thou_o shall_v save_v man_n but_o find_v much_o wherefore_o thou_o shall_v condemn_v they_o and_o thus_o far_o for_o this_o point_n now_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o apostle_n which_o shall_v be_v show_v good_a time_n be_v make_v manifest_a unto_o they_o yea_o the_o full_a fruition_n and_o possession_n whereof_o they_o themselves_o shall_v have_v that_o word_n shall_v be_v instruct_v all_o of_o we_o with_o faith_n and_o patience_n to_o expect_v the_o manifestation_n thereof_o not_o doubt_v but_o steadfast_o believe_v that_o though_o there_o be_v some_o delay_n of_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o this_o yea_o and_o though_o our_o present_a affliction_n be_v never_o so_o many_o great_a and_o grievous_a that_o yet_o notwithstanding_o a_o time_n will_v come_v when_o they_o shall_v be_v utter_o remoove_v and_o take_v away_o from_o we_o and_o we_o ourselves_o put_v into_o actual_a and_o real_a possession_n of_o eternal_a joy_n promise_v the_o faithful_a performance_n whereof_o we_o do_v and_o yet_o do_v in_o some_o measure_n of_o a_o sound_a hope_n look_v after_o neither_o doubt_v i_o but_o even_o in_o this_o behalf_n namely_o touch_v the_o delay_n of_o the_o thing_n promise_v there_o do_v and_o will_v arise_v by_o mean_n of_o their_o natural_a corruption_n many_o temptation_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n child_n and_o those_o also_o increase_v not_o only_o by_o satan_n malice_n who_o labour_v to_o make_v we_o believe_v that_o either_o god_n can_v not_o or_o will_v not_o be_v as_o good_a as_o his_o word_n but_o foster_v and_o feed_v by_o text_n of_o scripture_n also_o not_o well_o understand_v or_o right_o apply_v as_o when_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v say_v 13.12_o prou._n 13.12_o the_o hope_n that_o be_v defer_v be_v the_o faint_a of_o the_o hart_n etc._n etc._n but_o against_o these_o we_o must_v learn_v in_o all_o bless_a wisdom_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o mighty_a power_n of_o the_o word_n to_o set_v such_o comfort_n as_o it_o shall_v please_v god_n out_o of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n to_o manifest_v unto_o us._n among_o which_o these_o follow_v be_v in_o my_o poor_a judgement_n though_o not_o of_o the_o great_a force_n as_o some_o may_v perhaps_o think_v yet_o of_o some_o good_a effect_n doubtless_o to_o repress_v such_o assault_n of_o diffidence_n in_o worldly_a matter_n when_o man_n deal_v with_o man_n yet_o be_v they_o not_o dismay_v with_o delay_n but_o rather_o raise_v up_o their_o hope_n herein_o that_o the_o defer_v of_o the_o thing_n promise_v be_v not_o a_o take_n away_o of_o the_o same_o or_o else_o persuade_v themselves_o that_o the_o length_n of_o time_n shall_v be_v recompense_v either_o with_o the_o excellency_n &_o fullness_n of_o the_o thing_n themselves_o or_o with_o some_o one_o consideration_n or_o other_o a_o other_o way_n how_o much_o more_o shall_v we_o be_v comfort_v not_o only_o in_o this_o that_o we_o deal_v not_o with_o man_n who_o be_v even_o as_o the_o wind_n and_o weather_n waver_v &_o uncertain_a but_o with_o god_n who_o always_o continue_v like_a unto_o himself_o and_o have_v from_o he_o the_o assure_a promise_n as_o of_o all_o benefit_n general_o so_o of_o such_o blessing_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v particular_o as_o with_o the_o least_o whereof_o all_o the_o delight_n and_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n whatsoever_o no_o though_o they_o be_v all_o lay_v together_o &_o bestow_v upon_o one_o man_n be_v any_o manner_n of_o way_n matchable_a special_o since_o that_o god_n know_v our_o heart_n and_o state_n better_a than_o we_o do_v ourselves_o do_v therefore_o many_o time_n put_v off_o the_o performance_n of_o such_o excellent_a