a_o truth_n when_o now_o alas_o they_o see_v that_o they_o be_v both_o ignorant_a of_o what_o this_o christ_n be_v or_o what_o be_v mean_v by_o his_o death_n want_v the_o knowledge_n of_o it_o in_o themselves_o now_o the_o terror_n of_o death_n have_v or_o do_v seize_v upon_o they_o and_o instead_o of_o be_v joy_n and_o peace_n unto_o they_o it_o have_v produce_v death_n and_o sorrow_n in_o no_o true_a faith_n can_v be_v but_o this_o second_o that_o none_o have_v any_o gtound_n to_o believe_v but_o upon_o this_o ground_n when_o the_o poor_a heart_n be_v altogether_o ignorant_a in_o his_o a_o misunderstand_v scripture_n without_o he_o but_o in_o a_o right_n discern_v reveal_v and_o know_v god_n within_o he_o three_o this_o soul_n daily_o increase_v in_o the_o assurance_n of_o this_o his_o rest_n by_o his_o daily_a study_n pain_n and_o diligence_n wherein_o he_o fill_v his_o head_n with_o so_o much_o of_o the_o scripture_n as_o indeed_o he_o make_v it_o so_o glorious_a as_o it_o as_o for_o instance_n the_o fountain_n and_o the_o stream_n the_o stream_n be_v a_o effect_n of_o the_o fountain_n flow_v from_o the_o abundance_n contain_v in_o the_o same_o so_o it_o be_v with_o god_n make_v manifest_a in_o the_o heart_n he_o be_v the_o ocean_n or_o fountain_n comprehend_v all_o stream_n within_o himself_o do_v issue_n out_o of_o himself_o those_o stream_n of_o sanctification_n or_o holiness_n in_o conversation_n from_o himself_o thus_o abide_v in_o the_o creature_n so_o that_o a_o man_n may_v have_v the_o latter_a in_o as_o high_a manner_n though_o not_o in_o truth_n as_o he_o that_o have_v god_n true_o manifest_a and_o no_o way_n to_o be_v discern_v but_o by_o the_o light_n of_o truth_n dwell_v within_o which_o make_v the_o truth_n or_o falsehood_n of_o such_o thing_n in_o this_o nature_n manifest_a and_o before_o the_o same_o enjoy_v the_o creature_n be_v in_o darkness_n and_o it_o be_v as_o possible_a for_o a_o man_n to_o see_v twenty_o mile_n in_o a_o very_a dark_a night_n as_o for_o a_o man_n real_o to_o judge_v of_o the_o truth_n or_o falsehood_n of_o his_o own_o condition_n before_o this_o light_n come_v in_o from_o god_n which_o not_o have_v the_o same_o conversation_n in_o holiness_n of_o walk_v or_o power_n against_o corruption_n it_o cry_v out_o o_o that_o i_o be_v so_o holy_a in_o conversation_n as_o such_o a_o one_o be_v o_o that_o i_o have_v such_o and_o such_o a_o power_n against_o corruption_n as_o they_o have_v and_o can_v be_v always_o discover_v of_o good_a thing_n as_o they_o be_v or_o can_v have_v my_o mind_n fix_v upon_o heavenly_a thing_n as_o they_o have_v o_o how_o heavenly_a do_v such_o a_o one_o walk_v and_o this_o be_v his_o construction_n or_o application_n o_o if_o i_o can_v be_v but_o so_o i_o shall_v then_o be_v at_o peace_n and_o rest_n then_o i_o shall_v think_v my_o condition_n happy_a but_o alas_o here_o be_v such_o abundance_n of_o carnal_a mindedness_n and_o of_o corruption_n in_o and_o can_v rest_v quiet_a until_o he_o have_v resemble_v or_o attain_v such_o a_o measure_n of_o knowledge_n to_o discourse_n of_o god_n and_o so_o much_o power_n against_o corruption_n as_o to_o walk_v in_o conversation_n like_o those_o who_o conversation_n do_v convict_v he_o and_o shame_n he_o now_o have_v attain_v so_o much_o in_o show_n and_o that_o now_o his_o affection_n seem_v to_o be_v bend_v upon_o good_a thing_n that_o now_o god_n be_v his_o meditation_n and_o his_o continual_a ponder_v that_o now_o when_o it_o be_v thus_o the_o creature_n have_v much_o peace_n sometime_o upon_o the_o view_n of_o the_o same_o and_o when_o it_o