and_o make_v choice_n of_o it_o and_o not_o only_o the_o eye_n but_o also_o the_o taste_n discern_v the_o meat_n and_o the_o taste_n approve_v it_o that_o be_v call_v the_o first_o apprehension_n now_o upon_o this_o which_o be_v the_o first_o the_o second_o apprehension_n follow_v that_o be_v after_o that_o you_o have_v chew_v that_o meat_n swallow_v it_o &_o send_v it_o to_o your_o stomach_n where_o it_o dige_v and_o convert_v into_o your_o nouriture_n then_o in_o your_o stomach_n you_o get_v the_o second_o apprehension_n but_o if_o your_o eye_n like_v not_o that_o meat_n neither_o your_o taste_n like_o it_o the_o second_o apprehension_n follow_v not_o for_o thou_o will_v spit_v it_o out_o again_o or_o reject_v it_o prefer_v some_o other_o meat_n unto_o it_o that_o thou_o like_v better_a that_o meat_n which_o thou_o like_v not_o enters_z never_o into_o thy_o stomach_n and_o so_o it_o can_v never_o be_v convert_v into_o thy_o nourishment_n for_o it_o be_v only_o the_o second_o apprehension_n of_o the_o meat_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o nourishment_n of_o the_o body_n in_o our_o corporal_a food_n so_o that_o if_o you_o chew_v not_o this_o meat_n and_o swallow_v it_o it_o feed_v you_o not_o than_o it_o be_v only_o the_o second_o apprehension_n that_o nourish_v our_o body_n it_o be_v even_o so_o in_o spiritual_a thing_n so_o far_o as_o they_o may_v be_v compare_v in_o the_o food_n of_o christ_n jesus_n who_o be_v the_o life_n and_o nouriture_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o conscience_n there_o must_v be_v two_o sort_n of_o apprehension_n of_o christ_n jesus_n the_o first_o apprehension_n be_v by_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o mind_n that_o be_v by_o our_o knowledge_n &_o understanding_n for_o as_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o body_n discern_v by_o a_o outward_a light_n so_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o mind_n discern_v by_o a_o
inward_a and_o renew_v understanding_n whereby_o we_o get_v the_o first_o apprehension_n of_o christ_n now_o if_o this_o first_o apprehension_n of_o christ_n like_o we_o well_o than_o the_o next_o follow_v we_o begin_v to_o cast_v the_o affection_n of_o our_o heart_n on_o he_o we_o have_v good_a will_n to_o he_o for_o all_o our_o affection_n proceed_v from_o our_o will_n and_o our_o affection_n be_v renew_v and_o make_v holy_a we_o set_v they_o whole_o upon_o christ_n we_o love_v he_o and_o if_o we_o love_v he_o we_o take_v hold_v on_o he_o we_o eat_v he_o and_o digest_v he_o that_o be_v we_o apply_v he_o to_o our_o soul_n and_o so_o of_o this_o love_n and_o like_v of_o he_o the_o second_o apprehension_n do_v follow_v but_o if_o we_o have_v no_o will_n to_o he_o if_o we_o have_v no_o love_n nor_o like_v of_o he_o what_o do_v we_o then_o we_o reject_v he_o and_o prefer_v our_o own_o idol_n and_o the_o service_n of_o our_o own_o affection_n to_o he_o and_o so_o the_o second_o apprehension_n follow_v not_o we_o can_v digest_v he_o and_o if_o we_o digest_v he_o not_o that_o spiritual_a life_n can_v grow_v in_o we_o for_o mark_n in_o what_o place_n the_o eye_n serve_v to_o the_o body_n in_o the_o same_o room_n serve_v knowledge_n and_o understand_v to_o thy_o soul_n and_o look_v in_o what_o place_n thy_o hand_n and_o thy_o mouth_n thy_o taste_n and_o thy_o stomach_n serve_v unto_o thy_o body_n in_o that_o very_a place_n serve_v the_o hart_n and_o affection_n to_o thy_o soul_n so_o that_o as_o our_o body_n can_v be_v nourish_v except_o our_o hand_n take_v and_o our_o mouth_n eat_v the_o meat_n whereby_o the_o second_o apprehension_n may_v follow_v likewise_o our_o soul_n can_v feed_v on_o christ_n except_o we_o hold_v he_o and_o embrace_v he_o hearty_o by_o our_o will_n and_o affection_n for_o we_o come_v not_o to_o christ_n by_o any_o outward_a motion_n of_o our_o body_n