thing_n that_o so_o he_o may_v make_v we_o the_o more_o reverent_o to_o esteem_v of_o they_o when_o we_o receive_v they_o and_o the_o more_o earnest_o to_o desire_v they_o when_o we_o want_v they_o that_o be_v so_o exceed_o comfortable_a &_o profitable_a for_o every_o one_o of_o us._n neither_o do_v god_n dally_v with_o we_o herein_o as_o man_n do_v who_o will_v either_o give_v fair_a word_n &_o do_v no_o good_a deed_n or_o else_o many_o time_n show_v we_o good_a thing_n a_o far_o off_o that_o so_o they_o may_v seem_v more_o fair_a and_o beautiful_a and_o by_o that_o mean_n as_o a_o man_n will_v say_v set_v our_o tooth_n on_o edge_n upon_o they_o and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o not_o bestow_v they_o upon_o we_o neither_o when_o they_o have_v do_v or_o give_v we_o any_o other_o good_a thing_n in_o stead_n thereof_o that_o so_o in_o some_o testimony_n of_o favour_n we_o may_v have_v our_o hope_n uphold_v in_o obtain_v of_o matter_n of_o great_a importance_n in_o time_n to_o come_v but_o deal_v far_o otherwise_o with_o we_o not_o only_o give_v we_o a_o sight_n but_o a_o sensible_a feel_n sometime_o as_o of_o many_o outward_a benefit_n and_o blessing_n pertain_v to_o this_o life_n so_o of_o sundry_a and_o singular_a spiritual_a grace_n but_o special_o of_o those_o incomprehensible_a joy_n that_o in_o heaven_n be_v hide_v for_o we_o in_o christ_n before_o the_o foundation_n of_o the_o world_n be_v lay_v whereof_o that_o we_o may_v be_v the_o better_o persuade_v yea_o even_o then_o when_o he_o let_v we_o for_o a_o little_a while_n want_v our_o former_a comfort_n he_o do_v yet_o vouchsafe_v we_o innumerable_a token_n and_o pledge_n of_o his_o most_o constant_a love_n and_o that_o not_o only_o in_o bodily_a benefit_n as_o health_n wealth_n liberty_n etc._n etc._n but_o as_o be_v say_v before_o in_o spiritual_a blessing_n also_o as_o in_o his_o word_n sacrament_n prayer_n and_o a_o great_a number_n such_o like_a effectual_a mean_n to_o bring_v we_o in_o good_a time_n to_o that_o quiet_a haven_n of_o heaven_n and_o eternal_a rest_n that_o we_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o manifold_a toss_n and_o turmoil_n of_o this_o wretched_a life_n have_v often_o and_o earnest_o wish_v for_o and_o yet_o this_o faith_n may_v be_v foster_v and_o feed_v in_o we_o by_o a_o other_o word_n in_o the_o text_n namely_o when_o he_o say_v that_o it_o shall_v

it_o be_v and_o beat_v again_o and_o that_o all_o to_o piece_n the_o sweet_a perfume_n that_o so_o we_o may_v have_v all_o our_o sense_n seize_v and_o whole_o take_v up_o not_o only_o with_o the_o wholesome_a but_o with_o the_o most_o pleasant_a and_o delightful_a smell_n thereof_o i_o mean_v spiritual_o that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o so_o we_o may_v come_v at_o the_o length_n to_o the_o full_a meaning_n thereof_o and_o to_o the_o fit_n observation_n of_o such_o profitable_a doctrine_n as_o do_v arise_v and_o may_v right_o be_v gather_v out_o of_o the_o same_o verse_n 18_o for_o i_o count_v etc._n etc._n the_o very_a word_n wherewith_o the_o apostle_n begin_v this_o verse_n be_v a_o particle_n causal_n as_o we_o use_v to_o say_v do_v sufficient_o prove_v that_o it_o be_v a_o reason_n of_o the_o premise_n or_o thing_n before_o go_v of_o which_o because_o we_o have_v speak_v sufficient_a already_o we_o shall_v not_o now_o need_v to_o stand_v much_o upon_o it_o here_o and_o when_o the_o apostle_n say_v ay_o he_o mean_v it_o not_o of_o himself_o only_o for_o it_o be_v the_o common_a judgement_n and_o belief_n of_o all_o the_o faithful_a and_o the_o whole_a church_n of_o god_n also_o who_o be_v enlighten_v by_o the_o same_o spirit_n either_o be_v of_o that_o mind_n together_o with_o he_o or_o shall_v so_o be_v because_o in_o this_o point_n he_o speak_v not_o by_o his_o