that_o he_o will_v give_v the_o spirit_n to_o they_o that_o ask_v he_o labour_n by_o these_o and_o such_o like_a mean_n for_o the_o spirit_n and_o then_o if_o you_o have_v the_o spirit_n the_o earnest_a of_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o seal_n of_o the_o spirit_n then_o mark_v what_o will_v come_v of_o such_o a_o temper_n of_o soul_n that_o will_v go_v through_o all_o condition_n whatsoever_o come_v what_o will_v for_o the_o spirit_n be_v above_o all_o and_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v above_o all_o earthly_a comfort_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v able_a to_o encounter_v with_o all_o temptation_n so_o that_o a_o man_n that_o have_v the_o spirit_n stand_v impregnable_a the_o work_n of_o grace_n impregnable_a can_v be_v quench_v because_o it_o be_v the_o effect_n and_o the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n all_o the_o power_n of_o all_o the_o devil_n in_o hell_n can_v stir_v it_o god_n may_v hide_v his_o comfort_n for_o a_o time_n to_o humble_v we_o but_o to_o quench_v the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n once_o wrought_v in_o the_o heart_n all_o the_o power_n of_o all_o the_o devil_n in_o hell_n can_v quench_v the_o least_o spark_n of_o save_a grace_n it_o will_v carry_v we_o through_o all_o opposition_n whatsoever_o let_v a_o man_n never_o balk_v or_o decline_v in_o a_o good_a cause_n for_o any_o thing_n that_o he_o shall_v suffer_v for_o the_o seal_n and_o the_o earnest_a of_o the_o spirit_n be_v never_o more_o strong_a than_o when_o we_o have_v no_o other_o comfort_n by_o we_o but_o that_o when_o we_o can_v draw_v comfort_n from_o the_o wellhead_n from_o the_o spring_n therefore_o we_o shall_v labour_v for_o the_o earnest_a of_o the_o spirit_n for_o it_o will_v fit_v we_o for_o all_o condition_n whatsoever_o what_o make_v a_o man_n differ_v from_o himself_o what_o make_v a_o man_n differ_v from_o another_o take_v a_o man_n that_o have_v the_o earnest_a of_o the_o spirit_n you_o shall_v have_v he_o defy_v death_n the_o world_n satan_n and_o all_o temptation_n take_v a_o man_n that_o be_v negligent_a in_o labour_v to_o increase_v his_o earnest_n you_o shall_v have_v he_o weak_a and_o not_o like_o himself_o the_o apostle_n to_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o will_v speak_v to_o god_n for_o we_o the_o spirit_n will_v make_v request_n with_o sigh_n and_o groan_n and_o god_n will_v hear_v the_o voice_n of_o his_o own_o spirit_n what_o prison_n can_v shut_v up_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n above_o all_o labour_v to_o have_v more_o of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n this_o will_v make_v we_o more_o or_o less_o fruitful_a more_o or_o less_o glorious_a in_o our_o profession_n more_o or_o less_o willing_a to_o die_v labour_v to_o increase_v this_o earnest_n that_o the_o near_o we_o come_v to_o heaven_n the_o more_o we_o may_v be_v fit_v for_o it_o consider_v but_o this_o reason_n if_o you_o want_v this_o alas_o we_o can_v never_o be_v thankful_a spirit_n to_o god_n for_o any_o thing_n if_o by_o the_o spirit_n we_o spirit_n that_o we_o may_v be_v thankful_a to_o god_n for_o every_o thing_n that_o we_o may_v see_v the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o every_o thing_n in_o every_o refresh_n we_o take_v that_o that_o love_n of_o god_n that_o fit_v we_o for_o heaven_n and_o that_o fit_v heaven_n for_o we_o it_o give_v we_o daily_a bread_n the_o earnest_a of_o the_o spirit_n will_v make_v we_o thankful_a for_o every_o thing_n again_o labour_n for_o the_o earnest_a of_o the_o spirit_n that_o we_o may_v be_v joyful_a in_o spirit_n all_o condition_n how_o can_v a_o man_n suffer_v willing_o that_o know_v not_o that_o of_o his_o lust_n so_o that_o none_o can_v resist_v temptation_n but_o he_o that_o have_v the_o spirit_n give_v he_o earnest_a in_o a_o comfortable_a measure_n and_o it_o be_v a_o good_a sign_n when_o we_o resist_v temptation_n for_o spiritual_a reason_n that_o the_o spirit_n work_v it_o again_o unless_o we_o have_v this_o earnest_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o our_o heart_n we_o can_v it_o never_o be_v content_a to_o end_v our_o day_n with_o comfort_n he_o that_o have_v the_o earnest_a of_o the_o spirit_n be_v glad_a