the_o church_n of_o rome_n be_v the_o only_a catholic_a church_n second_o that_o the_o church_n can_v err_v by_o which_o latter_a principle_n they_o have_v bring_v on_o themselves_o a_o desperate_a necessity_n never_o to_o amend_v or_o reform_v whatsoever_o be_v once_o decide_v by_o the_o church_n these_o be_v the_o principle_n they_o first_o instill_v into_o their_o novice_n these_o be_v the_o train_n wherewith_o they_o seek_v to_o win_v man_n to_o themselves_o for_o when_o they_o can_v prove_v their_o point_n in_o special_a and_o particular_a they_o take_v they_o all_o in_o gross_a and_o by_o this_o one_o principle_n our_o church_n which_o can_v err_v have_v so_o decide_v it_o they_o prove_v a_o bundle_n of_o they_o altogether_o so_o when_o they_o can_v show_v no_o ground_n in_o scripture_n for_o their_o cloud_a ungrounded_a superadded_a opinion_n they_o fasten_v they_o and_o hang_v they_o all_o upon_o this_o pinnacle_n of_o the_o church_n which_o because_o it_o be_v infallible_a admit_v of_o no_o examination_n and_o whereas_o truth_n seek_v out_o no_o corner_n desire_n to_o see_v the_o light_n and_o come_v to_o trial_n popery_n delight_v to_o hide_v itself_o in_o these_o obscure_a and_o uncertain_a generality_n as_o for_o example_n ask_v they_o what_o ground_n they_o have_v for_o invocation_n of_o saint_n worship_v of_o image_n indulgence_n superadded_a sacrament_n and_o a_o multitude_n of_o superstitious_a ceremony_n their_o answer_n be_v the_o church_n have_v so_o decide_v and_o her_o decree_n be_v all_o infallible_a and_o not_o to_o be_v examine_v by_o particular_a man_n which_o be_v inferior_a so_o that_o pull_v but_o this_o pillar_n down_o as_o samson_n do_v and_o the_o whole_a frame_n of_o popery_n with_o all_o that_o stay_v themselves_o upon_o it_o come_v present_o tumble_v down_o yet_o because_o they_o think_v it_o too_o improbable_a a_o course_n to_o build_v all_o on_o the_o naked_a assertion_n of_o the_o church_n which_o be_v only_o to_o interpret_v and_o not_o to_o make_v the_o text_n therefore_o they_o bring_v in_o tradition_n which_o they_o call_v unwritten_a verity_n and_o make_v they_o of_o equal_a value_n and_o credit_n with_o the_o text_n but_o if_o you_o ask_v they_o what_o these_o unwritten_a verity_n be_v and_o how_o they_o may_v be_v know_v from_o counterfeit_n they_o say_v only_o the_o church_n can_v tell_v that_o to_o who_o custody_n they_o be_v commit_v and_o who_o only_o be_v able_a to_o judge_v infallible_o which_o be_v the_o genuine_a tradition_n and_o which_o not_o and_o if_o scripture_n at_o any_o time_n be_v bring_v against_o any_o of_o these_o point_n they_o say_v it_o belong_v to_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n to_o declare_v what_o book_n of_o scripture_n be_v canonical_a what_o translation_n be_v authentical_a what_o interpretation_n must_v be_v the_o sense_n of_o scripture_n and_o in_o effect_n they_o will_v be_v only_o judge_v by_o themselves_o and_o whatsoever_o we_o say_v they_o choke_v we_o with_o these_o principle_n they_o be_v the_o only_a church_n and_o the_o church_n can_v never_o err_v now_o of_o all_o place_n of_o scripture_n whereby_o they_o will_v vindicate_v to_o themselves_o this_o privilege_n this_o verse_n that_o i_o have_v read_v be_v one_o of_o the_o chief_a but_o how_o just_o we_o be_v now_o to_o consider_v say_v the_o apostle_n to_o timothy_n i_o have_v write_v unto_o thou_o that_o thou_o may_v know_v how_o to_o behave_v thyself_o in_o the_o house_n of_o god_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v it_o be_v of_o much_o moment_n that_o nourish_v but_o corrupt_a not_o fit_v they_o to_o salvation_n but_o destruction_n so_o that_o the_o apostle_n in_o this_o verse_n have_v this_o double_a scope_n first_o to_o describe_v the_o church_n by_o this_o distinguish_a property_n that_o it_o be_v the_o pillar_n and_o ground_n of_o truth_n that_o be_v truth_n be_v the_o sign_n whereby_o this_o house_n of_o god_n be_v know_v from_o other_o house_n second_o he_o say_v in_o the_o house_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n not_o in_o the_o church_n of_o ephesus_n lest_o any_o shall_v conclude_v as_o now_o the_o papist_n will_v that_o the_o truth_n be_v so_o nail_v and_o fasten_v to_o any_o one_o particular_a house_n or_o pillar_n that_o it_o can_v never_o be_v take_v down_o from_o thence_o and_o hang_v up_o in_o another_o place_n which_o be_v flat_a contrary_n to_o the_o scope_n of_o the_o apostle_n in_o this_o place_n who_o in_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o next_o chapter_n show_v evident_o that_o in_o the_o late_a time_n some_o shall_v depart_v from_o the_o faith_n and_o give_v heed_n to_o seduce_a spirit_n and_o doctrine_n of_o devil_n forbid_v to_o marry_v and_o command_v to_o abstain_v from_o meat_n the_o papist_n will_v make_v we_o believe_v that_o because_o the_o truth_n be_v once_o at_o rome_n it_o be_v there_o still_o indeed_o the_o house_n and_o place_n where_o once_o it_o be_v they_o

what_o they_o be_v and_o that_o liberty_n which_o they_o do_v enjoy_v and_o so_o man_n be_v discourage_v from_o go_v to_o god_n they_o turn_v and_o rest_n on_o something_o else_o for_o the_o heart_n will_v have_v some_o liberty_n again_o when_o we_o come_v to_o the_o lord_n satan_n he_o cast_v in_o all_o these_o fear_n he_o muster_v up_o all_o objection_n but_o the_o spirit_n you_o see_v say_v do_v not_o fear_v now_o whether_o will_v you_o take_v part_n with_o satan_n or_o the_o spirit_n if_o man_n be_v humble_a christ_n say_v likewise_o come_v to_o i_o and_o you_o shall_v have_v ease_n of_o sin_n come_v in_o see_v this_o also_o in_o asa_n his_o make_v a_o covenant_n with_o the_o king_n of_o aram_n and_o rest_v 16._o on_o he_o at_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o chapter_n but_o now_o if_o he_o have_v humble_v himself_o all_o the_o rest_n that_o follow_v have_v be_v prevent_v but_o he_o do_v not_o so_o and_o then_o follow_v put_v the_o prophet_n in_o prison_n oppress_v the_o people_n when_o he_o be_v sick_a seek_v to_o the_o physician_n for_o he_o grow_v worse_a and_o worse_o his_o end_n be_v not_o answerable_a to_o his_o beginning_n though_o he_o be_v a_o good_a man_n and_o peter_n now_o on_o the_o other_o side_n because_o he_o humble_v himself_o he_o present_o be_v receive_v to_o mercy_n and_o prevent_v all_o the_o long_a you_o lie_v in_o a_o sin_n unrepented_a the_o
