17 for he had married her Mark V. 18 For John had said unto Herod It is not lawfull for thee to have thy brothers wife Therefore Herodias had a quarrell against him Mark V. 19 and would have killed him but she could not For Herod feared John Mark V. 20 knowing that he was a just man and an holy and observed him and when he heard him he did many things and heard him gladly M Matth. XXXII Christs departure out of Judea into Galilee his discourse with the Samaritane woman and the conversion of many Samaritanes M Matth. Ch. 4 V. 12 NOw when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison and J John Ch. 4 V. 1 when therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized moe disciples then John Though Jesus himself baptized not John Ch. 4 V. 2 but his disciples He * Matth. 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 John 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 left Judea John V. 3 and departed again into Galilee And he must needs go through Samaria John V. 4 Then cometh he to a citie of Samaria John V. 5 which is called Sychar neare to the parcell of ground that Jacob gave to his sonne Joseph John V. 6 Now Jacobs well was there Jesus therefore being wearied with his journey sat thus on the well and it was about the sixth houre John V. 7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water Jesus saith unto her Give me to drink John V. 8 For his disciples were gone away into the citie to buy meat John V. 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him How is it that thou being a Jew askest drink of me which am a woman of Samaria for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritanes Jesus answered and said unto her John V. 10 If thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that saith to thee Give me to drink thou wouldest have asked of him and he would have given thee living water The woman saith unto him Sir John V. 11 thou hast nothing to draw with and the well is deep from whence then hast thou that living water Art thou greater then our father Jacob John V. 12 which gave us the well and drank thereof himself and his children and his cattell John V. 13 Jesus answered and said unto her Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again John V. 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life The woman saith unto him Sir John V. 15 give me this water that I thirst nor neither come hither to draw Jesus saith unto her Go call thy husband John V. 16 and come hither The woman answered and said John V. 17 I have no husband Jesus saith unto her Thou hast well said I have no husband John V. 18 For thou hast had five husbands and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband in that saidst thou truely John Ch. 4 V. 19 The woman saith unto him Sir I perceive that thou art a prophet John V. 20 Our father 's worshipped in this mountain and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship John V. 21 Jesus saith unto her Woman beleeve me the houre cometh when ye shall neither in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem worship the Father John V. 22 Ye worship ye know not what we know what we worship for salvation is of the Jews But the houre cometh John V. 23 and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth for the Father seeketh such to worship him God is a Spirit John V. 24 and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth The woman saith unto him John V. 25 I know that Messias cometh which is called Christ when he is come he will tell us all things John V. 26 Jesus saith unto her I that speak unto thee am he John V. 27 And upon this came his disciples and marvelled that he talked with the woman yet no man said What seekest thou or Why talkest thou with her John V. 28 The woman then left her water-pot and went her way into the citie and saith to the men Come John V. 29 see a man which told me all things that ever I did is not this the Christ Then they went out of the citie John V. 30 and came unto him John V. 31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him saying Master cat John V. 32 But he said unto them I have meat to eat that ye know not of Therefore said the disciples one to another John V. 33 Hath any man brought him ought to eat Jesus saith unto them John V. 34 My meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work John V. 35 Say not ye There are yet foure moneths and then cometh harvest Behold I say unto you lift up your eyes and look on the fields * Matth. Ch. 9 V. 37 for they are white alreadie to harvest John V. 36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages and gathereth fruit unto life eternall that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoyce together And herein is that saying true John Ch. 4 V. 37 One soweth and another reapeth John V. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour other men laboured and ye are entred into their labours And many of the Samaritanes of that citie beleeved on him John V. 39 for the saying of the woman which testified He told me all that ever I did John V. 40 So when the Samaritanes were come unto him they besought him that he would tarrie with them and he abode there two dayes John V. 41 And many moe beleeved because of his own word John V. 42 And said unto the woman Now we beleeve not be cause of thy saying for we have heard him our selves and know that this is indeed the Christ the Saviour of the world CHAP. XXXIII The second return of Christ out of Judea into Galilee he heals the Rulers sonne J John V. 43 NOw after two dayes he departed thence and went into Galilee John V. 44 For Jesus himself testified that * Matth. Ch. 13 V. 57 a prophet hath no honour in his own countrey Then when he was come into Galilee John V. 45 the Galileans received him having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast for they also went unto the feast John V. 46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee *
