sufficient_a warrant_n for_o the_o three_o person_n be_v undivided_a in_o nature_n must_v be_v also_o undivided_a in_o worship_n and_o one_o be_v worship_v all_o must_v be_v worship_v second_o we_o be_v set_v down_o the_o three_o sin_n of_o these_o deceiver_n which_o be_v the_o sin_n of_o intemperance_n stand_v in_o the_o immoderate_a use_n of_o meat_n and_o drink_v apparel_n etc._n etc._n touch_v this_o sin_n two_o thing_n be_v propound_v first_o the_o proper_a cause_n of_o it_o that_o be_v natural_a knowledge_n in_o these_o word_n whatsoever_o they_o know_v natural_o second_o the_o sin_n itself_o or_o the_o property_n of_o it_o in_o those_o thing_n they_o corrupt_v themselves_o the_o cause_n be_v because_o they_o be_v guide_v with_o a_o natural_a knowledge_n like_o the_o bruit_n beast_n which_o be_v without_o reason_n there_o be_v three_o kind_n of_o knowledge_n incident_a unto_o the_o creature_n first_o natural_a knowledge_n arise_v from_o the_o instinct_n of_o nature_n common_a to_o man_n and_o beast_n and_o consist_v in_o the_o sense_n of_o sight_n taste_n touch_v etc._n etc._n by_o the_o benefit_n whereof_o the_o beast_n itself_o can_v discern_v what_o be_v food_n fit_a for_o itself_o and_o what_o be_v not_o what_o be_v profitable_a and_o what_o be_v hurtful_a and_o unprofitable_a for_o it_o unto_o which_o be_v join_v a_o natural_a appetite_n by_o the_o benefit_n of_o which_o the_o creature_n can_v choose_v or_o refuse_v his_o food_n and_o meat_n in_o season_n the_o second_o be_v reasonable_a knowledge_n proper_a to_o man_n and_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o light_n of_o understanding_n whereby_o he_o reach_v far_o high_o and_o discern_v meat_n drink_n apparel_n and_o rest_n to_o be_v god_n good_a gift_n and_o know_v the_o civil_a use_n of_o they_o with_o the_o which_o be_v join_v election_n of_o will_n whereby_o he_o can_v choose_v or_o refuse_v the_o civil_a or_o uncivil_a honest_a or_o dishonest_a use_n of_o they_o this_o knowledge_n be_v in_o all_o man_n for_o even_o the_o gentile_n themselves_o do_v by_o nature_n the_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o law_n rom._n 2.14_o that_o be_v civil_o and_o outward_o thus_o many_o of_o the_o heathen_a have_v excel_v in_o civil_a carriage_n and_o practice_v of_o justice_n temperance_n and_o other_o civil_a virtue_n the_o three_o be_v spiritual_a knowledge_n not_o proceed_v either_o from_o natural_a instinct_n or_o reason_n itself_o but_o from_o the_o enlighten_v of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o it_o have_v sundry_a fruit_n first_o it_o enable_v man_n to_o know_v these_o thing_n in_o their_o right_a cause_n as_o that_o these_o gift_n of_o meat_n drink_n &_o such_o like_a proceed_v from_o god_n not_o as_o he_o be_v the_o god_n of_o nature_n only_o but_o as_o by_o grace_n in_o christ_n he_o be_v our_o god_n yea_o our_o father_n &_o so_o they_o become_v pledge_n of_o his_o special_a mercy_n see_v they_o be_v now_o restore_v again_o to_o the_o believer_n have_v be_v former_o lose_v in_o adam_n fall_n second_o this_o knowledge_n cause_v man_n to_o know_v they_o in_o the_o due_a measure_n of_o their_o goodness_n and_o excellency_n right_o discern_v they_o from_o spiritual_a blessing_n so_o as_o the_o heart_n shall_v not_o be_v set_v upon_o they_o in_o the_o first_o place_n but_o upon_o the_o other_o as_o of_o far_o high_a esteem_n yea_o they_o shall_v be_v count_v as_o dung_n in_o regard_n of_o these_o three_o it_o instruct_v