can_v walk_v thus_o it_o have_v neither_o peace_n not_o rest_n now_o here_o the_o creature_n heart_n deceive_v he_o and_o make_v he_o rest_v that_o come_v against_o such_o a_o spirit_n it_o fall_v into_o its_o former_a state_n it_o be_v in_o before_o thus_o build_v so_o be_v the_o devout_a woman_n and_o golden_a sepulcher_n and_o white_v wall_n build_v upon_o such_o consideration_n as_o these_o they_o be_v outward_o holy_a and_o seem_o pure_a but_o be_v within_o full_a of_o deadly_a poison_n and_o be_v put_v for_o outward_a glory_n not_o adorn_v with_o the_o spirit_n so_o it_o be_v very_o likely_a that_o the_o say_a spirit_n that_o rest_v upon_o this_o seem_n though_o think_v by_o himself_o true_a holiness_n be_v a_o soul_n altogether_o full_a of_o deadly_a poison_n and_o deceit_n which_o in_o time_n may_v be_v discover_v and_o then_o the_o creature_n shall_v see_v another_o rest_n more_o sure_a and_o safe_a than_o this_o and_o shall_v lose_v by_o it_o yet_o love_n shall_v save_v he_o though_o it_o be_v a_o fire_n for_o to_o burn_v up_o what_o of_o this_o rest_n be_v of_o himself_o so_o that_o i_o say_v such_o from_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n yet_o it_o be_v not_o the_o rest_n of_o a_o saint_n but_o the_o cause_n which_o be_v god_n the_o next_o part_n be_v the_o gift_n of_o utterance_n which_o be_v that_o many_o have_v that_o know_v not_o god_n and_o many_o have_v not_o which_o sweet_o enjoy_v he_o so_o that_o man_n who_o be_v free_o carry_v forth_o to_o utter_v or_o make_v know_v any_o thing_n he_o conceive_v be_v truth_n yet_o there_o be_v neither_o cause_n of_o trust_v to_o it_o or_o rest_a in_o it_o neither_o be_v there_o cause_n why_o a_o soul_n shall_v the_o more_o glory_n in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o it_o or_o be_v trouble_v in_o the_o want_n of_o it_o the_o last_o part_n or_o gift_n we_o shall_v speak_v of_o be_v memory_n this_o part_n of_o memory_n be_v that_o which_o do_v most_o sweet_o adorn_v man_n in_o the_o visible_a make_n of_o it_o forth_o and_o it_o make_v man_n much_o adore_v for_o it_o it_o be_v 1._o away_o to_o grow_v very_o profitable_a in_o respect_n of_o he_o that_o have_v it_o and_o beneficial_a to_o they_o for_o who_o he_o employ_v it_o as_o namely_o in_o that_o dispensation_n of_o hear_v after_o which_o the_o party_n which_o enjoy_v this_o part_n be_v able_a to_o repeat_v or_o declare_v almost_o verbatim_o what_o he_o have_v hear_v this_o make_v he_o very_o profitable_a in_o what_o he_o hear_v in_o respect_n of_o gather_a knowledge_n and_o benificiall_a to_o other_o from_o the_o improvement_n of_o the_o same_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o two_o minister_n so_o profess_v of_o themselves_o study_v their_o matter_n the_o one_o bring_v it_o in_o a_o piece_n of_o paper_n and_o the_o other_o in_o the_o same_o method_n or_o form_n though_o in_o his_o understanding_n because_o the_o one_o excel_v the_o otther_o in_o this_o part_n of_o memory_n and_o this_o make_v the_o one_o more_o esteem_v than_o the_o other_o and_o the_o one_o to_o appear_v more_o weak_a than_o the_o other_o but_o alas_o though_o all_o these_o be_v in_o one_o man_n in_o a_o high_a strain_n than_o i_o have_v declare_v yet_o they_o all_o be_v but_o a_o poor_a rest_n or_o cause_n of_o joy_n or_o contentment_n to_o any_o heart_n and_o true_o when_o god_n appear_v so_o as_o to_o manifest_v himself_o the_o soul_n shall_v see_v the_o weakness_n and_o foolly_a of_o his_o spirit_n to_o be_v satisfy_v in_o the_o whole_a not_o to_o be_v any_o cause_n of_o rest_n though_o they_o be_v dispensation_n