but_o by_o a_o inward_a motion_n and_o apprehension_n of_o the_o hart_n for_o god_n find_v we_o all_o in_o a_o reprobate_a sense_n he_o bring_v we_o to_o christ_n by_o reform_v the_o affection_n of_o our_o soul_n by_o make_v we_o to_o love_v he_o and_o therefore_o the_o second_o apprehension_n whereby_o we_o digest_v our_o saviour_n will_v never_o enter_v into_o our_o soul_n except_o as_o he_o please_v the_o eye_n so_o he_o please_v the_o will_n and_o the_o affection_n also_o now_o if_o this_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o our_o will_n &_o affection_n be_v whole_o bend_v upon_o christ_n then_o no_o doubt_n we_o have_v get_v this_o jewel_n of_o faith_n have_v you_o such_o a_o like_n in_o your_o mind_n and_o such_o a_o love_n in_o your_o heart_n of_o christ_n that_o you_o will_v prefer_v he_o before_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n then_o no_o question_n faith_n be_v begin_v in_o you_o now_o us._n how_o faith_n be_v nourish_v and_o entertain_v in_o us._n after_o a_o thing_n be_v begin_v there_o be_v yet_o more_o require_v for_o though_o this_o faith_n be_v form_v in_o your_o mind_n in_o your_o heart_n and_o soul_n yet_o that_o be_v not_o enough_o but_o that_o which_o be_v form_v must_v be_v nourish_v and_o he_o who_o be_v conceive_v must_v be_v entertain_v and_o bring_v up_o or_o else_o the_o love_n that_o be_v begin_v in_o i_o by_o the_o holy_a spirit_n except_o by_o ordinary_a mean_n it_o be_v daily_o entertain_v and_o nourish_v it_o will_v decay_v except_o the_o lord_n continue_v the_o work_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o i_o can_v continue_v in_o the_o faith_n and_o how_o must_v we_o nourish_v and_o continue_v faith_n in_o our_o soul_n two_o manner_n of_o way_n first_o we_o nourish_v faith_n begin_v in_o our_o soul_n by_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n not_o of_o every_o word_n but_o by_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n preach_v and_o not_o by_o hear_v of_o every_o man_n but_o by_o hear_v the_o word_n preach_v by_o he_o that_o be_v send_v for_o this_o be_v the_o ordinary_a mean_n whereunto_o the_o lord_n have_v bind_v himself_o he_o will_v work_v faith_n by_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n and_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o the_o more_o that_o thou_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o the_o word_n and_o sacrament_n be_v say_v to_o nourish_v our_o soul_n as_o it_o be_v say_v act_v 2.42_o the_o disciple_n of_o christ_n continue_v in_o the_o apostle_n doctrine_n and_o fellowship_n and_o the_o same_o mean_n it_o be_v nourish_v and_o entertain_v as_o this_o temporal_a life_n be_v entertain_v and_o nourish_v by_o the_o same_o mean_n whereby_o it_o be_v begin_v then_o see_v by_o these_o mean_n exhortation_n conclusion_n with_o a_o exhortation_n the_o holy_a spirit_n beget_v this_o work_n of_o faith_n in_o our_o soul_n it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o crave_v that_o he_o will_v continue_v the_o work_n which_o he_o have_v begin_v and_o for_o this_o cause_n we_o shall_v resort_v to_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n when_o it_o be_v preach_v and_o to_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o heavenly_a food_n in_o this_o country_n that_o where_o man_n in_o the_o beginning_n will_v have_v go_v some_o twenty_o mile_n some_o forty_o mile_n to_o the_o hear_n of_o this_o word_n they_o will_v scarce_o now_o come_v from_o their_o house_n to_o the_o church_n and_o remain_v there_o but_o one_o hour_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n but_o rather_o abide_v at_o home_n well_o i_o say_v too_o much_o wealth_n withdraws_a their_o heart_n and_o the_o abundance_n of_o this_o word_n engender_v such_o a_o loathsomnesse_n that_o it_o be_v a_o rare_a thing_n to_o find_v out_o any_o that_o