for_o obtain_v further_a mercy_n or_o else_o we_o look_v upon_o they_o as_o distinct_a duty_n they_o be_v proper_a enough_o but_o not_o always_o necessary_a to_o be_v join_v with_o this_o duty_n antichrist_n kingdom_n this_o notwithstanding_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o pray_v express_o as_o we_o be_v strengthen_v and_o assist_v by_o the_o holy_a spirit_n as_o well_o for_o these_o as_o against_o those_o and_o against_o those_o as_o well_o as_o for_o these_o although_o implicit_o he_o that_o pray_v for_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n pray_v against_o sin_n and_o satan_n see_v psal_n 119._o turn_v away_o my_o eye_n from_o behold_v vanity_n etc._n etc._n likewise_o when_o we_o pray_v thus_o general_o in_o these_o word_n of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n we_o do_v implicit_o pray_v for_o they_o c._n 1.17_o that_o god_n will_v give_v they_o the_o spirit_n of_o wisdom_n and_o revelation_n in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o he_o that_o their_o understanding_n be_v enlighten_v they_o may_v know_v what_o be_v the_o hope_n of_o his_o call_n and_o what_o the_o riches_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o inheritance_n in_o the_o saint_n and_o what_o be_v the_o exceed_a greatness_n of_o his_o power_n to_o us-ward_n who_o believe_v according_a to_o the_o work_n of_o his_o mighty_a power_n which_o he_o wrought_v in_o christ_n when_o he_o raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a and_o set_v he_o at_o for_o they_o so_o they_o do_v also_o desire_v their_o prayer_n i_o infer_v that_o every_o particular_a christian_a in_o his_o prayer_n must_v put_v in_o suit_n the_o general_a promise_n viz._n that_o all_o her_o people_n shall_v be_v holy_a all_o righteous_a all_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n and_o holiness_n to_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v write_v upon_o the_o bell_n of_o the_o horse_n they_o who_o pray_v for_o these_o spiritual_a gift_n and_o grace_n for_o themselves_o and_o other_o do_v pray_v in_o the_o spirit_n and_o seek_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o by_o their_o fervency_n and_o zeal_n and_o frequent_a address_n to_o god_n for_o they_o and_o for_o repress_v and_o subdue_a their_o opposite_n viz._n the_o sin_n which_o so_o easy_o beset_v they_o their_o iniquity_n and_o corruption_n they_o show_v forth_o their_o weariness_n of_o they_o and_o burden_n which_o load_v they_o from_o which_o they_o groan_v and_o cry_v to_o be_v ease_v and_o deliver_v by_o god_n because_o they_o be_v not_o able_a by_o all_o they_o can_v do_v to_o be_v deliver_v by_o their_o own_o industry_n and_o because_o our_o bless_a saviour_n have_v promise_v to_o ease_v such_o therefore_o they_o may_v be_v sure_a to_o be_v hear_v if_o they_o confess_v their_o particular_a burden_n of_o corruption_n whether_o it_o be_v pride_n
anger_n malice_n revenge_n covetousness_n lust_n concupiscence_n or_o the_o like_a and_o mourn_v over_o it_o humble_o entreat_v he_o to_o succour_v relieve_v help_v heal_v cleanse_v wash_v purge_v and_o purify_v they_o by_o the_o renew_n of_o the_o spirit_n or_o else_o as_o he_o answer_v st._n paul_n pray_v against_o the_o thorn_n in_o his_o flesh_n he_o will_v supply_v they_o with_o grace_n sufficient_a for_o they_o from_o these_o promise_n we_o may_v see_v the_o reason_n why_o our_o bless_a saviour_n in_o that_o form_n of_o prayer_n teach_v we_o to_o pray_v in_o the_o plural_a number_n our_o and_z we_o for_o this_o include_v ourselves_o and_o our_o fellow-member_n of_o the_o mystical_a body_n of_o christ_n some_o whereof_z be_v but_o babe_n or_o child_n in_o religion_n and_o can_v pray_v for_o themselves_o as_o not_o have_v receive_v so_o great_a measure_n of_o the_o spirit_n so_o that_o they_o have_v need_n of_o our_o prayer_n and_o our_o charity_n