own_o light_n but_o according_a to_o the_o truth_n and_o power_n of_o the_o spirit_n neither_o yet_o do_v he_o speak_v it_o of_o himself_o as_o of_o a_o natural_a man_n for_o the_o thing_n that_o he_o utter_v be_v far_a beyond_o nature_n yea_o altogether_o contrary_a to_o the_o same_o for_o what_o worldly_a wise_a natural_a mind_a man_n can_v either_o see_v in_o affliction_n the_o glory_n that_o the_o son_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n behold_v and_o fall_v in_o the_o same_o or_o else_o can_v oppose_v the_o incomprehensible_a joy_n of_o eternal_a life_n against_o those_o exceed_a hardness_n and_o great_a distress_n they_o rather_o suppose_v all_o thing_n to_o be_v direct_v by_o secondary_a cause_n or_o to_o speak_v as_o they_o themselves_o say_v by_o the_o course_n of_o nature_n or_o direction_n of_o fortune_n who_o indeed_o be_v so_o far_o off_o from_o perceive_v these_o heavenly_a joy_n and_o comfort_n that_o they_o be_v carry_v away_o with_o conceit_n either_o to_o use_v unlawful_a mean_n to_o free_v they_o from_o affliction_n or_o else_o fearful_o fall_v into_o all_o mutter_n and_o repine_v against_o god_n or_o to_o all_o impatiency_n before_o man_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o they_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o the_o comfort_n of_o god_n child_n nor_o have_v no_o feel_n of_o the_o joy_n of_o the_o life_n that_o be_v to_o come_v alas_o alas_o they_o know_v not_o indeed_o what_o either_o the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o mean_v 2.14_o 1._o cor._n 2.14_o for_o these_o thing_n be_v spiritual_a but_o they_o themselves_o be_v carnal_a sell_v under_o sin_n and_o therefore_o unmeete_a to_o discern_v of_o the_o same_o 7.14_o rom._n 7.14_o because_o they_o must_v be_v spiritual_o judge_v out_o of_o all_o which_o lay_v together_o we_o may_v learn_v sundry_a good_a lesson_n as_o first_o that_o howsoever_o we_o do_v either_o for_o the_o express_v of_o our_o own_o feeling_n or_o the_o better_a fructifieng_v of_o the_o word_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o to_o who_o it_o be_v direct_v speak_v particular_o of_o ourselves_o or_o as_o it_o may_v seem_v in_o our_o own_o name_n yet_o that_o we_o never_o swerve_v from_o that_o truth_n of_o doctrine_n that_o be_v commend_v unro_fw-la we_o in_fw-la the_o word_n write_v &_o be_v seal_v up_o in_o our_o heart_n by_o the_o pledge_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o be_v approve_v by_o the_o common_a consent_n of_o the_o church_n of_o god_n the_o neglect_n of_o this_o special_o while_o man_n go_v about_o to_o magnify_v their_o own_o person_n and_o opinion_n have_v be_v the_o mean_a heretofore_o of_o many_o heresy_n sect_n and_o error_n in_o the_o church_n of_o god_n and_o may_v bring_v forth_o the_o same_o bitter_a fruit_n hereafter_o except_o it_o please_v god_n to_o give_v man_n better_a grace_n to_o look_v unto_o themselves_o second_o it_o teach_v we_o that_o so_o soon_o as_o god_n begin_v to_o lay_v upon_o we_o his_o rod_n and_o cross_n of_o trial_n that_o then_o we_o shall_v learn_v not_o only_o in_o the_o spirit_n of_o patience_n &_o comfort_n to_o submit_v ourselves_o under_o his_o mighty_a hand_n but_o with_o alferuency_n of_o prayer_n to_o crave_v the_o clear_n of_o our_o understanding_n 1.5_o james_n 1.5_o and_o all_o holy_a wisdom_n also_o as_o s._n james_n call_v it_o that_o we_o may_v both_o see_v his_o way_n in_o his_o work_n &_o learn_v to_o espy_v out_o and_o feel_v the_o consolation_n and_o comfort_n that_o he_o have_v provide_v for_o we_o that_o so_o we_o sink_v not_o down_o under_o the_o burden_n of_o our_o calamity_n but_o be_v raise_v up_o rather_o to_o all_o feel_a hope_n a_o point_n that_o we_o have_v need_v to_o strive_v unto_o by_o all_o holy_a mean_n possible_a