one_o with_o the_o fountain_n of_o comfort_n and_o by_o it_o repeat_v act_n derive_v fresh_a comfort_n again_o faith_n establish_v the_o heart_n now_o to_o establish_v the_o soul_n there_o must_v be_v a_o solid_a basis_n as_o in_o build_v there_o must_v be_v a_o foundation_n and_o a_o plant_n upon_o that_o foundation_n now_o here_o be_v a_o foundation_n god_n and_o christ_n and_o there_o must_v be_v a_o grace_n to_o found_v and_o bottom_n the_o soul_n thereupon_o and_o that_o be_v faith_n and_o so_o the_o soul_n be_v establish_v the_o chain_n and_o connexion_n of_o cause_n herein_o be_v this_o god_n the_o father_n in_o christ_n and_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n convey_v comfort_n through_o the_o word_n lay_v hold_v upon_o by_o faith_n it_o be_v not_o the_o word_n alone_o for_o that_o be_v but_o as_o the_o vein_n and_o attery_n that_o convey_v the_o blood_n and_o spirit_n so_o the_o spirit_n be_v convey_v by_o the_o promise_n help_v the_o soul_n to_o lay_v itself_o upon_o christ_n by_o faith_n which_o be_v a_o grace_n of_o union_n by_o which_o union_n with_o he_o the_o foul_a be_v establish_v and_o then_o again_o faith_n stir_v up_o such_o grace_n as_o do_v comfort_n the_o soul_n as_o hope_v in_o all_o good_a thing_n promise_v and_o therefore_o in_o the_o next_o verse_n he_o add_v to_o comfort_v they_o in_o my_o father_n house_n be_v many_o mansion_n and_o

promise_n what_o be_v in_o the_o world_n or_o in_o the_o rank_n of_o good_a thing_n but_o faith_n out-bids_a it_o by_o set_a heaven_n against_o it_o and_o what_o evil_a be_v there_o but_o faith_n christ_n have_v do_v the_o miracle_n which_o none_o can_v do_v but_o god_n but_o also_o by_o what_o be_v do_v to_o he_o and_o two_o thing_n be_v do_v to_o he_o which_o show_v that_o he_o be_v god_n that_o be_v faith_n and_o prayer_n we_o must_v believe_v only_o in_o god_n and_o pray_v only_o to_o god_n but_o christ_n be_v the_o object_n of_o both_o these_o here_o he_o be_v set_v forth_o as_o of_o your_o sight_n you_o must_v see_v i_o suffer_v and_o you_o have_v need_n of_o a_o extraordinary_a measure_n of_o faith_n to_o see_v i_o in_o such_o abasement_n and_o yet_o to_o believe_v that_o i_o be_o god_n we_o must_v grow_v from_o faith_n to_o faith_n we_o may_v live_v by_o it_o continual_o and_o we_o must_v increase_v with_o the_o increase_n of_o god_n that_o as_o our_o difficulty_n do_v increase_v our_o strength_n to_o go_v through_o they_o may_v increase_v also_o as_o they_o pray_v lord_n increase_v our_o faith_n i_o give_v some_o direction_n how_o we_o may_v not_o be_v trouble_v and_o first_o we_o must_v labour_v to_o have_v our_o part_n and_o portion_n in_o christ_n else_o there_o be_v nothing_o belong_v to_o we_o but_o trouble_n there_o be_v two_o sort_n of_o man_n in_o the_o church_n some_o that_o usurp_v a_o peace_n and_o exemption_n from_o trouble_n as_o if_o joy_n and_o comfort_n be_v their_o portion_n satan_n be_v wise_a enough_o not_o to_o trouble_v they_o and_o they_o take_v a_o order_n with_o their_o conscience_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o trouble_v they_o till_o needs_o must_v till_o the_o hour_n of_o death_n or_o some_o dismal_a accident_n the_o only_a way_n for_o such_o be_v to_o be_v trouble_v that_o their_o trouble_n may_v be_v a_o foundation_n of_o their_o comfort_n for_o to_o such_o as_o live_v in_o their_o sin_n against_o conscience_n apparent_o so_o that_o every_o man_n may_v see_v it_o and_o yet_o be_v not_o trouble_v they_o have_v no_o interest_n in_o comfort_n nothing_o but_o woe_n and_o misery_n belong_v to_o they_o indeed_o christ_n come_v to_o save_v sinner_n but_o it_o be_v brokenhearted_a sinner_n penitent_a sinner_n that_o be_v weary_a and_o heavy_a lade_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o sin_n and_o therefore_o though_o these_o speak_v