of_o god_n and_o be_v free_o give_v by_o god_n for_o all_o these_o may_v be_v in_o a_o very_a hypocrite_n or_o in_o a_o mere_a natural_a man_n first_o of_o all_o to_o conclude_v this_o rest_n 1._o it_o be_v a_o abuse_n of_o a_o gift_n and_o a_o affornt_v put_v upon_o the_o giver_n to_o make_v it_o either_o cause_n of_o rest_n or_o a_o evidence_n of_o a_o true_a enjoyment_n of_o god_n 2._o that_o soul_n most_o common_o who_o be_v not_o lead_v in_o the_o spirit_n either_o to_o behold_v god_n or_o enjoy_v he_o to_o be_v the_o rest_v of_o spirit_n be_v most_o usual_a &_o it_o can_v hardly_o be_v prevent_v to_o rest_n upon_o such_o rest_v as_o we_o have_v declare_v but_o consider_v that_o must_v be_v the_o rest_n of_o any_o who_o see_v or_o enjoy_v not_o one_o manifest_v to_o he_o to_o be_v above_o it_o man_n must_v have_v some_o rest_n either_o true_a or_o false_a but_o that_o must_v be_v the_o safe_a rest_n the_o which_o no_o hypocrite_n do_v at_o tain_n nor_o can_v enjoy_v which_o be_v god_n manifest_v in_o the_o spirit_n further_o why_o shall_v any_o man_n place_n his_o rest_n upon_o any_o thing_n which_o will_v come_v to_o nothing_o or_o be_v give_v to_o change_v or_o why_o shall_v we_o make_v that_o the_o ground_n of_o our_o happiness_n which_o be_v but_o a_o talent_n give_v to_o be_v improve_v which_o may_v be_v take_v away_o at_o the_o owner_n pleasure_n be_v give_v only_o to_o be_v improve_v and_o then_o man_n rest_n and_o peace_n cease_v and_o in_o this_o particular_a do_v â—he_n folly_n of_o man_n heart_n appear_v in_o abuse_v the_o end_n of_o every_o dispensation_n as_o of_o this_o of_o part_n as._n first_o the_o abuse_n of_o part_n lie_v in_o the_o boast_n and_o glory_v in_o the_o gift_n and_o not_o in_o he_o that_o give_v it_o and_o also_o in_o this_o to_o make_v they_o his_o rest_n 2._o for_o a_o man_n so_o to_o glory_n in_o they_o as_o to_o make_v again_o of_o they_o &_o improve_v in_o they_o for_o to_o get_v honour_n and_o preferment_n and_o glory_n in_o the_o world_n this_o i_o fear_v be_v partly_o the_o end_n of_o simon_n magus_n in_o desire_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n alas_o all_o gift_n be_v empty_a without_o god_n be_v manifest_v in_o they_o and_o poor_a contentment_n do_v they_o afford_v to_o he_o that_o rest_v in_o they_o and_o here_o man_n be_v set_v they_o in_o god_n place_n and_o labour_v to_o dispossess_v god_n who_o be_v or_o aught_o to_o be_v the_o satisfaction_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o this_o be_v another_o abuse_n of_o part_n a_o world_n of_o deceit_n lie_v in_o man_n heart_n about_o gift_n or_o part_n if_o abuse_v first_o they_o will_v not_o make_v forth_o themselves_o unless_o it_o be_v where_o they_o be_v honour_v or_o else_o they_o labour_v for_o the_o same_o by_o the_o improvement_n of_o they_o be_v the_o most_o free_a where_o it_o be_v the_o most_o applaud_v and_o the_o most_o straighten_a and_o wary_a of_o that_o place_n where_o it_o be_v not_o adore_v and_o exalt_v and_o set_v up_o above_o the_o proper_a station_n of_o the_o creature_n be_v much_o cheer_v when_o exalt_v and_o much_o cast_v down_o when_o reject_v or_o at_o least_o not_o so_o applaud_v as_o he_o require_v or_o expect_v here_o be_v man_n much_o abuse_v part_n and_o set_v they_o in_o god_n stead_n in_o the_o which_o man_n shall_v be_v bring_v to_o a_o loss_n when_o god_n do_v â—â—â—ifest_v himself_o in_o that_o heart_n the_o four_o false_a rest_n the_o next_o rest_n in_o order_n to_o this_o be_v zeal_n for_o the_o truth_n zeal_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o god_n