out_o the_o other_o do_v not_o indeed_o love_n god_n as_o god_n &_o as_o he_o must_v be_v love_v 1._o to_o think_v in_o general_a that_o there_o be_v a_o infinite_a eternal_a spirit_n of_o life_n light_n and_o love_n and_o not_o to_o think_v of_o he_o as_o relate_v to_o the_o world_n as_o its_o creator_n preserver_n and_o governor_n nor_o as_o relate_v to_o we_o and_o to_o mankind_n as_o our_o represent_v they_o to_o the_o fantasy_n and_o intellect_n or_o 2._o by_o the_o intellect_n own_o conceive_n of_o other_o thing_n by_o the_o similitude_n of_o thing_n sense_v 3._o or_o by_o immediate_a internal_a intuition_n or_o sensation_n of_o the_o act_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o itself_o 4._o or_o by_o reason_n collection_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o other_o thing_n from_o the_o similitude_n and_o effect_n of_o such_o perceive_v operation_n i._o by_o the_o external_a sense_n we_o perceive_v all_o external_a sense_v thing_n and_o we_o imagine_v and_o know_v they_o as_o so_o perceive_v ii_o by_o the_o intellection_n of_o these_o we_o conceive_v of_o other_o thing_n as_o like_v they_o form_v universal_a conception_n and_o apply_v they_o to_o such_o individual_n as_o be_v beyond_o the_o reach_n of_o our_o sense_n as_o we_o think_v of_o man_n tree_n beast_n fish_n etc._n etc._n in_o the_o indies_n as_o like_v those_o which_o we_o have_v see_v and_o of_o sound_n there_o as_o like_v those_o which_o we_o have_v hear_v and_o of_o the_o taste_n of_o fruit_n by_o the_o similitude_n of_o such_o as_o we_o have_v taste_v etc._n etc._n iii_o how_o sense_n itself_o intellection_n itself_o volition_n itself_o and_o internal_a affection_n be_v perceive_v be_v no_o small_a controversy_n among_o philosopher_n that_o we_o do_v perceive_v they_o by_o the_o great_a wisdom_n and_o goodness_n of_o our_o creator_n we_o be_v sure_a but_o how_o we_o do_v it_o we_o can_v scarce_o describe_v as_o know_v it_o better_o by_o the_o experience_n of_o that_o perception_n itself_o than_o by_o a_o knowledge_n of_o the_o cause_n and_o nature_n of_o the_o act_n it_o be_v most_o common_o say_v that_o the_o intellect_n know_v its_o own_o act_n by_o reflection_n or_o as_o ockam_n by_o intuition_n and_o that_o it_o know_v what_o sense_n be_v and_o what_o volition_n by_o some_o species_n or_o image_n of_o they_o in_o the_o fantasy_n which_o it_o behold_v but_o such_o word_n give_v no_o man_n a_o true_a knowledge_n of_o the_o thing_n inquire_v of_o unless_o withal_o he_o read_v the_o solution_n experimental_o in_o his_o own_o soul._n i_o know_v not_o what_o the_o meaning_n of_o a_o reflect_v act_n be_v be_v it_o the_o same_o act_n which_o be_v call_v direct_a and_o reflect_v and_o do_v the_o intellect_n know_v that_o it_o know_v by_o the_o very_a same_o act_n by_o which_o it_o know_v other_o thing_n if_o so_o why_o be_v it_o call_v reflect_v and_o what_o be_v that_o reflection_n but_o the_o contrary_n be_v common_o say_v that_o divers_a object_n make_v divers_a act_n and_o act_n of_o memory_n the_o intellect_n immediate_o perceive_v its_o own_o particular_a act_n and_o so_o do_v the_o sense_n by_o one_o and_o the_o same_o act_n we_o see_v and_o perceive_v that_o we_o see_v and_o by_o one_o and_o the_o same_o act_n i_o think_v we_o know_v and_o know_v that_o we_o know_v and_o this_o by_o a_o consciousness_n or_o internal_a sense_n which_o be_v the_o immediate_a act_n of_o the_o essence_n of_o the_o faculty_n and_o choose_v whether_o you_o will_v say_v