that_o be_v from_o one_o glorious_a degree_n to_o another_o but_o how_o be_v this_o do_v it_o be_v do_v say_v he_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v it_o be_v impossible_a for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v turn_v into_o the_o glorious_a image_n of_o god_n and_o not_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n a_o man_n may_v as_o well_o say_v i_o will_v make_v a_o clod_n of_o earth_n a_o shine_a star_n as_o to_o say_v he_o can_v make_v the_o carnal_a and_o dead_a heart_n of_o man_n to_o be_v like_o the_o image_n of_o god_n it_o must_v be_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n himself_o that_o must_v do_v it_o it_o be_v a_o work_n above_o nature_n it_o be_v therefore_o do_v by_o the_o spirit_n which_o do_v so_o enlighten_v the_o understanding_n and_o so_o bow_v the_o will_n that_o whereas_o before_o there_o be_v in_o man_n such_o a_o strong_a appetite_n such_o a_o strong_a propensity_n to_o ill_a such_o a_o strong_a inclination_n that_o will_v over-weigh_a all_o the_o reason_n that_o can_v be_v bring_v to_o the_o contrary_a when_o the_o spirit_n have_v wrought_v this_o work_n there_o be_v such_o a_o contrary_a inclination_n such_o a_o propenseness_n to_o god_n holiness_n he_o have_v appoint_v it_o he_o will_v it_o and_o his_o will_n be_v sufficient_a to_o enforce_v it_o again_o consider_v when_o we_o be_v ingraft_v into_o christ_n 3._o it_o it_o not_o and_o to_o purchase_v to_o himself_o a_o holy_a generation_n and_o royal_a priest_n hood_n now_o whatsoever_o the_o lord_n end_n be_v he_o never_o fail_v of_o 5._o again_o you_o must_v consider_v that_o to_o whosoever_o christ_n be_v a_o priest_n he_o be_v also_o to_o they_o a_o prophet_n and_o a_o king_n he_o be_v anoint_v to_o all_o these_o office_n and_o therefore_o if_o you_o will_v be_v save_v by_o he_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o his_o priesthood_n you_o must_v take_v he_o as_o a_o prophet_n that_o be_v you_o must_v take_v his_o counsel_n in_o all_o thing_n and_o not_o only_o so_o but_o he_o must_v also_o be_v your_o king_n you_o must_v not_o only_o learn_v his_o way_n but_o you_o must_v also_o be_v perfect_o subject_a and_o obedient_a to_o he_o to_o walk_v therein_o indeed_o as_o a_o priest_n he_o reconcile_v god_n unto_o we_o but_o not_o we_o to_o god_n except_o he_o come_v with_o his_o other_o two_o office_n for_o man_n stand_v out_o and_o will_v not_o know_v the_o way_n and_o therefore_o as_o a_o prophet_n he_o be_v to_o guide_v our_o foot_n into_o the_o way_n of_o peace_n and_o that_o be_v not_o all_o therefore_o because_o our_o heart_n be_v stubborn_a and_o will_v not_o come_v in_o he_o exercise_v his_o kingly_a office_n and_o bring_v into_o subjection_n every_o thought_n to_o the_o obedience_n of_o his_o will_n again_o look_v to_o all_o the_o mean_n as_o first_o to_o faith_n the_o same_o faith_n that_o justify_v do_v also_o purify_v the_o heart_n have_v their_o heart_n purify_v by_o faith_n act._n 15._o and_o as_o many_o as_o be_v sanctify_v by_o faith_n that_o be_v in_o i_o act._n 26.28_o and_o likewise_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n not_o only_o cover_v but_o also_o heal_v hebr._n 9.14_o how_o much_o more_o shall_v the_o blood_n of_o christ_n who_o through_o his_o eternal_a spirit_n offer_v himself_o to_o purge_v your_o conscience_n from_o dead_a work_n etc._n etc._n it_o have_v not_o only_a virtue_n to_o take_v