be_v that_o which_o the_o most_o go_v through_o before_o the_o manifestation_n of_o god_n yet_o though_o it_o be_v good_a in_o its_o place_n and_o a_o dispensation_n to_o be_v own_v yet_o it_o be_v but_o a_o deceitful_a rest_n we_o know_v the_o cry_n of_o he_o in_o the_o scripture_n who_o be_v rest_a and_o glory_v in_o his_o zeal_n for_o god_n when_o he_o cry_v come_v see_v my_o zeal_n for_o the_o lord_n of_o host_n so_o we_o know_v many_o man_n zeal_n go_v before_o their_o knowledge_n of_o god_n in_o the_o spirit_n we_o hear_v of_o a_o zealous_a saul_n who_o be_v mad_a of_o zeal_n in_o persecute_v the_o church_n act._n 22._o 3_o and_o
out_o of_o conceit_n he_o do_v god_n good_a service_n rest_v satisfy_v we_o know_v the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n who_o be_v the_o most_o zealous_a for_o sabbath_n and_o prayer_n and_o other_o point_n of_o worship_n yet_o they_o make_v it_o their_o rest_n but_o come_v to_o our_o day_n and_o see_v if_o we_o swarm_v not_o of_o the_o same_o only_o seem_v professor_n of_o god_n who_o be_v very_o zealous_a for_o the_o same_o thing_n and_o from_o their_o very_a zeal_n be_v make_v to_o rest_n with_o high_a thought_n of_o their_o condition_n but_o how_o far_o this_o zeal_n which_o be_v most_o common_o lead_v with_o more_o affection_n than_o judgement_n will_v bring_v man_n into_o a_o form_n of_o truth_n first_o it_o will_v lead_v man_n into_o a_o whole_a conformity_n to_o what_o it_o do_v conceive_v to_o be_v truth_n that_o it_o shall_v according_a to_o what_o it_o have_v serve_v god_n in_o all_o good_a conscience_n acts._n 23._o 1._o and_o according_a to_o the_o law_n to_o be_v unblamable_a and_o untaxable_a then_o his_o conversation_n shall_v be_v very_o strict_a in_o the_o observation_n of_o what_o the_o law_n require_v and_o he_o shall_v act_v the_o same_o with_o in_o this_o very_a particular_a three_o he_o may_v by_o zeal_n afflict_v his_o body_n sore_o 1._o cor._n 13._o 3._o with_o fast_v and_o mourn_v under_o pretence_n the_o one_o to_o honour_n and_o obey_v god_n the_o other_o for_o dishonour_n bring_v to_o god_n so_o as_o he_o may_v be_v almost_o spend_v in_o body_n and_o spirit_n and_o estate_n in_o prosecute_a the_o thing_n oâ—_n god_n according_a to_o his_o light_n far_o he_o may_v out_o oâ—_n zeal_n come_v to_o gospel_n precept_n and_o may_v be_v zealous_a for_o that_o light_n in_o external_a form_n which_o be_v there_o require_v to_o be_v obey_v so_o as_o he_o may_v gather_v church_n and_o may_v suffer_v much_o in_o the_o conform_v to_o and_o practise_v with_o so_o much_o vehemency_n the_o ordinance_n common_o practise_v by_o the_o church_n in_o the_o apostle_n and_o our_o day_n so_o as_o his_o zeal_n may_v lead_v he_o out_o to_o teach_v and_o help_v forward_o that_o work_n study_v night_n and_o day_n to_o find_v out_o matter_n to_o furnish_v himself_o for_o edification_n so_o as_o for_o pain_n in_o the_o church_n and_o for_o zeal_n to_o observe_v the_o severity_n of_o those_o form_n and_o any_o thing_n require_v to_o be_v practise_v in_o the_o say_a church_n so_o as_o now_o it_o will_v have_v communion_n in_o ordinance_n with_o none_o but_o those_o of_o his_o own_o stamp_n &_o judgement_n be_v mighty_o carry_v forth_o to_o judge_n and_o pity_v those_o who_o be_v opposer_n of_o that_o light_n now_o this_o soul_n through_o zeal_n may_v go_v thus_o far_o yea_o to_o act_v the_o very_o high_a thing_n the_o scripture_n do_v require_v in_o matter_n of_o visible_a practice_n and_o yet_o be_v not_o at_o all_o teach_v in_o the_o spirit_n neither_o get_v into_o the_o life_n and_o power_n of_o