love_n which_o the_o soul_n in_o heaven_n bear_v to_o their_o neighbour_n for_o as_o all_o the_o desire_n and_o joy_n of_o the_o saint_n consist_v in_o their_o see_v god_n who_o be_v their_o true_a love_n full_a of_o honour_n and_o glory_n from_o hence_o they_o grow_v to_o love_v with_o a_o most_o fervent_a love_n and_o to_o desire_v with_o a_o excess_n of_o appetite_n that_o all_o the_o saint_n may_v be_v as_o full_a of_o glory_n and_o beauty_n as_o they_o alsoe_o be_v and_o they_o joy_v in_o this_o to_o a_o strange_a proportion_n because_o he_o be_v honour_v and_o glorify_v in_o they_o who_o honour_n and_o glory_n they_o only_o seek_v and_o in_o regard_n that_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o they_o love_v the_o saint_n from_o hence_o it_o grow_v that_o they_o joy_v more_o and_o do_v more_o desire_v the_o glory_n and_o beauty_n of_o the_o great_a saint_n then_o of_o their_o very_a self_n because_o they_o see_v that_o our_o bless_a lord_n be_v more_o glorify_v in_o those_o other_o then_o in_o they_o and_o by_o this_o time_n you_o may_v perceive_v how_o fart_n this_o holy_a company_n be_v from_o self-love_n &_o from_o envy_n which_o spring_v from_o that_o root_n but_o you_o will_v tell_v i_o perhaps_o that_o it_o follow_v from_o hence_o that_o they_o
glorify_v our_o most_o bless_a lord_n and_o in_o this_o manner_n if_o you_o will_v you_o may_v incline_v your_o hart_n to_o the_o commaundment_n with_o respect_n to_o the_o retribution_n as_o the_o indeed_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n 5._o gal._n 5._o which_o grow_v from_o this_o charity_n when_o our_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o communicate_v himself_o more_o familiar_o to_o a_o soul_n when_o his_o majesty_n bestow_v this_o favour_n let_v we_o bless_v he_o for_o it_o and_o when_o he_o do_v not_o let_v we_o yet_o persevere_v in_o that_o other_o exercise_v of_o ever_o and_o adore_v and_o hereby_o you_o will_v also_o perceive_v how_o short_a he_o fall_v of_o true_a love_n who_o grieve_v to_o see_v his_o neighbour_n grow_v up_o apace_o in_o devotion_n and_o virtue_n consider_v that_o himself_o be_v not_o so_o grow_v up_o for_o though_o it_o be_v true_a that_o the_o true_a lover_n of_o our_o lord_n will_v not_o fail_v to_o carry_v a_o knife_n about_o he_o which_o way_n of_o spirit_n as_o before_o now_o that_o you_o be_v subject_a to_o a_o unlike_a disposition_n of_o body_n and_o many_o have_v ignorant_o afflict_v themselves_o for_o not_o have_v be_v able_a to_o weigh_v what_o their_o strength_n and_o state_n will_v permit_v it_o be_v clear_a that_o with_o this_o condition_n of_o body_n wherein_o you_o be_v you_o must_v not_o think_v of_o keep_v the_o same_o method_n which_o you_o hold_v before_o nor_o do_v our_o lord_n ask_v any_o such_o thing_n at_o your_o hand_n since_o his_o will_n be_v very_o wise_a and_o temper_v alsoe_o with_o great_a mercy_n and_o demand_v nothing_o of_o we_o but_o that_o for_o which_o he_o give_v we_o mean_n and_o not_o only_o he_o will_v not_o reap_v where_o he_o do_v not_o sow_v but_o even_o when_o he_o sow_n of_o so_o high_a a_o lord_n by_o who_o you_o shall_v be_v so_o much_o the_o better_o accept_v as_o you_o shall_v come_v to_o he_o with_o more_o affliction_n yet_o so_o as_o that_o our_o lord_n be_v not_o desirous_a of_o our_o pain_n but_o only_o of_o our_o love_n but_o yet_o it_o be_v still_o true_a withal_o that_o the_o truth_n of_o love_n be_v hardly_o know_v but_o in_o somewhat_o which_o as_o for_o other_o with_o what_o face_n can_v they_o ask_v new_a light_n since_o it_o may_v be_v answer_v they_o thus_o why_o desire_v thou_o to_o know_v further_o what_o my_o will_n and_o pleasure_n provide_v otherwise_o the_o woman_n of_o samaria_n ask_v where_o she_o be_v to_o pray_v 4._o john_n 4._o and_o our_o lord_n answer_v she_o that_o it_o be_v every_o where_n to_o be_v do_v and_o that_o as_o to_o be_v look_v towards_o he_o for_o he_o die_v for_o this_o that_o we_o by_o look_v up_o to_o he_o may_v strive_v to_o die_v to_o our_o sin_n let_v therefore_o our_o old_a man_n die_v in_o we_o since_o our_o new_a man_n who_o be_v christ_n our_o saviour_n die_v for_o we_o upon_o the_o cross_n let_v we_o approach_v towards_o his_o wound_n for_o by_o he_o we_o shall_v be_v cure_v of_o we_o for_o you_o be_v a_o favour_n of_o he_o and_o no_o merit_n of_o you_o nor_o will_v he_o leave_v the_o care_n and_o government_n of_o you_o in_o your_o own_o hand_n but_o he_o for_o his_o glory_n by_o mean_n of_o any_o temptation_n or_o spiritual_a discomfort_n may_v come_v to_o you_o nor_o yet_o if_o any_o darkness_n or_o anguish_n which_o may_v be_v convey_v into_o your_o soul_n shall_v pretend_v to_o dismay_v you_o or_o persuade_v you_o