and_o corruption_n that_o he_o be_v to_o be_v whole_o break_v down_o and_o bring_v to_o nothing_o even_o in_o the_o very_a natural_n that_o he_o may_v be_v new_o make_v and_o build_v up_o in_o the_o form_v and_o bear_v of_o the_o spirit_n and_o as_o he_o spring_v up_o in_o the_o life_n he_o be_v to_o forget_v his_o own_o country_n live_v in_o the_o spirit_n and_o walk_v in_o the_o spirit_n where_o watch_v to_o the_o spirit_n and_o against_o his_o own_o reason_n in_o the_o pure_a childishess_n in_o the_o simple_a instinct_n and_o naturalness_n of_o the_o life_n he_o shall_v at_o length_n find_v a_o reason_n new_o form_v and_o spring_a up_o in_o he_o which_o wait_v on_o the_o lord_n in_o obedience_n and_o subjection_n shall_v be_v take_v into_o unity_n with_o the_o life_n but_o if_o the_o eye_n of_o reason_n open_a too_o fast_o and_o be_v not_o keep_v down_o to_o the_o light_n of_o life_n the_o betrayer_n will_v enter_v again_o at_o that_o door_n and_o bring_v the_o soul_n into_o discover_v darkness_n that_o which_o make_v mamanife_v the_o darkness_n be_v light_n when_o the_o vessel_n be_v dark_a and_o the_o prince_n of_o darkness_n fill_v it_o and_o dwell_v in_o it_o what_o can_v that_o eye_n see_v but_o according_a to_o the_o darkness_n judge_v evil_a good_a and_o good_a evil_n bitter_a sweet_a and_o sweet_a bitter_a quest_n but_o there_o be_v no_o man_n but_o have_v some_o light_n no_o man_n but_o at_o some_o time_n or_o other_o see_v good_a or_o evil_a in_o some_o measure_n answ_n that_o arise_v not_o from_o the_o light_n of_o man_n nature_n as_o it_o now_o liberty_n he_o can_v speak_v his_o own_o word_n think_v his_o own_o thought_n do_v his_o own_o will_n seek_v himself_o please_v himself_o satisfy_v himself_o the_o life_n of_o righteousness_n be_v a_o sweetness_n in_o the_o pure_a fear_n and_o tremble_v not_o depart_v therefrom_o in_o what_o ever_o it_o do_v for_o god_n or_o receive_v from_o he_o till_o the_o salvation_n be_v whole_o wrought_v preservation_n of_o the_o life_n from_o the_o bondage_n but_o swallow_v it_o up_o and_o comprehend_v it_o for_o the_o pure_a fear_n be_v but_o love_v descend_v and_o the_o pure_a love_n be_v but_o fear_v ascend_v the_o eternal_a principle_n or_o substance_n be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o in_o both_o quest_n be_v there_o then_o such_o a_o state_n of_o safety_n upon_o which_o the_o enemy_n can_v of_o death_n and_o darkness_n turn_v the_o heart_n from_o they_o towards_o himself_o cause_v it_o to_o wait_v under_o the_o captivity_n for_o the_o appearance_n of_o the_o arm_n of_o his_o strength_n to_o break_v the_o yoke_n of_o the_o oppressor_n from_o off_o the_o neck_n of_o the_o oppress_a and_o so_o to_o bring_v out_o of_o the_o land_n of_o death_n and_o darkness_n into_o the_o travel_n towards_o the_o land_n of_o promise_n where_o the_o peace_n the_o life_n the_o liberty_n in_o the_o lord_n the_o rest_n the_o joy_n the_o full_a content_a and_o happiness_n be_v reap_v by_o the_o soul_n which_o follow_v the_o lamb_n thither_o quest_n how_o do_v god_n weaken_v the_o creature_n under_o the_o teach_n and_o chastisement_n of_o the_o law_n answ_n by_o exercise_v he_o towards_o free_a therefrom_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o his_o life_n spring_v up_o in_o the_o heart_n than_o he_o exercise_v the_o heart_n and_o conversation_n towards_o the_o good_a and_o from_o the_o evil_a then_o he_o give_v out_o law_n for_o or_o against_o thing_n according_a as_o he_o find_v most_o proper_a to_o