search_v for_o the_o knowledge_n of_o this_o will_n of_o god_n by_o the_o which_o we_o must_v direct_v all_o our_o work_n &_o deed_n but_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n for_o they_o be_v they_o that_o testify_v of_o he_o say_v our_o saviour_n christ_n it_o may_v be_v call_v knowledge_n and_o v_o learning_n that_o be_v other_o where_o get_v out_o of_o the_o word_n but_o the_o wise_a man_n plain_o will_v haste_v to_o the_o third_o part_n of_o my_o text_n wherein_o be_v express_v further_o in_o sapience_n how_o god_n give_v his_o elect_v a_o understanding_n of_o the_o motion_n of_o the_o heaven_n of_o the_o alteration_n and_o circumstance_n of_o time_n which_o as_o it_o follow_v in_o word_n more_o plentiful_a in_o the_o text_n which_o i_o have_v last_o cite_v unto_o you_o so_o it_o must_v needs_o follow_v in_o they_o that_o be_v endue_v with_o this_o spiritual_a wisdom_n for_o as_o they_o can_v search_v where_o to_o find_v this_o wisdom_n and_o know_v of_o who_o to_o ask_v it_o so_o know_v they_o again_o that_o in_o time_n it_o be_v find_v and_o can_v therefore_o attemper_v themselves_o to_o the_o occasion_n of_o the_o time_n to_o suffer_v no_o time_n to_o pass_v away_o wherein_o they_o may_v labour_v for_o this_o wisdom_n and_o to_o increase_v therein_o they_o know_v how_o god_n of_o his_o infinite_a mercy_n and_o lenity_n give_v all_o man_n here_o time_n and_o place_n of_o repentance_n and_o they_o see_v how_o the_o wicked_a as_o job_n xxiiii_o write_v abuse_v the_o same_o to_o their_o pride_n &_o therefore_o do_v the_o godly_a take_v the_o better_a hold_n thereby_o in_o a_o much_o more_o nyghnes_n to_o salvation_n where_o we_o may_v have_v be_v bear_v if_o his_o goodness_n have_v not_o be_v among_o the_o paynim_n clean_o void_a from_o god_n and_o the_o hope_n of_o everlasting_a life_n and_o what_o other_o thing_n do_v his_o love_a and_o gentle_a voice_n speak_v in_o his_o word_n where_o he_o call_v we_o to_o his_o presence_n &_o friendship_n but_o heaven_n and_o let_v we_o hear_v what_o answer_n they_o will_v make_v in_o these_o point_n afore_o rehearse_v whether_o their_o first_o creation_n be_v in_o god_n goodness_n or_o of_o themselves_o forsooth_o david_n will_v make_v answer_n for_o they_o all_o and_o say_v know_v you_o for_o surety_n even_o the_o lord_n be_v god_n he_o have_v make_v we_o and_o not_o we_o ourselves_o if_o they_o seek_v those_o thing_n in_o their_o own_o work_n and_o merit_n which_o ought_v only_o to_o be_v seek_v in_o our_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n and_o in_o the_o merit_n of_o his_o death_n passion_n and_o bloodshedding_n four_o this_o holy_a prophet_n joel_n do_v levely_a express_v the_o manner_n of_o this_o our_o return_v or_o repentance_n comprehend_v all_o the_o inward_a and_o outward_a return_v thing_n that_o may_v be_v here_o observe_v first_o he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o return_v unto_o god_n with_o our_o whole_a heart_n whereby_o he_o do_v remove_v and_o put_v away_o all_o hypocrisy_n lest_o the_o same_o may_v just_o be_v say_v unto_o we_o this_o people_n draw_v near_o unto_o xv_o i_o with_o their_o mouth_n and_o worship_v i_o with_o their_o lip_n but_o their_o heart_n be_v far_o of_o from_o i_o second_o he_o require_v a_o sincere_a &_o pure_a love_n of_o godliness_n &_o of_o the_o true_a worship_v and_o service_n of_o god_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o forsake_v all_o outward_a weep_a and_o mourn_v only_o he_o do_v rehearse_v that_o wherein_o the_o chief_a of_o the_o whole_a matter_n do_v lie_v when_o he_o say_v rend_v your_o heart_n 52._o and_o not_o your_o garment_n and_o turn_v unto_o the_o lord_n your_o god_n for_o the_o people_n of_o the_o east_n part_n of_o the_o world_n be_v wont_a to_o rend_v their_o garment_n if_o any_o thing_n have_v happen_v unto_o they_o that_o seem_v intolerable_a this_o thing_n do_v hypocrite_n sometime_o counterfeit_v and_o follow_v as_o though_o the_o whole_a repentance_n do_v stand_v in_o such_o outward_a thing_n gesture_n he_o teach_v then_o that_o a_o other_o manner_n of_o thing_n be_v require_v that_o be_v that_o they_o be_v contrite_a in_o their_o heart_n that_o they_o must_v utter_o detest_v and_o abhor_v sin_n and_o be_v at_o defiance_n with_o they_o return_v unto_o the_o lord_n their_o god_n from_o who_o they_o go_v away_o before_o for_o god_n have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o the_o outward_a ceremony_n but_o require_v a_o contrite_a and_o humble_a heart_n which_o 51._o he_o will_v never_o despise_v as_o david_n do_v testify_v there_o be_v therefore_o none_o other_o use_n to_o these_o outward_a ceremony_n but_o as_o far_o forth_o as_o we_o be_v stir_v up_o by_o they_o and_o do_v serve_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o to_o the_o edify_n of_o other_o now_o do_v he_o add_v unto_o this_o doctrine_n or_o exhortation_n unprostâ—able_n certain_a godly_a reason_n which_o he_o do_v ground_n upon_o the_o nature_n and_o property_n of_o god_n and_o whereby_o he_o do_v teach_v that_o true_a repentance_n can_v never_o be_v unprofitable_a or_o unfruitful_a for_o as_o in_o all_o other_o thing_n man_n heart_n do_v quail_v and_o faint_v if_o they_o once_o perceive_v that_o they_o travail_n in_o
