to_o great_a madness_n as_o follow_v in_o the_o next_o chap._n and_o thus_o many_o time_n god_n compel_v the_o wicked_a to_o geve_v testimony_n to_o his_o glory_n when_o yet_o they_o retain_v their_o vice_n and_o fall_v forthwith_o to_o their_o accustom_a wickedness_n as_o it_o be_v plain_a afterward_o whereby_o we_o may_v learn_v that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o though_o a_o man_n with_o open_a of_o god_n and_o christ_n but_o they_o rob_v away_o all_o the_o power_n and_o give_v it_o unto_o other_o creature_n after_o their_o fond_a imagination_n and_o they_o be_v not_o so_o good_a as_o this_o profane_a king_n for_o they_o will_v not_o geve_v he_o the_o whole_a government_n but_o fain_a man_n to_o have_v free_a will_n and_o all_o thing_n to_o run_v by_o chance_n or_o that_o the_o heaven_n and_o earth_n accord_v to_o man_n merit_n or_o demerit_n do_v their_o endeavour_n and_o office_n thus_o make_v they_o man_n free_a will_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o and_o so_o rob_v god_n of_o his_o honour_n this_o be_v their_o madness_n ¶_o the_o prayer_n grant_v almighty_a god_n sing_v man_n heart_n be_v so_o full_a of_o hypocrisy_n that_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o hard_a then_o to_o purge_v it_o from_o all_o lie_v error_n feign_v &_o dissimulation_n that_o we_o may_v learn_v to_o examine_v ourselves_o full_o and_o substantial_o and_o also_o that_o thou_o will_v so_o shine_v this_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o all_o superstitious_a person_n when_o they_o pretend_v their_o religion_n and_o think_v that_o they_o serve_v their_o god_n yet_o will_v they_o be_v see_v and_o praise_v of_o the_o world_n so_o many_o time_n they_o will_v mix_v policy_n with_o their_o religion_n to_o bring_v man_n into_o a_o uniformity_n and_o these_o two_o thing_n be_v hear_v manifest_a his_o idol_n be_v so_o costly_a and_o great_a that_o his_o fame_n must_v needs_o spread_v and_o he_o strait_o charge_v all_o nation_n both_o jew_n and_o gentile_n upon_o pain_n of_o death_n to_o join_v in_o this_o idolatry_n thus_o for_o policy_n he_o will_v establish_v one_o religion_n in_o all_o the_o nation_n that_o be_v under_o he_o lest_o by_o the_o mixture_n of_o the_o jew_n that_o be_v stiff_o in_o their_o religion_n or_o by_o any_o other_o people_n any_o tumult_n may_v arise_v and_o by_o such_o tumult_n any_o shake_n or_o diminish_v of_o his_o dominion_n thus_o do_v many_o prince_n when_o they_o publish_v law_n for_o religion_n rather_o regard_v their_o own_o quietness_n and_o commodity_n than_o what_o god_n require_v by_o his_o word_n and_o this_o bold_a temerity_n have_v be_v amongst_o they_o from_o the_o beginning_a that_o sometime_o they_o will_v make_v new_a god_n sometime_o they_o will_v appoint_v god_o a_o law_n how_o he_o shall_v be_v worship_v but_o they_o will_v nation_n do_v know_v that_o there_o be_v one_o high_a god_n but_o they_o feign_a the_o angel_n to_o be_v inferior_a gods._n how_o soever_o it_o be_v here_o nebuchadnezer_n do_v bewray_v his_o ignorance_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o he_o have_v yet_o profit_v no_o further_o in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o true_a god_n but_o that_o he_o be_v yet_o wrap_v in_o his_o old_a error_n and_o hold_v still_o many_o god_n as_o he_o be_v entangle_v with_o that_o superstition_n at_o the_o first_o this_o place_n may_v be_v translate_v in_o the_o singular_a number_n as_o as_o some_o do_v but_o so_o it_o be_v wrest_v and_o the_o reason_n that_o move_v they_o be_v very_o weak_a for_o they_o think_v that_o nebuchadnezer_n be_v true_o convert_v which_o be_v prove_v to_o be_v false_a by_o