have_v that_o thirst_n and_o desire_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n as_o they_o be_v wont_a to_o have_v in_o the_o beginning_n and_o for_o those_o that_o be_v in_o high_a place_n they_o will_v hear_v it_o seldom_o or_o not_o at_o all_o for_o they_o can_v endure_v to_o hear_v the_o thing_n that_o accuse_v they_o and_o convict_v they_o and_o therefore_o they_o avoid_v it_o but_o they_o shall_v not_o do_v so_o they_o say_v whether_o you_o be_v in_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n or_o not_o for_o be_v in_o the_o faith_n and_o justify_v thereby_o on_o necessity_n you_o must_v have_v peace_n with_o god_n then_o the_o next_o care_n must_v be_v to_o try_v your_o faith_n and_o to_o see_v whether_o you_o have_v faith_n or_o not_o faith_n can_v no_o way_n be_v try_v but_o by_o the_o fruit_n faith_n can_v be_v judge_v on_o by_o i_o that_o look_v upon_o it_o only_o but_o by_o the_o effect_n therefore_o to_o try_v whether_o you_o be_v in_o the_o faith_n or_o not_o mark_v the_o fruit_n take_v heed_n to_o thy_o mouth_n take_v heed_n to_o thy_o hand_n take_v heed_n to_o thy_o word_n and_o to_o thy_o deed_n for_o except_o thou_o glorify_v god_n in_o thy_o mouth_n and_o confess_v to_o thy_o salvation_n &_o except_o thou_o glorify_v he_o also_o in_o thy_o deed_n &_o make_v thy_o holy_a life_n a_o witness_n of_o thy_o holy_a faith_n all_o be_v but_o vain_a all_o be_v but_o mere_a hypocrisy_n know_v how_o a_o sincere_a faith_n be_v know_v therefore_o to_o know_v the_o sincerity_n of_o thy_o faith_n thou_o must_v take_v heed_n that_o there_o be_v a_o harmony_n between_o thy_o hand_n thy_o mouth_n and_o creat_v faith_n &_o work_v faith_n in_o your_o soul_n heart_n and_o mind_n i_o begin_v to_o show_v you_o what_o order_n the_o holy_a spirit_n keep_v in_o form_v and_o in_o create_v this_o notable_a instrument_n in_o your_o heart_n and_o mind_n not_o only_o how_o he_o engender_v and_o begin_v faith_n but_o also_o how_o he_o entertain_v it_o how_o he_o nourish_v it_o and_o i_o show_v you_o the_o external_a mean_n and_o instrument_n which_o he_o use_v to_o this_o effect_n to_o beget_v faith_n in_o our_o soul_n the_o holy_a spirit_n use_v the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n preach_v by_o he_o that_o be_v send_v &_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o sacrament_n as_o ordinary_a mean_n and_o instrument_n which_o ordinary_a mean_n be_v only_o then_o effectual_a when_o as_o the_o holy_a spirit_n concur_v inward_o in_o our_o heart_n with_o the_o word_n strike_v outward_o in_o our_o ear_n and_o with_o the_o sacrament_n outward_o receive_v and_o except_o the_o holy_a spirit_n grant_v his_o concurrence_n to_o the_o word_n and_o sacrament_n word_n and_o sacrament_n both_o will_v not_o work_v faith_n so_o all_o depend_v upon_o the_o work_n of_o this_o holy_a spirit_n the_o whole_a regeneration_n of_o mankind_n the_o renew_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o of_o the_o conscience_n depend_v on_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n and_o therefore_o it_o behove_v we_o careful_o to_o employ_v ourselves_o in_o call_v upon_o god_n for_o his_o holy_a spirit_n by_o the_o same_o mean_n and_o no_o other_o that_o the_o holy_a spirit_n beget_v faith_n in_o we_o by_o the_o same_o mean_n he_o nourish_v and_o augment_v that_o which_o he_o have_v beget_v and_o therefore_o as_o we_o get_v faith_n by_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n so_o by_o continual_a and_o diligent_a hear_n we_o have_v this_o faith_n augment_v &_o nourish_v in_o us._n and_o from_o hence_o i_o take_v my_o exhortation_n that_o if_o you_o will_v have_v that_o spiritual_a life_n nourish_v in_o you_o and_o if_o you_o will_v have_v a_o his_o mercy_n examine_v i_o say_v whether_o this_o darkness_n of_o the_o natural_a understanding_n be_v turn_v into_o