there_o he_o show_v in_o many_o word_n what_o perplexity_n he_o be_v in_o when_o he_o be_v negligent_a in_o search_v out_o his_o corruption_n and_o his_o heart_n have_v make_v a_o kind_n of_o but_o be_v esteem_v to_o be_v a_o vain_a and_o sinful_a worship_n and_o the_o same_o detestation_n of_o such_o hypocritical_a serve_v of_o he_o the_o lord_n show_v in_o a_o other_o place_n of_o this_o prophecy_n where_o first_o he_o declare_v what_o kind_n of_o worshipper_n he_o require_v and_o delight_v in_o 66.2.3_o isa_n 66.2.3_o to_o he_o will_v i_o look_v say_v he_o even_o to_o he_o that_o to_o a_o idol_n and_o bless_v it_o it_o be_v as_o hateful_a and_o loathsome_a in_o god_n eye_n as_o the_o most_o vile_a and_o monstrous_a idolatry_n that_o be_v for_o he_o require_v of_o they_o in_o those_o outward_a oblation_n that_o they_o shall_v have_v spiritual_a affection_n note_v without_o which_o the_o other_o be_v so_o far_o from_o please_v he_o that_o they_o grievous_o provoke_v he_o he_o that_o do_v bring_v a_o beast_n to_o be_v kill_v be_v thereby_o to_o profess_v before_o the_o priest_n that_o he_o deserve_v for_o his_o transgression_n to_o be_v kill_v himself_o now_o when_o be_v if_o we_o do_v not_o give_v he_o our_o heart_n all_o be_v nothing_o worth_a judas_n deal_v best_o with_o christ_n of_o all_o the_o disciple_n in_o appearance_n for_o when_o all_o shrink_v from_o he_o he_o stick_v to_o he_o come_v and_o bow_v himself_o before_o he_o salute_v and_o kiss_v he_o who_o will_v not_o say_v now_o have_v he_o not_o be_v privy_a to_o judas_n his_o heart_n that_o he_o hollow-hearted_a diffembler_n but_o even_o of_o those_o that_o have_v some_o sparkle_n of_o grace_n in_o their_o heart_n nay_o of_o the_o best_a that_o live_v upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n for_o none_o can_v say_v he_o be_v innocent_a in_o this_o point_n but_o at_o one_o time_n or_o other_o in_o one_o duty_n or_o other_o he_o have_v fail_v more_o or_o less_o if_o not_o in_o the_o matter_n yet_o in_o the_o manner_n of_o perform_v the_o same_o this_o will_v be_v more_o evident_o see_v in_o the_o particular_n and_o therefore_o my_o purpose_n be_v to_o speak_v of_o 4._o kind_n either_o do_v nothing_o at_o all_o or_o very_o little_a in_o comparison_n of_o that_o they_o may_v and_o ought_v to_o do_v such_o must_v remember_v that_o they_o shall_v serve_v the_o lord_n christ_n in_o their_o place_n who_o fiery_a eye_n be_v still_o upon_o they_o to_o reward_v they_o if_o they_o be_v industrious_a and_o painful_a and_o to_o punish_v they_o if_o they_o be_v careless_a idle_a and_o wasteful_a four_o and_o last_o for_o our_o recreation_n which_o be_v lawful_a and_o warrantable_a in_o themselves_o recreation_n recreation_n yet_o see_v they_o be_v mingle_v with_o many_o horrible_a corruption_n by_o the_o user_n or_o rather_o by_o the_o abuser_n of_o they_o we_o must_v be_v likewise_o careful_a to_o put_v away_o the_o evil_n of_o they_o as_o first_o thereof_o corruption_n thereof_o the_o evil_a end_n that_o be_v propound_v by_o those_o that_o be_v much_o addict_v thereunto_o and_o what_o be_v that_o for_o the_o most_o part_n not_o to_o refresh_v themselves_o but_o to_o glean_v money_n from_o their_o companion_n unto_o which_o they_o have_v no_o right_n at_o all_o they_o the_o evil_a end_n of_o they_o either_o by_o god_n law_n or_o by_o man_n neither_o shall_v they_o ever_o be_v able_a to_o answer_v the_o lose_n or_o get_v of_o such_o money_n before_o god_n judgement_n seat_n yet_o that_o be_v the_o devil_n sauce_n whereby_o their_o recreation_n be_v usual_o sweeten_v which_o else_o will_v not_o be_v so_o well_o please_v unto_o their_o fleshly_a taste_n which_o be_v a_o sufficient_a argument_n to_o confirm_v the_o unlawfulnesse_n of_o such_o exercise_n to_o those_o that_o so_o use_v they_o because_o that_o this_o mixture_n with_o all_o note_v or_o most_o of_o their_o game_n and_o sport_n be_v that_o which_o the_o worst_a do_v most_o delight_n in_o and_o without_o it_o count_v their_o recreation_n but_o a_o idle_a thing_n nay_o a_o mere_a vexation_n and_o torture_n a_o second_o mischief_n that_o usual_o accompany_v such_o exercise_n time_n mispend_v of_o time_n be_v mispend_v of_o too_o much_o time_n in_o their_o vain_a