remembrance_n of_o his_o covenant_n make_v with_o you_o and_o mercy_n bestow_v on_o you_o nor_o by_o the_o fear_n of_o his_o judgement_n threaten_v nor_o by_o the_o feel_n of_o they_o inflict_v no_o return_v nor_o relent_v not_o of_o his_o own_o people_n to_o their_o god_n sure_a you_o must_v be_v yet_o more_o punish_v you_o only_o have_v i_o know_v of_o all_o the_o family_n of_o the_o earth_n will_v separate_v and_o hide_v the_o face_n of_o god_n from_o they_o their_o daily_a inevitable_a frailty_n do_v not_o this_o but_o either_o a_o course_n of_o careless_a walk_n and_o many_o little_a unlawful_a liberty_n take_v to_o themselves_o that_o will_v rise_v and_o gather_v as_o a_o cloud_n and_o hide_v the_o face_n of_o god_n or_o some_o one_o gross_a sin_n especial_o if_o often_o reiterated_a will_v prove_v as_o a_o firm_a stone_n wall_n or_o rather_o as_o a_o brazen_a wall_n build_v up_o by_o their_o own_o hand_n betwixt_o they_o and_o heaven_n and_o will_v not_o be_v so_o easy_o dissolve_v or_o break_v down_o and_o yet_o till_o that_o be_v the_o light_n of_o his_o countenance_n who_o be_v the_o life_n of_o the_o soul_n will_v be_v eclipse_v and_o withhold_v from_o it_o and_o this_o consider_v beside_o that_o law_n of_o love_n that_o will_v forbid_v so_o foul_a ingratitude_n yet_o i_o say_v this_o consider_v even_o our_o own_o interest_n will_v make_v we_o wary_a to_o sin_n though_o we_o be_v sure_a not_o to_o be_v yet_o altogether_o separate_v from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n by_o it_o yet_o if_o thou_o that_o have_v any_o persuasion_n of_o that_o love_n dare_v thou_o venture_v upon_o any_o know_a sin_n thou_o be_v not_o hazardless_a and_o free_a from_o all_o damage_n by_o it_o if_o thou_o have_v need_v of_o that_o argument_n to_o restrain_v thou_o then_o before_o thou_o run_v upon_o it_o sit_v down_o and_o reckon_v the_o expense_n see_v what_o it_o will_v cost_v thou_o if_o thou_o do_v commit_v it_o thou_o know_v that_o once_o it_o cost_v the_o a_o long_a time_n possible_o most_o of_o thy_o time_n near_o all_o thy_o day_n it_o may_v darken_v much_o that_o love_n of_o god_n to_o thou_o which_o if_o thou_o do_v but_o esteem_v of_o think_v on_o it_o it_o change_v not_o in_o he_o but_o a_o sad_a change_n will_v sin_n bring_v on_o thou_o as_o to_o thy_o sight_n and_o apprehension_n of_o it_o many_o a_o sweet_a hour_n of_o bless_a communion_n with_o thy_o god_n shall_v thou_o miss_v and_o either_o be_v dead_a and_o stupid_a in_o that_o want_n and_o mourn_v after_o he_o and_o yet_o find_v thyself_o and_o sigh_n and_o tear_n hold_v out_o shall_v only_o be_v approve_v in_o the_o great_a day_n who_o have_v constant_o endeavour_v in_o their_o measure_n to_o speak_v the_o best_a and_o fit_a they_o can_v for_o their_o master_n advantage_n way_n to_o it_o and_o the_o truth_n or_o light_n that_o guide_v in_o that_o way_n yet_o christian_n so_o call_v shall_v esteem_v and_o look_v after_o he_o as_o little_a as_o if_o he_o be_v whole_o needless_a what_o mean_v thou_o o_o besotted_a sinner_n be_v it_o so_o light_a a_o thing_n to_o die_v in_o thy_o sin_n and_o eternal_o for_o they_o that_o thou_o will_v not_o so_o much_o as_o open_v and_o admit_v the_o light_n of_o salvation_n what_o shall_v thou_o pretend_v in_o that_o terrible_a day_n though_o all_o other_o kind_n of_o people_n shall_v offer_v some_o excuse_n thou_o who_o report_n of_o his_o