_o sermon_n saviour_n christ_n whereby_o he_o have_v sufficient_o show_v himself_o to_o be_v the_o true_a prophet_n and_o doctor_n of_o his_o church_n in_o this_o verse_n and_o those_o which_o follow_v to_o the_o 28._o he_o come_v to_o lay_v down_o the_o conclusion_n of_o this_o excellent_a sermon_n wherein_o he_o do_v stir_v up_o his_o hearer_n to_o a_o notable_a duty_n namely_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o make_v light_a account_n of_o his_o doctrine_n content_v themselves_o bare_o to_o hear_v read_v or_o to_o learn_v the_o same_o but_o further_o to_o go_v about_o the_o practice_n thereof_o in_o their_o life_n and_o conversation_n and_o for_o the_o effect_n hereof_o he_o lay_v down_o here_o at_o large_a the_o fruit_n of_o their_o contrary_n in_o the_o 26._o and_o 27._o verse_n as_o we_o shall_v see_v in_o their_o place_n the_o first_o point_n be_v the_o main_a duty_n of_o every_o good_a hearer_n namely_o to_o hearer_n join_v practice_n with_o knowledge_n of_o the_o word_n of_o christ._n this_o duty_n be_v oft_o urge_v upon_o we_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n rom._n 2._o 12._o not_o the_o hearer_n of_o the_o law_n but_o the_o doer_n thereof_o shall_v be_v justify_v before_o god_n and_o saint_n james_n stand_v long_o on_o this_o duty_n jam._n 1._o 22._o be_v the_o doer_n of_o the_o word_n and_o not_o hearer_n hear_v know_v receive_v embrace_v the_o word_n of_o god_n &_o withal_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n plentiful_o and_o natural_a reason_n may_v persuade_v we_o of_o the_o weight_n of_o this_o duty_n for_o the_o best_a learning_n that_o man_n have_v in_o humane_a thing_n be_v too_o little_a or_o of_o no_o use_n without_o practice_n much_o less_o can_v divine_a doctrine_n then_o profit_v a_o man_n without_o obedience_n be_v join_v therewith_o use._n the_o consideration_n hereof_o must_v move_v we_o to_o pray_v to_o god_n the_o father_n in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n that_o he_o will_v vouchsafe_v his_o spirit_n unto_o we_o whereby_o our_o heart_n may_v be_v incline_v dispose_v &_o bend_v to_o a_o unfeigned_a love_n &_o obedience_n of_o god_n precept_n deliver_v in_o his_o holy_a word_n because_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o live_v in_o the_o practice_n of_o that_o we_o hear_v yea_o we_o must_v pray_v so_o to_o perform_v obedience_n in_o our_o life_n that_o our_o conscience_n may_v not_o only_o not_o accuse_v we_o but_o also_o excuse_v we_o before_o god_n in_o regard_n thereof_o or_o at_o least_o in_o regard_n of_o our_o true_a endeavour_n &_o desire_v to_o obey_v this_o duty_n be_v practise_v will_v minister_v true_a comfort_n unto_o we_o in_o time_n of_o distress_n yea_o in_o the_o fearful_a case_n of_o death_n itself_o hereby_o do_v good_a king_n hezekias_n terrible_a for_o if_o his_o word_n be_v thus_o powerful_a in_o his_o base_a estate_n of_o humility_n what_o force_n will_v they_o then_o have_v when_o he_o shall_v come_v in_o glory_n and_o majesty_n in_o the_o cloud_n accompany_v with_o thousand_o of_o angel_n when_o as_o his_o sight_n shall_v be_v so_o terrible_a that_o man_n shall_v call_v to_o the_o mountain_n to_o fall_v upon_o they_o and_o to_o the_o rock_n to_o grind_v they_o in_o piece_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a well_o let_v the_o consideration_n hereof_o move_v we_o to_o be_v obedient_a to_o his_o voice_n in_o the_o ministry_n of_o his_o word_n otherwise_o will_v we_o will_v we_o we_o shall_v one_o day_n be_v subject_a to_o that_o fearful_a voice_n of_o condemnation_n go_v you_o curse_v into_o everlasting_a fire_n ii_o less_o what_o be_v speak_v to_o approve_v the_o doctrine_n and_o to_o speak_v well_o of_o the_o minister_n which_o be_v good_a thing_n in_o their_o kind_n but_o yet_o this_o be_v not_o enough_o we_o must_v further_o labour_v to_o receive_v the_o word_n by_o faith_n to_o repent_v of_o our_o sin_n and_o to_o conform_v our_o heart_n and_o life_n unto_o the_o word_n luk._n 11._o 27._o when_o a_o sermon_n and_o after_o bring_v the_o whole_a body_n of_o the_o gentile_n to_o the_o faith_n ans._n no_o doubt_v he_o be_v able_a to_o have_v convert_v they_o all_o and_o we_o may_v persuade_v ourselves_o here_o be_v many_o convert_v though_o it_o be_v not_o record_v and_o though_o indeed_o the_o most_o be_v only_o astonish_v but_o this_o