and_o degenerate_a time_n even_o after_o christ_n first_o come_v and_o so_o that_o be_v express_o foretell_v which_o the_o text_n evident_o suppose_v for_o here_o will_v be_v glorious_a pretence_n to_o deceive_v violence_n to_o compel_v and_o wicked_a example_n to_o offend_v the_o disciple_n of_o christ_n and_o what_o provision_n have_v our_o lord_n leave_v to_o secure_v they_o from_o be_v mislead_v where_o there_o be_v so_o much_o danger_n they_o be_v to_o attend_v to_o the_o doctrine_n which_o he_o deliver_v we_o at_o first_o by_o his_o holy_a apostle_n to_o secure_v themselves_o from_o be_v deceive_v they_o must_v lay_v to_o heart_n the_o promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o arm_v themselves_o against_o the_o temptation_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o power_n of_o evil_a example_n and_o they_o be_v to_o consider_v that_o all_o these_o thing_n be_v foretell_v by_o our_o lord_n himself_o and_o his_o apostle_n that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v scandalize_v when_o they_o shall_v happen_v nor_o be_v tempt_v to_o suspect_v that_o either_o christianity_n be_v not_o of_o god_n from_o the_o first_o or_o at_o least_o that_o our_o lord_n have_v neglect_v all_o care_n of_o it_o since_o because_o it_o do_v so_o little_a good_a as_o yet_o in_o the_o world_n because_o it_o run_v out_o into_o so_o many_o error_n and_o because_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o be_v so_o vehement_o already_o but_o have_v we_o all_o of_o we_o that_o steadfast_a faith_n which_o the_o gospel_n require_v which_o be_v not_o ground_v mere_o upon_o education_n and_o the_o custom_n of_o our_o country_n but_o upon_o the_o demonstration_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o of_o power_n have_v we_o that_o faith_n which_o will_v bear_v examination_n and_o encounter_v opposition_n if_o we_o have_v a_o very_a little_a exhortation_n will_v serve_v the_o turn_n to_o make_v we_o persevere_v in_o read_v god_n book_n whereby_o we_o shall_v be_v yet_o more_o strong_o build_v up_o in_o our_o most_o holy_a faith._n but_o if_o not_o our_o want_n of_o faith_n will_v not_o be_v admit_v at_o the_o last_o day_n for_o a_o excuse_n of_o the_o badness_n of_o our_o life_n when_o we_o have_v the_o scripture_n with_o his_o hearer_n in_o this_o manner_n perhaps_o some_o may_v say_v that_o they_o be_v otherwise_o employ_v in_o their_o worldly_a calling_n and_o other_o that_o they_o have_v not_o money_n to_o idle_a person_n and_o do_v you_o not_o all_o know_v that_o you_o be_v profess_a christian_n and_o call_v to_o the_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n and_o that_o diligent_a read_n and_o hear_v the_o holy_a scripture_n be_v as_o necessary_a to_o your_o christian_a call_v as_o any_o thing_n can_v be_v to_o the_o successful_a management_n of_o your_o secular_a profession_n i_o shall_v add_v this_o god_n and_o eschew_v evil_a for_o he_o that_o pretend_v religion_n pretend_v to_o serve_v god_n and_o to_o depend_v upon_o he_o in_o all_o condition_n of_o life_n and_o that_o god_n be_v more_o to_o he_o than_o all_o the_o world_n beside_o but_o the_o reality_n of_o this_o can_v never_o be_v so_o well_o see_v as_o when_o we_o do_v his_o will_n and_o bless_v his_o name_n even_o when_o he_o deprive_v we_o of_o the_o good_a thing_n and_o send_v we_o the_o affliction_n of_o this_o life_n we_o shall_v therefore_o receive_v evil_a from_o god_n hand_n as_o well_o as_o good_a though_o we_o be_v as_o perfect_a as_o job_n be_v in_o fear_v god_n and_o eschew_v evil_n because_o though_o it_o do_v not_o befall_v we_o in_o such_o a_o case_n as_o a_o punishment_n yet_o it_o come_v as_o a_o trial_n and_o there_o be_v weighty_a reason_n for_o patience_n under_o it_o for_o 1._o it_o be_v exceed_o for_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n and_o religion_n if_o we_o acquit_v ourselves_o well_o in_o bear_v it_o this_o show_v the_o sincerity_n and_o the_o power_n of_o our_o faith_n and_o that_o religion_n be_v a_o principle_n of_o the_o true_a fortitude_n and_o fidelity_n when_o no_o worldly_a loss_n nor_o outward_a pain_n can_v hinder_v we_o from_o blessing_n god_n and_o persevere_v in_o our_o duty_n the_o world_n will_v see_v that_o we_o be_v very_o sure_o we_o serve_v a_o good_a master_n and_o one_o who_o we_o believe_v nothing_o aught_o to_o deter_v or_o discourage_v we_o from_o obey_v not_o death_n itself_o nor_o vexation_n worse_o than_o death_n hereby_o we_o declare_v that_o without_o all_o this_o world_n good_a he_o alone_o be_v sufficient_a for_o our_o reward_n that_o there_o be_v no_o evil_a like_o lose_v his_o favour_n no_o good_a like_o keep_v it_o 2._o it_o will_v prove_v our_o sincerity_n in_o all_o the_o rest_n upon_o this_o trial_n we_o can_v doubt_v but_o that_o it_o be_v for_o god_n sake_n that_o we_o abstain_v from_o drunkenness_n and_o theft_n and_o hard_a deal_n and_o lust_n and_o uncleanness_n that_o in_o pure_a conscience_n and_o with_o pious_a affection_n we_o offer_v up_o our_o daily_a prayer_n and_o bless_a god_n for_o all_o his_o gift_n and_o observe_v his_o law_n for_o no_o other_o principle_n can_v make_v a_o man_n persevere_v in_o religious_a dependence_n upon_o he_o when_o he_o be_v not_o bribe_v with_o the_o prosperity_n of_o
