the_o right_n of_o the_o temple_n no_o publican_n or_o exacter_n of_o tribute_n but_o our_o bless_a saviour_n assure_v we_o that_o there_o be_v no_o hope_n of_o heaven_n for_o we_o unless_o our_o righteousness_n exceed_v this_o of_o they_o now_o then_o to_o apply_v this_o to_o the_o present_a argument_n suppose_v a_o vicious_a person_n who_o have_v live_v a_o impious_a life_n place_v upon_o his_o deathbed_n exhort_v to_o repentance_n make_v sensible_a of_o his_o danger_n invite_v by_o the_o sermon_n of_o his_o priest_n to_o dress_v his_o soul_n with_o duty_n and_o sorrow_n if_o he_o obey_v and_o be_v sorry_a for_o his_o sin_n suppose_v that_o this_o sorrow_n do_v real_o begin_v that_o part_n of_o his_o duty_n which_o consist_v in_o not_o sin_v nay_o suppose_v he_o will_v never_o sin_v again_o which_o be_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n yet_o how_o can_v he_o in_o that_o case_n do_v that_o good_a which_o be_v require_v by_o the_o gospel_n seek_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n and_o the_o righteousness_n thereof_o the_o gospel_n have_v a_o peculiar_a righteousness_n of_o its_o own_o proper_a to_o itself_o without_o which_o there_o be_v no_o entrance_n into_o heaven_n but_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n be_v call_v our_o own_o righteousness_n that_o be_v such_o a_o righteousness_n which_o man_n by_o nature_n know_v for_o we_o all_o by_o the_o innate_a law_n of_o nature_n know_v that_o we_o ought_v to_o abstain_v from_o do_v injury_n to_o man_n from_o impiety_n to_o god_n but_o we_o only_o know_v by_o revelation_n the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o kingdom_n which_o consist_v in_o holiness_n and_o purity_n chastity_n and_o patience_n humility_n and_o self-denial_n he_o that_o rest_v in_o the_o first_o and_o think_v he_o may_v be_v save_v by_o it_o as_o s._n paul_n expression_n be_v he_o establish_v his_o own_o righteousness_n that_o be_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n and_o this_o he_o do_v whosoever_o think_v that_o his_o can_v say_v the_o good_a which_o i_o will_v i_o do_v regular_o and_o ordinary_o and_o the_o evil_n which_o i_o hate_v i_o do_v avoid_v sometime_o indeed_o i_o be_o surprise_v and_o when_o i_o do_v neglect_n to_o use_v the_o aid_n and_o strength_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n i_o fall_v but_o this_o be_v because_o i_o will_v not_o and_o not_o because_o i_o can_v help_v it_o and_o in_o this_o case_n the_o man_n be_v not_o a_o servant_n or_o captive_a of_o sin_n but_o a_o servant_n of_o christ_n though_o weak_a and_o imperfect_a but_o if_o it_o mean_v i_o do_v it_o common_o or_o constant_o or_o frequent_o which_o be_v certain_o the_o complaint_n here_o make_v then_o to_o be_v a_o regenerate_a person_n be_v to_o be_v a_o vile_a person_n sell_v under_o sin_n and_o not_o god_n servant_n for_o if_o any_o man_n shall_v suppose_v these_o word_n to_o mean_v only_o thus_o i_o do_v not_o do_v so_o much_o good_a as_o i_o will_v and_o do_v sometime_o fall_v into_o evil_n though_o i_o will_v fain_o be_v entire_o innocent_a indeed_o this_o man_n teach_v no_o false_a doctrine_n as_o to_o the_o state_n or_o duty_n of_o the_o regenerate_a which_o in_o this_o life_n will_v for_o ever_o be_v a_o state_n of_o death_n of_o be_v kill_v by_o sin_n of_o be_v captivate_v and_o sell_v under_o sin_n after_o the_o manner_n of_o slave_n as_o will_n further_o appear_v in_o the_o sequel_n 3._o