of_o death_n when_o it_o come_v there_o shall_v be_v then_o a_o comforter_n what_o shall_v we_o think_v of_o curse_a spirit_n that_o insult_v over_o other_o misery_n that_o give_v they_o gall_n to_o eat_v and_o vinegar_n to_o drink_v that_o add_v affliction_n to_o the_o afflict_a what_o shall_v we_o say_v to_o barren_a spirit_n that_o have_v not_o a_o word_n of_o comfort_n to_o say_v but_o come_v in_o a_o profane_a and_o dead_a manner_n i_o be_o sorry_a to_o see_v you_o thus_o and_o i_o hope_v you_o will_v be_v better_a barren_a soul_n as_o the_o wilderness_n what_o a_o member_n of_o christ_n of_o the_o communion_n of_o saint_n and_o no_o way_n furnish_v no_o word_n of_o comfort_n to_o a_o distress_a soul_n we_o may_v know_v the_o comfort_n we_o have_v ourselves_o to_o be_v comfort_n indeed_o and_o from_o the_o grace_n and_o favour_n of_o god_n when_o we_o have_v heart_n enlarge_v to_o do_v good_a to_o other_o with_o it_o how_o do_v gift_n and_o grace_n differ_v to_o add_v that_o useful_a distinction_n and_o grace_n man_n may_v have_v a_o great_a many_o gift_n and_o be_v proud_a and_o full_a of_o envy_n and_o have_v a_o devilish_a poysonful_a spirit_n to_o draw_v all_o to_o himself_o and_o not_o be_v good_a but_o be_v carry_v with_o self-love_n and_o die_v a_o devil_n notwithstanding_o his_o excellent_a part_n why_o here_o be_v such_o gift_n and_o part_n but_o there_o be_v a_o bitter_a root_n of_o self-love_n to_o draw_v all_o to_o himself_o to_o deify_v himself_o to_o make_v a_o idol_n of_o himself_o but_o grace_n with_o gift_n work_v otherwise_o that_o turn_v all_o by_o a_o spirit_n of_o love_n and_o humility_n to_o the_o good_a of_o other_o there_o be_v no_o envy_n in_o a_o gracious_a heart_n so_o far_o forth_o as_o it_o be_v gracious_a there_o be_v no_o pride_n nor_o scorn_v to_o do_v good_a to_o other_o how_o shall_v we_o distinguish_v man_n part_n of_o excellent_a part_n whether_o they_o be_v christian_n or_o not_o christian_n they_o have_v both_o of_o they_o wit_n and_o memory_n they_o have_v both_o courage_n ay_o but_o whether_o of_o they_o improve_v their_o part_n and_o ability_n most_o to_o the_o good_a of_o other_o whether_o of_o they_o have_v the_o most_o humble_a spirit_n the_o most_o love_a spirit_n the_o most_o discreet_a spirit_n to_o be_v witty_a to_o do_v other_o to_o good_a upon_o all_o advantage_n there_o be_v the_o christian_n that_o have_v god_n grace_n with_o his_o gift_n but_o for_o the_o other_o knowledge_n puff_v up_o say_v the_o apostle_n what_o edify_v and_o build_v up_o love_n edifi_v knowledge_n gather_v many_o material_n stone_n and_o timber_n etc._n etc._n what_o build_v the_o house_n the_o body_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v a_o love_a and_o humble_a spirit_n therefore_o let_v we_o think_v that_o we_o have_v nothing_o in_o christianity_n by_o any_o part_n neither_o do_v he_o wait_v for_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o that_o that_o shall_v be_v bestow_v on_o saint_n because_o he_o have_v his_o portion_n here_o therefore_o those_o that_o can_v mourn_v for_o their_o corruption_n for_o those_o thing_n which_o the_o world_n be_v not_o able_a to_o tax_v they_o for_o because_o they_o can_v serve_v god_n with_o enlargement_n of_o the_o spirit_n as_o they_o will_v and_o they_o wait_v also_o without_o despair_n or_o without_o discouragement_n till_o god_n have_v finish_v their_o course_n they_o be_v lead_v with_o a_o better_a spirit_n than_o the_o world_n though_o i_o shall_v name_v no_o more_o what_o a_o many_o sweet_a evidence_n be_v here_o to_o manifest_v a_o soul_n true_o act_v and_o guide_v and_o lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n but_o these_o shall_v be_v sufficient_a for_o this_o time_n well_o then_o if_o the_o spirit_n do_v all_o if_o the_o spirit_n anoint_v and_o seal_v and_o give_v earnest_a of_o grace_n and_o comfort_n and_o all_o till_o he_o bring_v we_o to_o heaven_n be_v christ_n vicar_n for_o christ_n have_v no_o other_o vicar_n on_o earth_n but_o his_o spirit_n if_o the_o spirit_n do_v all_o as_o indeed_o he_o do_v all_o those_o thing_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v sanctify_v we_o for_o that_o end_n at_o all_o time_n when_o we_o have_v liberty_n from_o our_o calling_n and_o withal_o take_v heed_n that_o