it he fell down at Jesus knees saying Depart from me for I am a sinfull man O Lord. XXXVII An unclean spirit is cast out in the Synagogue of Capernaum Mr. Mark V. 21 ANd they went into Capernaum L Luke Ch. 4 V. 31 a citie of Galilee Mr. Mark V. 21 and straightway on the sabbath-day day he entred into the Synagogue L Luke Ch. 4 V. 32 and taught them And they were astonished at his doctrine for his word was with power Mr. Mark Ch. 1 V. 22 for * Matth. XXXVIII Peters wives mother is healed of a sever L Luke V. 38 ANd he arose out of the Synagogue and entred into Simons house Mr. Mark V. 29 and forthwith when they were come out of the Synagogue they entred into the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John Mark V. 30 But Simons wives mother lay sick of a fever for L Luke V. 38 she was taken with a great fever Mr. Mark V. 30 and anon they tell him of her L Luke V. 38 and besought him for her M Matth. Luke Ch. 9 V. 34 thus spake M Matth. Ch. 17 V. 5 behold L Luke Ch. 9 V. 34 there came M Matth. Ch. 17 V. 5 a bright L Luke Ch. 9 V. 34 cloud and overshadowed them and they feared as they entred into the cloud M Matth. Ch. 17 V. 5 and behold L Luke V. 35 there came a voice out of the cloud saying This is my beloved Sonne M Matth. Ch. 17 V. 5 in whom I am well pleased heare ye him Matth. V. 6 And when the disciples heard it they fell on their faces and were sore afraid L Luke V. 36 And when the voice was past Jesus was found alone M Matth. V. 7 And Jesus came and touched them Matth. V. 8 and said Arise and be not afraid And when they had lift up their eyes Mr. Mark V. 8 and suddenly when they had looked round about they saw no man any more save Jesus onely with themselves CHAP. LXXXVIII Christ descends from the mountain and returns to his apostles M Matth. V. 9 ANd as they came down from the mountain Jesus charged them Mr. Mark V. 9 that they should tell no man what things they had seen till the Sonne of man were risen from the dead M Matth. V. 9 saying Tell the vision to no man untill the Sonne of man be risen again from the dead L Luke V. 36 And they kept it close Mr. Mark V. 10 and they kept that saying with themselves questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean L Luke V. 36 and told no man in those dayes any of those things which they had seen M Matth. V. 10 And his disciples asked him saying * Matth. Ch. 11 V. 14 Why then say the Scribes that Elias must first come Matth. V. 11 And Jesus answered said unto them Elias truly shall first come Mr. Mark V. 12 Elias verily cometh first M Matth. V. 11 and shall restore all things Mr. Mark V. 12 and how it is written of the Sonne of man that he must suffer many things and be set at nought M Matth. Ch. 17 V. 12 But I say unto you that Elias is come alreadie and they knew him not but have done unto him whatsoever they listed Mr. Mark Ch. 9 V. 13 as it is written of him M Matth. V. 17 Jesus Mr. Mark V. 25 rebuked the foul spirit saying unto him Thou dumbe and deaf spirit I charge thee come out of him and enter no more into him And the spirit cried Mark V. 26 rent him sore and came out of him and he was as one dead insomuch that many said Mark V. 27 He is dead But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up L Luke V. 42 and healed the childe Mr. Mark V. 27 and he arose M Matth. Christ is entertained by Martha L Luke V. 38 NOw it came to passe as they went that he entred into a certain village and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house And she had a sister called Mary Luke Ch. 10 V. 39 which also sat at Jesus feet and heard his word Luke V. 40 But Martha was cumbred about much serving and came to him and said Lord dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone bid her therefore that she help me Luke V. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her Martha Martha thou art carefull and troubled about many things Luke V. 42 But one thing is needfull and Mary hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her CHAP. CVII Christ teacheth his disciples a form of prayer The efficacie of prayer L Luke Ch. 11 V. 1 ANd it came to passe that as he was praying in a certain place when he ceased one of his disciples said unto him Lord teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples Luke V. 2 And he said unto them When ye pray say * Matth. Ch. 6 V. 9 Our Father which art in heaven Hallowed be thy name Thy kingdome come Thy will be done as in heaven so in earth Give us day by day our daily bread Luke V. 3 And forgive us our sinnes Luke V. 4 for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us And leade us not into temptation but deliver us from evil Luke V. 5 And he said unto them Which of you shall have a friend and shall go unto him at midnight and say unto him Friend lend me three loaves Luke V. 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me and I have nothing to set before him Luke V. 7 And he from within shall answer and say Trouble me not the doore is now shut and my children are with me in bed I cannot rise and give thee I say unto you Luke V. 8 Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend yet because of his importunitie he will rise and give him as many as be needeth * Matth. Ch. 7 V. 7 Luke Ch. 11 V. 9 And I say unto you Ask and it shall be given you seek and ye shall finde knock and it shall be opened unto you For every one that asketh receiveth Luke V. 10 and he that seeketh findeth and to him that knocketh it shall be opened Luke V. 11 If a sonne shall ask bread of any of you that is a father will he give him a stone or if he ask a fish will he for a fish give him a ferpent Or if he shall ask an egge Luke V. 12 will he offer him a scorpion If ye then Luke V. 13 being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children how much more shall your heavenly Father give the holy Spirit to them that ask him CHAP. CVIII Christ casts out a devil and confirms it to be done by divine power L Luke V. 14 * Matth. Ch. 12 V. 22 ANd he was casting out a devil and it was dumbe And it came to passe when the devil was gone out the dumbe spake and the people wondred But some of them said * Matth. Ch. 9 V. 34 Ch. 12 V. 24 Luke V. 15 He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils And other tempting him Luke V. 16 sought of him a signe from heaven