include_v they_o do_v not_o hinder_v our_o request_n for_o ourselves_o but_o rather_o promote_v they_o we_o see_v also_o why_o sometime_o they_o pray_v more_o particular_o but_o for_o themselves_o as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n for_o which_o particular_a grace_n we_o may_v upon_o occasion_n pray_v in_o the_o behalf_n of_o other_o according_a to_o that_o precept_n of_o the_o apostle_n if_o any_o man_n see_v his_o brother_n sin_n a_o sin_n which_o be_v not_o unto_o death_n he_o shall_v pray_v for_o he_o and_o it_o shall_v be_v forgive_v he_o likewise_o may_v we_o pray_v for_o the_o deliverance_n of_o they_o from_o their_o affliction_n and_o peril_n which_o they_o lie_v under_o as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n desire_v the_o saint_n to_o who_o he_o write_v to_o pray_v for_o his_o deliverance_n for_o nature_n dictate_v these_o prayer_n for_o ourselves_o but_o grace_n for_o other_o that_o be_v our_o brethren_n in_o christ_n the_o hope_n of_o speed_v be_v that_o which_o incourage_v and_o excite_v with_o strength_n and_o courage_n in_o every_o undertake_n we_o go_v about_o if_o we_o seek_v of_o god_n in_o prayer_n the_o thing_n which_o be_v according_a to_o his_o will_n those_o gift_n and_o grace_n and_o improvement_n which_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o give_v those_o thing_n which_o he_o have_v invite_v we_o to_o ask_v or_o command_v we_o to_o ask_v those_o that_o our_o saviour_n and_o his_o apostle_n have_v teach_v we_o to_o ask_v those_o which_o the_o experience_n of_o other_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n prove_v to_o be_v acceptable_a and_o proper_a request_n those_o grace_n which_o we_o be_v command_v to_o have_v those_o degree_n of_o grace_n and_o those_o mean_n which_o we_o be_v command_v to_o use_v and_o those_o spiritual_a joy_n and_o enjoyment_n which_o we_o long_o for_o and_o can_v be_v happy_a without_o why_o shall_v we_o doubt_v of_o our_o success_n or_o why_o shall_v we_o not_o expect_v a_o quick_a return_n let_v we_o then_o apply_v ourselves_o to_o seek_v out_o those_o thing_n as_o the_o original_n of_o all_o grace_n we_o first_o be_v teach_v by_o our_o saviour_n to_o pray_v to_o god_n to_o give_v we_o the_o holy_a spirit_n and_o he_o that_o obtain_v this_o obtain_v also_o the_o fruit_n of_o it_o love_n joy_n peace_n meekness_n gentleness_n patience_n etc._n etc._n and_o all_o grace_n whatsoever_o for_o as_o the_o lord_n teach_v we_o our_o whole_a duty_n in_o one_o word_n viz._n love_n so_o here_o he_o teach_v we_o in_o one_o word_n the_o sum_n of_o all_o we_o need_v to_o pray_v for_o for_o although_o we_o pray_v for_o many_o thing_n yet_o the_o sum_n of_o all_o spiritual_a thing_n be_v contain_v in_o this_o and_o if_o we_o seek_v the_o spiritual_a gift_n and_o grace_n which_o be_v signify_v in_o that_o expression_n seek_v you_o first_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o his_o righteousness_n the_o other_o thing_n shall_v be_v add_v unto_o we_o without_o seek_v in_o this_o also_o be_v sum_v up_o all_o that_o we_o ought_v to_o pray_v against_o viz._n all_o our_o spiritual_a enemy_n the_o lust_n of_o the_o flesh_n the_o lust_n of_o the_o eye_n and_o the_o pride_n of_o life_n and_o every_o thing_n that_o satan_n overcome_v the_o son_n of_o man_n withal_o this_o general_n be_v branch_v into_o six_o petition_n in_o the_o lord_n prayer_n for_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o we_o we_o be_v make_v holy_a the_o temple_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o be_v make_v capable_a to_o sanctify_v god_n holy_a name_n the_o love_n of_o god_n be_v spread_v abroad_o in_o our_o heart_n god_n law_n be_v write_v in_o our_o heart_n and_o put_v in_o our_o inward_a part_n by_o the_o mission_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n into_o we_o we_o all_o know_v