we_o judicious_a christian_a to_o encourage_v we_o to_o labour_v for_o the_o spirit_n above_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n all_o other_o be_v but_o grass_n but_o fade_v but_o grace_n and_o glory_n grace_n and_o peace_n and_o joy_n nay_o the_o very_a earnest_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v better_a than_o all_o earthly_a thing_n for_o the_o earnest_a of_o it_o be_v joy_n unspeakable_a and_o glorious_a and_o peace_n that_o pass_v all_o understanding_n if_o the_o promise_n and_o the_o earnest_a here_o be_v so_o i_o beseech_v you_o what_o shall_v the_o accomplishment_n of_o the_o promise_n clear_a passage_n for_o himself_o into_o the_o heart_n of_o these_o corinthian_n by_o all_o mean_v possible_a as_o we_o hear_v in_o part_n out_o of_o the_o 17._o verse_n moreover_o i_o call_v god_n to_o record_v etc._n etc._n saint_n paul_n be_v here_o purge_v himself_o still_o to_o clear_v himself_o first_o he_o labour_v to_o clear_v himself_o from_o the_o suspicion_n of_o inconstancy_n and_o verse_n want_v of_o love_n to_o they_o in_o not_o come_v second_o he_o set_v down_o the_o true_a cause_n why_o he_o do_v not_o come_v i_o come_v not_o to_o spare_v you_o you_o be_v much_o to_o blame_v in_o many_o thing_n and_o among_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o abomination_n among_o you_o you_o cherish_v the_o incestuous_a person_n and_o many_o of_o you_o doubt_v of_o the_o resurrection_n i_o shall_v have_v be_v very_o severe_a if_o i_o have_v come_v therefore_o i_o come_v net_n to_o spare_v you_o hope_v that_o my_o letter_n will_v work_v upon_o your_o spirit_n so_o that_o i_o need_v not_o be_v severe_a to_o you_o therefore_o do_v not_o suspect_v that_o for_o any_o ill_a mind_n i_o come_v not_o for_o it_o be_v to_o spare_v you_o that_o i_o may_v not_o be_v force_v to_o be_v severe_a then_o the_o three_o thing_n be_v the_o seal_n of_o this_o speech_n with_o a_o serious_a oath_n i_o call_v god_n for_o record_n upon_o my_o soul_n that_o i_o come_v not_o to_o spare_v you_o so_o here_o be_v these_o two_o thing_n brief_o first_o that_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n be_v incline_v to_o suspicion_n and_o second_o that_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o man_n to_o avoid_v it_o as_o much_o as_o may_v be_v and_o to_o wipe_v it_o away_o if_o it_o can_v be_v avoid_v man_n nature_n be_v prone_a to_o suspicion_n man_n nature_n be_v prone_a to_o suspect_v ill_o of_o another_o though_o never_o so_o shall_v be_v open_a and_o you_o shall_v be_v as_o god_n know_v good_a and_o evil_n do_v you_o think_v that_o he_o intend_v you_o any_o good_a in_o forbid_v you_o to_o eat_v &_o c_o he_o do_v not_o spare_v christ_n innocency_n itself_o clothe_v with_o man_n flesh_n and_o will_v he_o spare_v to_o bring_v uncharitable_a suspicion_n upon_o other_o sure_o he_o will_v not_o and_o then_o man_n nature_n of_o itself_o be_v prone_a to_o suspect_v and_o think_v ill_a of_o another_o from_o many_o ground_n sometime_o out_o of_o experience_n of_o the_o common_a infirmity_n thnt_v man_n meet_v suspicion_n with_o in_o the_o world_n out_o of_o the_o experience_n of_o the_o falsehood_n of_o man_n they_o be_v many_o time_n prone_a to_o suspicion_n man_n but_o most_o common_o it_o be_v out_o of_o guiltiness_n that_o man_n think_v ill_a of_o other_o because_o other_o have_v cause_n to_o think_v ill_o of_o they_o none_o be_v so_o prone_a to_o suspicion_n guiltiness_n as_o those_o that_o be_v worst_a themselves_o because_o they_o judge_v other_o by_o their_o own_o heart_n the_o better_a sort_n of_o people_n think_v of_o other_o as_o they_o be_v and_o as_o they_o deserve_v themselves_o but_o other_o because_o they_o be_v naught_o they_o think_v other_o be_v so_o because_o they_o deserve_v ill_a they_o think_v other_o have_v deserve_v a_o ill_a opinion_n of_o they_o so_o many_o time_n it_o come_v of_o guilt_n because_o we_o be_v not_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v then_o again_o it_o arise_v from_o a_o guilty_a conscience_n in_o another_o respect_n we_o think_v because_o man_n have_v cause_n though_o they_o have_v no_o wrong_n to_o themselves_o yet_o because_o our_o own_o heart_n tell_v we_o we_o be_v ill_a we_o suspect_v they_o so_o from_o a_o uncharitable_a disposition_n