god_n or_o no._n use_v first_o whereas_o all_o man_n good_a and_o bad_a have_v innumerable_a lust_n in_o they_o we_o be_v to_o take_v notice_n of_o the_o vileness_n and_o uncleanness_n of_o our_o nature_n which_o be_v common_a to_o the_o good_a and_o bad_a between_o who_o there_o be_v no_o difference_n but_o by_o grace_n our_o endeavour_n must_v be_v to_o see_v more_o and_o more_o these_o lust_n stir_v and_o move_v themselves_o against_o god_n and_o man_n second_o to_o mourn_v and_o bewail_v they_o three_o to_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v bury_v they_o all_o in_o the_o death_n and_o grave_n of_o his_o son_n that_o they_o stand_v not_o up_o in_o judgement_n against_o we_o be_v every_o of_o they_o sufficient_a to_o procure_v our_o eternal_a destruction_n second_o we_o must_v not_o suffer_v sin_n to_o reign_v in_o we_o us._n for_o this_o be_v the_o part_n of_o a_o ungodly_a person_n true_a it_o be_v that_o lust_n will_v be_v in_o the_o heart_n while_o a_o man_n be_v in_o the_o flesh_n but_o they_o must_v be_v resist_v that_o they_o may_v not_o reign_v and_o rule_v the_o heart_n quest._n how_o shall_v we_o keep_v under_o the_o lust_n of_o the_o heart_n from_o reign_v over_o we_o ans._n see_v sin_n reign_v in_o the_o mind_n by_o evil_a thought_n our_o thought_n on_o the_o contrary_n must_v be_v frame_v according_a to_o the_o word_n and_o order_v by_o the_o counsel_n thereof_o according_a to_o the_o apostle_n advice_n phil._n 4.8_o if_o any_o thing_n be_v honest_a virtuous_a of_o good_a report_n we_o must_v think_v of_o these_o thing_n coloss._n 3.16_o let_v the_o if_o it_o be_v the_o property_n of_o a_o wicked_a man_n to_o follow_v after_o ungodly_a lust_n we_o ought_v to_o purge_v ourselves_o from_o all_o the_o lust_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o spirit_n 2._o cor._n 7.1_o lest_o these_o defile_v our_o body_n and_o soul_n in_o the_o power_n and_o part_n of_o they_o to_o do_v which_o the_o better_a 5.8_o remember_v that_o bless_a be_v the_o pure_a in_o seducer_n fasten_v two_o sin_n more_o upon_o they_o the_o first_o whereof_o be_v that_o they_o be_v maker_n of_o sect_n the_o second_o that_o they_o have_v not_o the_o spirit_n for_o the_o former_a the_o word_n signify_v a_o single_v and_o separate_n of_o themselves_o from_o the_o church_n and_o people_n of_o god_n and_o consequent_o the_o make_n of_o sect_n to_o themselves_o neither_o may_v this_o seem_v strange_a that_o there_o shall_v be_v such_o person_n that_o make_v such_o separation_n see_v it_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o every_o sinner_n to_o fly_v from_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n as_o adam_n do_v and_o peter_n when_o he_o have_v see_v a_o part_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o christ_n bid_v he_o depart_v from_o he_o for_o he_o be_v a_o sinner_n the_o prodigal_a son_n must_v have_v the_o sacrament_n and_o to_o call_v upon_o god_n in_o the_o congregation_n for_o so_o much_o as_o they_o can_v they_o cut_v themselves_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n in_o reject_v the_o mean_n of_o their_o salvation_n ob._n they_o allege_v for_o themselves_o that_o if_o they_o shall_v come_v they_o shall_v hear_v but_o a_o weak_a man_n like_o themselves_o speak_v unto_o they_o and_o if_o christ_n himself_o or_o some_o angel_n shall_v preach_v unto_o they_o they_o will_v hear_v willing_o ans._n lay_v aside_o all_o dispute_v and_o yield_v unto_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n who_o private_o yet_o the_o affection_n must_v be_v wrought_v and_o move_v in_o the_o public_a ministry_n three_o those_o that_o know_v the_o most_o know_v but_o in_o part_n and_o the_o ministry_n be_v institute_v not_o only_o to_o initiate_v and_o begin_v man_n but_o to_o confirm_v they_o in_o grace_n and_o lead_v they_o to_o perfection_n for_o which_o end_n the_o lord_n have_v give_v pastor_n and_o doctor_n of_o the_o church_n to_o teach_v man_n until_o they_o come_v unto_o a_o