to_o disconfidence_n in_o our_o lord_n who_o love_v you_o but_o tell_v that_o spirit_n that_o if_o it_o have_v wish_v you_o to_o disconfide_v in_o yourself_o it_o shall_v have_v have_v all_o reason_n because_o you_o be_v nothing_o but_o mere_a weakness_n but_o in_o say_v that_o you_o must_v not_o hope_v for_o safety_n at_o his_o hand_n who_o be_v the_o common_a salvation_n of_o all_o the_o world_n tell_v he_o he_o lie_v and_o therein_o you_o shall_v but_o say_v a_o truth_n christ_n our_o lord_n love_v you_o more_o than_o you_o can_v think_v only_o it_o be_v fit_a sometime_o that_o he_o hide_v it_o from_o you_o for_o perhaps_o if_o you_o know_v it_o you_o may_v fall_v into_o a_o great_a occasion_n and_o danger_n of_o vanity_n than_o the_o suspicion_n you_o have_v of_o your_o not_o be_v belove_v by_o he_o may_v be_v of_o your_o despair_n for_o without_o doubt_n they_o be_v few_o who_o can_v enjoy_v prosperity_n without_o any_o mixture_n of_o vanity_n or_o inordinate_a delight_n in_o the_o sweet_a meat_n which_o be_v give_v they_o then_o there_o be_v who_o can_v bear_v the_o bitterness_n of_o tribulation_n without_o despair_n conceive_v you_o therefore_o that_o our_o lord_n keep_v you_o safe_a in_o the_o haven_n of_o security_n under_o the_o sharp_a rock_n of_o tribulation_n to_o the_o end_n you_o may_v not_o putrify_v with_o too_o much_o sweetness_n but_o be_v preserve_v by_o the_o bitterness_n of_o myrrh_n and_o at_o this_o you_o be_v not_o to_o be_v trouble_v for_o of_o yourself_o you_o shall_v make_v election_n of_o that_o which_o will_v be_v good_a for_o you_o in_o eternity_n rather_o than_o of_o that_o which_o may_v afford_v you_o some_o little_a temporal_a gust_n yea_o and_o even_o in_o spiritual_a consolation_n we_o reap_v not_o sometime_o so_o much_o profitt_a as_o we_o do_v delight_n nor_o will_v you_o be_v demand_v at_o the_o last_o day_n what_o comfort_v you_o shall_v have_v will_v be_v glad_a to_o enjoy_v for_o if_o to_o be_v regale_v by_o almighty_a god_n be_v to_o do_v true_a service_n to_o his_o divine_a majesty_n he_o will_v not_o have_v so_o few_o servant_n since_o abstain_v from_o comfort_v his_o afflict_a and_o deject_a servant_n when_o it_o be_v best_o for_o they_o and_o as_o far_o also_o he_o be_v from_o like_v they_o who_o take_v of_o their_o eye_n from_o his_o torment_a cross_n send_v they_o in_o search_n after_o comfort_n as_o conceive_v that_o the_o more_o they_o have_v thereof_o the_o more_o belove_a and_o more_o happy_a they_o be_v and_o they_o never_o consider_v how_o poor_a they_o shall_v be_v find_v at_o that_o day_n when_o god_n will_v sift_v jerusalem_n with_o the_o light_n of_o lamp_n &_o when_o he_o will_v call_v we_o to_o account_v cause_v bitterness_n but_o they_o let_v the_o love_n of_o god_n a_o lone_a persuade_v you_o to_o endure_v they_o till_o he_o provide_v otherwise_o in_o who_o you_o must_v have_v so_o much_o strength_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o may_v make_v you_o abound_v in_o charity_n and_o peace_n and_o joy_n tread_v your_o passion_n under_o foot_n and_o have_v your_o soul_n even_o all_o enbalm_v with_o grace_n yet_o when_o you_o shall_v be_v in_o joy_n do_v not_o enjoy_v it_o for_o yourself_o but_o employ_v it_o with_o great_a strength_n upon_o he_o who_o give_v it_o fetch_v also_o reason_n from_o thence_o why_o it_o shall_v make_v your_o love_n increase_v i_o beseech_v that_o lord_n who_o remember_v you_o when_o you_o forget_v he_o to_o give_v strength_n unto_o your_o inward_a man_n that_o he_o can_v stoop_v to_o such_o a_o profound_a business_n as_o you_o it_o be_v the_o property_n of_o ill_a nature_a and_o ill_a manner_a servant_n to_o value_n their_o master_n at_o a_o less_o rate_n for_o vouchsafe_v to_o descend_v and_o become_v familiar_a with_o they_o then_o if_o they_o have_v live_v which_o they_o like_v lord_n but_o they_o who_o live_v in_o true_a light_n esteem_v that_o lord_n so_o much_o the_o more_o as_o he_o do_v more_o vouchsafe_v to_o diminish_v himself_o the_o true_a love_n of_o christ_n our_o lord_n carry_v this_o badge_n with_o it_o in_o token_n that_o it_o be_v indeed_o of_o he_o that_o as_o it_o apprehend_v and_o high_o esteem_v the_o goodness_n of_o god_n so_o it_o alsoe_o apprehend_v and_o profound_o disesteeme_v the_o wickedness_n of_o man_n therefore_o love_n adore_v and_o serve_v our_o lord_n with_o joy_n but_o yet_o rejoice_v with_o tremble_a not_o a_o tremble_a as_o of_o a_o slave_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o torment_n but_o as_o of_o a_o true_a &_o tender_a heart_a child_n who_o high_o fear_v to_o give_v any_o disgust_n to_o her_o father_n how_o little_a it_o soever_o may_v be_v of_o yourself_o you_o can_v do_v none_o of_o these_o