the_o estate_n of_o every_o particular_a soul_n now_o upon_o the_o give_v forth_o of_o the_o sin_n which_o it_o loathe_v and_o in_o heart_n be_v turn_v from_o and_o to_o be_v keep_v from_o the_o good_a which_o it_o belong_v after_o &_o in_o heart_n be_v unite_v to_o partly_o by_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o enemy_n and_o partly_o by_o reason_n of_o its_o own_o weakness_n and_o negligence_n this_o be_v bitter_a also_o insomuch_o as_o it_o cry_v out_o day_n after_o day_n and_o find_v this_o administration_n of_o the_o law_n almost_o as_o heavy_a a_o yoke_n as_o the_o land_n of_o captivity_n itself_o be_v because_o of_o the_o weakness_n of_o it_o through_o the_o flesh_n and_o the_o deceive_v or_o be_v unrighteous_a or_o unmerciful_a in_o any_o of_o his_o dispensation_n and_o that_o which_o be_v gather_v into_o he_o be_v thus_o one_o with_o he_o but_o that_o which_o can_v do_v any_o thing_n which_o be_v sinful_a and_o evil_a in_o itself_o be_v not_o in_o the_o true_a unity_n with_o the_o eternal_a be_v but_o in_o the_o deceit_n of_o that_o spirit_n which_o err_v from_o he_o have_v house_n and_o vineyard_n which_o they_o build_v not_o nor_o plant_v they_o may_v have_v have_v deep_a draught_n of_o the_o life_n deep_a income_n of_o the_o love_n large_a riches_n of_o the_o grace_n and_o precious_a taste_n of_o the_o fullness_n they_o may_v have_v be_v in_o the_o paradise_n of_o god_n may_v have_v be_v anoint_v by_o god_n may_v have_v stand_v upon_o his_o holy_a mountain_n and_o walk_v up_o and_o down_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o stone_n of_o fire_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o the_o enemy_n may_v have_v leave_n to_o tempt_v and_o may_v find_v entrance_n for_o his_o temptation_n advance_v above_o this_o estate_n in_o the_o deceiveableness_n and_o increase_v the_o glory_n in_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o wisdom_n which_o he_o steal_v in_o and_o so_o hold_v the_o spirit_n captive_a in_o his_o golden_a chain_n and_o lead_v it_o back_o again_o to_o the_o chamber_n of_o death_n quest_n how_o do_v or_o can_v the_o enemy_n prevail_v over_o person_n in_o so_o glorious_a a_o estate_n answ_n by_o open_v a_o large_a eye_n in_o they_o than_o
inroad_n of_o sin_n and_o corruption_n dash_v against_o the_o holy_a and_o righteous_a law_n of_o life_n the_o over-bearing_a the_o strong_a desire_n after_o purity_n and_o force_n into_o the_o defilement_n hinder_v the_o soul_n from_o do_v what_o it_o love_v and_o make_v it_o to_o do_v what_o it_o hate_v and_o will_v not_o this_o make_v it_o become_v poor_a and_o poor_a and_o more_o afflict_a day_n by_o day_n upon_o some_o visitation_n of_o the_o pure_a life_n and_o some_o fresh_a virtue_n receive_v oh_o how_o strong_a do_v the_o soul_n seem_v but_o when_o it_o sudden_o forfeit_v its_o mercy_n lose_v its_o freshness_n and_o be_v plunge_v deep_a in_o the_o pit_n than_o before_o how_o poor_a and_o weak_a do_v it_o then_o feel_v itself_o tremble_v at_o the_o next_o open_n of_o the_o life_n and_o springing_n up_o of_o the_o virtue_n thereof_o in_o it_o not_o know_v what_o weakness_n captivity_n entanglement_n and_o misery_n from_o the_o snare_n of_o death_n remain_v to_o follow_v second_o they_o bring_v into_o a_o mourn_a estate_n they_o fill_v the_o eye_n with_o tear_n and_o the_o heart_n with_o sorrow_n yea_o they_o cause_v a_o entrance_n into_o the_o house_n of_o mourning_n to_o be_v accustom_v to_o wound_n bruise_n snare_n grieve_v of_o the_o spirit_n