light_n by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n or_o not_o if_o thou_o be_v become_v a_o child_n of_o the_o light_n a_o child_n of_o the_o day_n if_o thou_o be_v become_v as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v light_a in_o the_o lord_n if_o there_o be_v this_o alteration_n make_v in_o thy_o mind_n that_o whereas_o natural_o before_o it_o be_v close_v up_o in_o darkness_n whereas_o it_o be_v fill_v with_o vanity_n and_o error_n wheren_n it_o be_v close_v up_o in_o blindness_n if_o the_o lord_n have_v at_o any_o time_n enlighten_v the_o eye_n of_o thy_o mind_n and_o make_v thou_o to_o see_v thy_o own_o misery_n to_o see_v the_o ugliness_n of_o thy_o own_o nature_n to_o see_v the_o heinous_a sin_n in_o the_o which_o by_o nature_n thou_o lie_v if_o he_o have_v grant_v to_o thou_o a_o insight_n of_o thyself_o in_o some_o measure_n and_o on_o the_o other_o side_n if_o he_o have_v grant_v thou_o the_o remedy_n and_o have_v give_v thou_o a_o insight_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n jesus_n if_o thou_o have_v obtain_v a_o insight_n of_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n in_o christ_n no_o doubt_n the_o holy_a spirit_n have_v begin_v a_o good_a work_n work_n in_o thou_o a_o work_n which_o will_v bring_v forth_o repentance_n which_o in_o his_o own_o time_n he_o will_v perfect_v so_o this_o be_v the_o first_o care_n which_o you_o ought_v to_o have_v and_o the_o first_o point_n wherein_o you_o ought_v to_o examine_v your_o mind_n to_o see_v if_o there_o be_v heart_n or_o not_o and_o that_o you_o may_v perceive_v the_o work_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n the_o better_a in_o

from_o whence_o flow_v this_o doubt_v we_o know_v that_o in_o the_o regenerate_a man_n there_o be_v a_o remnant_n corruption_n for_o we_o have_v not_o our_o heaven_n in_o this_o earth_n though_o we_o begin_v our_o heaven_n here_o yet_o we_o get_v it_o not_o full_o here_o and_o if_o all_o corruption_n be_v away_o what_o shall_v there_o want_n of_o a_o full_a heaven_n here_o so_o it_o be_v only_o begin_v in_o this_o life_n and_o not_o perfect_v therefore_o there_o remain_v in_o the_o soul_n a_o great_a corruption_n which_o be_v never_o idle_a but_o continual_o occupy_v this_o corruption_n be_v of_o god_n nor_o feel_v god_n in_o christ_n without_o faith_n faith_n be_v the_o only_a thing_n that_o translate_v our_o soul_n out_o of_o that_o death_n and_o damnation_n wherein_o we_o be_v conceive_v and_o bear_v and_o plant_v life_n in_o us._n so_o the_o whole_a study_n and_o endeavour_n of_o a_o christian_a shall_v tend_v to_o this_o to_o crave_v that_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o mercy_n will_v illuminate_v his_o mind_n with_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n and_o that_o he_o will_v kindle_v in_o his_o heart_n a_o love_n of_o faith_n and_o work_n in_o his_o hart_n a_o thirst_n and_o desire_v of_o the_o object_n of_o faith_n &_o more_o and_o more_o to_o thirst_v and_o hunger_n for_o the_o food_n of_o faith_n that_o nourish_v we_o to_o life_n eternal_a without_o this_o faith_n how-soev_a the_o natural_a man_n understand_v natural_o will_v flatter_v himself_o sure_o there_o be_v no_o blessedness_n but_o all_o his_o life_n be_v more_o than_o terrible_a misery_n for_o whatsoever_o it_o be_v that_o flatter_v and_o please_v thou_o now_o be_v it_o a_o thought_n or_o motion_n of_o the_o mind_n or_o a_o action_n of_o the_o body_n that_o please_v thou_o now_o without_o faith_n the_o great_a man_n have_v advise_v well_o with_o their_o conscience_n such_o dissolution_n have_v not_o fall_v out_o in_o their_o own_o house_n such_o oppression_n of_o the_o poor_a deadly_a feude_n with_o man_n of_o their_o own_o rank_n will_v not_o have_v burst_v forth_o in_o so_o high_a a_o measure_n but_o the_o lord_n see_v they_o take_v so_o