the_o whole_a text_n and_o they_o that_o be_v of_o this_o opinion_n will_v excuse_v he_o of_o all_o fault_n but_o sing_v it_o be_v plain_a the_o many_o testimony_n of_o old_a ignorance_n be_v contain_v in_o this_o decree_n of_o nebuchadnezer_n there_o be_v no_o cause_n why_o we_o shall_v change_v any_o thing_n of_o the_o simplicity_n of_o the_o word_n therefore_o he_o grant_v to_o daniel_n a_o divine_a not_o only_o dispute_v of_o the_o order_n and_o course_n and_o distance_n of_o the_o star_n and_o of_o the_o property_n of_o they_o but_o also_o which_o will_v foretell_v by_o the_o aspect_n of_o the_o star_n all_o that_o be_v to_o come_v whereas_o they_o they_o do_v boast_v so_o great_o of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o all_o thing_n nebuchadnezer_n do_v confess_v that_o they_o be_v deceiver_n for_o he_o ascribe_v this_o to_o daniel_n because_o he_o have_v a_o divine_a spirit_n wherefore_o he_o exclude_v all_o the_o wise_a man_n of_o babylon_n from_o so_o great_a a_o gift_n because_o he_o perceive_v by_o experience_n that_o they_o be_v destitute_a of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n he_o do_v not_o speak_v plain_o but_o this_o be_v easy_o gather_v of_o his_o word_n that_o falsehood_n be_v religion_n but_o only_o have_v taste_v certain_a principle_n and_o we_o know_v that_o by_o common_a opinion_n the_o angels_n be_v mix_v with_o god_n therefore_o nebuchadnezer_n speak_v after_o the_o common_a manner_n when_o he_o say_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o holy_a god_n do_v dwell_v in_o daniel_n 16_o then_o daniel_n who_o name_n be_v beltsazar_n hold_v his_o peace_n by_o the_o space_n of_o one_o hour_n and_o his_o thought_n trouble_v he_o and_o the_o king_n speak_v and_o say_v beltsazar_n let_v neither_o the_o dream_n nor_o the_o interpretation_n thereof_o trouble_v thou_o that_o nebuchadnezer_n do_v here_o confess_v without_o exception_n that_o god_n be_v just_a and_o true_a in_o all_o his_o work_n when_o as_o he_o be_v so_o severe_o punish_v this_o confession_n be_v not_o feign_v for_o that_o which_o he_o speak_v must_v needs_o come_v forth_o of_o the_o inward_a and_o lively_o feel_v of_o the_o heart_n because_o he_o have_v taste_v the_o rigour_n of_o god_n judgement_n now_o in_o the_o end_n be_v add_v that_o he_o can_v humble_v they_o that_o walk_v in_o pride_n here_o nebuchadnezer_n do_v disclose_v his_o own_o sin_n and_o shame_n more_o plain_o and_o he_o be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o confess_v his_o fault_n before_o the_o whole_a world_n sing_v that_o the_o punishment_n be_v evident_a wherefore_o like_a as_o god_n will_v have_v his_o madness_n to_o be_v detest_v of_o all_o man_n when_o he_o execute_v such_o a_o terrible_a example_n of_o so_o horrible_a a_o punishment_n upon_o he_o so_o do_v nebuchadnezer_n now_o come_v forth_o and_o testify_v that_o he_o do_v worthy_o suffer_v this_o so_o grevous_a punishment_n because_o in_o deed_n he_o be_v to_o proud_a and_o here_o do_v we_o see_v the_o power_n of_o god_n join_v with_o his_o justice_n judgement_n straight_o way_n after_o he_o say_v of_o himself_o that_o he_o be_v proud_a wherefore_o he_o doubt_v not_o to_o set_v forth_o his_o shame_n before_o man_n that_o he_o may_v glorify_v god_n the_o proud_a this_o be_v one_o kind_n of_o humble_v which_o have_v no_o fruit_n unless_o the_o lord_n do_v afterward_o govern_v we_o with_o his_o spirit_n of_o humility_n thus_o nebuchadnezer_n do_v not_o here_o comprehend_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n which_o yet_o shall_v have_v have_v the_o chief_a praise_n neither_o yet_o do_v he_o describe_v in_o this_o decree_n whatsoever_o be_v to_o be_v