what_o he_o do_v profess_v but_o mere_o zealous_a for_o shadow_n and_o want_v the_o power_n so_o as_o he_o be_v command_v by_o the_o form_n and_o not_o the_o form_n by_o the_o power_n dwell_v within_o he_o now_o grant_v far_o that_o such_o a_o soul_n do_v act_n in_o truth_n according_a to_o this_o dispensation_n yet_o notwithstanding_o in_o this_o particular_a there_o be_v no_o cause_n of_o rest_n for_o nothing_o visible_o see_v flow_v from_o the_o creature_n aught_o to_o be_v its_o rest_n but_o some_o visible_a flow_n into_o the_o creature_n which_o be_v be_v and_o substance_n from_o which_o and_o unto_o which_o a_o soul_n through_o zeal_n for_o god_n act_n also_o a_o creature_n thus_o zealous_a rest_v not_o at_o home_n but_o reform_v abroad_o also_o beginning_n with_o his_o own_o family_n and_o so_o go_v abroad_o to_o other_o and_o labour_n for_o reformation_n and_o practice_n the_o same_o with_o much_o zeal_n so_o as_o he_o can_v not_o endure_v the_o visible_a appearance_n of_o any_o sin_n in_o himself_o or_o other_o he_o may_v help_v with_o much_o zeal_n the_o purge_n of_o city_n and_o nation_n or_o drunkenness_n or_o swear_v or_o any_o open_a prophanesse_n he_o may_v be_v for_o punish_v of_o evil_a doer_n in_o this_o particular_a with_o much_o severity_n and_o seem_v to_o be_v much_o trouble_v at_o the_o neglect_n of_o it_o he_o may_v rejoice_v much_o in_o this_o practice_n and_o may_v help_v forward_o this_o work_n in_o a_o nation_n very_o much_o and_o yet_o this_o no_o rest_n at_o all_o also_o he_o may_v be_v zealous_a yea_o mad_a of_o zeal_n for_o the_o worship_n of_o his_o god_n in_o reference_n unto_o other_o not_o only_o take_v all_o opportunity_n to_o inform_v they_o in_o the_o same_o but_o use_v all_o coercive_a power_n for_o confire_v they_o thereunto_o so_o as_o he_o may_v be_v a_o instrument_n to_o bring_v family_n and_o most_o part_n of_o city_n into_o this_o outward_a conformity_n to_o the_o matter_n of_o worship_n and_o here_o he_o look_v upon_o a_o action_n do_v of_o great_a moment_n and_o weight_n and_o partly_o make_v this_o a_o evidence_n of_o this_o true_a enjoyment_n of_o god_n by_o reason_n of_o his_o zeal_n for_o god_n and_o the_o effect_n thereby_o produce_v which_o be_v the_o good_a of_o many_o now_o the_o cause_n of_o a_o soul_n thus_o rest_a partly_o flow_v from_o want_n of_o the_o information_n in_o judgement_n of_o the_o great_a deceit_n of_o the_o heart_n in_o put_v man_n by_o zeal_n upon_o such_o public_a action_n and_o then_o to_o cause_v it_o to_o rest_n and_o further_o it_o conceive_v its_o zeal_n for_o god_n and_o from_o a_o principle_n of_o god_n not_o be_v acquaint_v with_o a_o pharisaical_a zeal_n to_o be_v see_v of_o man_n or_o to_o get_v a_o name_n among_o man_n or_o that_o zeal_n which_o man_n have_v but_o not_o according_a to_o knowledge_n or_o the_o zeal_n paul_n have_v before_o conversion_n which_o excel_v both_o for_o vehemency_n and_o downrightnesse_n be_v the_o zeal_n of_o many_o a_o professor_n who_o be_v at_o rest_n in_o our_o day_n now_o a_o poor_a creature_n because_o he_o be_v make_v to_o suffer_v free_o and_o to_o hazard_v life_n and_o liberty_n in_o the_o prosecution_n of_o this_o zeal_n he_o be_v much_o puff_v up_o under_o these_o consideration_n 1._o that_o now_o this_o be_v a_o suffering_n with_o and_o for_o christ_n and_o therefore_o he_o shall_v reign_v with_o he_o and_o enjoy_v much_o from_o he_o 2_o that_o this_o be_v a_o part_n with_o all_o for_o christ_n and_o a_o great_a point_n of_o self_n denial_n and_o so_o a_o evidence_n of_o a_o disciple_n of_o christ_n when_o indeed_o