he_o admonish_v to_o consider_v how_o wholesome_a and_o profitable_a it_o be_v to_o relieve_v the_o needy_a and_o help_v the_o afflict_a by_o the_o which_o we_o may_v purge_v our_o sin_n and_o heal_v our_o wound_a soul_n but_o yet_o some_o will_v say_v unto_o i_o if_o almsgiving_n and_o our_o charitable_a work_n towards_o the_o poor_a be_v able_a to_o wash_v away_o sin_n to_o reconcile_v we_o to_o god_n to_o deliver_v we_o from_o the_o peril_n of_o damnation_n and_o make_v we_o the_o son_n and_o heir_n of_o god_n kingdom_n then_o be_v christ_n merit_n deface_v and_o his_o blood_n shed_v in_o vain_a then_o be_v we_o justify_v by_o work_n and_o by_o our_o deed_n may_v we_o merit_v heaven_n then_o do_v we_o in_o vain_a believe_v that_o christ_n die_v for_o to_o put_v away_o our_o sin_n and_o that_o he_o rise_v for_o our_o justification_n as_o st._n paul_n teach_v but_o you_o shall_v understand_v dear_o belove_v that_o neither_o those_o place_n of_o the_o scripture_n before_o allege_v neither_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o bless_a martyr_n cyprian_n neither_o any_o other_o godly_a and_o learned_a man_n when_o they_o in_o extol_v the_o dignity_n profit_n fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o virtuous_a and_o liberal_a alm_n do_v say_v that_o it_o wash_v away_o sin_n and_o bring_v we_o to_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n do_v mean_a that_o our_o work_n and_o charitable_a deed_n be_v the_o original_a cause_n of_o our_o acception_n before_o god_n or_o that_o for_o the_o digninity_n or_o worthiness_n thereof_o our_o sin_n may_v be_v wash_v away_o and_o we_o purge_v and_o cleanse_v of_o all_o the_o spot_n of_o our_o iniquity_n for_o that_o be_v indeed_o to_o deface_v christ_n and_o to_o defraud_v he_o of_o his_o glory_n but_o they_o mean_v this_o and_o this_o be_v the_o understanding_n of_o those_o and_o such_o like_a say_n that_o god_n of_o his_o mercy_n and_o special_a favour_n towards_o they_o who_o he_o have_v appoint_v to_o everlasting_a salvation_n have_v so_o offer_v his_o grace_n especial_o and_o they_o have_v so_o receive_v it_o fruitful_o that_o although_o by_o reason_n of_o their_o sinful_a live_n outward_o they_o seem_v before_o to_o have_v be_v the_o child_n of_o wrath_n and_o perdition_n yet_o now_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n mighty_o work_v in_o they_o unto_o obedience_n to_o god_n will_v and_o commandment_n they_o declare_v by_o their_o outward_a deed_n and_o life_n in_o the_o show_n of_o
