of_o his_o experience_n draw_v from_o his_o diligent_a travail_n and_o accurate_a endeavour_n as_o he_o want_v not_o power_n and_o ability_n to_o procure_v and_o use_v all_o mean_n so_o neither_o want_v he_o desire_v and_o diligence_n for_o he_o give_v himself_o whole_o not_o only_o to_o seek_v by_o wisdom_n to_o know_v thing_n but_o to_o search_v out_o by_o observation_n and_o trial_n according_a to_o wisdom_n the_o cause_n property_n and_o effect_n and_o the_o reason_n of_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v and_o be_v do_v under_o heaven_n but_o this_o he_o do_v not_o in_o pride_n and_o curiosity_n but_o in_o modesty_n according_o as_o he_o find_v himself_o gift_v of_o god_n 1_o king_n 4._o 33._o for_o god_n be_v the_o father_n of_o light_n the_o gift_n of_o his_o spirit_n be_v light_n shine_v in_o darkness_n wisdom_n be_v with_o god_n and_o proceed_v out_o from_o the_o throne_n of_o god_n which_o whosoever_o want_v can_v never_o attain_v to_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o he_o because_o his_o worldly_a heart_n be_v full_a of_o darkness_n for_o god_n have_v subdue_v all_o thing_n under_o vanity_n which_o the_o blind_a world_n know_v not_o or_o but_o dream_o note_v which_o make_v flesh_n and_o blood_n so_o proud_a from_o which_o no_o man_n can_v rid_v himself_o strive_v he_o never_o so_o much_o but_o rather_o do_v still_o as_o the_o proud_a curious_a heretic_n do_v increase_n vanity_n error_n and_o folly_n as_o the_o hydropical_a body_n by_o thirst_v and_o strive_v to_o quench_v thirst_n by_o drink_v do_v increase_v the_o discase_v and_o in_o the_o end_n destroy_v itself_o the_o heathen_a keep_v neither_o mean_a nor_o measure_n in_o the_o curious_a and_o ambitious_a search_n of_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n in_o the_o world_n and_o his_o secret_a counsel_n in_o the_o use_n of_o his_o creature_n but_o for_o as_o much_o as_o the_o end_n of_o their_o endless_a labour_n be_v not_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n even_o subjection_n to_o he_o in_o fear_n and_o thankful_a obedience_n but_o their_o own_o vainglory_n praise_n pleasure_n foolishness_n impiety_n they_o find_v not_o that_o which_o they_o seek_v for_o for_o a_o fool_n say_v solomon_n seek_v wisdom_n and_o find_v it_o not_o but_o weary_v himself_o in_o a_o labyrinth_n and_o so_o become_v vain_a in_o their_o worldly_a imagination_n wherefore_o because_o they_o seek_v to_o know_v god_n out_o of_o his_o church_n and_o to_o assume_v the_o glory_n thereof_o to_o themselves_o by_o return_v their_o own_o eye_n and_o the_o eye_n of_o man_n after_o they_o to_o exalt_v and_o magnify_v they_o as_o he_o that_o seek_v praise_n by_o the_o curious_a description_n of_o a_o cunning_a work_n but_o forget_v yea_o despise_v the_o workman_n himself_o and_o because_o they_o think_v and_o seek_v to_o comprehend_v the_o infinite_a majesty_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n in_o the_o creation_n and_o government_n by_o humane_a capacity_n and_o travail_n without_o the_o spirit_n and_o word_n of_o god_n therefore_o be_v they_o blind_v like_o the_o sodomite_n seek_v lot_n door_n grope_v all_o their_o life_n after_o that_o which_o they_o can_v never_o find_v attain_v only_o to_o so_o much_o as_o serve_v to_o quicken_v the_o worm_n of_o their_o dead_a conscience_n to_o make_v they_o inexcusable_a furthermore_o as_o god_n have_v by_o a_o general_a decree_n in_o the_o beginning_n lay_v sore_a travel_n on_o man_n to_o humble_v his_o pride_n thereby_o in_o so_o much_o that_o nothing_o can_v be_v get_v without_o great_a labour_n since_o the_o fall_n so_o neither_o can_v he_o attain_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o wisdom_n without_o diligence_n for_o the_o gift_n be_v indeed_o free_o give_v of_o god_n but_o we_o must_v receive_v it_o by_o the_o appoint_a mean_n therefore_o although_o he_o grant_v the_o request_n of_o solomon_n in_o give_v a_o wise_a and_o understand_a heart_n above_o all_o that_o be_v before_o he_o or_o after_o he_o yet_o he_o apply_v himself_o to_o the_o study_n and_o contemplation_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o to_o find_v out_o the_o secret_n of_o god_n wisdom_n by_o careful_a observation_n and_o experience_n so_o that_o in_o the_o study_n of_o knowledge_n there_o be_v great_a affliction_n both_o of_o body_n and_o mind_n first_o because_o some_o never_o attain_v to_o true_a wisdom_n but_o fall_v into_o vain_a imagination_n and_o manifold_a error_n and_o so_o when_o they_o think_v to_o be_v wise_a they_o become_v fool_n the_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n on_o their_o proud_a presumption_n rom._n 1._o 22._o of_o those_o kind_n of_o study_n these_o word_n of_o solomon_n may_v be_v understand_v this_o sore_a travail_n have_v god_n give_v etc._n etc._n second_o they_o that_o be_v move_v and_o direct_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o the_o right_a end_n and_o so_o attain_v to_o wisdom_n be_v great_o humble_v with_o infinite_a toil_n as_o well_o as_o the_o husbandman_n and_o in_o the_o end_n see_v nothing_o but_o vanity_n even_o matter_n of_o grief_n both_o in_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v know_v and_o in_o the_o knowledge_n itself_o for_o they_o be_v still_o
