we_o shall_v now_o speak_v in_o that_o which_o follow_v as_o the_o general_a praise_n of_o love_n be_v most_o plain_o and_o large_o discourse_v of_o by_o saint_n john_n so_o be_v he_o most_o of_o all_o copious_a to_o show_v how_o love_n and_o charity_n be_v the_o general_a precept_n for_o christian_n be_v the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n and_o how_o they_o secure_v we_o in_o a_o state_n of_o in_o you_o because_o the_o darkness_n be_v past_a and_o the_o true_a light_n shine_v that_o be_v true_a in_o he_o that_o have_v thus_o rid_v we_o of_o strict_a legal_a observance_n 2.8_o and_o from_o the_o darkness_n and_o multitude_n of_o literal_a precept_n and_o have_v enlighten_v we_o with_o so_o much_o supernatural_a wisdom_n as_o to_o see_v this_o one_o performance_n of_o love_n to_o be_v the_o sum_n of_o their_o meaning_n they_o without_o it_o not_o be_v able_a to_o state_n we_o innocent_a for_o he_o that_o say_v he_o be_v in_o the_o light_n and_o hate_v his_o brother_n be_v in_o darkness_n even_o until_o now_o but_o he_o that_o love_v his_o brother_n abide_v in_o the_o light_n 9_o and_o there_o be_v no_o occasion_n of_o stumble_v in_o he_o 10._o which_o last_o word_n point_v plain_o to_o the_o state_v of_o our_o condition_n of_o innocence_n by_o love_n he_o conclude_v all_o christian_a foundation_n and_o commandment_n in_o these_o word_n that_o we_o shall_v believe_v the_o name_n of_o christ_n jesus_n and_o love_v one_o another_o 23._o and_o therefore_o be_v this_o gospel_n single_a light_n hint_v unto_o we_o as_o a_o single_a eye_n which_o enlighten_v the_o that_o must_v season_v all_o we_o do_v this_o be_v that_o rock_n on_o which_o we_o sound_v our_o christian_a duty_n through_o faith_n in_o christ_n they_o shall_v stand_v unmoveable_a against_o the_o storm_n and_o tempest_n of_o the_o world_n whereas_o else_o pprophecy_n miracle_n mighty_a work_n though_o do_v in_o christ_n name_n and_o with_o never_o so_o religious_a pretence_n shall_v not_o make_v he_o own_v we_o without_o its_o be_v their_o ground_n work_v and_o to_o this_o purpose_n he_o say_v if_o you_o keep_v my_o commandment_n you_o shall_v abide_v in_o my_o love_n even_o as_o i_o have_v keep_v my_o father_n commandment_n and_o abide_v in_o his_o love_n and_o then_o he_o add_v this_o be_v my_o commandment_n that_o you_o love_v one_o another_o 12._o as_o i_o have_v love_v you_o lie_v and_o falsehood_n their_o refuge_n but_o it_o be_v there_o declare_v who_o shall_v be_v the_o sure_a foundation_n of_o the_o church_n safety_n namely_o the_o corner_n stone_n or_o the_o seat_n of_o judgement_n he_o that_o believe_v shall_v not_o make_v haste_n that_o be_v 16._o christ_n by_o his_o own_v this_o throne_n of_o kingly_a judgement_n will_v be_v for_o a_o spirit_n of_o one_o contain_v more_o content_a shall_v by_o this_o union_n contain_v all_o we_o shall_v not_o then_o know_v one_o another_o by_o our_o old_a divide_v relation_n of_o consanguinity_n or_o friendship_n whereby_o petty_a union_n be_v make_v destructive_a of_o the_o common_a and_o introductive_a of_o general_a disagreement_n no_o every_o one_o be_v look_v upon_o with_o the_o heighten_a affection_n of_o a_o brother_n by_o mean_n of_o that_o more_o close_a tie_n and_o relation_n to_o be_v derive_v from_o that_o our_o father_n which_o be_v in_o heaven_n have_v any_o one_o be_v so_o heroic_a as_o but_o to_o taste_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v true_o in_o love_n with_o any_o person_n here_o let_v he_o then_o think_v that_o every_o one_o now_o shall_v be_v that_o he_o or_o that_o she_o but_o without_o think_v of_o a_o he_o or_o a_o she_o not_o so_o hazardous_o now_o belove_v as_o to_o rely_v on_o the_o courtesy_n of_o a_o idea_n from_o the_o intent_n observation_n of_o who_o perfection_n in_o our_o conceit_n the_o imperfection_n of_o the_o original_n may_v come_v to_o be_v cloud_v no_o as_o we_o shall_v no_o long_o depend_v on_o the_o help_n of_o deceivable_a notion_n nor_o affection_n or_o passion_n for_o our_o comprehension_n and_o understanding_n so_o shall_v we_o not_o be_v in_o danger_n to_o be_v captivate_v with_o the_o glance_n of_o a_o single_a sense_n and_o that_o from_o a_o outward_a perish_v and_o deceivable_a figure_n our_o understanding_n and_o intuistive_a knowledge_n shall_v now_o make_v way_n for_o our_o will_n it_o shall_v not_o stand_v to_o the_o issue_n of_o two_o contend_a passion_n here_o where_o nothing_o be_v far_a to_o be_v hope_v for_o or_o fear_v all_o such_o composition_n must_v cease_v we_o shall_v not_o in_o this_o place_n love_n at_o the_o hazard_n of_o our_o discretion_n nor_o endanger_v the_o loss_n of_o ourselves_o by_o the_o love_n of_o another_o for_o in_o this_o society_n every_o other_o shall_v be_v true_o know_v to_o be_v a_o other_o self_n even_o so_o much_o thyself_o that_o thou_o shall_v not_o be_v to_o thyself_o but_o in_o that_o self_n for_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o like_a and_o so_o much_o one_o another_o as_o not_o to_o know_v distinction_n or_o separation_n but_o what_o number_n must_v make_v oh_o that_o happy_a practice_n of_o love_n below_o that_o prepare_v thou_o for_o this_o bless_a enjoyment_n of_o love_n above_o oh_o that_o happy_a performance_n of_o obedience_n to_o thy_o former_a father_n in_o the_o flesh_n although_o unto_o death_n that_o have_v now_o redeem_v thou_o from_o death_n and_o fit_v thou_o for_o this_o subjection_n unto_o the_o father_n of_o spirit_n unto_o life_n oh_o happy_a participation_n in_o a_o cross_n that_o make_v thou_o now_o a_o sharer_n with_o thy_o saviour_n in_o his_o crown_n thy_o former_a bread_n of_o affliction_n and_o tear_n of_o sorrow_n shall_v be_v by_o thy_o bless_a saviour_n here_o turn_v into_o wine_n of_o comfort_n and_o food_n of_o life_n not_o to_o be_v now_o taste_v in_o a_o sacramental_a sip_n or_o break_a piece_n and_o then_o only_o in_o a_o topic_a communion_n but_o in_o this_o