the_o soul_n be_v in_o himself_o and_o have_v not_o at_o all_o attain_v that_o estate_n to_o forsake_v himself_o therefore_o let_v every_o heart_n though_o never_o so_o zealous_a for_o god_n take_v notice_n that_o his_o heart_n may_v deceive_v he_o in_o his_o zeal_n and_o his_o affection_n may_v blind_v his_o judgement_n and_o so_o it_o prove_v blind_a zeal_n or_o second_o consider_v that_o though_o it_o be_v such_o zeal_n as_o be_v good_a and_o to_o be_v approve_v of_o in_o its_o dispensation_n yet_o not_o at_o all_o to_o be_v rest_v upon_o nor_o to_o be_v a_o evidence_n of_o any_o true_a enjoyment_n of_o god_n though_o he_o pretend_v god_n in_o the_o forefront_n as_o jehu_n do_v the_o five_o false_a rest._n the_o next_o rest_n of_o a_o soul_n though_o i_o may_v not_o have_v speak_v of_o it_o because_o i_o have_v partly_o give_v it_o forth_o yet_o that_o thing_n may_v be_v the_o more_o open_v its_o the_o creature_n righteousness_n or_o sanctification_n and_o outward_a holiness_n wherein_o both_o in_o carriage_n and_o word_n he_o do_v most_o sweet_o in_o probability_n savour_n of_o high_a enjoyment_n of_o god_n this_o be_v to_o be_v a_o testimony_n of_o the_o same_o to_o other_o though_o not_o to_o himself_o yet_o notwithstanding_o his_o rest_n be_v to_o he_o a_o high_a evidence_n of_o the_o true_a and_o real_a possessing_n of_o god_n when_o alas_o it_o be_v continual_o a_o vanish_v rest_n and_o evidence_n and_o when_o the_o creature_n stand_v in_o need_n of_o it_o it_o be_v take_v its_o wing_n and_o fly_v away_o and_o prove_v a_o miserable_a comforter_n in_o the_o sad_a strait_n of_o a_o soul_n but_o first_o let_v we_o consider_v that_o true_a holiness_n of_o a_o person_n make_v manifest_a in_o action_n flow_v from_o the_o justification_n of_o a_o soul_n make_v manifest_a in_o the_o spirit_n so_o that_o the_o true_a holiness_n or_o outward_a sanctification_n do_v whole_o flow_v as_o a_o effect_n of_o justification_n make_v manifest_a
and_o action_n he_o seem_v to_o be_v and_o that_o he_o do_v not_o pretend_v to_o live_v in_o god_n above_o all_o form_n when_o indeed_o he_o neither_o live_v in_o god_n nor_o know_v what_o it_o â—s_v to_o be_v lead_v by_o god_n out_o of_o the_o same_o into_o that_o which_o be_v true_o sweet_a if_o the_o soul_n be_v lead_v into_o that_o he_o pretend_v to_o enjoy_v the_o ten_o false_a rest._n the_o next_o rest_n which_o in_o order_n we_o shall_v speak_v of_o be_v a_o sutability_n to_o the_o external_a letter_n or_o some_o qualify_a frame_n wherein_o this_o creature_n take_v his_o joyful_a rest_n in_o the_o view_n thereof_o indeed_o when_o a_o man_n be_v wound_v yea_o deadly_a unless_o there_o be_v speedy_a help_n in_o this_o condition_n the_o creature_n will_v be_v willing_a to_o enjoy_v any_o chirurgeon_n for_o the_o cure_n thereof_o yea_o he_o that_o but_o pretend_v fair_a and_o by_o his_o skill_n do_v give_v some_o ease_n therein_o at_o present_a and_o hope_n for_o the_o future_a though_o this_o party_n do_v it_o but_o to_o serve_v his_o own_o end_n not_o from_o any_o principle_n of_o good_a to_o the_o party_n who_o be_v the_o patient_a yet_o he_o be_v ignorant_a of_o his_o fair_a pretence_n he_o heal_v up_o his_o wound_n though_o false_o and_o afterwards_o the_o wound_n break_v forth_o again_o to_o the_o great_a damage_n to_o the_o party_n thus_o it_o be_v with_o a_o poor_a distress_a wound_a helpless_a heart_n who_o it_o may_v be_v god_n be_v a_o prepare_v for_o mercy_n he_o lie_v in_o such_o a_o desperate_a condition_n will_v glad_o have_v his_o wound_n cuâ—ed_v by_o god_n but_o there_o come_v a_o pretend_a