people_n at_o the_o prayer_n of_o hezekiah_n and_o observe_v say_v he_o notwithstanding_o this_o disorder_n as_o to_o circumstance_n the_o feast_n be_v keep_v with_o great_a gladness_n etc._n etc._n answ_n what_o now_o john_n bunyan_n how_o great_a a_o labyrinth_n have_v thou_o bring_v we_o into_o if_o thy_o word_n be_v true_a must_v that_o be_v admit_v in_o the_o church_n yea_o do_v god_n himself_o like_o it_o even_o that_o which_o be_v undue_a yea_o contrary_a to_o what_o be_v write_v sure_o we_o be_v leave_v herein_o if_o this_o be_v so_o to_o every_o man_n fancy_n who_o be_v there_o scripture_n will_v judge_v all_o man_n at_o the_o day_n of_o doom_n now_o this_o can_v be_v if_o the_o word_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o the_o law_n therein_o contain_v must_v give_v place_n to_o a_o pretend_a edification_n of_o the_o people_n will_v not_o that_o viz._n to_o plead_v the_o edification_n of_o the_o people_n if_o his_o word_n be_v true_a be_v a_o good_a excuse_n at_o the_o day_n of_o doom_n but_o i_o hope_v no_o man_n will_v be_v so_o unwise_a as_o to_o believe_v he_o who_o be_v not_o only_o so_o contrary_a to_o himself_o but_o to_o the_o holy_a apostle_n who_o desire_v the_o godly_a by_o the_o example_n of_o himself_o and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o apostle_n to_o learn_v not_o so_o much_o as_o to_o think_v above_o that_o which_o be_v write_v 1_o cor._n 4.6_o and_o so_o much_o the_o rather_o because_o he_o know_v that_o afterward_o there_o will_v arise_v such_o presumptuous_a person_n as_o john_n bunyan_n who_o will_v pretend_v they_o may_v do_v otherwise_o even_o contrary_a to_o the_o write_a law_n of_o god_n that_o good_a may_v come_v concern_v who_o paul_n say_v rom._n 3.8_o their_o damnation_n be_v just_a but_o perhaps_o you_o will_v say_v with_o john_n commandment_n otherwise_o whatsoever_o we_o pretend_v we_o neither_o love_n god_n nor_o the_o child_n of_o god_n for_o as_o love_v to_o god_n so_o love_v to_o the_o child_n of_o god_n be_v inconsistent_a with_o disobedience_n to_o god_n command_n wherefore_o to_o john_n bunyan_n pretence_n viz._n that_o love_n be_v of_o much_o more_o worth_a than_o baptism_n and_o that_o we_o be_v command_v above_o all_o thing_n to_o put_v it_o on_o i_o must_v tell_v he_o it_o be_v of_o more_o worth_n than_o faith_n 1_o cor._n 13_o 13._o and_o if_o above_o all_o thing_n thou_o above_o faith_n to_o be_v put_v on_o yet_o i_o suppose_v john_n bunyan_n will_v not_o allow_v in_o this_o case_n church-communion_n without_o faith_n which_o may_v as_o well_o be_v urge_v from_o this_o reason_n but_o herein_o as_o in_o all_o a_o preacher_n of_o the_o gospel_n shall_v learn_v right_o to_o divide_v the_o word_n of_o truth_n the_o great_a be_v not_o only_o demonstrate_v but_o preserve_v many_o time_n by_o that_o which_o be_v lesser_a as_o life_n by_o food_n etc._n etc._n reas_n 8._o but_o john_n bunyan_n in_o his_o 8_o reason_n pag._n 119._o will_v have_v you_o know_v that_o for_o god_n people_n to_o divide_v into_o party_n or_o shut_v each_o other_o from_o church-communion_n though_o in_o great_a point_n and_o high_a pretence_n than_o this_o of_o water-baptism_n have_v heretofore_o be_v count_v carnal_a and_o the_o actor_n therein_o babish-christians_a etc._n etc._n answ_n i_o confess_v this_o look_n more_o like_o a_o argument_n of_o weight_n than_o any_o heretofore_o