receive_v christ_n because_o it_o be_v by_o this_o sense_n on_o our_o mind_n that_o christ_n be_v look_v upon_o as_o the_o most_o suitable_a good_a and_o consequent_o as_o the_o most_o desirable_a good_a as_o i_o show_v before_o it_o be_v by_o mean_n of_o this_o sense_n when_o any_o thing_n strong_a and_o affect_a that_o christ_n become_v precious_a unto_o man_n as_o he_o be_v to_o every_o one_o that_o believe_v to_o you_o that_o believe_v he_o be_v precious_a say_v s._n peter_n 1_o pet._n 2.7_o a_o true_a sense_n of_o the_o danger_n we_o be_v in_o by_o have_v provoke_v the_o great_a god_n against_o we_o give_v great_a disquietness_n to_o the_o mind_n until_o we_o come_v to_o know_v that_o that_o displeasure_n be_v take_v off_o and_o the_o danger_n we_o be_v in_o thereby_o remove_v and_o it_o be_v the_o sense_n of_o this_o danger_n that_o make_v christ_n precious_a to_o we_o when_o we_o come_v to_o understand_v that_o we_o can_v escape_v this_o danger_n but_o by_o he_o and_o when_o we_o find_v that_o pain_n remove_v by_o believe_v in_o he_o which_o the_o sense_n of_o danger_n before_o put_v we_o to_o and_o it_o be_v this_o sense_n that_o prepare_v the_o soul_n to_o receive_v christ_n as_o lord_n as_o well_o as_o saviour_n by_o that_o time_n the_o gospel_n be_v well_o open_v to_o man_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o they_o understand_v thereby_o that_o none_o can_v have_v the_o benefit_n of_o that_o atonement_n and_o satisfaction_n make_v by_o his_o death_n but_o such_o as_o be_v content_a to_o be_v govern_v by_o he_o in_o their_o life_n and_o to_o yield_v obedience_n to_o his_o precept_n that_o none_o can_v be_v save_v by_o he_o that_o refuse_v to_o become_v sincere_a disciple_n to_o he_o and_o they_o will_v find_v it_o no_o unreasonable_a thing_n for_o they_o to_o obey_v his_o precept_n and_o to_o imitate_v his_o example_n when_o they_o understand_v that_o to_o do_v so_o be_v in_o effect_n but_o to_o abandon_v those_o sin_n which_o create_v so_o much_o trouble_v in_o their_o mind_n before_o by_o make_v they_o liable_a to_o and_o by_o put_v they_o in_o fear_n of_o the_o eternal_a wrath_n of_o almighty_a god_n the_o sense_n of_o that_o danger_n their_o sin_n have_v expose_v they_o to_o and_o of_o that_o anxiety_n of_o mind_n they_o be_v bring_v into_o thereby_o will_v prepare_v the_o mind_n and_o dispose_v the_o will_n to_o receive_v christ_n as_o lord_n and_o to_o obey_v he_o in_o forsake_v those_o sin_n so_o long_o as_o they_o be_v well_o assure_v that_o then_o and_o not_o till_o then_o they_o shall_v be_v pardon_v through_o his_o blood_n and_o so_o be_v discharge_v from_o those_o fear_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n which_o have_v give_v they_o such_o uneasiness_n of_o mind_n before_o and_o when_o they_o have_v find_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o ease_n of_o mind_n and_o peace_n in_o the_o spirit_n which_o they_o have_v by_o their_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n so_o long_o as_o they_o obey_v he_o and_o the_o sad_a thought_n dark_a and_o doubtful_a apprehension_n misgiving_n of_o mind_n and_o storm_n in_o the_o spirit_n which_o sin_n have_v wrought_v and_o raise_v in_o the_o soul_n before_o it_o will_v then_o make_v they_o out_o of_o love_n with_o sin_n and_o afraid_a to_o have_v any_o more_o to_o do_v with_o it_o and_o thus_o you_o see_v according_a to_o the_o reason_n and_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n how_o useful_a and_o necessary_a such_o a_o sense_n be_v as_o i_o have_v oft_o mention_v to_o prepare_v and_o dispose_v man_n to_o go_v to_o or_o to_o receive_v christ_n when_o he_o be_v make_v know_v to_o they_o by_o the_o gospel_n and_o that_o as_o well_o now_o under_o the_o gospel_n as_o before_o if_o by_o receive_v christ_n we_o understand_v such_o a_o receive_n as_o be_v save_v but_o otherwise_o man_n may_v and_o doubtless_o do_v without_o any_o such_o sense_n as_o be_v effectual_a to_o its_o end_n not_o only_o profess_v belief_n in_o christ_n but_o also_o real_o believe_v in_o he_o with_o a_o inoperative_a ineffectual_a and_o dead_a faith_n and_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v yet_o far_o see_v how_o necessary_a such_o a_o sense_n in_o man_n of_o their_o danger_n as_o i_o have_v be_v speak_v of_o be_v to_o prepare_v and_o dispose_v they_o to_o come_v to_o christ_n in_o good_a earnest_n and_o to_o believe_v in_o he_o with_o all_o their_o heart_n i_o shall_v show_v it_o you_o by_o the_o method_n which_o our_o saviour_n and_o his_o apostle_n use_v in_o their_o preach_n both_o he_o and_o they_o insist_v main_o in_o the_o first_o place_n in_o order_n to_o man_n conversion_n upon_o such_o doctrine_n as_o tend_v to_o beget_v in_o they_o a_o great_a sense_n of_o their_o danger_n by_o reason_n of_o guilt_n upon_o they_o and_o this_o they_o do_v by_o preach_v repentance_n by_o which_o as_o i_o shall_v present_o show_v they_o labour_v to_o beget_v such_o a_o sense_n in_o man_n our_o saviour_n begin_v his_o preach_v with_o this_o mat._n 4.17_o from_o that_o which_o they_o persuade_v they_o to_o it_o we_o know_v the_o terror_n of_o the_o lord_n we_o persuade_v man_n say_v s._n paul_n 2_o cor._n 5.11_o thus_o our_o saviour_n teach_v the_o people_n that_o