come_v so_o to_o pass_v that_o his_o promise_n make_v to_o his_o disciple_n may_v be_v verify_v joh._n 14._o 12._o which_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v do_v great_a work_n than_o christ_n do_v whereof_o this_o questionless_a be_v one_o to_o convert_v more_o in_o their_o ministry_n then_o christ_n do_v and_o the_o cause_n hereof_o be_v two_o i._o that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n may_v show_v himself_o willing_a to_o undergo_v that_o base_a estate_n of_o a_o servant_n wherein_o he_o be_v bear_v and_o continue_v till_o his_o exaltation_n therefore_o he_o be_v content_a to_o restrain_v the_o power_n of_o his_o godhead_n even_o from_o his_o ministry_n until_o he_o be_v exalt_v into_o glory_n ii_o that_o he_o may_v make_v it_o manifest_a in_o his_o apostle_n time_n that_o be_v ascend_v he_o do_v not_o only_o sit_v at_o the_o right_a spirit_n and_o this_o reason_n christ_n add_v joh._n 14._o v._n 12._o to_o prove_v that_o his_o disciple_n shall_v do_v great_a work_n than_o he_o do_v because_o he_o go_v unto_o his_o father_n there_o to_o rule_v and_o govern_v his_o church_n it_o may_v yet_o further_o be_v ask_v why_o christ_n do_v not_o convert_v they_o all_o see_v he_o be_v able_a be_v true_a and_o very_a god_n ans._n no_o doubt_n as_o have_v be_v say_v many_o be_v here_o convert_v yet_o not_o all_o because_o christ_n be_v now_o the_o minister_n of_o circumcision_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v that_o be_v 8._o though_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o person_n he_o be_v the_o prophet_n of_o the_o whole_a catholic_a church_n yet_o at_o this_o time_n in_o this_o action_n he_o be_v preacher_n only_o to_o the_o church_n of_o the_o jew_n in_o which_o regard_n he_o perform_v this_o duty_n as_o man_n only_o and_o so_o can_v do_v no_o more_o but_o deliver_v his_o father_n will_n unto_o they_o and_o show_v himself_o willing_a to_o convert_v they_o and_o in_o this_o manner_n he_o speak_v unto_o jerusalem_n matth._n 23._o 37._o o_o jerusalem_n jerusalem_n how_o often_o will_v i_o have_v gather_v thy_o child_n as_o a_o hen_n gather_v her_o chicken_n i_o will_v but_o you_o will_v not_o that_o be_v as_o the_o minister_n of_o circumcision_n in_o my_o own_o person_n and_o as_o god_n in_o the_o ministry_n of_o my_o prophet_n thus_o much_o of_o the_o astonishment_n itself_o now_o follow_v the_o circumstance_n whereby_o it_o be_v amplify_v and_o set_v out_o and_o they_o be_v three_o the_o first_o circumstance_n be_v the_o time_n when_o they_o be_v astonish_v namely_o when_o the_o sermon_n be_v end_v no_o doubt_v they_o be_v amaze_v in_o the_o church_n time_n of_o his_o delivery_n but_o yet_o they_o be_v silent_a all_o that_o while_n and_o show_v no_o sign_n of_o their_o affection_n till_o the_o sermon_n be_v end_v and_o this_o good_a order_n ought_v to_o be_v observe_v of_o all_o god_n people_n in_o the_o public_a ministry_n of_o the_o word_n in_o the_o build_n of_o the_o material_a temple_n there_o be_v no_o noise_n or_o knock_v hear_v so_o much_o as_o of_o a_o hammer_n whereby_o be_v signify_v that_o in_o the_o assembly_n of_o the_o saint_n where_o god_n spiritual_a temple_n be_v building_n there_o shall_v be_v the_o like_a heavenly_a order_n observe_v man_n shall_v hear_v with_o quitetnes_n and_o silence_n and_o show_v their_o â—_z afterward_o second_o we_o be_v here_o teach_v to_o labour_v not_o only_o to_o be_v affect_v in_o the_o act_n of_o hear_v while_o the_o doctrine_n be_v deliver_v but_o to_o treasure_n it_o up_o in_o our_o heart_n that_o we_o may_v afterward_o be_v affect_v with_o it_o as_o this_o multitude_n be_v the_o second_o circumstance_n here_o note_v be_v the_o person_n who_o be_v thus_o astonish_v to_o wit_n the_o people_n or_o the_o multitude_n for_o after_o the_o sermon_n be_v end_v they_o gather_v themselves_o into_o company_n and_o make_v know_v one_o to_o another_o the_o affection_n of_o their_o heart_n towards_o christ_n doctrine_n hence_o we_o may_v gather_v that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n deliver_v his_o dostrine_n plain_o plain_o unto_o the_o conscience_n of_o the_o mean_a and_o to_o the_o capacity_n of_o the_o simple_a else_o they_o can_v not_o thereby_o have_v be_v bring_v to_o wonder_v and_o this_o be_v a_o precedent_n for_o all_o minister_n to_o follow_v in_o the_o dispensation_n