Luke V. 17 But he knowing their thoughts said unto them Every kingdome divided against it self is brought to desolation and a house divided against a house falleth Luke V. 18 If Satan also be divided against himself how shall his kingdome stand because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub Luke V. 19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils by whom do your sonnes cast them out therefore shall they be your judges Luke V. 20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils no doubt the kingdome of God is come upon you Luke V. 21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace his goods are in peace Luke Ch. 11 V. 22 But when a stronger then he shall come upon him and overcome him he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted and divideth his spoils He that is not with me Luke V. 23 is against me and he that gathereth not with me scattereth * Matth. Ch. 12 V. 43 Luke V. 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through drie places seeking rest and finding none he suith I will return unto my house whence I came out Luke V. 25 And when he cometh he findeth it swept and garnished Luke V. 26 Then goeth he and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked then himself and they enter in and dwell there and the last state of that man is worse then the first Luke V. 27 And it came to passe as he spake these things a certain woman of the companie lift up her voice and said unto him Blessed is the wombe that bare thee and the paps which thou hast sucked But he said Yea Luke V. 28 rather blessed are they that heare the word of God and keep it * Matth. Ch. 12 V. 38 And when the people were gathered thick together Luke V. 29 he began to say This is an evil generation they seek a signe and there shall no signe be given it but the signe of Jonas the prophet Luke V. 30 For as Jonas was a signe unto the Ninevites so shall also the Sonne of man be to this generation Luke V. 31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgement with the men of this generation condemne them for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to heare the wisdome of Solomon and behold a greater then Solomon is here Luke V. 32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgement with this generation and shall condemne it for they repented at the preaching of Jonas and behold a greater then Jonas is here * Matth. CLXXIX Christ again comforteth his disciples being sorrowfull for the prediction of his departure Sect. I. J John Ch. 16 V. 5 BUt now I go my way to him that sent me and none of you asketh me Whither goest thou But because I have said these things unto you John V. 6 sorrow hath filled your heart John V. 7 Neverthelesse I tell you the truth it is expedient for you that I go away for if I go not away the Comforter will not come unto you but if I depart I will send him unto you And when he is come John V. 8 he will reprove the world of sinne and of righteousnesse and of judgement Of sinne John V. 9 because they beleeve not on me Of righteousnesse John V. 10 because I go to my Father and ye see me no more Of judgement John V. 11 because the prince of this world is judged John V. 12 I have yet many things to say unto you but ye cannot bear them now Howbeit John V. 13 when he the Spirit of truth is come he will guide you into all truth for he shall not speak of himself but whatsoever he shall heare that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come John V. 14 He shall glorifie me for he shall receive of mine and shall shew it unto you John V. 15 All things that the Father hath are mine therefore said I that he shall take of mine and shall shew it unto you Sect. A little while and ye shall not see me John V. 16 and again a little while and ye shall see me because I go to the Father John V. 17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves What is this that he saith unto us A little while and ye shall not see me and again a little while and ye shall see me and Because I go to the Father John Ch. 16 V. 18 They said therefore What is this that he saith A little while we cannot tell what he saith John V. 19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him and said unto them Do ye enquire among your selves of that I said A little while and ye shall not see me and again a little while and ye shall see me John V. 20 Verily verily I say unto you that ye shall weep and lament but the world shall rejoyce and
V. 25 NOw there stood by the crosse of Jesus his mother and his mothers sister Mary the wife of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene John V. 26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing by whom he loved he saith unto his mother Woman behold thy sonne John V. 27 Then saith he to the disciple Behold thy mother And from that houre that disciple took her unto his own home L Luke Ch. 23 V. 44 And it was about the sixth houre Mr. Mark Ch. 15 V. 33 And when the sixth houre was come there was darknesse over the whole land untill the ninth houre L Luke V. 45 And the sunne was darkened M Matth. CXCVII They give vineger to Christ being athirst He saith All things are finished and gives up his spirit which he first commended to his Father J John V. 28 AFter this Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished that the scripture might be fulfilled saith I thirst John V. 29 Now there was set a vessell full of vineger and they filled a spunge with vineger and put it upon hyssope and put it to his mouth For M Matth. V. 57 who also himself was Jesus disciple J John V. 38 but secretly for fear of the Jews L Luke V. 51 who also himself waited for the kingdome of God Luke V. 52 This man Mr. Mark V. 43 went in boldly unto Pilate and M Matth. Ch. 27 V. 58 coming to Pilate begged the bodie of Jesus for J John V. 38 he besought Pilate that he might take away the bodie of Jesus Mr. Mark Ch. 15 V. 44 And Pilate marvelled if he were alreadie dead and calling unto him the Centurion he asked him whether he had been any while dead Mark V. 45 And when he knew it of the Centurion J John V. 38 Pilate gave him leave and M Matth.