away_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n but_o it_o be_v effectual_a also_o to_o purge_v the_o conscience_n from_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n again_o the_o gospel_n we_o preach_v do_v not_o only_o offer_v christ_n but_o likewise_o way_n by_o take_v heed_n thereto_o according_a to_o thy_o word_n the_o spirit_n as_o it_o be_v a_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n so_o be_v it_o of_o sanctification_n make_v clean_o the_o room_n where_o it_o contain_v three_o part_n all_o which_o be_v seal_v by_o this_o sacrament_n first_o he_o promise_v to_o wash_v they_o from_o their_o filthiness_n that_o be_v from_o the_o guilt_n of_o their_o sin_n which_o be_v the_o first_o part_n second_o a_o new_a heart_n will_v i_o give_v you_o and_o a_o new_a spirit_n i_o will_v put_v into_o you_o that_o be_v i_o will_v make_v you_o new_a creature_n and_o he_o can_v deny_v it_o therefore_o beg_v it_o and_o you_o can_v miss_v of_o it_o this_o be_v a_o very_a comfortable_a doctrine_n if_o it_o be_v well_o consider_v for_o what_o be_v that_o that_o keep_v a_o man_n from_o come_v to_o christ_n but_o his_o discouragement_n he_o think_v it_o so_o hard_a a_o thing_n to_o be_v a_o new_a creature_n that_o he_o can_v attain_v it_o that_o he_o can_v leave_v such_o a_o course_n of_o life_n and_o therefore_o he_o stand_v off_o and_o though_o he_o will_v come_v in_o yet_o he_o will_v not_o as_o yet_o because_o it_o be_v a_o bondage_n intolerable_a but_o you_o do_v not_o consider_v what_o it_o be_v to_o have_v a_o new_a nature_n if_o it_o be_v to_o have_v a_o new_a life_n and_o a_o old_a heart_n it_o be_v otherwise_o but_o the_o lord_n will_v give_v a_o new_a heart_n and_o if_o he_o will_v not_o deny_v you_o but_o make_v you_o new_a creature_n you_o may_v be_v encourage_v to_o go_v to_o he_o if_o there_o be_v any_o rebellion_n in_o your_o heart_n any_o untowardness_n in_o your_o nature_n if_o you_o go_v to_o he_o for_o the_o removal_n of_o it_o it_o be_v
this_o be_v not_o a_o light_a notion_n but_o of_o great_a moment_n for_o it_o will_v make_v thou_o love_v the_o lord_n jesus_n saint_n paul_n put_v this_o among_o the_o great_a mercy_n he_o have_v be_v merciful_a to_o i_o with_o faith_n and_o love_n 1._o that_o amaze_v he_o that_o he_o can_v never_o be_v thankful_a enough_o for_o it_o that_o be_v he_o have_v wrought_v in_o i_o faith_n and_o love_n therefore_o give_v he_o the_o praise_n it_o be_v god_n that_o do_v it_o we_o be_v but_o the_o instrument_n we_o praise_v not_o the_o trumpet_n but_o the_o trumpeter_n we_o praise_v not_o the_o pencil_n but_o the_o painter_n it_o be_v god_n that_o do_v the_o work_n give_v he_o therefore_o the_o whole_a praise_n of_o it_o this_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o much_o use_n to_o you_o for_o when_o there_o be_v a_o minister_n of_o god_n that_o have_v be_v a_o instrument_n of_o bring_v you_o to_o heaven_n you_o will_v love_v this_o man_n prize_v he_o and_o magnify_v he_o in_o your_o thought_n love_v he_o so_o much_o the_o more_o for_o of_o all_o grace_n nothing_o be_v like_o that_o to_o work_v grace_n in_o your_o heart_n again_o if_o you_o will_v say_v what_o use_n be_v there_o of_o it_o that_o it_o be_v not_o the_o minister_n but_o god_n that_o do_v it_o word_n then_o do_v not_o expect_v from_o we_o that_o we_o shall_v come_v with_o excellency_n of_o wisdom_n or_o of_o word_n that_o we_o shall_v come_v with_o wit_n and_o eloquence_n and_o learning_n will_v this_o make_v