he_o and_o know_v his_o judgement_n and_o do_v they_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o world_n become_v the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o of_o his_o christ_n righteousness_n will_v run_v down_o as_o a_o river_n and_o holiness_n to_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v write_v upon_o we_o and_o all_o our_o common_a thing_n every_o pot_n in_o jerusalem_n shall_v be_v like_o the_o bowl_n before_o the_o altar_n and_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v have_v the_o uttermost_a part_n of_o the_o earth_n for_o these_o promise_n when_o we_o pray_v these_o petition_n in_o the_o lord_n prayer_n likewise_o when_o we_o pray_v thy_o will_v be_v do_v we_o pray_v for_o the_o spirit_n to_o enable_v we_o to_o do_v it_o and_o we_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o the_o fulfil_n of_o those_o promise_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n which_o relate_v to_o it_o viz._n that_o god_n will_v be_v our_o god_n and_o we_o shall_v be_v his_o people_n that_o we_o shall_v run_v and_o not_o be_v weary_a walk_v and_o not_o faint_a mount_v up_o with_o wing_n like_o a_o eagle_n and_o renew_v our_o strength_n like_o a_o eagle_n that_o we_o shall_v be_v a_o willing_a people_n so_o in_o the_o other_o petition_n namely_o that_o for_o remission_n of_o sin_n we_o can_v be_v assure_v of_o it_o nor_o have_v peace_n of_o conscience_n but_o by_o the_o operation_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o our_o heart_n by_o faith_n exciting_a in_o we_o unfeigned_a sorrow_n for_o those_o sin_n wherewith_o we_o have_v grieve_v it_o and_o work_v in_o we_o a_o steadfast_a resolution_n and_o purpose_n never_o to_o commit_v the_o like_a again_o also_o when_o we_o pray_v against_o temptation_n it_o be_v intend_v that_o we_o crave_v this_o aid_n by_o the_o assistance_n of_o god_n holy_a spirit_n to_o escape_v they_o for_o thereby_o we_o be_v make_v sufficient_a and_o able_a to_o fly_v they_o or_o to_o overcome_v they_o and_o to_o be_v more_o than_o conqueror_n so_o that_o no_o spiritual_a weapon_n form_v against_o we_o shall_v proper_a and_o if_o god_n give_v we_o his_o holy_a spirit_n we_o obtain_v also_o the_o other_o petition_n namely_o to_o be_v deliver_v from_o evil_a and_o to_o enjoy_v food_n and_o raiment_n and_o all_o the_o necessary_n of_o life_n for_o these_o be_v inseparable_o contain_v in_o the_o privilege_n of_o the_o saint_n for_o god_n be_v a_o wall_n of_o fire_n round_o about_o they_o bread_n shall_v be_v give_v they_o and_o their_o water_n shall_v be_v sure_a so_o that_o petition_n also_o be_v by_o reason_n of_o the_o promise_n contain_v in_o that_o of_o ask_v the_o holy_a spirit_n the_o rather_o for_o this_o that_o all_o other_o promise_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n be_v employ_v in_o this_o this_o notwithstanding_o we_o find_v the_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n pray_v in_o other_o word_n and_o form_n and_o by_o the_o spirit_n too_o who_o assistance_n i_o humble_o crave_v for_o my_o further_a progress_n in_o these_o meditation_n certain_o when_o the_o holy_a spirit_n assist_v we_o in_o prayer_n it_o do_v not_o only_o enable_v we_o to_o say_v or_o pray_v in_o a_o perscribe_v form_n but_o dictate_v the_o word_n and_o thing_n pray_v for_o according_a to_o the_o necessity_n of_o the_o person_n pray_v and_o pray_v for_o although_o we_o be_v not_o under_o the_o law_n but_o under_o grace_n that_o be_v dead_a wherein_o we_o be_v hold_v that_o we_o shall_v henceforth_o serve_v god_n in_o the_o newness_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o not_o in_o the_o oldness_n of_o the_o necessity_n there_o be_v which_o may_v move_v we_o daily_o to_o the_o duty_n as_o namely_o the_o burden_n of_o those_o sin_n which_o lie_v upon_o our_o conscience_n which_o whosoever_o have_v feel_v
