parable_n it_o be_v a_o riddle_n it_o be_v a_o dark_a say_n and_o certain_o the_o wise_a man_n in_o the_o begin_n of_o his_o book_n of_o proverb_n or_o parable_n as_o he_o call_v they_o wherein_o be_v the_o treasure_n of_o the_o gospel_n he_o call_v the_o gospel_n there_o parable_n prov._n 9_o 6._o now_o that_o christ_n in_o the_o flesh_n be_v such_o a_o parable_n may_v be_v make_v good_a unto_o you_o thus_o there_o be_v one_o thing_n do_v appear_v outward_o and_o run_v into_o the_o sense_n of_o man_n and_o there_o be_v another_o thing_n hold_v forth_o under_o that_o which_o few_o do_v bargain_n between_o god_n and_o christ_n the_o do_n and_o suffering_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o flesh_n and_o by_o these_o do_n and_o suffering_n our_o life_n our_o justification_n and_o our_o peace_n this_o be_v the_o outward_a form_n as_o it_o be_v this_o be_v the_o parable_n now_o what_o be_v that_o which_o be_v hold_v forth_o under_o this_o parable_n there_o be_v these_o two_o thing_n that_o be_v veil_v and_o hide_v under_o this_o parable_n which_o most_o man_n do_v not_o set_v their_o eye_n upon_o and_o the_o first_o be_v this_o the_o love_n of_o the_o father_n this_o be_v scarce_o eye_v by_o most_o man_n but_o they_o think_v that_o the_o work_n of_o their_o salvation_n proceed_v from_o the_o kind_a heart_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o so_o they_o look_v upon_o his_o humane_a heart_n and_o affection_n as_o the_o root_n and_o original_a of_o their_o redemption_n whereas_o christ_n tell_v we_o in_o this_o chapter_n i_o say_v not_o that_o i_o will_v pray_v for_o you_o for_o the_o father_n himself_o love_v you_o as_o who_o shall_v say_v though_o i_o shall_v hold_v my_o peace_n the_o father_n himself_o love_v you_o now_o this_o be_v that_o which_o few_o man_n see_v in_o and_o under_o this_o parable_n christ_n jesus_n in_o his_o die_n for_o man_n be_v set_v up_o by_o god_n in_o the_o place_n of_o god_n to_o show_v we_o the_o great_a love_n that_o god_n do_v bear_v unto_o find_v these_o name_n give_v unto_o christ_n and_o these_o thing_n speak_v of_o he_o that_o he_o be_v the_o brightness_n of_o the_o father_n glory_n and_o the_o express_a image_n of_o his_o person_n and_o we_o see_v his_o glory_n say_v john_n as_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o only_o beget_v son_n of_o god_n the_o apostle_n and_o spiritual_a man_n see_v the_o love_n of_o god_n hold_v forth_o through_o the_o flesh_n it_o do_v indeed_o hold_v forth_o the_o model_n and_o platform_n of_o that_o salvation_n that_o be_v carry_v on_o in_o the_o spirit_n and_o be_v reveal_v in_o the_o breast_n of_o the_o saint_n i_o say_v that_o be_v wrought_v and_o reveal_v there_o suitable_o and_o agreable_o to_o all_o those_o step_n and_o stage_n to_o all_o those_o point_n and_o period_n you_o shall_v find_v in_o the_o letter_n the_o same_o thing_n be_v do_v in_o the_o saint_n in_o the_o spirit_n that_o be_v do_v in_o and_o upon_o christ_n in_o the_o flesh_n and_o now_o i_o have_v open_v this_o point_n unto_o you_o if_o you_o require_v any_o reason_n for_o it_o why_o god_n do_v speak_v to_o we_o in_o a_o parable_n and_o why_o he_o show_v we_o thing_n as_o in_o a_o glass_n why_o he_o show_v we_o rather_o the_o image_n of_o thing_n than_o the_o thing_n themselves_o reason_n it_o be_v because_o of_o our_o weakness_n it_o be_v because_o of_o our_o childishness_n it_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o the_o heathen_a to_o put_v wisdom_n into_o parable_n to_o put_v their_o wise_a observation_n into_o fable_n into_o pleasant_a tale_n and_o story_n for_o these_o two_o reason_n first_o that_o they_o may_v hide_v wisdom_n from_o the_o vulgar_a 2._o that_o they_o may_v the_o better_o insinuate_v it_o into_o their_o child_n and_o those_o that_o be_v ingenuous_a and_o these_o two_o reason_n may_v be_v give_v why_o god_n teach_v the_o world_n by_o parable_n it_o be_v for_o their_o weakness_n sake_n it_o be_v to_o take_v they_o and_o lead_v they_o by_o the_o hand_n to_o speak_v to_o they_o