be_v spirit_n in_o prison_n when_o preach_v to_o but_o that_o the_o spirit_n of_o thâ—se_a person_n be_v now_o in_o prison_n unto_o who_o noah_n preach_v while_o they_o live_v in_o the_o world_n and_o amount_v to_o no_o more_o than_o the_o acknowledgement_n of_o our_o endowment_n with_o natural_a ability_n by_o god_n who_o be_v our_o creator_n all_o these_o be_v from_o god_n in_o a_o way_n of_o nature_n but_o ability_n to_o believe_v and_o obey_v the_o gospel_n be_v from_o he_o in_o a_o way_n of_o special_a grace_n which_o be_v that_o we_o plead_v for_o and_o deny_v that_o a_o natural_a unregenerate_a man_n be_v capable_a of_o save_a knowledge_n of_o or_o yield_a obedience_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o the_o gospel_n otherwise_o then_o as_o a_o dead_a soul_n be_v capable_a of_o be_v quicken_v by_o the_o almighty_a power_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n this_o the_o scripture_n be_v full_a and_o express_v in_o i_o will_v instance_n in_o a_o text_n or_o two_o we_o read_v evident_o in_o his_o forego_n discourse_n and_o these_o when_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n spirit_n be_v propose_v to_o they_o receive_v they_o not_o but_o esteem_v they_o foolishness_n his_o three_o exception_n be_v plain_o ridiculous_a he_o say_v all_o where_o the_o gospel_n come_v shall_v understand_v and_o believe_v it_o but_o its_o thâ—se_a only_o that_o by_o the_o word_n and_o spirit_n of_o if_o we_o may_v suppose_v the_o ministry_n to_o go_v without_o the_o spirit_n work_v therein_o than_o we_o may_v suppose_v a_o pâ—ssibility_n in_o respect_n of_o power_n else_o man_n can_v not_o be_v condemn_v for_o not_o believe_v etc._n etc._n the_o absurd_a folly_n of_o his_o supposition_n that_o by_o our_o sin_n we_o out_o god_n short_a of_o right_a to_o command_v our_o obedience_n to_o his_o holy_a will_n as_o well_o as_o loose_v our_o power_n to_o obey_v have_v be_v already_o detect_v by_o this_o and_o what_o follow_v you_o may_v see_v what_o i_o say_v before_o that_o this_o man_n do_v not_o stick_v at_o the_o gross_a pelagianism_n but_o suppose_v man_n in_o his_o fall_a state_n by_o his_o corrupt_a mind_n and_o natural_a capacity_n without_o any_o work_n of_o god_n spirit_n upon_o he_o to_o be_v capable_a of_o discern_v believe_a and_o yield_v acceptable_a obedience_n to_o the_o revelation_n of_o god_n contain_v in_o the_o scripture_n of_o truth_n howbeit_o we_o have_v hear_v the_o scripture_n teach_v other_o doctrine_n and_o the_o apostle_n paul_n be_v so_o far_o from_o this_o proud_a conceit_n of_o himself_o that_o he_o confess_v the_o quite_o contrary_a viz._n 2_o cor._n 3._o 5._o that_o we_o be_v not_o sufficient_a of_o ourselves_o to_o think_v any_o thing_n as_o of_o ourselves_o but_o our_o sufficiency_n be_v of_o god_n i._n e._n it_o be_v of_o god_n in_o a_o distinct_a from_o christ_n and_o gospel_n grace_n we_o be_v not_o but_o by_o the_o help_v afford_v there_o be_v power_n both_o to_o will_v and_o to_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o the_o gospel_n it_o seem_v by_o these_o word_n of_o tho._n collier_n that_o he_o be_v conscious_a to_o himself_o that_o this_o text_n do_v overthrow_v his_o notion_n of_o the_o sufficiency_n of_o man_n without_o his_o book_n betwixt_o page_n so_o far_o distant_a as_o be_v 31._o from_o p._n 43._o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o marvel_n to_o find_v he_o here_o unsay_n what_o before_o he_o say_v and_o instead_o of_o that_o to_o content_v himself_o for_o the_o present_a with_o assert_v that_o there_o be_v a_o sufficient_a help_n afford_v to_o all_o etc._n etc._n but_o bring_v forth_o no_o proof_n of_o that_o neither_o but_o beside_o what_o have_v be_v already_o prove_v against_o he_o i_o shall_v far_o examine_v this_o notion_n before_o i_o come_v to_o the_o end_n of_o this_o chapter_n and_o