physician_n into_o the_o heart_n speak_v like_o god_n appear_v to_o the_o creature_n to_o be_v god_n and_o to_o heal_v in_o the_o same_o way_n god_n heal_v soul_n yet_o the_o soul_n be_v ignorant_a accept_v of_o it_o and_o free_o entertain_v it_o whereby_o it_o come_v to_o have_v a_o time_n of_o peace_n and_o rest_n only_o because_o he_o apprehend_v his_o desperate_a wound_n to_o be_v cure_v and_o thus_o soul_n do_v in_o a_o time_n of_o strait_n accept_v of_o those_o proffer_n when_o in_o another_o condition_n he_o will_v not_o but_o at_o present_a necessity_n put_v the_o soul_n upon_o it_o now_o soul_n that_o live_v under_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o want_n of_o god_n will_v in_o the_o sight_n thereof_o be_v in_o a_o way_n to_o attain_v god_n seek_v and_o press_v to_o know_v in_o this_o case_n what_o to_o do_v at_o last_o it_o look_v upon_o the_o scripture_n in_o this_o case_n to_o be_v the_o only_a teacher_n whereupon_o he_o give_v himselve_a to_o a_o diligent_a search_n of_o the_o same_o where_o he_o meet_v withal_o some_o place_n how_o the_o saint_n be_v former_o qualify_v and_o these_o preparation_n they_o â—ad_v within_o they_o whereupon_o he_o set_v a_o labour_a with_o his_o own_o heart_n to_o bring_v it_o into_o such_o a_o estate_n of_o mourning_n humiliation_n or_o repentance_n with_o hunger_a after_o god_n as_o also_o loathe_v sin_n and_o have_v a_o weariness_n and_o burden_n under_o it_o and_o when_o he_o have_v thus_o do_v he_o run_v to_o scripture_n and_o see_v his_o condition_n suitable_a to_o that_o he_o make_v scripture_n the_o ground_n of_o his_o faith_n and_o so_o cure_v his_o wound_n by_o it_o and_o so_o draw_v peace_n and_o comfort_n from_o it_o now_o the_o creature_n be_v ignorant_a of_o any_o other_o work_n he_o wrest_v from_o this_o scripture_n influence_n as_o be_v pretend_v and_o from_o thence_o conclude_v his_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n and_o that_o now_o from_o some_o persuasion_n of_o spirit_n conclude_v it_o to_o be_v the_o witness_n of_o the_o spirit_n when_o indeed_o the_o creature_n heart_n in_o this_o case_n be_v not_o upright_o and_o he_o be_v in_o darkness_n be_v not_o able_a otherwise_o to_o judge_v of_o himself_o or_o his_o condition_n neither_o of_o his_o heart_n which_o do_v tell_v he_o that_o this_o his_o sutability_n be_v upright_o but_o the_o foul_a want_v the_o manifestation_n of_o light_n he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o pass_v true_a sentence_n upon_o the_o same_o but_o rest_v and_o man_n make_v his_o habitation_n here_o and_o though_o he_o pretend_v to_o make_v scripture_n the_o ground_n of_o his_o thus_o believe_a yet_o it_o be_v his_o qualification_n and_o sutability_n to_o scripture_n which_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o his_o thus_o rest_n and_o believe_a or_o second_o that_o which_o in_o this_o case_n the_o soul_n be_v most_o establish_a in_o be_v when_o it_o may_v be_v a_o creature_n be_v in_o some_o sad_a condition_n a_o scripture_n be_v cast_v in_o immediate_o upon_o the_o soul_n un-sought-out_a or_o labour_v for_o and_o this_o suitable_a to_o the_o soul_n condition_n from_o which_o there_o be_v joy_n and_o peace_n yea_o sometime_o the_o heart_n be_v so_o ravish_v with_o it_o and_o so_o overcome_v by_o it_z as_o indeed_o it_o be_v hardly_o able_a to_o express_v its_o joy_n and_o peace_n yea_o sometime_o the_o heart_n be_v so_o overcome_v as_o it_o can_v express_v it_o or_o hardly_o know_v for_o the_o present_a where_o it_o be_v but_o here_o lie_v the_o angel-like_o design_n sometime_o of_o satan_n