two_o thing_n first_o who_o be_v a_o natural_a man_n second_o that_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n to_o be_v a_o natural_a man_n for_o it_o be_v note_v as_o a_o main_a sin_n in_o these_o seducer_n touch_v the_o former_a a_o natural_a man_n be_v he_o who_o live_v a_o natural_a life_n be_v endue_v with_o a_o reasonable_a soul_n and_o be_v govern_v by_o nature_n reason_n and_o sense_n only_o without_o grace_n or_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n which_o may_v appear_v first_o by_o the_o word_n natural_a which_o signify_v such_o a_o man_n as_o in_o who_o the_o best_a thing_n be_v nature_n and_o in_o who_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o excellent_a than_o his_o reasonable_a soul_n though_o corrupt_v second_o by_o the_o exposition_n or_o rather_o opposition_n in_o the_o word_n wherein_o it_o be_v oppose_v unto_o the_o spirit_n who_o be_v want_v unto_o such_o a_o one_o to_o lead_v he_o in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o heavenly_a life_n further_o that_o yet_o we_o may_v know_v this_o matter_n the_o better_a there_o be_v three_o thing_n to_o be_v find_v in_o a_o natural_a man_n 1._o he_o have_v a_o body_n and_o soul_n unite_v together_o in_o one_o person_n 2._o in_o his_o soul_n he_o have_v excellent_a power_n and_o faculty_n as_o will_v understanding_n affection_n 3._o he_o have_v all_o the_o ornament_n of_o man_n yet_o so_o as_o without_o grace_n such_o as_o be_v strength_n of_o body_n and_o mind_n memory_n knowledge_n of_o art_n and_o science_n civil_a policy_n and_o virtue_n as_o justice_n prudence_n temperance_n discretion_n to_o discern_v what_o be_v meet_v to_o be_v do_v what_o not_o these_o be_v ornament_n incident_a to_o corrupt_v nature_n serve_v not_o to_o abolish_v but_o to_o restrain_v and_o bridle_v corruption_n and_o contain_v man_n in_o order_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o humane_a society_n now_o he_o that_o have_v these_o three_o and_o nothing_o else_o be_v but_o a_o mere_a natural_a man_n the_o second_o point_n be_v that_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n to_o be_v a_o natural_a man_n here_o it_o may_v be_v ask_v how_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o a_o natural_a man_n because_o he_o be_v a_o natural_a man_n offend_v god_n ans._n there_o be_v two_o thing_n in_o every_o natural_a man_n to_o be_v distinguish_v first_o there_o be_v nature_n second_o the_o corruption_n of_o nature_n the_o former_a be_v from_o god_n the_o latter_a from_o man_n fall_n which_o two_o may_v be_v indeed_o distinguish_v but_o can_v now_o be_v separate_v the_o one_o be_v not_o the_o other_o but_o the_o one_o be_v not_o without_o the_o other_o this_o corruption_n be_v that_o sin_n which_o press_v we_o down_o and_o hang_v so_o fast_o on_o heb._n 12.1_o which_o have_v corrupt_v the_o whole_a man_n so_o as_o the_o whole_a frame_n of_o man_n that_o be_v his_o whole_a disposition_n and_o inclination_n be_v corrupt_v and_o evil_a from_o his_o youth_n genes_n 8.21_o his_o wisdom_n be_v enmity_n to_o god_n that_o be_v even_o the_o best_a thing_n that_o be_v or_o can_v be_v in_o the_o flesh_n be_v hateful_a to_o god_n rom._n 8.5_o himself_o be_v dead_a in_o sin_n and_o trespass_n ephes._n 2.1_o have_v no_o more_o ability_n to_o move_v to_o any_o thing_n true_o good_a than_o have_v a_o dead_a man_n to_o bestir_v himself_o in_o and_o about_o the_o action_n of_o life_n for_o the_o clear_a behold_v of_o this_o corruption_n of_o man_n nature_n mark_v that_o there_o be_v two_o degree_n of_o it_o the_o former_a whereof_o be_v a_o want_n of_o that_o goodness_n and_o righteousness_n which_o at_o first_o be_v and_o now_o aught_o to_o be_v find_v in_o our_o nature_n the_o latter_a be_v a_o proneness_n and_o disposition_n unto_o all_o evil_a which_o carry_v the_o heart_n on_o every_o occasion_n thereunto_o this_o corruption_n must_v be_v conceive_v as_o a_o ocean_n sea_n send_v out_o into_o every_o channel_n and_o vein_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o whole_a man_n stream_n and_o flood_n of_o wickedness_n for_o look_v into_o the_o principal_a power_n of_o