peace_n to_o themselves_o yet_o we_o dare_v not_o speak_v any_o comfort_n to_o they_o from_o christ_n as_o jehu_n say_v to_o joram_n what_o have_v thou_o to_o do_v with_o peace_n as_o long_o as_o the_o whoredom_n of_o thy_o mother_n lezebel_n be_v so_o many_o do_v thou_o talk_v of_o peace_n as_o long_o as_o thou_o be_v a_o sweater_n a_o profane_a liver_n a_o malicious_a person_n against_o all_o that_o be_v true_o good_a what_o have_v thou_o to_o do_v with_o peace_n now_o in_o the_o visible_a church_n there_o be_v another_o sort_n that_o satan_n labour_v to_o trouble_v since_o he_o can_v keep_v they_o in_o the_o state_n of_o nature_n but_o they_o break_v from_o he_o christ_n pull_v they_o out_o of_o satan_n kingdom_n by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o ordinance_n and_o holy_a spirit_n he_o labour_v to_o trouble_v they_o in_o their_o peace_n all_o he_o can_v because_o they_o be_v in_o the_o world_n above_o the_o world_n he_o enjoy_v their_o condition_n that_o they_o shall_v enjoy_v that_o paradise_n which_o he_o leave_v the_o comfort_n that_o he_o once_o have_v and_o therefore_o he_o labour_v to_o disturb_v they_o in_o their_o comfort_n the_o estate_n of_o such_o be_v mix_v here_o in_o this_o world_n they_o have_v that_o in_o they_o and_o without_o they_o which_o will_v always_o be_v a_o cause_n and_o occasion_n of_o trouble_n they_o have_v corruption_n in_o they_o not_o altogether_o subdue_v and_o they_o have_v without_o they_o satan_n take_v advantage_n against_o they_o and_o the_o world_n oppose_v they_o these_o although_o they_o have_v something_o in_o they_o that_o must_v be_v subdue_v yet_o something_o also_o that_o must_v be_v cherish_v and_o strengthen_v and_o therefore_o these_o be_v the_o person_n to_o who_o comfort_n proper_o belong_v in_o heaven_n we_o shall_v have_v no_o need_n of_o be_v comfort_v for_o there_o our_o peace_n shall_v be_v to_o have_v no_o enemy_n at_o all_o our_o peace_n here_o be_v to_o have_v comfort_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o discomfort_n and_o a_o heart_n enlarge_v in_o trouble_n he_o speak_v this_o to_o they_o here_o who_o be_v believer_n already_o you_o believe_v in_o god_n who_o he_o know_v shall_v not_o be_v trouble_v let_v not_o your_o heart_n be_v trouble_v so_o that_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v be_v subject_n capable_a of_o comfort_n we_o must_v be_v such_o as_o by_o faith_n be_v one_o with_o christ_n and_o so_o reconcile_v to_o god_n all_o motion_n end_v in_o rest_n and_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o soul_n end_v in_o god_n the_o centre_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o therefore_o before_o the_o soul_n can_v settle_v itself_o it_o must_v be_v bring_v to_o god_n through_o christ_n that_o must_v be_v lay_v as_o a_o ground_n now_o there_o be_v a_o threefold_a malady_n that_o trouble_v we_o and_o there_o must_v be_v a_o threefold_a peace_n and_o ground_n of_o comfort_n against_o they_o first_o it_o be_v a_o trouble_n to_o the_o soul_n when_o once_o it_o be_v awaken_v that_o god_n and_o it_o shall_v be_v in_o ill_a term_n when_o the_o soul_n look_v upon_o god_n as_o angry_a and_o be_v displease_v with_o it_o again_o the_o soul_n be_v trouble_v when_o it_o look_v upon_o itself_o and_o see_v nothing_o but_o turmoil_n and_o sedition_n there_o three_o when_o it_o look_v upon_o the_o affair_n of_o the_o world_n and_o accident_n here_o below_o it_o be_v full_a of_o confusion_n for_o the_o present_a and_o it_o be_v full_a of_o fear_n for_o time_n to_o come_v that_o thing_n will_v be_v worse_o and_o worse_o thus_o the_o soul_n while_o it_o be_v in_o the_o world_n be_v trouble_v about_o its_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o with_o its_o self_n and_o about_o this_o evil_a world_n now_o before_o the_o soul_n can_v