delight_n which_o may_v well_o be_v call_v vain_a when_o they_o either_o whole_o or_o for_o the_o most_o part_n hinder_v man_n from_o god_n service_n and_o from_o the_o work_n of_o their_o calling_n and_o make_v they_o altogether_o vain_a &_o idle_a &_o unprofitable_a burden_n of_o the_o earth_n satan_n that_o old_a serpent_n who_o they_o serve_v that_o be_v thus_o in_o bondage_n to_o their_o fond_a and_o wretched_a lust_n have_v many_o cunning_a wile_n and_o crafty_a fetch_n both_o to_o allure_v they_o into_o his_o snare_n and_o to_o hold_v they_o fast_o when_o he_o have_v entangle_v they_o and_o this_o be_v one_o among_o the_o rest_n note_v that_o when_o one_o get_v and_o feel_v it_o come_v he_o stir_v up_o in_o he_o such_o a_o lust_n after_o gold_n and_o silver_n or_o whatsoever_o they_o play_v for_o that_o they_o can_v make_v a_o end_n in_o any_o time_n and_o if_o any_o one_o loose_a he_o persuade_v he_o though_o indeed_o there_o need_v not_o any_o great_a ado_n to_o persuade_v they_o their_o own_o corruption_n carry_v too_o great_a a_o sway_n over_o they_o in_o this_o respect_n to_o play_v one_o game_n more_o to_o try_v if_o they_o can_v recover_v that_o which_o they_o have_v lose_v and_o not_o to_o let_v the_o winner_n give_v over_o with_o such_o damage_n unto_o they_o and_o advantage_n unto_o themselves_o and_o so_o let_v slip_v many_o a_o precious_a hour_n wherein_o if_o they_o be_v well_o busy_v they_o may_v get_v moregood_a unto_o their_o soul_n than_o all_o the_o world_n be_v worth_a and_o as_o in_o game_n so_o in_o other_o pastime_n as_o they_o call_v they_o they_o be_v so_o excessive_a in_o respect_n of_o time_n that_o in_o steed_n of_o the_o right_a end_n of_o they_o which_o be_v to_o quicken_v and_o revive_v the_o spirit_n and_o to_o fit_a man_n for_o matter_n of_o great_a importance_n they_o pervert_v they_o to_o a_o quite_o contrary_a end_n and_o make_v they_o mean_n to_o weary_a and_o tire_v out_o themselves_o so_o that_o they_o be_v for_o that_o day_n utter_o disable_v for_o any_o work_n of_o religion_n or_o of_o their_o calling_n yet_o it_o be_v strange_a to_o hear_v how_o those_o that_o carry_v the_o name_n and_o profession_n of_o christianity_n will_v shift_v off_o every_o wholesome_a admonition_n and_o rebuke_n that_o be_v bring_v against_o they_o with_o this_o what_o will_v you_o not_o allow_v we_o recreation_n but_o it_o may_v be_v demand_v of_o many_o of_o they_o to_o their_o shame_n what_o be_v your_o vocation_n that_o talk_v so_o much_o of_o recreation_n what_o sore_a labour_n have_v you_o undertake_v so_o to_o weary_v you_o that_o you_o shall_v stand_v in_o need_n of_o so_o much_o refresh_v in_o truth_n if_o thing_n be_v well_o examine_v we_o shall_v find_v that_o such_o make_v their_o sport_n to_o be_v their_o vocation_n if_o they_o have_v any_o at_o all_o not_o their_o recreation_n for_o they_o do_v nothing_o else_o or_o very_o little_a else_o but_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o sleep_v and_o play_v and_o so_o consume_v their_o day_n and_o spend_v the_o great_a part_n of_o their_o life_n like_o epicure_n that_o dream_n of_o no_o other_o happiness_n but_o of_o follow_v their_o delight_n and_o give_v themselves_o over_o to_o beastly_a voluptuousness_n and_o sensuality_n and_o whereas_o recreation_n shall_v be_v use_v only_o as_o physic_n they_o make_v it_o their_o ordinary_a diet_n if_o we_o shall_v hear_v a_o man_n always_o inquire_v after_o skilful_a physician_n note_v and_o call_v for_o nothing_o else_o but_o physic_n physic_n we_o will_v present_o conclude_v certain_o this_o man_n have_v a_o very_a sickly_a body_n and_o what_o else_o can_v we_o think_v of_o those_o man_n that_o be_v still_o follow_v after_o vain_a delight_n and_o in_o who_o mouth_n there_o be_v nothing_o so_o usual_a as_o recreation_n recreation_n what_o else_o i_o say_v can_v we_o think_v of_o they_o but_o this_o sure_o these_o man_n have_v very_o sickly_a soul_n there_o be_v very_o little_a inward_a joy_n and_o spiritual_a contentment_n in_o that_o heart_n where_o so_o much_o be_v seek_v for_o from_o these_o external_a thing_n a_o three_o evil_a in_o recreation_n be_v inward_a fret_a and_o outward_a chase_n especial_o when_o they_o breathe_v out_o monstrous_a