a_o new_a creature_n no_o it_o will_v not_o do_v it_o for_o it_o be_v god_n that_o make_v man_n new_a creature_n and_o if_o it_o be_v so_o he_o will_v do_v it_o by_o his_o own_o instrument_n that_o be_v by_o his_o own_o word_n thus_o paul_n reason_n 1_o cor._n 2._o we_o preach_v the_o gospel_n not_o with_o excellency_n of_o word_n for_o then_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n will_v be_v of_o no_o effect_n that_o be_v no_o man_n will_v be_v a_o new_a creature_n and_o christ_n will_v die_v in_o vain_a therefore_o we_o preach_v the_o gospel_n in_o the_o evidence_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o power_n these_o go_v together_o evidence_n of_o spirit_n and_o power_n what_o then_o be_v this_o preach_n in_o evidence_n of_o the_o spirit_n certain_o it_o be_v never_o evident_a that_o the_o spirit_n speak_v but_o when_o you_o know_v the_o word_n speak_v therefore_o when_o any_o man_n know_v that_o this_o be_v the_o word_n we_o preach_v there_o be_v a_o evidence_n it_o be_v a_o speech_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o when_o the_o spiriâ—_n speak_v to_o the_o heart_n there_o be_v power_n and_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o christ_n do_v so_o much_o good_a he_o teach_v with_o authority_n and_o not_o as_o the_o scribe_n what_o be_v that_o to_o come_v with_o authority_n as_o when_o a_o constable_n come_v in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o king_n he_o show_v his_o evidence_n he_o have_v that_o which_o make_v evident_a to_o he_o with_o who_o he_o have_v to_o deal_v that_o he_o come_v from_o the_o king_n we_o preach_v with_o authority_n then_o only_o when_o we_o speak_v from_o god_n to_o the_o conscience_n of_o man_n this_o consist_v not_o in_o excellency_n of_o word_n but_o so_o much_o as_o there_o be_v of_o god_n so_o much_o authority_n therefore_o come_v not_o with_o affectation_n of_o excellency_n of_o word_n and_o wisdom_n if_o we_o have_v all_o the_o wit_n in_o the_o world_n to_o set_v word_n of_o god_n in_o it_o it_o be_v better_a than_o that_o in_o which_o it_o be_v set_v as_o the_o diamond_n be_v better_a than_o the_o gold_n in_o which_o it_o be_v set_v if_o you_o be_v to_o choose_v a_o minister_n choose_v not_o such_o a_o one_o desire_v it_o not_o expect_v it_o not_o the_o foolishness_n of_o preach_v be_v wise_a than_o man_n it_o will_v do_v more_o than_o all_o the_o wisdom_n of_o man_n though_o it_o be_v but_o foolishness_n to_o some_o we_o speak_v wisdom_n to_o they_o that_o be_v perfect_a say_v paul_n they_o that_o be_v perfect_a will_v recount_v it_o wisdom_n it_o be_v foolishness_n to_o they_o that_o be_v child_n and_o unable_a to_o discern_v again_o though_o it_o be_v but_o foolishness_n on_o the_o outside_n yet_o there_o be_v treasure_n within_o and_o god_n have_v hide_v these_o treasure_n under_o base_a outside_n that_o man_n may_v stumble_v at_o they_o as_o man_n that_o hide_v treasure_n under_o straw_n the_o foolishness_n of_o preach_v save_v the_o soul_n of_o man_n therefore_o see_v it_o be_v god_n that_o do_v it_o he_o will_v use_v his_o own_o instrument_n god_n work_v by_o it_o can_v word_n can_v all_o moral_a wit_n make_v a_o new_a creature_n no_o it_o be_v god_n then_o why_o do_v we_o make_v a_o question_n the_o more_o the_o word_n be_v discover_v and_o bring_v home_o the_o better_a it_o be_v because_o indeed_o when_o we_o preach_v any_o thing_n else_o you_o do_v but_o see_v a_o creature_n and_o you_o