little_a care_n unto_o their_o conscience_n deprive_v they_o of_o faith_n and_o of_o the_o hope_n of_o mercy_n and_o their_o end_n will_v be_v miserable_a you_o shall_v see_v that_o the_o god_n of_o heaven_n will_v make_v those_o who_o live_v so_o dissolute_o spectacle_n of_o his_o judgement_n unto_o the_o world_n for_o the_o lord_n leave_v not_o such_o man_n unpunished_a by_o their_o example_n it_o be_v very_o necessary_a that_o man_n of_o they_o lie_v justice_n cease_v not_o likewise_o the_o merchant_n let_v not_o they_o look_v so_o much_o to_o this_o or_o that_o as_o to_o the_o conscience_n that_o be_v in_o they_o what_o in_o conscience_n they_o may_v do_v according_a unto_o the_o measure_n of_o knowledge_n that_o god_n have_v place_v in_o they_o and_o whatsoever_o they_o do_v let_v they_o beware_v that_o they_o do_v not_o against_o their_o knowledge_n i_o grant_v their_o knowledge_n will_v not_o be_v so_o learned_a as_o it_o shall_v be_v and_o this_o make_v many_o deform_a action_n yet_o let_v no_o man_n do_v against_o his_o knowledge_n but_o let_v every_o man_n do_v according_a unto_o the_o measure_n of_o knowledge_n wherewith_o god_n have_v endue_v he_o and_o though_o it_o be_v not_o well_o reform_v yet_o do_v crave_v mercy_n for_o thy_o sin_n to_o call_v upon_o god_n holy_a name_n for_o mercy_n and_o grace_n if_o there_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n in_o thy_o hart_n as_o a_o desire_n to_o pray_v if_o thy_o hart_n be_v incline_v and_o have_v a_o thirst_n to_o seek_v after_o mercy_n and_o grace_n though_o the_o great_a part_n of_o thy_o hart_n repine_v &_o will_v draw_v thou_o from_o prayer_n yet_o assure_o that_o desire_n that_o thou_o have_v in_o any_o measure_n to_o prayer_n be_v the_o true_a effect_n of_o the_o right_a faith_n if_o thou_o have_v a_o hart_n to_o pray_v to_o god_n though_o this_o desire_n be_v but_o slender_a assure_v thyself_o thy_o soul_n have_v life_n for_o prayer_n be_v the_o life_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o make_v thy_o faith_n livelie_a and_o why_o prayer_n be_v god_n own_o gift_n it_o be_v no_o gift_n of_o we_o for_o if_o it_o be_v we_o it_o will_v be_v evil_a but_o it_o be_v the_o best_a gift_n that_o ever_o god_n give_v man_n and_o so_o it_o must_v be_v the_o gift_n of_o his_o own_o holy_a spirit_n and_o be_v his_o own_o gift_n it_o must_v make_v our_o faith_n lively_a without_o this_o thou_o be_v not_o able_a nor_o thou_o dare_v not_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o who_o thou_o believe_v not_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v rom._n 10.14_o for_o if_o i_o entreat_v he_o by_o prayer_n i_o must_v trust_v in_o he_o then_o prayer_n be_v a_o certain_a argument_n of_o justify_v faith_n and_o belief_n in_o god_n for_o i_o can_v speak_v to_o he_o much_o less_o pray_v to_o he_o in_o who_o i_o trust_v not_o and_o though_o the_o hart_n be_v not_o full_o resolve_v and_o well_o dispose_v yet_o if_o there_o be_v any_o part_n of_o the_o heart_n that_o incline_v to_o prayer_n it_o be_v a_o sure_a gage_n that_o that_o part_n believe_v the_o second_o effect_n whereby_o thou_o shall_v know_v whether_o faith_n be_v in_o thou_o or_o not_o be_v this_o observe_v &_o advise_v with_o thyself_o if_o thy_o hart_n can_v be_v content_a to_o renounce_v thy_o rancour_n to_o forgive_v thy_o grudge_n and_o that_o free_o for_o god_n cause_n can_v thou_o do_v this_o and_o will_v thou_o forgive_v thy_o neighbour_n as_o free_o as_o god_n have_v forgive_v thou_o assure_o this_o be_v a_o effect_n of_o the_o right_a spirit_n for_o nature_n can_v never_o give_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o whereunto_o nature_n bend_v itself_o more_o then_o to_o rancour_n and_o envy_n and_o there_o be_v nothing_o wherein_o nature_n place_v her_o honour_n more_o greedy_o then_o in_o privy_a revenge_n now_o if_o thy_o