that_o such_o two_o object_n may_v constitute_v one_o act_n or_o whether_o you_o will_v say_v that_o the_o be_v call_v its_o object_n or_o that_o act_n and_o object_n be_v not_o two_o thing_n but_o two_o inadequate_a conception_n of_o one_o thing_n and_o how_o do_v the_o soul_n perceive_v its_o own_o volition_n to_o say_v that_o volition_n which_o be_v act_n of_o the_o intellectual_a soul_n must_v be_v sensate_a and_o so_o make_v a_o species_n on_o the_o fantasy_n as_o sensate_a thing_n do_v and_o be_v know_v only_o in_o that_o species_n be_v to_o bring_v down_o the_o high_a faculty_n and_o subordinate_a it_o to_o the_o low_a that_o it_o may_v be_v intelligible_a while_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o we_o shall_v never_o here_o perfect_o understand_v the_o solution_n of_o these_o difficulty_n be_v it_o not_o pardonable_a among_o other_o man_n conjecture_n to_o say_v that_o the_o noble_a faculty_n of_o sense_n because_o brute_n have_v it_o be_v usual_o too_o base_o describe_v by_o philosopher_n and_o that_o intellection_n and_o volition_n in_o the_o rational_a soul_n be_v a_o understand_v other_o thing_n eminent_o see_v or_o sense_n and_o so_o understand_v that_o it_o understand_v and_o that_o the_o will_n do_v by_o willing_a feel_v that_o it_o will_v when_o i_o consult_v my_o experience_n i_o must_v either_o say_v thus_o or_o else_o that_o intellection_n and_o volition_n so_o immediate_o ever_o move_v the_o internal_a sense_n that_o they_o be_v know_v by_o we_o only_o as_o act_n compound_v with_o that_o sense_n but_o i_o be_o go_v too_o far_o before_o i_o be_v aware_a iv._o the_o soul_n thus_o know_v or_o feel_v its_o own_o act_n do_v in_o the_o next_o place_n rational_o gather_v 1._o that_o it_o have_v power_n to_o perform_v they_o and_o be_v a_o substance_n so_o empower_v 2._o that_o there_o be_v other_o such_o substance_n with_o the_o like_a act_n 3._o and_o there_o be_v one_o prime_a transcendent_a substance_n which_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n which_o have_v infinite_o noble_a act_n than_o we_o and_o thus_o sense_n and_o reason_n concur_v to_o our_o knowledge_n of_o god_n by_o show_v we_o and_o perceive_v that_o image_n in_o which_o by_o similitude_n we_o must_v know_v he_o the_o fiery_a ethereal_a or_o solar_a nature_n be_v at_o least_o the_o similitude_n of_o spirit_n and_o by_o condescend_v similitude_n god_n in_o scripture_n be_v call_v light_n and_o the_o father_n of_o light_n in_o who_o be_v no_o darkness_n allow_v and_o invite_v we_o to_o think_v of_o his_o glory_n by_o the_o similitude_n of_o the_o sun_n or_o light._n but_o intellectual_a spirit_n be_v the_o high_a nature_n know_v to_o we_o and_o these_o we_o know_v intimate_o by_o most_o near_a perception_n by_o the_o similitude_n of_o these_o therefore_o we_o must_v conceive_v of_o god._n a_o soul_n be_v a_o self-moving_a life_n or_o vital_a substance_n misconceive_v of_o by_o sinner_n be_v still_o very_o good_a all_o the_o good_a of_o the_o whole_a creation_n be_v as_o the_o heat_n of_o this_o infinite_a eternal_a fire_n of_o love._n and_o have_v bless_a union_n with_o himself_o and_o as_o our_o sanctifier_n and_o glorifier_n prepare_v we_o for_o and_o bring_v we_o to_o celestial_a perfection_n and_o thus_o must_v god_n be_v conceive_v of_o that_o we_o may_v love_v he_o and_o false_a and_o defective_a conception_n of_o he_o as_o the_o great_a impediment_n of_o our_o love_n and_o we_o love_v he_o so_o little_a much_o because_o we_o so_o