think_v you_o have_v to_o do_v with_o a_o creature_n for_o you_o can_v answer_v wit_n with_o wit_n and_o learning_n with_o learning_n and_o when_o you_o see_v you_o have_v to_o do_v with_o man_n though_o never_o so_o excellent_a yet_o they_o be_v man_n but_o when_o christ_n speak_v to_o the_o conscience_n now_o the_o heart_n be_v bring_v down_o when_o it_o see_v it_o have_v to_o do_v with_o god_n that_o only_o have_v to_o do_v with_o the_o conscience_n of_o man_n therefore_o expect_v not_o the_o contrary_a and_o remember_v that_o god_n be_v the_o doer_n of_o it_o it_o be_v he_o that_o write_v the_o epistle_n though_o we_o be_v the_o minister_n it_o be_v therefore_o not_o without_o use_n that_o we_o preach_v this_o doctrine_n to_o you_o word_n and_o to_o all_o that_o i_o have_v say_v add_v this_o one_o more_o therefore_o if_o you_o find_v there_o have_v not_o be_v a_o mighty_a work_n of_o god_n repeat_v and_o recall_v the_o word_n to_o memory_n but_o there_o be_v another_o save_a hearing_n that_o be_v when_o be_v it_o ingraft_v and_o when_o it_o be_v ingraft_v even_o then_o when_o it_o make_v you_o new_a creature_n as_o a_o graft_n be_v then_o graft_v when_o it_o change_v all_o the_o stock_n therefore_o consider_v whether_o you_o do_v so_o hear_v or_o no_o that_o it_o have_v breed_v such_o a_o change_n in_o you_o and_o know_v otherwise_o you_o have_v hear_v it_o in_o vain_a for_o what_o do_v we_o do_v when_o we_o preach_v the_o word_n we_o do_v as_o gehezi_n do_v he_o come_v run_v with_o elisha_n staff_n to_o raise_v the_o child_n but_o he_o can_v not_o do_v it_o for_o though_o he_o have_v elisha_n staff_n he_o have_v not_o elisha_n spirit_n so_o we_o come_v with_o the_o staff_n but_o not_o with_o the_o spirit_n therefore_o thou_o be_v not_o raise_v to_o life_n for_o there_o be_v the_o staff_n without_o the_o spirit_n therefore_o do_v not_o think_v thou_o have_v hear_v to_o any_o purpose_n if_o the_o stock_n be_v not_o turn_v if_o thou_o find_v not_o the_o spirit_n there_o what_o do_v we_o when_o we_o dress_v up_o a_o sermon_n never_o so_o well_o it_o be_v spiritual_a riches_n that_o will_v procure_v thing_n needful_a for_o our_o soul_n and_o if_o we_o want_v they_o we_o shall_v want_v that_o that_o be_v profitable_a for_o we_o we_o shall_v want_v that_o that_o be_v necessary_a for_o our_o salvation_n for_o riches_n do_v but_o set_v man_n a_o work_n to_o do_v we_o service_n riches_n can_v do_v no_o more_o than_o man_n can_v do_v but_o these_o spiritual_a riches_n set_v god_n a_o work_n to_o do_v we_o good_a they_o be_v beyond_o the_o other_o as_o much_o as_o the_o help_n of_o god_n go_v beyond_o the_o help_n of_o man_n when_o you_o need_v any_o thing_n if_o you_o be_v rich_a in_o christ_n if_o you_o be_v rich_a in_o grace_n if_o you_o be_v rich_a in_o good_a work_n it_o be_v but_o put_v up_o your_o request_n and_o you_o shall_v have_v up_o may_v serve_v their_o turn_n they_o may_v have_v those_o ready_a for_o their_o use_n when_o other_o man_n want_v they_o be_v not_o these_o riches_n for_o the_o same_o purpose_n will_v there_o not_o come_v a_o day_n of_o need_n will_v there_o not_o come_v a_o time_n of_o spend_v when_o there_o will_v be_v no_o leisure_n to_o gather_v at_o the_o day_n of_o death_n then_o all_o the_o seed_n sow_v to_o the_o spirit_n all_o the_o good_a work_n that_o we_o have_v lay_v up_o will_v be_v as_o a_o treasure_n and_o at_o that_o time_n will_v do_v we_o good_a and_o that_o be_v the_o difference_n
