their_o imperfection_n not_o that_o we_o shall_v forsake_v they_o but_o perfect_v they_o nor_o yet_o lose_v they_o but_o refine_v and_o fulfil_v they_o in_o god_n for_o as_o seed_n be_v not_o lose_v corrupt_v but_o rather_o to_o be_v alter_v or_o change_v into_o corn_n so_o also_o we_o say_v improper_o that_o these_o good_a desire_n be_v nothing_o but_o rather_o change_v and_o transform_v into_o union_n howbeit_o as_o the_o grain_n be_v never_o at_o length_n return_v the_o same_o but_o remain_v for_o ever_o transform_v or_o alter_v into_o corn_n as_o into_o his_o effect_n and_o last_o end_n and_o perfection_n so_o neither_o be_v these_o good_a desire_n ever_o after_o to_o be_v begin_v again_o but_o to_o persevere_v transform_v into_o union_n as_o into_o their_o effect_n and_o crown_n of_o completeness_n last_o as_o the_o grain_n be_v not_o to_o be_v cast_v in_o every_o earth_n nor_o at_o all_o time_n but_o very_o careful_o both_o commodiousness_n of_o place_n and_o opportunity_n with_o itself_o it_o nothing_o all_o other_o thing_n not_o only_a when_o it_o sail_v with_o the_o actual_a blast_n and_o breath_n of_o this_o will_n or_o divine_a be_v but_o even_o then_o also_o when_o the_o soul_n feel_v drought_n and_o barrenness_n annihilate_v all_o thing_n feel_v as_o well_o as_o those_o which_o be_v go_v and_o vanish_v the_o which_o point_n require_v careful_a attention_n for_o thus_o it_o annihilate_v as_o well_o all_o thing_n that_o remain_v after_o feeling_n as_o also_o that_o same_o which_o annihilate_v they_o i._n the_o own_o understanding_n and_o knowledge_n with_o all_o manner_n of_o work_v thereof_o not_o endure_v that_o any_o thing_n whatsoever_o image_n nor_o feeling_n remain_v but_o only_o god_n for_o strength_n also_o because_o neither_o a_o multitude_n of_o outward_a affair_n nor_o abundance_n of_o inward_a or_o intellectual_a working_n can_v hinder_v this_o annihilation_n or_o distract_v the_o man_n himself_o for_o strength_n again_o because_o it_o be_v not_o only_o far_o distant_a from_o sense_n but_o flat_a contrary_n thereto_o so_o that_o it_o annihilate_v thing_n not_o only_a when_o the_o mind_n in_o abstraction_n second_o perfection_n of_o active_a annihilation_n and_o both_o these_o perfection_n be_v not_o so_o perfect_o find_v in_o the_o passive_a annihilation_n which_o stay_v always_o the_o actual_a lure_n of_o god_n there_o be_v many_o that_o both_o know_v and_o practice_v the_o passive_a but_o few_o the_o active_a and_o so_o they_o no_o soon_o fasten_v on_o any_o work_n bodily_a or_o spiritual_a but_o they_o easy_o sink_v fall_v down_o and_o become_v divide_v and_o so_o live_v always_o in_o languish_v and_o unsatisfiednesse_n of_o spirit_n these_o two_o annihilation_n make_v to_o a_o twofold_a love_n fruitive_a and_o practic_a whereon_o stand_v the_o whole_a spiritual_a life_n the_o passive_n tend_v to_o the_o fruitive_a love_n the_o active_a to_o the_o practic_n for_o in_o as_o much_o as_o these_o two_o love_n be_v never_o perfect_a till_o in_o the_o practic_n love_n we_o can_v enjoy_v god_n even_o as_o in_o the_o fruitive_a it_o be_v therefore_o expedient_a that_o this_o active_a annihilation_n mediate_v to_o annihilate_v the_o act_n of_o this_o practic_n love_n which_o otherwise_o may_v hinder_v that_o enjoy_n and_o raise_v so_o many_o middle_a wall_n between_o god_n and_o the_o soul_n as_o therefore_o the_o passive_a annihilation_n nothing_o all_o thing_n by_o dead_v all_o our_o feel_n of_o they_o and_o transchang_v they_o into_o enjoy_v love_n so_o the_o active_a annihilate_v they_o also_o still_o remain_v though_o in_o sense_n we_o feel_v they_o transform_v they_o into_o fruitive_a love_n so_o that_o the_o love_n which_o without_o this_o active_a annihilation_n be_v mere_o practic_n may_v thus_o become_v fruitive_a and_o so_o by_o this_o active_a annihilation_n we_o shall_v continual_o enjoy_v god_n whether_o we_o work_v and_o produce_v act_n or_o no._n but_o as_o the_o same_o fall_v not_o under_o sense_n but_o be_v only_o spiritual_a and_o supernatural_a so_o the_o enjoyance_n to_o which_o it_o lead_v we_o be_v not_o perceive_v in_o our_o feel_n but_o in_o spirit_n and_o transcend_v nature_n chap._n xii_o that_o this_o active_a annihilation_n consist_v in_o equal_v the_o passive_a the_o practice_n of_o it_o in_o light_n and_o remembrance_n the_o perfection_n of_o this_o active_a annihilation_n consist_v in_o equal_v the_o passive_a in_o a_o death_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o in_o a_o passive_a annihilation_n after_o the_o out-turning_a and_o distraction_n which_o befall_v not_o in_o this_o remembrance_n because_o it_o nothing_o all_o distraction_n whatsoever_o again_o i_o call_v it_o remembrance_n because_o it_o consist_v in_o a_o act_n of_o the_o soul_n so_o much_o as_o in_o the_o divine_a work_n upon_o she_o not_o proceed_v from_o she_o but_o from_o god_n three_o because_o it_o change_v not_o the_o state_n of_o the_o soul_n make_v her_o near_o to_o the_o divine_a be_v nor_o the_o divine_a be_v near_o to_o she_o but_o only_o let_v she_o see_v where_o in_o what_o degree_n and_o state_n she_o be_v even_o it_o be_v somewhat_o indeed_o and_o therefore_o not_o a_o little_a to_o be_v fear_v but_o if_o his_o anihilation_n be_v perfect_a the_o work_n be_v nothing_o nor_o worth_n his_o fear_n yea_o he_o that_o so_o abandon_v a_o necessary_a work_n sustain_v double_a disadvantage_n and_o incur_v a_o double_a blindness_n first_o on_o the_o thing_n which_o to_o he_o be_v turn_v into_o darkness_n and_o second_o on_o the_o fear_n part_n which_o with_o the_o stroke_n raise_v obscurity_n wherein_o they_o fail_v exceed_o who_o desire_v to_o do_v any_o thing_n repine_v and_o excuse_v themselves_o conversion_n to_o god_n which_o often_o befall_v those_o who_o have_v any_o outward_a work_n or_o any_o meditation_n in_o hand_n think_v they_o can_v come_v to_o god_n till_o the_o work_n be_v do_v which_o manner_n of_o do_v contain_v two_o fail_n one_o that_o in_o this_o work_n they_o be_v not_o first_o unite_v