worth_n that_o shall_v then_o serve_v the_o turn_n the_o intellective_a knowledge_n of_o christ_n the_o distinct_a understanding_n yea_o the_o orthodox_n preach_v of_o his_o gospel_n the_o maintain_n of_o his_o public_a cause_n and_o suffer_v for_o it_o shall_v not_o then_o be_v find_v sufficient_a only_o that_o peculiar_a apprehension_n of_o christ_n those_o constant_a time_n very_o uncomfortable_a by_o the_o lose_v of_o these_o outward_a thing_n and_o yet_o the_o most_o part_n of_o man_n pass_v their_o whole_a life-time_n without_o one_o serious_a thought_n of_o the_o excellency_n and_o importance_n of_o their_o soul_n who_o life_n and_o happiness_n be_v of_o a_o high_a nature_n and_o neither_o consist_v in_o nor_o depend_v upon_o any_o thing_n here_o below_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o while_o they_o use_v the_o help_n of_o this_o present_a life_n and_o the_o defence_n of_o it_o when_o it_o be_v in_o danger_n and_o use_v they_o with_o so_o much_o diligence_n and_o attention_n the_o mean_n of_o that_o better_a life_n of_o their_o better_a part_n their_o soul_n they_o either_o use_v not_o at_o all_o or_o so_o slight_o and_o cold_o that_o they_o never_o gross_a ignorance_n of_o god_n another_o in_o profane_a and_o licentious_a live_n and_o the_o great_a part_n in_o a_o formal_a and_o lifeless_a profession_n of_o religion_n without_o the_o power_n of_o it_o and_o yet_o where_o be_v they_o that_o lie_v it_o to_o heart_n and_o bestir_v themselves_o to_o rescue_v their_o soul_n from_o destruction_n certain_o whatsoever_o man_n profess_v it_o be_v unbelief_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o impenitence_n man_n be_v not_o convince_v of_o the_o purity_n of_o god_n nature_n nor_o sensible_a of_o the_o impurity_n of_o their_o own_o therefore_o they_o mind_n remain_v carnal_a ardent_a in_o love_n to_o the_o world_n and_o cold_a in_o love_n to_o god_n lover_n of_o pleasure_n more_o than_o of_o god_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v you_o be_v his_o enemy_n for_o with_o he_o there_o be_v no_o neutrality_n that_o which_o they_o say_v tax_v it_o as_o a_o weakness_n in_o the_o sex_n aut_fw-la amat_fw-la aut_fw-la odit_fw-la nihil_fw-la est_fw-la tertium_fw-la be_v in_o this_o case_n necessary_o true_a of_o all_o and_o this_o be_v god_n peculiar_a that_o he_o can_v judge_v infallible_o of_o the_o inside_n those_o shadow_n of_o friendship_n man_n use_v one_o with_o another_o will_v not_o pass_v with_o he_o deceive_v he_o can_v be_v but_o man_n may_v easy_o and_o alas_o too_o many_o do_v deceive_v themselves_o in_o this_o matter_n to_o their_o own_o ruin_n we_o may_v learn_v hence_o how_o deep_a sin_n go_v in_o our_o nature_n and_o consequent_o that_o the_o cure_n and_o remedy_n of_o it_o must_v go_v as_o deep_o that_o all_o the_o you_o can_v for_o the_o least_o of_o they_o deserve_v it_o but_o withal_o let_v the_o consideration_n of_o they_o lead_v you_o into_o thought_n of_o this_o seed_n of_o rebellion_n the_o wickedness_n of_o our_o nature_n that_o take_v life_n with_o we_o in_o the_o womb_n and_o spring_n and_o grow_v up_o with_o we_o and_o this_o will_v humble_v we_o exceed_o and_o raise_v our_o godly_a sorrow_n to_o a_o high_a tide_n we_o find_v david_n take_v this_o course_n psal._n 51._o 5._o where_o he_o be_v lament_v his_o particular_a sin_n of_o adultery_n and_o murder_n it_o lead_v he_o to_o the_o