provoke_v of_o the_o deliverer_n further_a and_o give_v advantage_n to_o the_o enemy_n etc._n etc._n the_o sense_n of_o this_o overwhelm_v the_o heart_n with_o grief_n and_o cause_v continual_a sorrow_n and_o lamentation_n to_o that_o which_o be_v upright_o towards_o god_n three_o they_o bring_v into_o a_o meek_a merciful_a and_o tenderhearted_a frame_v towards_o other_o he_o that_o be_v tempt_v he_o that_o often_o fall_v and_o be_v so_o often_o wound_v and_o make_v miserable_a he_o pity_v those_o such_o continual_a need_n of_o abundant_a mercy_n himself_o it_o be_v the_o rich_a man_n the_o sound_a man_n in_o religion_n that_o be_v rough_a and_o hard_a but_o he_o that_o be_v once_o thorough_o before_o and_o enjoy_v god_n in_o the_o land_n of_o the_o live_n o_o how_o do_v the_o heart_n that_o be_v daily_o afflict_v with_o its_o unbelief_n and_o disobedience_n long_o for_o the_o faith_n that_o stand_v in_o the_o power_n and_o the_o obedience_n that_o flow_v from_o the_o power_n o_o teach_v i_o thy_o statute_n show_v i_o the_o pure_a path_n of_o obedience_n in_o the_o way_n of_o life_n guide_v my_o foot_n in_o the_o way_n everlasting_a o_o write_v thy_o fear_n in_o my_o heart_n that_o i_o may_v not_o depart_v from_o thou_o create_v a_o clean_a heart_n in_o i_o and_o put_v and_o the_o less_o strength_n it_o have_v in_o itself_o to_o grapple_v with_o the_o persecute_v spirit_n of_o the_o world_n the_o fit_a it_o be_v to_o stand_v in_o god_n counsel_n to_o wait_v for_o his_o strength_n and_o preservation_n which_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v up_o its_o head_n above_o all_o the_o rage_n and_o swell_a of_o the_o water_n of_o the_o worldly_a spirit_n in_o the_o man_n of_o this_o world_n much_o more_o may_v be_v say_v but_o this_o may_v suffice_v what_o be_v behind_o will_v be_v feel_v inward_o as_o the_o soul_n wait_v on_o god_n in_o the_o leading_n of_o his_o spirit_n through_o the_o teach_n chastisement_n and_o distress_n of_o the_o law_n quest_n with_o what_o kind_n of_o thing_n do_v the_o lord_n exercise_v the_o spirit_n of_o his_o israel_n to_o bring_v their_o heart_n into_o these_o and_o such_o other_o like_o precious_a frame_n ans_fw-fr with_o several_a sort_n and_o kind_n of_o thing_n both_o outward_a and_o inward_a as_o first_o with_o opposition_n reproach_n and_o interruption_n from_o the_o earthly_a part_n both_o in_o the_o man_n of_o this_o world_n and_o in_o themselves_o there_o be_v abundance_n within_o and_o abundance_n without_o to_o resist_v disdain_n and_o interrupt_v the_o work_n of_o god_n in_o the_o heart_n to_o oppose_v and_o withstand_v that_o which_o he_o have_v beget_v there_o his_o leading_n of_o it_o and_o its_o obedience_n to_o he_o second_o with_o temptation_n from_o the_o enemy_n even_o of_o many_o kind_n nature_n and_o degree_n according_a to_o the_o present_a temper_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o soul_n as_o either_o to_o doubt_v and_o so_o despair_n or_o be_v confident_a in_o the_o flesh_n from_o knowledge_n receive_v out_o of_o the_o pure_a fear_n and_o fresh_a feel_n of_o the_o life_n so_o again_o either_o to_o halt_v and_o draw_v back_o or_o to_o be_v overhasty_a and_o forward_a so_o likewise_o either_o not_o to_o obey_v and_o act_n for_o god_n or_o to_o act_n in_o that_o will_n and_o wisdom_n which_o be_v against_o god_n now_o these_o with_o such_o like_a be_v very_o numerous_a frequent_a and_o sometime_o very_o violent_a 〈◊〉_d impetuous_a three_o by_o withdrawing_n oâ—_n 〈◊〉_d life_n