in_o childish_a thing_n in_o thing_n within_o their_o own_o sphere_n and_o understanding_n so_o god_n have_v do_v to_o we_o in_o the_o flesh_n of_o christ_n you_o will_v believe_v a_o man_n love_v you_o if_o he_o will_v die_v for_o you_o you_o will_v believe_v a_o creditor_n will_v be_v reconcile_v to_o you_o if_o he_o pay_v the_o debt_n himself_o why_o behold_v thus_o do_v god_n satisfy_v man_n 2._o rea._n god_n do_v this_o to_o hide_v these_o thing_n from_o the_o profane_a of_o the_o world_n i_o thank_v thou_o o_o father_n lord_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n that_o thou_o have_v hide_v these_o thing_n from_o the_o wise_a and_o have_v reveal_v they_o unto_o babe_n etc._n etc._n and_o therefore_o if_o you_o observe_v it_o christ_n do_v common_o speak_v to_o the_o multitude_n in_o parable_n they_o have_v parable_n upon_o parable_n they_o have_v rind_n upon_o rind_n one_o shell_n upon_o another_o that_o they_o can_v not_o easy_o come_v to_o the_o kernel_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v this_o that_o wicked_a and_o profane_a man_n may_v scoff_n and_o jeer_v at_o the_o letter_n and_o parable_n but_o god_n do_v keep_v the_o truth_n from_o that_o contempt_n and_o obloquy_n the_o outward_a court_n be_v give_v to_o the_o gentile_n to_o be_v tread_v down_o god_n make_v it_o not_o much_o matter_n man_n may_v tread_v down_o outward_a form_n and_o god_n may_v let_v they_o profane_v they_o but_o there_o be_v a_o place_n where_o none_o come_v that_o defile_v and_o that_o be_v the_o spirit_n the_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jesus_n god_n truth_n be_v himself_o we_o know_v that_o precious_a thing_n have_v cover_v upon_o cover_v they_o have_v lapping_n one_o upon_o another's_o jewel_n have_v casket_n to_o put_v they_o in_o though_o the_o casket_n fall_v into_o the_o dirt_n yet_o the_o jewel_n will_v be_v keep_v clean_o so_o profane_a and_o wicked_a man_n may_v preach_v and_o receive_v the_o gospel_n in_o a_o parable_n in_o the_o outward_a letter_n but_o what_o have_v thou_o to_o do_v to_o take_v my_o word_n in_o thy_o mouth_n the_o word_n in_o the_o spirit_n for_o it_o be_v that_o hide_a wisdom_n that_o be_v prepare_v for_o our_o glory_n as_o the_o apostle_n say_v spirit_n do_v you_o find_v these_o transaction_n to_o be_v transact_v over_o again_o in_o you_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n in_o you_o the_o life_n of_o christ_n in_o you_o the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n in_o you_o now_o a_o further_a thing_n i_o aim_v at_o be_v this_o and_o this_o special_o the_o plain_a show_v of_o the_o father_n by_o the_o spirit_n hitherto_o have_v i_o speak_v to_o you_o in_o parable_n the_o time_n come_v when_o i_o will_v speak_v no_o more_o to_o you_o in_o parable_n but_o will_v show_v you_o plain_o of_o the_o father_n i_o shall_v only_o speak_v at_o this_o time_n of_o the_o object_n of_o divine_a discovery_n and_o that_o be_v the_o father_n the_o time_n come_v that_o i_o will_v show_v you_o plain_o of_o the_o father_n so_o that_o the_o point_n be_v this_o doctr._n that_o the_o adequate_a object_n or_o the_o whole_a and_o entire_a object_n of_o the_o discovery_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o gospel_n be_v the_o discovery_n of_o the_o father_n unto_o we_o this_o our_o saviour_n plain_o intimate_v here_o in_o say_v the_o time_n come_v that_o i_o will_v show_v you_o plain_o of_o the_o
wrought_v and_o reveal_v within_o we_o by_o the_o spirit_n and_o therefore_o as_o christ_n say_v we_o may_v be_v bold_a to_o say_v after_o he_o the_o flesh_n profit_v nothing_o if_o you_o only_o have_v the_o same_o spirit_n of_o faith_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o the_o same_o spirit_n of_o power_n that_o wrought_v in_o he_o you_o must_v have_v the_o same_o eternal_a spirit_n by_o which_o you_o must_v offer_v up_o your_o body_n offer_v up_o your_o flesh_n to_o god_n as_o a_o sacrifice_n yea_o yourselves_o and_o your_o own_o righteousness_n this_o be_v true_a salvation_n here_o be_v