allege_v for_o do_v so_o now_o but_o he_o say_v that_o to_o shut_v out_o of_o communion_n upon_o great_a point_n and_o high_a pretence_n than_o water-baptism_n be_v then_o reckon_v carnal_a but_o by_o john_n bunyan_n favour_n it_o be_v untrue_a the_o apostle_n himself_o command_v to_o withdraw_v from_o every_o brother_n that_o walk_v disorderly_a not_o according_a to_o their_o tradition_n 2_o thess_n 3.6_o to_o shut_v such_o out_o of_o communion_n it_o seem_v be_v not_o carnality_n but_o according_a to_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n holy_a spirit_n and_o those_o that_o deny_v baptism_n be_v guilty_a of_o that_o disorder_n as_o have_v be_v already_o prove_v yea_o it_o must_v be_v so_o for_o john_n bunyan_n confess_v pag._n 123._o that_o baptism_n be_v a_o holy_a ordinance_n which_o to_o neglect_v and_o despise_v be_v disorder_n and_o unholiness_n and_o the_o person_n guilty_a thereof_o therefore_o to_o be_v shune_v but_o john_n bunyan_n to_o confirm_v his_o assertion_n tell_v you_o that_o paul_n apollo_n cephas_n and_o christ_n be_v doubtless_o high_a thing_n than_o those_o about_o which_o we_o contend_v yet_o when_o they_o make_v division_n about_o they_o they_o be_v sharp_o rebuke_v but_o as_o his_o falsehood_n so_o his_o craft_n be_v discover_v for_o that_o division_n in_o corinth_n be_v not_o about_o high_a thing_n than_o baptism_n neither_o do_v it_o extend_v to_o breach_n of_o communion_n as_o for_o paul_n apollo_n cephas_n and_o christ_n they_o be_v neither_o of_o they_o deny_v there_o be_v no_o high_a point_n in_o question_n neither_o as_o to_o their_o division_n be_v they_o charge_v with_o the_o denial_n of_o any_o doctrine_n or_o any_o practice_n in_o worship_n but_o their_o case_n be_v thus_o they_o be_v it_o seem_v puff_v up_o with_o pride_n and_o strive_v for_o superiority_n wherein_o they_o take_v advantage_n by_o the_o eminency_n of_o their_o minister_n who_o have_v be_v conversant_a among_o they_o as_o the_o bishop_n of_o rome_n at_o this_o day_n say_v i_o be_o of_o cephas_n and_o thereupon_o challenge_v the_o primacy_n so_o they_o say_v some_o be_v of_o paul_n some_o of_o apollo_n and_o some_o of_o christ_n which_o in_o truth_n the_o apostle_n sharp_o reprehend_v but_o if_o either_o of_o they_o have_v be_v deny_v and_o the_o church_n have_v call_v such_o a_o person_n to_o account_v for_o his_o denial_n and_o if_o persist_v therein_o shut_v he_o out_o of_o communion_n this_o will_v not_o have_v be_v account_v carnal_a proceed_n although_o john_n bunyan_n be_v please_v further_a to_o say_v let_v paul_n cephas_n or_o command_v i_o wonder_v what_o john_n bunyan_n will_v have_v we_o follow_v or_o who_o will_v he_o have_v we_o separate_v from_o or_o what_o must_v we_o respect_v if_o neither_o christ_n order_n the_o the_o apostle_n intimate_v as_o much_o when_o he_o say_v be_v you_o baptize_v in_o the_o name_n of_o paul_n who_o will_v have_v think_v to_o have_v hear_v such_o unsound_a speech_n such_o perverse_a word_n from_o one_o that_o acknowledge_v baptism_n to_o be_v a_o holy_a ordinance_n of_o christ_n be_v it_o likely_a division_n shall_v be_v help_v forward_o by_o a_o holy_a ordinance_n do_v paul_n intimate_v the_o same_o nay_o he_o do_v urge_v the_o contrary_a even_o by_o the_o aforesaid_a word_n for_o when_o the_o corinthian_n be_v puff_v up_o with_o pride_n and_o seek_v for_o superiority_n
