they_o though_o live_a rod_n for_o howsoever_o david_n 1._o sam._n 24._o oppose_v the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o man_n and_o say_v it_o be_v better_a to_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n then_o of_o man_n yet_o we_o must_v know_v that_o even_o that_o which_o david_n call_v the_o hand_n of_o man_n be_v the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o although_o it_o be_v better_a for_o we_o to_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n immediate_o correct_v we_o then_o mediate_o by_o evil_a man_n as_o it_o be_v better_a for_o the_o child_n to_o have_v a_o box_n on_o the_o ear_n with_o his_o father_n hand_n then_o to_o be_v scourge_v with_o a_o whip_n and_o that_o god_n show_v more_o mercy_n ordinary_o in_o the_o former_a kind_n of_o correction_n then_o in_o the_o latter_a yet_o mercy_n also_o do_v he_o show_v unto_o we_o in_o the_o latter_a in_o that_o he_o bridle_v and_o curb_n yea_o oftentimes_o mollify_v and_o mitigate_v the_o mind_n even_o of_o most_o fiery_a and_o furious_a adversary_n suffer_v they_o to_o do_v no_o more_o than_o he_o himself_o have_v appoint_v 2._o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v in_o this_o our_o bless_a man_n be_v that_o he_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n in_o his_o law_n and_o teach_v in_o thy_o law_n here_o note_n that_o happiness_n be_v not_o ascribe_v to_o the_o doct._n man_n chastise_v unless_o as_o he_o be_v chastise_v so_o also_o he_o be_v teach_v of_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o law_n see_v then_o who_o be_v the_o man_n that_o may_v challenge_v part_n in_o this_o blessedness_n which_o be_v here_o give_v to_o the_o afflict_a he_o who_o be_v school_v and_o nurture_v of_o the_o lord_n by_o the_o mean_a of_o his_o affliction_n and_o thereby_o learn_v many_o godly_a lesson_n which_o he_o know_v not_o before_o affliction_n in_o themselves_o be_v token_n of_o god_n anger_n curse_n rather_o than_o blessing_n but_o yet_o when_o god_n by_o his_o wonderful_a power_n drawing_z light_n even_o out_o of_o darkness_n shall_v turn_v they_o to_o schoolmaster_n it_o be_v two_o fold_n 1._o the_o outward_a affliction_n and_o chastifement_n who_o thou_o chastise_v teach_v that_o be_v who_o by_o chastise_v thou_o teach_v 2._o god_n himself_o who_o be_v the_o chief_a and_o principal_a head_n schoolmaster_n the_o other_o be_v but_o a_o inferior_a and_o subordinate_a one_o who_o thou_o teach_v and_o for_o the_o second_o point_n the_o lesson_n teach_v they_o be_v include_v general_o in_o those_o word_n in_o thy_o law_n to_o begin_v then_o with_o the_o schoolmaster_n and_o first_o with_o the_o first_o the_o first_o schoolmaster_n be_v affliction_n a_o sharp_a doct._n and_o severe_a and_o swing_a schoolmaster_n indeed_o &_o so_o much_o the_o fit_a for_o such_o stout_a and_o stubborn_a scholar_n as_o we_o be_v who_o because_o we_o will_v not_o be_v overcome_v by_o fair_a mean_n must_v needs_o therefore_o be_v deal_v withal_o by_o foul_a for_o god_n do_v not_o willing_o afflict_v we_o but_o be_v necessary_o thereunto_o enforce_v by_o that_o strength_n of_o corruption_n in_o we_o which_o otherwise_o will_v not_o be_v subdue_v so_o physician_n and_o surgeon_n be_v constrain_v to_o come_v to_o cut_v lance_a and_o burn_v when_o but_o hurt_v they_o can_v christ_n have_v full_o satisfy_v god_n justice_n and_o therefore_o no_o further_o punishment_n can_v be_v demand_v of_o us._n therefore_o our_o affliction_n be_v now_o no_o