aswell_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o blindness_n &_o blockishness_n of_o our_o own_o nature_n and_o the_o diffidence_n and_o distrust_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n as_o also_o because_o of_o satan_n continual_a malice_n who_o labour_v at_o all_o time_n but_o special_o in_o the_o day_n of_o our_o great_a heaviness_n our_o most_o fearful_a destruction_n and_o whereas_o the_o apostle_n say_v i_o count_v he_o mean_v that_o he_o come_v with_o a_o upright_o judgement_n in_o a_o even_a pair_n of_o balance_n &_o scale_n as_o it_o be_v have_v right_o &_o religios_o examine_v reason_n on_o both_o side_n and_o gather_v all_o into_o a_o just_a sum_n to_o weigh_v the_o trouble_n of_o this_o world_n and_o the_o joy_n of_o heaven_n together_o not_o deal_v therein_o as_o either_o the_o worldly_a man_n do_v who_o regard_v nothing_o but_o his_o misery_n and_o affliction_n by_o mean_n whereof_o he_o become_v not_o only_o impatient_a and_o wayward_a but_o past_o all_o hope_n of_o admit_v comfort_n and_o consolation_n nor_o play_v the_o part_n of_o the_o profane_a and_o insensible_a stoic_n who_o again_o on_o the_o other_o side_n by_o reason_n of_o their_o beastly_a blockishness_n that_o they_o get_v unto_o themselves_o have_v both_o their_o soul_n and_o body_n benumb_v as_o it_o be_v be_v no_o whit_n at_o all_o touch_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o same_o nor_o yet_o be_v so_o rapt_v and_o ravish_v with_o these_o eternal_a joy_n that_o they_o utter_o forget_v or_o feel_v not_o at_o all_o the_o misery_n and_o affliction_n of_o this_o life_n a_o matter_n that_o the_o contemplative_a person_n in_o their_o trance_n dream_n and_o revelation_n make_v the_o height_n and_o top_n of_o all_o perfection_n in_o this_o world_n but_o as_o wise_a physician_n yea_o as_o good_a christian_n intermingle_v sweet_a thing_n and_o sour_a thing_n together_o and_o compare_v one_o of_o they_o so_o with_o a_o other_o that_o as_o they_o see_v in_o their_o affliction_n a_o evident_a pattern_n of_o the_o misery_n &_o mortality_n of_o their_o own_o life_n and_o a_o plain_a proof_n of_o the_o justice_n and_o judgement_n of_o god_n against_o sin_n so_o they_o make_v the_o same_o a_o profitable_a mean_n to_o themselves_o not_o only_o in_o a_o christian_n and_o comfortable_a death_n but_o in_o a_o holy_a life_n also_o so_o long_o as_o god_n will_v have_v they_o to_o live_v upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n to_o meet_v with_o the_o lord_n and_o to_o glorify_v his_o most_o bless_a name_n and_o this_o do_v teach_v we_o upright_o to_o weigh_v and_o to_o examine_v as_o all_o thing_n general_o so_o special_o and_o particular_o spiritual_a point_n which_o indeed_o by_o reason_n that_o they_o be_v more_o excellent_a than_o bodily_a matter_n and_o in_o that_o respect_n also_o in_o their_o own_o nature_n more_o remoove_v from_o our_o comprehension_n than_o the_o rest_n have_v therefore_o need_v most_o deep_o to_o be_v look_v into_o for_o though_o by_o the_o line_n and_o light_n of_o our_o reason_n we_o may_v be_v somewhat_o holpen_v to_o wade_v into_o worldly_a thing_n yet_o in_o matter_n of_o faith_n and_o religion_n we_o can_v not_o only_o not_o pierce_v any_o thing_n at_o all_o by_o the_o light_n &_o sight_n of_o our_o own_o understanding_n but_o shall_v be_v much_o hurt_n and_o hinder_v thereby_o from_o the_o same_o if_o we_o yield_v to_o follow_v it_o yea_o many_o time_n even_o in_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o life_n we_o be_v so_o blockish_a &_o devoide_a of_o judgement_n that_o what_o by_o reason_n of_o colour_n cast_v upon_o worldly_a thing_n and_o what_o by_o the_o blindness_n and_o ignorance_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n on_o the_o one_o side_n and_o the_o partiality_n that_o