heart_n be_v so_o tame_v and_o bring_v down_o that_o it_o will_v hell_n the_o three_o effect_n of_o faith_n be_v compassion_n thou_o must_v bow_v thy_o hart_n &_o extend_v thy_o pity_n unto_o the_o poor_a member_n of_o christ_n his_o body_n and_o suffer_v they_o not_o to_o want_v if_o thou_o have_v for_o except_o you_o have_v this_o compassion_n you_o have_v no_o faith_n examine_v yourselves_o by_o these_o three_o effect_n and_o if_o you_o find_v these_o in_o any_o measure_n though_o never_o so_o small_a you_o have_v the_o right_a faith_n in_o your_o heart_n the_o faith_n that_o you_o have_v be_v true_a and_o lively_a and_o assure_o god_n will_v be_v merciful_a unto_o you_o this_o faith_n of_o we_o doubt_v our_o faith_n must_v be_v continual_o nourish_v because_o it_o be_v join_v with_o doubt_v though_o it_o be_v lively_a yet_o it_o be_v not_o perfect_a in_o this_o world_n but_o every_o day_n &_o every_o hour_n it_o need_v a_o continual_a augmentation_n it_o crave_v ever_o to_o be_v nourish_v for_o the_o which_o increase_n the_o apostle_n judgement_n to_o the_o very_a brink_n of_o desperation_n these_o doubt_n &_o stammering_n let_v we_o we_o see_v that_o this_o faith_n of_o we_o will_v be_v perpetual_o nourish_v and_o that_o we_o have_v need_v continual_o to_o pray_v for_o the_o increase_n of_o it_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n at_o sometime_o to_o let_v his_o servant_n have_v a_o sight_n of_o themselves_o to_o cast_v they_o down_o and_o to_o let_v they_o see_v how_o ugly_a sin_n be_v it_o please_v he_o to_o let_v they_o fall_v into_o the_o bitterness_n of_o sin_n and_o to_o what_o end_n not_o that_o he_o will_v devour_v they_o and_o suffer_v they_o to_o be_v swallow_v up_o of_o destruction_n though_o hezekiah_n cry_v out_o that_o like_o a_o hungry_a lion_n the_o lord_n be_v like_a to_o devour_v he_o and_o bruise_v he_o in_o pcece_n yet_o the_o lord_n suffer_v he_o not_o to_o despair_v and_o though_o david_n cry_v i_o can_v away_o with_o this_o consume_a fire_n i_o can_v endure_v the_o fire_n of_o the_o lord_n jealousy_n yet_o he_o despair_v not_o but_o the_o lord_n cast_v his_o servant_n very_o low_o to_o what_o end_n to_o the_o end_n that_o they_o may_v feel_v in_o their_o heart_n &_o conscience_n what_o christ_n suffer_v for_o they_o on_o the_o cross_n in_o soul_n and_o body_n yea_o we_o will_v think_v that_o there_o have_v be_v plain_a collusion_n betwixt_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n &_o that_o his_o suffering_n have_v be_v no_o suffering_n except_o we_o feel_v in_o our_o soul_n in_o some_o measure_n the_o hell_n which_o he_o sustain_v in_o full_a measure_n so_o to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v clear_o understand_v the_o bitterness_n of_o sin_n that_o we_o may_v know_v how_o far_o we_o be_v indebt_v to_o christ_n who_o suffer_v such_o torment_n for_o our_o sin_n and_o that_o we_o may_v be_v the_o more_o able_a to_o thank_v he_o and_o to_o praise_v his_o holy_a name_n he_o suffer_v his_o own_o servant_n to_o doubt_v but_o not_o to_o despair_v he_o forgive_v their_o doubt_n he_o forgive_v their_o stammering_n and_o in_o his_o own_o time_n he_o support_v they_o &_o bring_v we_o unto_o the_o water_n of_o life_n these_o doubt_n soul_n doubt_v and_o faith_n may_v lodge_v in_o one_o soul_n as_o i_o have_v often_o say_v may_v lodge_v in_o one_o soul_n with_o faith_n for_o doubt_v and_o faith_n be_v not_o direct_o opposite_a only_a faith_n and_o despair_n be_v opposite_a and_o therefore_o faith_n and_o despair_n can_v both_o lodge_n in_o one_o soul_n for_o despair_n overthrow_v the_o pillar_n of_o hope_n and_o where_o there_o be_v no_o hope_n there_o can_v be_v no_o faith_n but_o as_o for_o doubt_v it_o may_v lodge_v it_o will_v lodge_v and_o have_v lodge_v in_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o best_a servant_n that_o
